  • Ancient Egyptian Ritual of the Neteru of the Two Lands, 22nd September 2018

Map of Lower Egypt from WikipediaSaturday 22nd September is the Ancient Egyptian Ritual of the Neteru of the Two Lands

The Two Lands, comprising of Upper & Lower Egypt, were presided over by the more successful Pharoahs. To the north was Lower Egypt (see map from Wikipedia) where the Nile fans into the Nile Delta.

To the south was Upper Egypt, stretching to Aswan. The terms Upper and Lower Egypt are derived from the unusual geography of the Nile, which unlike most rivers, flows from south to north. Its origins are in the highlands of East Africa and it ends with the Nile Delta which drains into the Mediterannean Sea.

Double Crown of Egypt image from WikipediaIn Spiritual lore, Upper and Lower Egypt could be said to represent the higher and lower self of the human body, and as such would need to be integrated on an annual basis with the help of the Neteru (Deities or Angelic Beings).

The unification of Upper and Lower Egypt occurred in about 3000 BC, but the pschent - or double crown, see  Wikipedia image on the right - worn by the Pharoahs represented the combined regalia of both areas; the hedjet or White Crown for Upper Egypt and the deshret or Red Crown for Lower Egypt, each half representing sovereignty of one of the kingdoms.

Established Ancient Egyptian tradition generally credits Menes (also known as Narmer), as the king who united Upper and Lower Egypt.

On the Narmer Palette the king is depicted wearing the Red Crown in one scene and the White crown in another, and thereby showing his rule over both Lands.

22nd September is also an alternative date for the Ancient Egyptian Ceremony of Transformation through Anpu (Anubis), though most sources list it as 4th September.  Joanna was interviewed by Linda Lang from ThoughtChange for their Mystical Side of Life Podcast series - see it on YouTube or for audio go to Anchor.

anubis with sampleAn MP3 Meditation to overcome negative behaviour patterns is available from the Harmony Shop. The Egyptians believed that when a deceased soul entered the Halls of Amenti they would undergo a ceremony involving the metaphorical weighing of the heart (of the deceased) against Maat's feather, whereby the weight of the heart represents the degree to which the deceased lived in truth (that is how much he/she has sinned, the more he/she had sinned the heavier the heart). The meditation guides you through a journey with Anpu to see how you would fare if your heart was weighed against Maat's feather at this point in your life. This meditation was devised for 4th September, which being a Festival of Anpu would add emphasis, but can be used anytime.

Anpu is the illegitimate child of Nebt-Het (Nephthys), born of her clandestine union with Asar (Osiris) but raised as the son of Set. Cast out when his true lineage was discovered, he became associated with dark and lonely places, a wanderer through the shadow-realm between life and death, Anpu therefore bearing witness to the darker side of mortality. He seeks out those lost souls who find themselves without guidance after their demise. He guards the Entrance to the Underworld, presided over by his true father Asar.  Hence, all who die will find themselves in the presence of this mysterious Jackel-headed God, who escorts them away from this world and to the gates of the next.

A laminated poster of Anpu (Anubis) by Jacqui Taliesin El Masri of Alkhemi.co.uk - shown on the right - is also available from the Harmony Shop along with other Egyptian Deity posters by Jacqui.

  • Celestial Forecast March 2021

Significant dates from ancient folklore; timings given are UK time (GMT)
Listings in black are Harmony Healing Events

March was a busy month in the Roman calendar!  March is also a month for celebrating women, with International women’s day, mothering Sunday and the celebration of numerous goddesses, Egyptian and Roman.  Indeed, there’s even a festival for Roman Matrons (older married women) to celebrate by turning the household hierarchy of their day on its head.

For a deep dive into the ‘whys and wherefores’ of the listed festivals and spiritually significant days, I publish a blog post on the day in question. Or to receive the information to your mail inbox, sign-up for Blog update alerts.

We did have North Surrey Forest Bathing events scheduled for the 18th & 20th March, but with the latest government guidelines, it looks as if the earliest we can re-start is April. In order to be first in line when restrictions are lifted, please get in touch to join the waiting list.

We have exciting news that Surrey based GPs will now be allowed to offer social prescribing and I hope to be on the team for this rewarding work when we start the trials.

In the meantime, keep connecting with nature during lockdown. Watching for signs of spring is an incredibly rewarding way to do this.

St Davids Day 1st MarchMonday 1st March is St David’s Day.  St. David, Dewi Sant, is the patron saint of the Welsh, and 1st March, his feast day, is celebrated as a patriotic and cultural festival in Wales.

Saint David, Grandson of the King of Ceredigion, was said to have been born on a clifftop during a fierce storm. He died on this day during the year 500. He grew up to be a celebrated Bishop and founder of monastic settlements and churches. Glastonbury Abbey may have been founded by St David.

So why is David associated with a dragon? There is a myth that when David was asked by villagers to slay a dragon, he instead went to visit the dragon and listen to its sad tale.

Matronalia 1st MarchMonday 1st March is also Matronalia, according to Roman tradition, which was the topsy-turvy feast sacred to Juno, the birth Goddess.

It was also a celebration of marriage, and the peace that these unions could usher in between Romans and Sabini, tribes from the mountain region near the Tibor.

The Roman mistress of the house waited on her servants for the day and presents were given to other people’s partners!

These wives of the house also gave a feast for their female slaves.

    5th March Ploiaphesia framed

Friday 5th March is Ploiaphesia, Egyptian Festival of Navigation. This was when one of the most important festivals of the Egyptian Goddess Isis was celebrated, the Ploiaphesia or Navigium Isidis (Ship of Isis).

The festival marked the opening of the safe sailing season after the stormy weather of winter had passed. A statue of Isis was carried in procession from her temple down to the harbour, where a specially-built ship was moored. The ship would then be loaded with offerings and dedicated to the Goddess, before being launched and carried out to sea by the wind.

The festival is described by Apuleius in his Metamorphoses (also known as the Golden Ass). To participate you can enjoy the energy of water and celebrate with processions, lights, mirrors, music and flowers. We have informative Egyptian Deity Posters available for sale from the Harmony Shop

IWD 8th MarchMonday 8th March is International Women’s Day; a day designated to celebrate the empowerment of women worldwide.

This year’s theme is “Choose To Challenge”, which is a powerful message on many levels. “A challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change.

So let's all choose to challenge.”

    #ChooseToChallenge

    New Moon image cropped toght

Saturday 13th March @ 10.21 is Pagan Dark Moon (New Moon). The reference to Dark Moon literally reflects the fact that the Moon is not lighting up the sky and some Pagans believed it was an auspicious time for celebrations and rituals, but others would always choose Full Moon.

The New Moon as a good time for starting projects and working a Vision Board for the rest of 2021.

TheNew Moon Abundance Ritual should be carried out within 24 hours after the New Moon. It needs to be after the New Moon because the moon should be waxing (getting bigger again) to carry the manifestation energy. There are video instructions on my You Tube Page and on Facebook

    Mothers Day 14thSunday 14th March
is Mothering Sunday in  the UK, now viewed as a chance to recognise the positive role of mothers in our lives.

Often posies of daffodils are presented.

Mothering Sunday is celebrated by Christians  in the UK & Ireland and some other English speaking countries. It takes place on the fourth Sunday in Lent, which is exactly three weeks before Easter Day.

It was once observed as a day when people visited their mother church, but has become a day for honouring mothers and exchanging presents with them. Increasingly it's being referred to as Mother's Day, although that name originated as an American secular holiday, celebrated on a different date and quite distinct from the initial UK based Mothering Sunday.

Anna Perenna etc. 15thMonday 15th March was the Ides of March in Roman tradition and a Festival to Jupiter.

Shakespeare had a soothsayer warn Julius Caesar 'Beware the Ides of March'.

Indeed he was reputedly assassinated on 15th March 44 BC.

In Ancient Rome, 15th March was also the celebration of Anna Perenna.

Offerings were made to the Spirit of the Year, so that the circle could be completed.

St Patricks Day used 2021Wednesday 17th March is St Patrick’s Day in Ireland. St Patrick is credited with converting the Irish back to Christianity which had been abandoned under Roman rule.

Saint Patrick is said to have used the Shamrock (three leaved clover) as a metaphor for the Christian Trinity.

The name shamrock comes from the Irish word seamróg, which is derived from the Irish word for clover (seamair) and means simply "little clover" or "young clover".

Liberalia 17 MarchWednesday 17th March was the Roman Festival of Liberalia, this was the feast to celebrate the male coming of age!

In view of the date coinciding with St Patrick's Day, having abandoned Christianity under Roman rule, I wonder if there is a connection that when Eire re-converted to Christianity they chose the Roman Festival for males coming of age as their date of celebration...

Quinquatrus 19th MarchFriday 19th Marchis the Roman Festival of Quinquatrus,so named because it was the 5th day after the Ides of March.

This was a Festival in honour of Minerva; it seems that women were accustomed to consult fortune-tellers and diviners upon this day.

At one time, celebrations took place 19th - 23rd of March, orginally an Etruscan festival to celebrate spring, rites of women, rebirthing and the Spring Equinox. I can't help wondering if it was a development from the Egyptian Pelusia Festival, see 20th March entry.

moon lodge w window 1Friday 19th March is also the Moon Lodge Healing Women's Circle, 7-8.30pm GMT, £11 + Eventbrite fee = £11.27.

Run by Harmony Healing collaborator Sarah Jane Dennis, this is a sacred circle for women in the community to come together as we once did, to connect in a safe and loving space to the energies of the moon and our own cycles.

Talk, support, heal, celebrate, and hold each other. It's a virtual event on Zoom. Book at Eventbrite

Spring Equinox 20thSaturday 20th March is the Pagan Equinox at 09:37.

On the Equinox, light and dark are equal over the whole world: mark the moment of the Equinox with silence and stillness.

Representing balance of opposites; it's a good time to bring balance into your life.

Pelusia 20thSaturday 20th March is also the Egyptian Festival of Pelusia, with the Egyptian Goddess Isis working her spring magic to ensure the flooding of the Nile later in the year, thereby guaranteeing a fruitful harvest.

We have informative Egyptian Deity Posters available for sale from the Harmony Shop.

International Day of ForestsSunday 21st March is International Day of Forests, sponsored by the United Nations. The 2021 theme for International Day of Forests is "Forest restoration: a path to recovery and well-being."

Forests are home to more that 60,000 tree species; comprising about 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity.

In fact, 1.6 billion people are directly dependent on forests for their shelter, food, medicines, income and energy.  Alarmingfly, we are losing around 10 million hectares of global forest annually (the size of Iceland) and this is said to accountsfor 12-20% of greenhouse gas emissions thought to contribute to our climate change.

As a qualified Forest Bathing+ guide, I am delighted to see Forests being recognised for their wellbeing benefits and valuable biodiversity and efforts being made to protect dwindling international woodlands.

Saturday 27th March, in the UK this year, is also when the clocks go forward, in fact at 01.00 on Sunday 28th March, and that is the start of British Summer Time, although we often have a while to wait until summer arrives in the UK.

Palm Sunday 28thSunday 28th March is Palm Sunday in the Christian Calendar this year. Palm Sunday, also known as Passion Sunday, is the 6th Sunday of Lent and the final Sunday before Easter.

Traditionally it marks the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.

The name is believed to commemorate the placement of palm leaves on the road to soften the surface for the donkey on which he was riding.

Essence of the MoonSunday 28th March @ 19.48 is the Easter Equinox Alder Full Moon.

Between Full Moon and the next New Moon is considered as a good time energetically for detoxing the body.

  • Friday 1st November, Samonios, All Saints Day & World Vegan Day

Pagan image of SamoniosFriday 1st November starts the first month of the Celtic Year, called Samonios - 'Seed Fall'; mirroring the death/rebirth cycle of Asar (Osiris).

It is thought that two Roman festivals became incorporated with Samhain - 'Feralia', when the Romans commemorated the passing of the dead, and 'Pomona', when the Roman goddess of fruit and trees was honoured. The Halloween tradition of bobbing for apples is thought to derive from the ancient links with the Roman fruit goddess, Pomona, and a Druidical rite associated with water.

This is also All Saints Day in the Christian calendar.

The Samonios image above and text below, by Helen Benigni, are kindly taken with permission from the angelfire.com website.

The month of SAMONIOS is a month of miraculous births beginning with the appearance of the twin stars of Castor and Pollux on the Eastern Horizon. These miraculously born twins, from an egg containing both mortal and immortal potential, bridge the gap between this world and the Otherworld with their appearance on the first quarter moon heralding the Holy Nights of Winter Solstice. Further into the month shortly after the third quarter of the moon, a trio of stars including Rigel, Betelguese and Castor march across the sky to illiminate this Oenach of light and birth.

Literally translated as "seed fall," SAMONIOS is the month when the light of the Dagda, the seed of his loins, penetrates the womb of the earth and creates life. This light is symbolized by the sunrise of the Winter Solstice penetrating the inner chambers of the sacred mounds of the Neolithic peoples. At Newgrange, the sacred mound of the Bru na Boinne, the light of the Winter Solstice shines through a roof-box of white quartz for seventeen minutes to dramatically illuminate the cruciform chamber of the passage tomb. Here, the stone-carved geometric motifs common to trance states of shamanic ecstasy amplify the light in order that the observer may experience the light of life bestowed by the solar deity.

This solar alignment initiates the light half of the year. Mistletoe is hung as a symbol of the immortal love that the good father, Dagda brought to Boand, the goddess of the Bru na Boinne. Oengus, the son of their union and the Lord of the Sid mound, guards the entrance to the Otherworld and immortal life.

Friday 1st November is also World Vegan Day.  In 1994, the event was established by Louise Wallis, then Chair of The Vegan Society, UK, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of coining the terms "vegan" and "veganism" and the founding of the organisation. November is nominated as World Vegan Month.

  • Friday 27th February is Full Moon Healing Circle, Full Moon @ 08.17 Saturday 28th February

February Healing CircleFriday 26th Februaryis our monthly Full Moon virtual healing circleat 7.30-9.30pm (UK time = GMT).

This month it costs £10 (+ £1 Paypal fee). From next month, the cost will change.

During this session, we connect with other like-minded people and together we work through a mindful chakra balancing process using colours and etheric crystals, with the aim that all participants will experience a degree of unity consciousness.

This activity serves as a good taster of my work in general and the virtual format of our Zoom based programme.

Saturday 28th February @ 08.17 is Snow Full Moon.

Gabriel in corp coloursImage of Angel Gabriel (right) by Richard Rockwood, is taken from Angela McGerr's Harmony Angel cards; signed copies are available from the Harmony ShopClick here for Angela McGerr's Full Moon Meditation with Gabriel.

The Native American tribes named each moon to keep track of the months and seasons, called the February Full Moon the Snow Moon. There isn't a standardised system however, as some tribes took a year to be 12 moon cycles, whilst others went with 13 moon cycles. Similarly some tribes worked with five seasons per year whereas others went with four. The Snow Moon is apparently named because historically it's been the snowiest month in America. Other tribes knew it as the Hunger Moonbecause it isn't conducive to hunting. American Farmers have adopted these titles so that they are still used today. (See article in the Telegraph for more on this).

It was thought the Celts also had names for each Full Moon of the year, however it seems this is a Neo Pagan belief first proposed by Robert Graves in his book The White Goddess published in 1948. In it, Graves reinvented the genuine early-medieval Irish ogham alphabet, purported to be based on trees, and created a Celtic Tree Calendar, naming 13 months after trees. Although it isn't an ancient tradtiom, being a tree lover myself and interested in Celtic words, I find it rather charming.

So, according to Robert Graves's imaginings, this is the Ash Moon (learnreligions.com). The Druids, venerated all nature but the three most sacred trees to them was the Ash, Oak and Thorn. The Ash tree features a great deal in Irish and Scottish folklore (the latter also including the Rowan, a form of Mountain Ash).  In the 12th Century, Marie de France wrote one of her famous lais about the Ash. The Ash is associated with rituals, magic and prophesy, making it a perfect choice for divining. Indeed, traditionally, more tools were made from Ash than any other wood, because it's not only very strong but it also resists shock (better than other hard woods such as oak or beech) making it an ideal choice for tool handles.  Ash berries were placed inside a baby's cradle to prevent the child being replaced with a 'changeling'. One of Odin's names in Norse is Ygg, which also means Ash, with the World tree, Yggdrasil, being an Ash.  Odin's spear was made from this tree.

Whilst writing a previous Blog article I wondered if our word 'ash' for something burnt was derived from the possible act of burning the magical tools (made predominantly of Ash) in an attempt to destroy the power of the Celtic Priests.

Between Full Moon and the next New Moon (Saturday 13th March) is considered as a good time energetically for detoxing the body.

Anyway, whatever the weather conditions, it's a fantastic excuse to get people of all ages outside in the fresh air and re-connecting with nature. Something our modern lifestyles and obsession with technology can distract us from doing...

Aligning ourselves with the moon cycle is very therapeutic, hence being aware of the Full Moon (a good time for bringing projects to a conclusion) and the New moon (good for starting new projects) is excellent for bringing harmony and wellbeing into our lives.

If you would like to experience one of our spiritual offerings (meditation, reading, 1:1 healing, a Forest Bathing+ session or a full mentoring course), why not ask for a Harmony Healing gift voucherfor a birthday or other celebratory occasion?

A number of virtual courses are now ready, details on Harmony Healing Virtual Events. Currently, due to Coronavirus, most events will be virtual hence distant readings and healings are proving popular. • Friday 30th April, Beltane Eve in Pagan Tradition

Beltane 30th AprilFriday 30th April is the Eve of Beltane; Pagan celebrations begin with people singing and dancing clockwise around the fire. The name 'Beltane' derives from the Celtic Deity 'Bel' (definition = 'the bright one') together with 'teine' – the Gaelic word for fire.

The combined meaning is 'Goodly Fire' or 'Bright Fire', hence bonfires were lit to encourage the Sun to nurture the forthcoming harvest and to honour Bel ask for his protection of the local community.

Bel seemingly required human effort before providing support so traditionally all community fires were extinguished and two Tein-eigen (translates as need-fire) bonfires were specially kindled for Beltane.

Cattle were driven between the fires to purify them with the smoke and bring fertility. People jumped over the fire (not the huge ones I presume) to cleanse, purify and enhance fertility.

Couples pledged themselves to each other by jumping the fires together and to bless their union. After the celebrations, which ran from sunset 30th April to sunset on 1st May, the villagers took a bit of the Teineigen to start fresh fires in their home hearth.

shutterstock 114601966 Pagan wheelBeltane is one of the four Celtic seasonal festivals; along with Lughnasadh, Samhain and Imbolc - as shown on the Pagan Wheel on the right, courtesy of Shutterstock (licence paid).

Dew gathered at dawn from the grass is traditionally used in potions for luck and it is thought to be lucky to roll naked in the dew!!!  I remember collecting the dew at dawn for luck as an adolescent but I didn't try the rolling naked in the dew so can't testify to whether that works for anything other than risking (indecent) exposure.

On Beltane itself, it's traditional to drink from a well before sunrise, then wash in the morning dew, adorn yourself with greenery, watch the sun come up, dance round the Maypole and otherwise abandon yourself to the season! Round Full Moon Cakes are eaten together with blackberry, elderberry, dandelion wine (or cider) being drunk. Visits are made to sacred springs where healing water is drunk.

Thanks also to Glastonbury-based Goddessandgreenman.co.ukwebsite who also credit Sacred Celebrations by Glennie Kindred as their information source. There are always amazing annual Beltane and May Day celebrations in Glastonbury, though this year if there are any they will probably have to be virtual.

By keeping traditions, Pagan communities retained a sense of harmony and connection, thereby bringing balance and wellbeing into their lives.

Joanna's Harmony Healing activities - not involving any rolling in the dew celebrations - are aimed at bringing harmony and wellbeing into your life.

The next RSE 1 module series starts 14th May with Violet Flame of Amenti and 17th May with Chakra Balancing, Axiatonal Alignment and Unity Consciousness.

If you are looking for spiritually enlightening activities following lockdown, which help to connect you with the lunar cycle, we have the next virtual healing circle on Wednesday 26th May at 7.30-9.30pm (UK time = GMT+1), and costs £20 (+ £2 Paypal fee). During this session, we connect with other like-minded people and together we work through a mindful chakra balancing process using colours and etheric crystals, with the aim that all participants will experience a degree of unity consciousness. • Halloween, 31st October 2017

Shutterstock Pagan Wheel InageTuesday 31st October  traditionally marks the end of the harvest and the beginning of the Celtic and Pagan New Year. Samhain is Irish-Gaelic for 'the Summer's end', and is pronounced 'sow-in'. Samhain represents the death of the summer sun god, Lugh. This festival celebrates Nature's cycle of death and renewal.  This is traditionally known as Halloween.

Samhain is one of the four Gaelic seasonal festivals; along with Lughnasadh, Imbolc and Beltane.

In the Northern Hemisphere, Samhain heralds the beginning of Winter when the world starts to darken and the days are getting shorter; the 'dark half' of the year and the demise of the sun's uplifting influence.  The crone, personified as Cailleach - the Queen of the Winter - was reborn on every All Hallows Eve, returning to bring the Winter and protect animals through the coldest months. • Monday 12th April @ 03.31 (Sunday night/Monday morning) is New Moon, start of our 'New Moon New Vision' manifestation & abundance programme

New Moon image pngMonday 12th April @ 03.31 (Sunday night/Monday morning) is the New Moon or Pagan Dark Moon.

The energy of this time is great for new projects and manifestation! Follow the link in my bio for abundance rituals and more on my site.

The New Moon Abundance Ritual should be carried out within 24 hours after the New Moon. It needs to be after the New Moon because the moon should be waxing (getting bigger again) to carry the manifestation energy. There are video instructions on my Facebook Page or You Tube Page.

It is a fabulous day for creating a personal or corporate Vision Board for 2021. Creating a Vision Board which illustrates pictorially how you envisage your goals taking shape, really helps to make the possibilities seem real and attainable and gives a source of reference later when you want to look back and compare what you set out to achieve to what has materialised in the interim. Focussing on what you want to manifest in your life is a really effective way of bringing harmony and balance into your life.

This New Moon in April marks the start of my New Moon New Vision course runs 12th April to 11th May, taking in the Pagan Celebration of Beltane and the 555 numerology of 1st May. Join us for moon meditations, daily affirmations, vision board creation, manifestation and energy attunements!

As we're almost at the end of the course, but still the beginning of a journey, I thought I'd share a few of the things that have changed for me during this moon cycle.

  • Monday 1st March, St David's Day & Roman Festival of Matronalia

Saint Davids DayMonday 1st March is St David’s Day. St. David, Dewi Sant, is the patron saint of Wales, and 1st March, his feast day, is celebrated as a patriotic and cultural festival.

The exact year when St David was born isn't known, but it is believed to be between 462 and 515 AD.

According to the BBC Website, Welsh people around the world mark the day by wearing one or both of Wales's national emblems; a daffodil and/or a leek.

Until lockdown, a St David's Day parade was held in central Cardiff every year, with exciting performances by dragons and theatre groups. Children can wear traditional Welsh clothing and take part in folk dances. St David's Hall in Cardiff also hosts a concert featuring the BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales performing traditional songs.

These wives of the house also gave a feast for their female slaves.

Matronalia 1st MarchMonday 1st March in Ancient Roman tradition, is also Matronalia, which was the topsy-turvy feast sacred to Juno Lucina, who was the Goddess of childbirth, motherhood and

It was also a celebration of marriage, and the peace that these unions could usher in between Romans and Sabini, tribes from the mountain region near the Tibor.

Matronalia was thought to have been established by Romulus and it was the first day of the year.

Whenever a child was born in Rome, it was ordained by royal decree of Rex Servius Tullius that the parents must make an offering Juno Lucina'stemple.

  • Monday 21st December @ 13.30, Winter Solstice in Northern Hemisphere (Summer Solstice in southern hemisphere)

Monday 21st December is the Pagan Solstice @ 13.30. It's the Winter Solstice here in the UK - the shortest day of the year with just 7 hours and 49 minutes daylight. The solstice itself is the moment the sun is shining farthest to the south, directly over the Tropic of Capricorn, so the time varies every year, between December 20th and 23rd.

The solstice has been celebrated for thousands of years as a major Pagan festival with rituals of rebirth. Revellers will gather at Stonehenge to watch the sunrise on the shortest day. Then, here in the Northern Hemisphere, our days will gradually get longer until the summer solstice on Monday 21st June 2021.

Many believe that the traditions now associated with Christmas had their roots in Pagan Winter Solstice celebrations; including misteltoe, Yule logs and even Christmas trees. The Druids - an ancient Celtic order of priests, diviners, teachers and magicians who gleaned knowledge and enlightenment from ancient trees such as ‘Tutorial Oaks’ and sacred landscapes - used evergreen trees, mistletoe and holly (could the word 'holy' be derived from this) to represent everlasting life.  Druids consider the cutting of trees an offence against nature, but would happily decorate them with colourful rags tied onto the branches.

22 22 Silver Platinum Star Gate of Moons from Angela McGerrs Love Light Cards

The image on the right shows 22:22 Silver Platinum Star Gate of Moons drawn by Richard Rockwood from Angela McGerr's Love & Light Cards. The cards were a small print run and have been long out of print but we do have a few pre-loved editions via the Harmony Shop.

Below is some information relating to a very powerful planetary alignment happening on the Solstice written by my friend Cathy Ballard (https://www.cathyballard.com/)

    "THE GRAND SATURN-JUPITER CONJUNCTION

Apart from the heightened stress, disappointment and upset in the collective conscious from enforced separation on top of the normal Christmas pressures, there is also another reason that things are especially emotionally intense for many right now, and that is the Saturn-Jupiter Grand Conjunction happening on Monday 21st December – the Solstice.

It is a very big deal for the evolution of consciousness.

Aboriginal and native peoples of the earth have been preparing for this event for a long time. You can find much more detailed information about the astrological meanings online, but essentially a major energy shift is taking place, especially in the build up to Solstice, that will create higher frequencies that hugely influence humanity for the good moving forwards.

This interesting video explains how there is an alignment of planets and moons that hasn't happened for 6000 years, labelled 'the Galactic Alignment'.

Supposedly it's a reset, and leading up to it we are encouraged to let go of old baggage and stuff we no longer need as we move into this higher frequency. And what that looks like on a practical level is all kinds of emotional junk coming to the surface to be released.

So lots of us will be going through the wringer right now!

ABORIGINAL PROPHESY – 'TURNING ON THE MAGIC BOX'

Known as 'turning on the magic box', there will be a ceremony taking place at Uluru
in central Australia that is prophesized will recharge and revitalise the spiritual heart of the planet, setting into motion a gradual ascension in the earthly vibration of the planet.

Turning on this magic box is dependant on there being enough people on the planet on that day, at that time, who are in a positive vibration, such as love, compassion, joy, peace. It will feed off pure positive human energy, and the box will absorb that powerful reservoir of pure energy then amplify and distribute it throughout all the sacred sites, ley lines and Dreaming tracks on the planet.

Of course there are many people who will doubt the truth of a prophesy, but why not pin our hopes on this happening? The reality of millions of people all consciously creating pure positive thoughts, vibrating love and holding the energy of Divine Consciousness in their hearts for the planet can't be a bad thing? And we've seen so many cases of instant healing occurring through group focus that this could make a big impact on all our lives at such a grand scale.

    YOU CAN HELP –
by meditating at that time, and in the time leading up to it. Clear your field, cleanse your soul, flood the planet with peaceful vibrations and recalibrate to the highest vibration possible.

Your energy can help turn this magic box on.

Many people are needed. The ceremony takes place at09.02 local time in Uluru (the famous landmark rock sacred to the Aboriginals we know as Ayers Rock). This is 11.32am UK time, 03.32am PST, 06.32am EST)."

Thank you Cathy for the above, you can sign up to her newsletters, and have access to her beautiful meditations, at https://www.cathyballard.com/.

IMG 4698Last year, I was up at 5am this morning for a wonderful Winter Solstice Sunrise gong ceremony (see photo left) at the lovely Clandon Wood Nature Reserve, where it was raining on arrival at 6.15 but settled down during the session and was sunny as I drove home  This year, I was due to be atending a Winter Solstice sound bath in Weybridge the day before on the 20th, but with our area moving into Tier 3 for 24 hours then Tier 4 COVID alert has meant his was cancelled.  On Monday itself, I will be having an informal zoom gathering with the RSE students who want to join me.  The Uluru event will take place in the middle of our virtual gathering as it happens...

Celebrating traditional Celtic festivals like the Winter Solstice, helped Pagan communities come together and bring balance and harmony into people's lives.

  • Monday 23rd September, Equinox

earth lighting equinox enMonday 23rd September at 08.50 is the Pagan Celebration of the Autumn Equinox, marking the time of harvest festival and fulfilment of summer; since, in the Northern Hemisphere, from now on there will be more dark than light for the rest of the year. In the Southern Hemisphere it's the Spring Equinox, heralding the longer days leading to the Summer Solstice.

An equinox is an astronomical event when the plane of Earth's equator passes the center of the Sun. Equinoxes occur twice a year, around 21st March and 22nd/23rd September.

The image on the right, by Przemyslaw Blueshade Idzkiewicz (from Wikipedia), shows the illumination of Earth by Sun on the day of equinox (vernal and autumnal). It is a view to eastern-hemisphere  showing  noon  in  Central European time zone (ignoring DST) on the day of equinox.

At this point in the year, the night and day lengths are exactly equal, so it's a time of balance and a good time for introspection, look for what is good and worthwhile to become seeds for next year.

Here in the UK, followers of the Druids, Pagans, Celtic and Gaelic traditions, as well as Wicca religion, gather at megalithic stone circles such as Stonehenge (Near Salisbury, Wiltshire) and Castlerigg (Keswick, Cumbria), to celebrate and watch the equinox sunrise.

  • Samhain or Halloween, Wednesday 31st October 2018

Shutterstock Pagan Wheel InageWednesday 31st October  traditionally marks the end of the harvest and the beginning of the Celtic and Pagan New Year. Samhain is Irish-Gaelic for 'the Summer's end', and is pronounced 'sow-in'.

Samhain represents the death of the summer sun god, Lugh. This festival celebrates Nature's cycle of death and renewal.  This is traditionally known as Halloween and is considered a time when the veil is thin between ours and other dimensions hence we can sense the presence of our ancestors more easily.

She turned to stone on Beltane Eve, Beltane being 1st May.

    According to Edwin Courtenay

On Halloween (Samhain), the veil between the worlds is thin because the old Celtic year is ending and the new Celtic year about to begin. This day and night - not one thing or the other - is a luminal space used by the Spirits of the Dead to visit those they love who they have left behind.

In the Witches circle a door is opened in the East and the dead invited to walk through and commune with the living. In ancient days, plates were laid at the table and filled with food for the dead (a tradition still followed by some) the plate placed outside at the end of the night for the phantoms to feast on. On this day candles are lit and the loved ones gone before are remembered, grieved and loved. On this night the Horned Lord of the Witches rides with his ghostly troupe rescuing the lost and Earth bound Souls seeking peace.

The ghosts of Halloween are not Gouls and monsters but our relatives and friends, come not to terrify but to love. Welcome them then and share this night together and know that there is nothing to fear from the dead.

Edwin also explains what is meant by the 'veil is thin':

Midnight has always been known as the Witching Hour... but why?

Midnight is a luminal space - not quite one day or the other but rather a space between, a betwixt between and therefore a space close to the Spirit world and the Gods! There are other luminal moments of course - dawn and dusk and also luminal spaces such as thresholds, archways, wells and lakes. Places that are natural gateways, that harbour unseen things (like the evil eye - which is why we lift brides over thresholds - so the evil eye doesn’t see them) and other powers!

These moments are powerful then and the times when witches weave their spells - especially on Halloween night!!!

Samhain (Halloween) seemed like an appropriate date for a mini Past Lives Workshop. If you are interested in reincarnation and/or past life readings and live near London, you might enjoy the London Angels, Nature & Keys to Wellbeing Meetup on Wednesday 31st October, at WeWork Waterhouse Square, London, EC1N 2SW 6.00-8.00pm, £25 (plus £1.50 admin fee if paid by PayPal). The theme is Do Past Lives Exist and will include a mini reading for those present.

  • Samonios, All Saints Day, 1st November 2017

Pagan image of SamoniosWednesday 1st November starts the first month of the Celtic Year, called Samonios - 'Seed Fall'; mirroring the death/rebirth cycle of Asar (Osiris).

Further into the month shortly after the third quarter of the moon, a trio of stars including Rigel, Betelguese, and Castor march across the sky to illiminate this Oenach of light and birth.

  • Saturday 1st August, Egyptian New Year & Celtic Lunasa or Lammas

Saturday 1st August (or 19th July according to other sources) marks the Ancient Egyptian New year, traditionally marked the start of the Nile flood, started by the tears of Aset (Isis) over the death of Asar (Osirus).  The exact correlation of the Egyptian New year to the modern calendar is disputed, but I favour the linking with the heliacal rising of Sirius (dawn visibility of Sirius) as this star, known to the Egyptians as Sopdet (pronounced Soppday) was closely associated with Aset.

I have two course Reyad Sekh Em (RSE) Egyptian Alchemy Healing Level 1 study modules started this week [it IS possible to catch up at this point in time, if you feel inspired) to co-incide with this Ancient Egyptian Festival also known as the Days out of TimeThis is Violet Flame of Amenti = 1 unit (£88) - next series, 3 x Tues mornings 10-12.15 (UK time = GMT +1), 28th July - 11th August & Khemitology Course = 1 unit (£88) - next series, 3 x Wed mornings 10-12.15 (UK time = GMT+1), 29th July - 12th August.

The indigenous name for Ancient Egypt was Khem. Khemitology is the study of Ancient Egypt according to the indigenous tribal elders & oral tradition wisdom keepers; which is quite different to traditional Egyptology though there is some overlap.

shutterstock 114601966 Pagan wheelIn the Northern Hemisphere, this is also the Pagan Celebration of Lunasa (also known as Lammas), this is the start of the harvest, season of pregnancy, ripening, transformation and peace. This marks the height of the northern summer, when the Earth is most alive. Spellings vary for this Celtic/Gaelic Festival, which can be called Lughnasadh or Lúnasa (this latter 'Irish' spelling ironically appears closest to what most English-speakers would regard as the phonetic pronunciation — luu-na-sa), see atriptoireland.com for more on this. It is certainly the great festival of Lugh, or Lug, the great Celtic Sun King [Egyptian origins spring to mind here] and God of Light, with August is Lugh's sacred month.  As someone interested in etymology (the study of words) I am thinking that surely the word 'light' (especially with the peculiar silent 'gh' which came to be identified with a host of other rhyming words in English such as sight and fright) comes from 'lugh'?

According to Celticdruidtemple.com, Lughnasa translates as "the games of Lugh" (pronounced as Lou or sometimes Luff) and alludes to the assembly for games coinciding with the first of three harvests. The month of August is apparently called Lughnasadh in Gaelic and it marks the last day of summer. This was a specifically Gaelic holiday and many of the other Celtic cultures also celebrate an autumn festival known by a range of names.  As Beltaine on 1st May marks the start of summer - Lughnasa marks the end of summer. Lughnasa is historically linked with Lugh, a leading Celtic deity and hero. These games with a bull sacrifice and major feast [with interesting echoes of the Egyptian Bull cult where Ausar (Osirus) was portrayed as a bull-headed deity), which I believe led to the unfortunate Mediterranean Bull Fighting tradition], and for some it was the start of a trial marriage.

In some Wiccan and modern Pagan traditions, this festival for honouring Lugh is known as Lammas (see thoughtco.com). Allegedly, the word Lammas derives from an Old English phrase hlaf-maesse, translating as loaf mass. Lammas was an annual ritual, recogniing a community's dependency on what Thomas Hardy referred to as 'the ancient pulse of germ and birth.'"

By keeping traditions, Pagan communities and those in Ancient Egypt retained a sense of harmony and connection, thereby bringing balance and wellbeing into their lives.

Harmony Healing utilises the philosophies of the Ancient Egyptians to bring balance and harmony. A number of virtual courses are starting again this week, including Reyad Sekh Em (RSE) Egyptian Alchemy Healing Level 1 (which is now fully available as interactive training modules) details on Harmony Healing Virtual Events. Currently, due to Coronavirus, most events will be virtual hence distant readings and healings are proving popular. We don't recommend giving a reading or healing to another person, without first checking whether it would be welcomed.

If you are looking for spiritually enlightening activities during lockdown, Joanna offers distant intuitive readings (past life and/or aura readings) and distant 1-2-1 healings and virtual healing circles. We also have meditations available.

  • Saturday 31st October, Samhain or Halloween

Shutterstock Pagan Wheel InageSaturday 31st October traditionally marks the end of the harvest and the beginning of the Celtic and Pagan New Year.

She turned to stone on Beltane Eve, Beltane being 1st May.

According to clairvoyant, channel, spiritual teacher and author Edwin Courtenay

Traditional festivals like this helped communities to feel connected, bringing balance and harmony into people's lives.

If you relish the idea of joining other lightworkers for a guided excursion into the fabric of the earth and the far reaches of distant galaxies, join us for the next monthly Virtual Healing Circle tonight (on Halloween). It's taking place 7.30-9.30pm (UK time), cost to participate is £10 or £11 depending how you pay. Saturday 31st October is a Full Moon this year (indeed, according to recent definition, it’s a blue moon being the second one in October).  Ancient Celtic traditions have held this date as sacred for hundreds of years, the night when the veil is thin between this world and other dimensions.

Currently, due to Coronavirus, most events will be virtual hence MP3 meditations and distant readings and healings are proving popular. We don't recommend giving a reading or healing to another person, without first checking whether it would be welcomed.

  • Sunday 1st November, Samonios, All Saints Day & World Vegan Day

Pagan image of SamoniosSunday 1st November starts the first month of the Celtic Year, called Samonios - 'Seed Fall'; mirroring the death/rebirth cycle of Asar (Osiris).

The Samonios image above and text below, by Helen Benigni, were kindly taken with permission some years ago from the angelfire.com website.

Sunday 1st November is also World Vegan Day.  In 1994, the event was established by Louise Wallis, then Chair of The Vegan Society, UK, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of coining the terms "vegan" and "veganism" and the founding of the organisation. November is nominated as World Vegan Month.

  • Sunday 22nd September, Ancient Egyptian Ritual of the Neteru of the Two Lands

Map of Lower Egypt from WikipediaSunday 22nd September is the Ancient Egyptian Ritual of the Neteru of the Two Lands

The Two Lands, comprising of Upper & Lower Egypt, were presided over by the more successful Pharoahs. To the north was Lower Egypt (see map from Wikipediaby Jeff Dahl - self-made, photoshop. based on File: Nomes of Ancient, CC BY-SA 3.0) where the Nile fans into the Nile Delta.

  • Sunday 28th March @ 19:48, Equinox Easter Worm Full Moon & Palm Sunday

Easter Full Moon 28th March and healing circleSunday 28th March @ 19:48 is the Equinox Easter Worm Full Moon & Palm Sunday.

Between Full Moon and the next New Moon is considered as a good time energetically for detoxing the body.

Click here foAngela McGerr's Full Moon Meditation with Gabriel, taken from Angela's A Harmony of Angels; signed copies of which are available from the Harmony Shop.

Tonight's Full Moon is nicknamed the Worm Moon!  This month, the moon fixes the date for Easter, as Easter Sunday is always immediately after the first full moon following the Equinox (Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere). So Easter Sunday will be 4th April.

If you are looking for regular spiritually enlightening activities during lockdown, which help to connect you with the lunar cycle, we have the next virtual healing circle on Sunday 28th March, at 7.30-9.30pm (UK time = GMT+1), and costs £20 (+ £2 Paypal fee). During this session, we connect with other like-minded people and together we work through a mindful chakra balancing process using colours and etheric crystals, with the aim that all participants will experience a degree of unity consciousness, and we make a positive difference in the world (see this Youtube footage for explanation of how this affects the global situation).

This Full Moon Virtual Circle as a good taster of my work in general and the virtual format of our Zoom based programme.

Essence of the MoonOur Full Moon image this month is called Essence of the Moon painting by Zoe Hudson. For commission enquiries, see Zoe's website or email

The Worm Moon, was so named by the Native American tribes who named each moon to keep track of the months and seasons. There isn't a standardised system however, as some tribes took a year to be 12 moon cycles, whilst others went with 13 moon cycles. Similarly some tribes worked with five seasons per year whereas others went with four. Some Native Americans identified the Worm Moon with earthworm casts appearing as the spring warmth develops and hence the birds finding their food. Other tribes knew it as the Crow Moon, Lenten Moon and Sap Moon. American Farmers have adopted these titles so that they are still used today. (See article in the Telegraphfor more on this).

Although the Celts were believed to have revered nature, the idea that they also had tree names for each Full Moon of the year, is neo-Pagan, having been introduced by Robert Graves in the 1948, which I find rather charming. So, according to Robert Graves's imaginings, this is the Alder Moon. At this time of year the Alder is prominent and flourishing on the river banks, with its roots dipping in the water, offering itself up as a magical bridge between heaven and earth. Known as Fearn (pronounced Faerin) it is associated with Faerie Magic; an ideal time for spiritual decision-making relating to divination and prophesy, as well as for honing our intuitive skills. Alder twigs and flowers are well known charms in Faerie Lore, with Alder shoots being used to make whistles and flutes to commune with the air elementals. More about this at learnreligions.com or Celtic Weirdness website.

Being very close to the Equinox, the Alder Moon will carry the frequency of balance and harmony embodied by the Equinox when light and dark are in perfect balance.
