Annual Meteor Showers
Meteor Showers take place at the same sort of time every year, but what changes is the light conditions depending on proximity to the Full Moon (dates for this year listed under Angela McGerr's Full Moon Angelic Meditation with Gabriel) or New Moon (dates for this year listed under New Moon Abundance Ritual). See below for chronological order of the annual showers. Two excellent sites for details each year are Earthsky Website - I usually use their excellent radiant point images (with permission from Deborah Byrd) and Time and Date. Both give great instructions for maximising your viewing opportunities. I usually insert a link in the Harmony Blog to the correct page for the current shower, where is the links above are generic.
Watching meteors can be a very therapeutic way to spend an evening. Choose the darkest spot available and check on one of the sites whether you are in location from where they can be seen (assuming minimal light pollution from street lights, large neighbouring towns etc.), the direction to look in (radiant point) and whether the best time for that shower is after midnight or just pre-dawn. When our girls were young, we would take some sun loungers out into the garden with hot drinks and duvets and lie outside for hours making some wonderful memories. The Perseids are the easiest ones to use for this as it's School Holidays and hopefully ambient weather, at least it should be here in the UK. In the Southern hemisphere I guess the Quadrantids, Draconids or Orionids might be a better choice.
Remember, even if you can't see anything during a Meteor Shower, there will be an impact energetically.
