Saturday 3rd October* is also the start of Sukkot, the Jewish feast of the Tabernacles, it celebrates the harvest and the preservation of the Israelites in the wilderness and occurs on the 15th day of the month of Tishri. The holiday lasts a week, with the first and last days being public holidays in Israel.
Sukkot commemorates the many years that the Jews spent in the desert after the exodus from Egypt and before reaching the Promised Land. The festival specifically gives thanks for the protection, received from their God, whilst in the desert.
The Hebrew word sukkot translates as huts or booths. Hence, Jewish families may celebrate the festival by building a hut and living in it during the holiday. This hut should have a roof of leaves and bran, and from inside the sky should be visible, so they tend to be temporary and generally quite flimsy.
During Sukkot, a ritual may be observed by taking four different types of plant: a palm branch, an etrog ( citrus fruit), a willow and a myrtle branch and wave them about in celebration.
*Like other Jewish holidays, Sukkot begins at sundown of the night beforehand. Thus all holiday observances begin at nghtfall and this festival ends at nightfall on Friday 9th October. Resource: officeholidays.com.

Currently, due to Coronavirus, most events will be virtual hence MP3 meditations and distant readings and healings are proving popular. We don't recommend giving a reading or healing to another person, without first checking whether it would be welcomed.
