  • 25th/26th December, Christmas Day & Boxing Day 2018

Tuesday 25th December is the Christian Festival of Christmas, commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ.

This is also Zartosht-no Diso in the Fasli Zoroastrian Calendar, commemorating the anniversary of the death of the prophet Zarathustra.

Wednesday 26th December is St Stephen’s Day in the Christian Calendar. This day is also known as Boxing Day because servants and tradesmen would receive gifts, known as a "Christmas box", from their bosses or employers.

  • 3:3:3 numerology Awaken Your Avatar, 30th March 2019

Saturday 30th March -  a gentle reminder that this is the final 3-3-3 numerology for this month, for which I've chosen the theme Awaken Your Avatar; which is basically a suggestion that we consolidate our internal conflict (balance our masculine/feminine, home/work-life, even positive/negative personality traits) and focus on connecting with our inner knowing (Higher Self) which we all hold within.  This means opening the heart and working toward integrating the Higher Self (spiritual aspects) and Lower Self (basic functional needs) to create an enlightened being (Avatar). Below is a recap of the 3-3-3 numerology and theme for this third month.

2019 is a '3' year in numerology (2+0+1+9 = 12, then 1+2 =3), March is the third month and so there are four dates this month where the digits add up to three (3rd, 12th, 21st and 30th) giving us four separate examples of 3:3:3 numerology, which can be interpreted as meaning 'awaken your avatar' as well as 'creating heaven on earth'. The same 3:3:3 numerology will apply on 3rd, 12th, 21st and 30th December 2019. These dates will all offer amplified energies for manifesting our hopes and dreams.  Full details on the numerology are detailed in the separate section below.

myAvatar2010 was the last '3 year'. That was the year when I saw the film Avatar and was struck by some very deep resonances within the storyline (though I personally think the film would have been improved by at least 30-45 mins less battle combat scenes). The blue skin of the Na'vi is interesting (Ptah, the Egyptian Deity, is depicted with blue skin and it is said that the beings from Sirius have blue skin), but I particularly like the way the Na'vi understood the inter-relationship between species and the need to honour all life forms, plus their appreciation of the life force infrastructure network operating via trees!  This is something that my sister (Angela McGerr) and I work with (via the Sacred Eden Tree, original archetypal tree from the Garden of Eden), through which much global and planetary healing can be disseminated.  Most people would not understand this concept at all, so in a way, films like Avatar sew the seeds for this being not such a challenging idea!  Of course Avatar, though it has come to mean in techno speak representation of self as a chosen archetype (or even via a Caricature - see mine left courtesy of avatar maker), as defined by is original Sanskrit meaning, was the representation/incarnation of a Deity via a human or animal body, so in the film both definitions are combined with the idea of an idealised/perfected template of self.

By Awakening our Avatar, we can become masters of our destiny.  Just imagine what we can do by tuning in 'en masse' at 3.33 (am or pm would work, though I fancy pm will be more popular!) on any of these 3:3:3 portals. I will be undertaking a meditation between 3 - 3.33, hopefully on all of these dates, but certainly on the 3rd and 30th, please tune-in if you are available.  Close your eyes at a convenient time, which could be 3pm in your local time or the equivalent of 3pm GMT (when we will be meditating), or, if this is not possible, then invoke Eth, the angelic Guardian of time, to bend time so that you can join us etherically.  Send your positive intentions for awakening your Avatar and also for seeing the planet healed, to create for ourselves the next golden age.

See this Lost Generation You Tube video link for a thought-provoking (1 minute 50 seconds) presentation on the need for global responsibility.  This was also, synchronistically, first uploaded in 2010.

  • 3:3:3 numerology Awaken Your Avatar, 3rd December 2019

Tuesday 3rd December - is the first 3:3:3 numerology for this month, for which I've chosen the theme Awaken Your Avatar; which is basically a suggestion that we consolidate our internal conflict (balance our masculine/feminine, home/work-life, even positive/negative personality traits) and focus on connecting with our inner knowing (Higher Self) which we all hold within. This means opening the heart and working toward integrating the Higher Self (spiritual aspects) and Lower Self (basic functional needs) to create an enlightened being (Avatar).  I have an online meditation, aimed at identifying and overcoming what is holding you back from achieving your full potential, you can join on 12th December (which is a 12:12:12 as well as another 3:3:3) - see below for details.

Below is a recap of the 3:3:3 numerology and theme for this month.

2019 is a '3' year in numerology (2+0+1+9 = 12, then 1+2 =3), March was the third month and so there were four dates back in March where the digits added up to three (3rd, 12th, 21st and 30th) giving us four separate examples of 3:3:3 numerology, which can be interpreted as meaning 'Awaken your Avatar' as well as 'creating heaven on earth'. Because December is the 12th month, the digits again reduce to '3' when added together, so the same 3:3:3 numerology applies on 3rd, 12th, 21st and 30th December 2019. These dates will all offer amplified energies for manifesting our hopes and dreams.  Full details on the numerology are detailed in the separate section below.

Most healers are aware of the Sacred and Ancient Law of Three, examples being:

    • The Trinity of Father, Son and Spirit or Isis (Aset), Osiris (Ausar), Horus (Heru);
    • The composition of matter: Carbon, Oxygen, Hydrogen;
    • The components of man: Body, Essence, Personality or Mind, Body, Spirit.

The number three is also mentioned in the Emerald Tablets of Thoth (Tehuti) as follows:

    • Three is the Mystery come from the Great One: One God, One Truth, One Point of Freedom
    • Three are the Paths of the Soul: Man, Liberty, Light.
    • Three are the Qualities of God in his Light home: Infinite Power, Infinite Wisdom, Infinite Love.

As this 3:3:3 numerology gives us 3 x 3s, this amplifies the sacred spritual energy exponentially.

myAvatar2010 was the last '3 year'. That was the year when I saw the film Avatar and was struck by some very deep resonances within the storyline (though I personally think the film would have been improved by at least 30 mins less battle combat scenes). This is something that my sister (angel author Angela McGerr) and I work with (via the Sacred Eden Tree, original archetypal tree from the Garden of Eden), through which much global and planetary healing can be disseminated. Most people would not understand this concept at all, so in a way, films like Avatar sew the seeds for this being not such a challenging idea!  Of course Avatar, though it has come to mean in techno speak representation of self as a chosen archetype (or even via a Caricature - see mine above left courtesy of avatar maker), as defined by is original Sanskrit meaning, was the representation/incarnation of a Deity via a human or animal body, so in the film both definitions are combined with the idea of an idealised/perfected template of self.

By Awakening our Avatar, we can become masters of our destiny. Just imagine what we can do by tuning in 'en masse' at 3 (am or pm would work, though I fancy pm will be more popular!) on any of these 3:3:3 portals.

If you would like to join in on a 3:3:3 celebration, I am running a 3:3:3 virtual 'Awaken Your Avatar' guided meditation via Zoom on 12th December, which is another 3-3-3 numerology. the evnt will start at 3pm UK time (GMT/UT) for 33 minutes, the cost is £13.33. See Awaken Your Avatar on Harmony Healing website for details and to book. The Awaken Your Avatar meditation involves working with the Violet flame of transmutation to identify and overcome what is holding you back from achieving your full potential.

Oak tree lying in state HC 2009Interestingly, in 2009, my other sister (garden designer and counsellor, Fiona  Stephenson), was awarded a Gold Medal for her RHS Hampton Court Show Garden entitled Oak Tree Lying in State (image right) which was all about showing reverence for nature.

Featured in the Telegraph at the time, the newpaper article singled out the best 'sustainable' garden as follows "the intriguing and original Oak Tree: Lying in State by Fiona Stephenson, which has as its focus a century-old oak tree trunk lying on its side on top of a floral red carpet, surrounded by oak saplings".

This year I have been training as a Forest Bathing+ Guide. Part of the training has involved studying the plethora of evidence that being in nature, particularly in ancient woodland, is undeniably beneficial for our wellbeing.

An earlier Show Garden of Fiona's, Growing Together in 2007, was a collaboration with the RHS (Royal Horticultual Society) and pyschologists from the University of Essex. The parties involved studied the wellbeing impact of spending just three minutes in the specially designed healing garden and the results were incredible. Fiona and I are planning a new initiative to explore wellbeing through nature therapy; exploring garden settings as well as woodlands.

See this Lost Generation You Tube video link for a thought-provoking (1 minute 50 seconds) presentation on the need for global responsibility.  This was also, synchronistically, first uploaded in 2010.

On Tuesday 3rd December, 7.30 - 10pm there will be a healing share at Harmony Healing, see my Surrey meet-up for details.

If you can't join us on the 3rd December but would like to join in on a 3:3:3 celebration, I am running a 3:3:3 virtual 'Awaken Your Avatar' meditation via Zoom on 12th December, which is another 3:3:3 numerology, at 3pm UK time (GMT/UT) for 33 minutes, the cost is £13.33. See Awaken Your Avatar on Harmony Healing website for details and to book.  The Awaken Your Avatar meditation involves working with the Violet flame of transmutation to identify and overcome what is holding you back from achieving your full potential.

  • Easter Monday, 2nd April 2018

Sunrise from Isis TempleMonday 2nd April is Easter Monday, which is Bank holiday in the UK.  In Egypt, the ancient festival of Sham El Nassim (literally meaning "smelling of the breeze") dates back to Pharonic times (about 2700 BC) although it is celebrated on the Coptic Easter Monday. It's not seen as a religious festival as it's a National Holiday for both Egyptian Christians and Muslims. Traditional activities include painting eggs, picnicking, and eating feseekh (fermented mullet).

  • Easter Sunday (or Pagan Eostre?), 21st April 2019

Sunday 21st April is Easter Sunday, which is generally taken to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus three days after his crucifixion. Intriguingly, Easter Sunday is not a set date but is calculated according to the Lunar cycle, being the next Sunday after the first Full Moon following the Vernal (Spring) Equinox, so it can move around between 22nd March and 25th April. This points to the celebration being linked to an earlier Pagan celebration, which were all associated with seasons and moon cycles; further corroborative evidence being the name Easter – derived from the Pagan Goddess Eostre; the Easter Egg – reminiscent of the Pagan egg to symbolise fertility and the Easter Bunny – a variation on the Pagan Hare, another ancient symbol of fertility and with a 28 day gestation period very linked to the lunar cycle. In Ancient Egypt the hare is a hieroglyph meaning ‘existence’.

Hare Triscol by Jackie MorrisInterestingly, the hare has alleged associations with the alchemical symbol for tin (Jupiter/luck) and is strongly represented in ancient world mythology as having divine qualities. Its elusiveness and erratic behaviour, particularly at night, have reinforced its reputation as a magical creature, with mystical links to the female cycle and to the moon which governed it.

Intriguingly, a famous symbol of three interlocking hares chasing each other around a circle has been found in various parts of the UK, particularly Devon, and indeed all over the world. Known as the hare triscol, only three ears are shown yet, due to clever positioning, they each seem to have two. Looking on the internet for an image to use, I came across this fabulously vibrant version by children's book illustrator Jackie Morris  (link to website) who graciously granted permission for me to use it for an article I wrote in 2011 when it was the Chinese New Year of the Golden Hare (or Rabbit).  I love the intense blue and the way the moon is represented as both Full and New. Simply stunning!  Thanks Jackie.  Anyone finding the whole hare triscol concept fascinating, might like to check out the Three Hares Project website.

  • Equinox Alder Super Full Moon, Thursday 21st March 2019

Moon Scarletts shotThursday 21st March @ 01.43 (Wednesday day night/Thursday morning) is Equinox Alder Full Moon.  It's also the third and final of three consecutive Supermoons.

A Supermoon is when the moon appears larger in the sky because it is reaches the closest proximity to Earth (known as the perigee*) coinciding with the New Moon or Full Moon. Since the New Moon is only a sliver to the naked eye, the Full Moon Supermoons are much more of a visual treat, when the moon may appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than on any other Full Moon occasion. Although it may not seem all that noticeable to us and of course it will depend on good clear viewing conditions; however due to an optical illusion, it will always look bigger and more luminous when closer to the horizon.

*The moon orbits around the Earth in an ellipse which takes just over 29 days, meaning that it reaches points in the year when it is at its closest (perigee, when it is about 363,000 km away) and furthest (apogee, when it is about 405,500 KM) from our planet. Those old enough might be reminded of Bed Knobs and Broomsticks when Angela Lansbury mentions the perigee and  apogee in one of her invocations!

On 14th November 2016, the moon reached its closest to the Earth since 26th January 1948 and it won't come closer to us until 25th November 2034! More at Earthsky Website.

If you are an angel fan, the angel of the Moon is Gabriel.

To the left is a beautiful image of Gabriel by Richard Rockwood from my sister Angel McGerr's A Harmony of Angels book (and Harmony Angel Cards).

Both are out of print and collectible but we still have a few remaining copies via the Harmony Shop.

See link for instructions on Angela's Angelic Meditation with Gabriel.

At the time of the Full Moon the Sun and Moon are in opposition.  The solar (sun) energy influences our masculine/yang archetypal attributes (our outer world) such as strength, courage, identity, self-esteem, expression, conscious beliefs and determination together with our logical outlook.  Whereas the lunar energy (moon) influences our femininely archetypal attributes (our inner world), such as our unconscious beliefs, hidden emotions, nurturing feelings, creativity and intuition. The Full Moon is a powerful and appropriate time to show gratitude for life and the riches and bounty bestowed upon us by Mother Earth (Gaia).

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, this is the Alder Moon.  At this time of year the Alder is prominent and flourishing on the river banks, with its roots dipping in the water, offering itself up as a magical bridge between heaven and earth. Known as Fearn (pronounced Faerin) it is associated with Faerie Magic; an ideal time for spiritual decision-making relating to divination and prophesy, as well as for honing our intuitive skills. Alder twigs and flowers are well known charms in Faerie Lore, with Alder shoots being used to make whistles and flutes to commune with the air elementals. More about this at thoughtco.com. Being very close to the Equinox, the Alder Moon will carry the frequency of balance and harmony embodied by the Equinox when light and dark are in perfect balance.  Interestingly, this is also the remit of Cassiel, who is the Angelic Guardian of Saturday, and as this Full Moon falls on a Saturday we can expect this to boost the harmonising effect.

The time between any Full Moon and the next New Moon is a good time, energetically, to detox the body. I recommend an oil pulling technique, with coconut oil, which must be from a glass container for best taste.

Today is also a 3:3:3 numerologically.  See the Awaken Your Avatar Blog entry beneath.

  • Equinox Easter Alder Blue Full Moon, Saturday 31st March 2018

IMG 8443 archway with supermoon 1st jan 2018Saturday 31st March @ 13.37 is Equinox Easter Full Moon. It's also the Alder Moon.

Being the 2nd Full Moon in the calendar month of March, by the newer definitions it is a Blue Moon.

By the same definition there was another Blue Moon two months ago when we had Full Moons on the 2nd (image showing Full Moon over Kew Gardens is on the right) and 31st January. A Synodic Month (the time between two Full Moons) is 29.53 days on average, so it's more usual to have one per month, but if the month is long and there is a full moon at the very beginning (as happened this January and March) then we get two. The next Blue Moon by this definition will be in 2020!  It's rare to get two Blue Moons in the same calendar year; it last happened in 1999 and will next happen in 2037!

February did not have a Full Moon at all, making it a Black Moon month, although confusingly this can also refer to the 2nd New Moon in a calendar month or a month with no New Moon!  February is the only month when this can happen, especially in years when it only has 28 days.

The old definition of a Blue Moon was when there were four Full Moons, rather than the usual three, in an Astronomical Seasons. Spring begins on the spring equinox; Summer begins on the summer solstice; Autumn (Fall) begins on the autumn equinox; and Winter begins on the winter solstice. Known as the four Albans, these are four of the important eight festivals of the Pagan/Celtic/Gaelic Calendar. This moon does not constitute a Blue Moon by that definition.

Because Blue Moons (by either definition) are unusual - the last one before the 31st January this year was 31st July 2015 - the expression 'once in a blue moon' has come to mean something happening on rare occasions.  The moon can in fact appear blue in colour too, when the atmosphere is filled with smoke or dust particles of wider than 0.7 micron, which sometimes happens after a forest fire, volcanic eruption (such as Krakatoa, Indonesia in 1883) or dust storms.

Alder twigs and flowers are well known charms in Faerie Lore, with Alder shoots being used to make whistles and flutes to commune with the air elementals. More about this at the Celtic Weirdness website I happily stumbled upon.

As it's Easter this weekend too, this moon will carry the energy of the Pagan Deity Eostre (the ancient Pagan ceremony upon which I believe the Easter celebration was superimposed, see my post for Easter Sunday for more); representing fertility and associated with the Pagan Hare, another ancient symbol of fertility and with a 28 day gestation period very linked to the lunar cycle. In Ancient Egypt the hare is a hieroglyph meaning ‘existence’.

The time between any Full Moon and the next New Moon is a good time, energetically, to detox the body.  In view of this being a Super Blue Blood Imbolc Moon, I would say it's an even better time than usual for a detox.  I recommend an oil pulling technique, with coconut oil, which must be from a glass container for best taste.

  • Feast of Francis of Assisi, Thursday 4th October

Bartolomeo painting of St Francis of asisi

Thursday 4th October is the Feast of Francis of Assisi in the Christian Calendar, so it is appropriate that it is also World Animal Day since St Francis is the Patron Saint of Animals and the Environment. It is a popular date for animals to be blessed.

St Francis, who founded the Catholic Church’s Franciscan order, lived in Italy between approximately 1181 and 1226. He is remembered for his love for animals and nature and his generosity to the poor, as well as well as his willingness to minister to the lepers.

St Francis was cannonised (pronounced a Saint), shortly after his death (in 1228) by Pope Gregory IX. The Pope also laid the foundation stone for the Basilica of St Francis d'Assisi, Italy, which is a UNESCO world heritage site. See timeanddate.com and Wikipedia (where the image to the left was found) for more.

  • Festival of the Three Marys, 24th May 2018

Thursday 24th May is the Romani and Christian Festival of the Three Marys at Sainte-Maries-de-la-Mar, on the south coast of France.  Here landed Mary Magdalene, Mary Jacob (the sister of Mother Mary known in the Catholic faith as Our Lady) and Mary Salome (mother of James and John). A local Chieftain, Sara the Kali, had a vision of their arrival and by spreading her cloak over the rough sea ensured their safe arrival.

map of the camargueSaine-Maries-de-la-Mar (Saint Marys of the Sea) is the capital of the Camargue (Provençal Occitan  Camarga) in the south of France. Interestingly, it is noted on the Wikipedia page, from where this map was taken [courtesy of ChrisO (Public domain), via Wikimedia Commons], that the village was noted as "Ra" in the 4th century AD by the Roman geographer Rufus Festus Avienus. Ra being the Ancient Egyptian Deity also known as the Sun God, this could reinforce the idea that Mary Magdalene was actually of Egyptian origin (possibly from the southern area of Nubia, where the native people are very dark skinned) and could also have been the revered Black Madonna.

  • Friday 10th April, Good Friday in the Christian Calendar

Antonio Ciseris depiction of Ecce Homo with Jesus and Pontius Pilate 19th centuryFriday 10th April is the Christian Festival of Good Friday, which is a Bank Holiday in the UK as part of the Easter break. Whereas the Easter celebration in the UK is based on the Gregorian Calendar, the Orthodox Easter celebrations are based on the Julian Calendar and this year that places Orthodox Easter a full week after the UK Bank Holidays will take place.

Good Friday commemorates the Day when Jesus was crucified.

It was not called ‘Good Friday’ until the 4th Century and may be a corruption of God’s Friday.

This Facebook Live Video from a previous year introduces some concepts which will be presented on the Blog entry for Easter Sunday

By keeping traditions, Christian communities retained a sense of harmony and connection, thereby bringing balance and wellbeing into their lives.

Joanna's Harmony Healing activities are aimed at bringing harmony and wellbeing into your life. For a reminder of Joanna's Harmony Healing events, some of which may be available as virtual courses, see this recent Harmony Healing Summer UpdateSome downloadable healing meditations have been prepared for use during and after lockdown. On 22nd April 2020, there's also an Equilibium Attunement (this linked page also explains what to expect from an attunement) available for £44.44.

Currently, due to Coronavirus, most events will be virtual hence distant readings and healings are proving popular. I don't recommend giving a reading or healing to another person, without first checking whether it would be welcomed.

A summary of featured events throughout this month is available here: April Celestial Forecast.

  • Friday 19th April, Willow Full Moon

    Moon Scarletts shot

Friday 19th April @ 12.12 is the Easter Willow Full Moon.

Between Full Moon and the next New Moon is considered as a good time energetically for detoxing the body.

If you are an angel fan, the angel of the Moon is Gabriel. See link for instructions on Angela's Angelic Meditation with Gabriel.

To the right is a beautiful image of Gabriel by Richard Rockwood from my sister Angel McGerr's A Harmony of Angels book (and Harmony Angel Cards).

Both are out of print and collectible but we still have a few remaining copies via the Harmony Shop.

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, this is the Willow Moon.  At this time of year, Europeans can expect the best conditions for healthy growth of the Willow, namely lots of rain!  Known as Saille (pronounced Sahl-yeh) it is associated with healing and growth. Willows planted close to your home are reputed to provide protection from flooding, storms and other natural disasters, even warding away other dangers. More about this at the Celtic Weirdness website I happily stumbled upon.  This may be why they are often planted in cemeteries. Willow month is the time to work on healing rituals, building esoteric knowledge, studying women's mysteries and nurturing yourself and others.   Also see thoughtco.com.

The time between any Full Moon and the next New Moon is a good time, energetically, to detox the body. I recommend an oil pulling technique, with coconut oil, which must be from a glass container for best taste.

  • Friday 24th May, Festival of the Three Marys

Friday 24th May is the Romani and Christian Festival of the Three Marys at Sainte-Maries-de-la-Mar, on the south coast of France.

  • Friday 28th February, Kissing Friday

Kissing Friday by DarkWorkX from PixabayFriday 28th February is Kissing Friday. The days leading up to and into Lent were Collop Monday, Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, Fritter Thursday and Kissing Friday (source: Lia Leendertz's2020 Almanac).

According to historic.co.uk, this bizarre custom was especially popular in the Victorian and Edwardian period and only died out in the mid-20th century. Although unthinkable these days, a schoolboy could kiss a girl on this day without fear of repercussions. The image of a kissing sculpture by DarkWorkX is free for commercial use via Pixabay Licence

Of course, first of all the girl had to be caught and in some instances this involved tying ropes across the street and passing girls would have to pay a kiss for safe passage across the rope. Others would simply chase the girls until they caught them. Indeed, Kissing Fridaywas also the one day every year when girls could leave school early, to avoid being chased home by the boys.

In the Leicershire village of Sileby, this day was called Nippy Hug Day. Here, if the girl actively resisted a kiss, the boy could 'louse' (pinch) her bottom, a disturbing reference to the action of pinching off lice.

Similarly, in areas of Cumbria, the day was known as Nippy Lug Day, where the custom involved pinching the ears.

The date of Lent - which takes place in either February or March but always seven weeks before Easter - varies from year to year according to the lunar calendar which determines when Easter falls. The fact that Lent, and indeed Easter, are determined by the lunar calendar tends to suggest that they were superimposed over Pagan celebrations.

The Council of Nicaea, in 325 AD, approved a 40-day fast duration to celebrate Lent. This was the time period during which Constantine was striving for a harmonious union between the Christians and Pagans within the Roman Empire.

The start date of Lent was still under debate even after the Council of Nicaea. Pope Gregory, in 601, moved the commencement of Lent to Ash Wednesday (from the fourth Sunday of the year); this being 46 days before Easter. This allowed for 40 days of fasting with the six Sundays counting as feast days, making a total of 46 days for Lent. The tradition of using ashes to create the shape of a cross on parishioners foreheads was also instigated by Pope Gregory.

    See bibleinfo.com, beaconoftruth.com, plant-lorecom websites for references.

By partaking in old traditions such as Kissing Fridaycommunities retain a sense of harmony and connection, thereby bringing balance and wellbeing into their lives.

  • Friday 4th October, Feast of Francis of Assisi

Bartolomeo painting of St Francis of asisi

Friday 4th October is the Feast of Francis of Assisi in the Christian Calendar, so it is appropriate that it is also World Animal Day since St Francis is the Patron Saint of Animals and the Environment.

  • Friday 5th June, Hawthorn Full Moon & Penumbral Eclipse (& Angelic Meditation)

Moon Scarletts shotFriday 5th June @ 20.12 UK time(GMT/UT+1; click here to convert to your time zone) is the Hawthorn Full Moon. It's also a Penumbral Lunar eclipse. The eclipse will be at least partially visible in Asia, Australia, Europe and Africa. It will be visible in London between 21.01 and 22.04, with maximum effect at 21.06 when the entire moon is above the horizon, at this point it might even turn a darker shade.  However, penumbral eclipses are not always easy to discern at all.

This is the first of a series of three eclipses, with an annular solar eclipse 21st June and another penumbral lunar eclipse on 5th July. More details at timeanddate.com.

Even if we can't see much (or anything at all from some parts of the globe) there will still be an effect energetically. Tonight, Friday 5th June, we are holding the next Virtual Harmony Healing Circle, 7.30-9.30pm £11 (half price to VFoA & RSE graduates).

This eclipse falls in the 16th degree of Sagittarius.  Eclipses are said to warn us that things may not be as they seem. Reflection on alternative meanings could be advisable. Childhood issues may come up for clearing and we could be feeling vulnerable a few days either side, especially as our political environment could be making folks feel vulnerable anyway.  Astrologer Lisa Mendes says:

"Over the next 18 months or so, expect the spotlight to move from family dynamics and childhood traumas and wounds, to fall on how we make decisions and/or moral calls (faith vs reason) and discern fact from fiction when it comes to navigating the Information Age. Do we truly think logically when we make important political decisions, for example, or do we default  to deeply-held belief systems or become overly reliant on commonly-held assumptions? Elon Musk is quoted as saying that one way we can very quickly unplug from the matrix and start thinking independently is to question all assumptions and go back to first principles - not a bad idea, especially in an era where psychological manipulation and cyber warfare by stealth is mostly how elections are won."

See Lisa's astrologysphere.com website for more. For those interested in the impact of eclipses on their personal zodiac, Lisa offers complementary video 'eclipse-scopes' to her subscribers, you can sign up at her astrology sphere online shop.

The Full Moon is a powerful and appropriate time to show gratitude for life and the riches and bounty bestowed upon us by Mother Earth (Gaia).

The Moon shines due to its surface reflecting the Sun's rays. A lunar eclipse takes place when the Earth moves between the Sun and the Moon thereby blocking some or all of the Sun's light from reaching to the Moon. A penumbral lunar eclipse occurs when there is an imperfect alignment between the Sun, Earth, and the Moon; causing the Earth to block some of the Sun's light from reaching the Moon's surface. This covers all (or part of) the Moon with the outer edge of its shadow, which is also known as the penumbra. The penumbra is considerably fainter than the dark core of the Earth's shadow; hence a penumbral eclipse of the Moon is often difficult to distinguish from a normal Full Moon. See timeanddate.com for a detailed explanation.

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, this is the Hawthorn Moon following soon after Beltane. Known as Huath (pronounced Hoh-uh), the plant is prickly with pretty blossoms and is associated masculine energy, fire and fertility; tradition dictating that male potency is high at this time of year.  Hawthorn can be used for magic rituals involving masculine power (it has a raw phallic energy about it), making professional connections and business decisions. The faerie realm are said ti like it, with the fae being particularly attracted when Hawthorns grow together with Ash and Oak. See thoughtco.com.

Other names for a northern hemisphere Full Moon in June are: Strawberry Moon, Lotus Moon, Oak Moon, Cold Moon, Honey Moon, Mead Moon, Full Rose Moon or Long Night’s Moon.

The Strawberry Moon, was so named by the Algonquin tribe because it heralded the perfect time to pick wild strawberries. Indigenous tribes - such as the Native Americans - were much more aligned with lunar cycles (rather than our 'solar' calendar) and used labels to identify each moon with events in nature which coincided. See article in The Telegraph for more on this.

Aligning ourselves with the moon cycle is very therapeutic, hence being aware of the New moon (good for starting new projects) and Full Moon (a good time for bringing projects to a conclusion) is excellent for bringing harmony and wellbeing into our lives.

Harmony Healing activities are aimed at bringing harmony and wellbeing into your life. If you are looking for spiritually enlightening activities during lockdown, Joanna offers distant intuitive readings (past life and/or aura readings) and distant 1-2-1 healings and virtual healing circles. We also have meditations available.

A number of virtual courses are now ready and starting this month, details on Harmony Healing Virtual Events. Currently, due to Coronavirus, most events will be virtual hence distant readings and healings are proving popular. We don't recommend giving a reading or healing to another person, without first checking whether it would be welcomed.

  • Good Friday, 19th April 2019

Antonio Ciseris depiction of Ecce Homo with Jesus and Pontius Pilate 19th centuryFriday 19th April is the Christian Festival of Good Friday, which is a Bank Holiday in the UK as part of the Easter break.

  • Liberalia and St Patrick's Day 2018

st patricks Day by Diane PaganSaturday 17th March is St Patrick’s Day in Eire (Ireland).

St Patrick is credited with converting the Irish back to Christianity which had been abandoned under Roman rule.

Saint Patrick is said to have used the Shamrock (three leaved clover) as a metaphor for the Christian Trinity. According to Wikipedia, the name shamrock comes from the Irish word seamróg, which is derived from the Irish word for clover (seamair) and means simply "little clover" or "young clover".

The Irish Shamrock downloadable image (see left) by Diane Pagan is from her  theimaginationbox.com website, where you will find many other creative projects to celebrate St Patrick's Day.

Saturday 17th March was also Liberalia, this was the Ancient Roman Festival to celebrate the male coming of age!  In view of the statement above that Christianity which had been abandoned under Roman rule, I wonder if there is a connection that when Eire re-converted to Christianity they chose the day of the male coming of age as their date of celebration...

Liberalia was the Roman Feast of Liber Pater (God of wine and fertility, especially seeds) and his consort Libera, and was held three days after the Ides of March (15th). The day was celebrated with ribald songs, processions of priests and elder priestesses - adorned with Ivy - and sacrifices, with masks being hung on trees.

381px Lar romano de bronce M.A.N. Inv.2943 01 Lara God worshipped for CaristiaYoung Roman boys were given a lucky charm by their parents called a bulla praetexta, generally made of gold or leather, which was hung around their necks to ward off evil spirits.

When boys reached puberty (usually aged 14-16) this amulet would be removed and often placed on an altar dedicated to the Lares (Deities protecting the household and family, image right shows a statue of one of the Lares holdng a cornucopia), together with either a lock of the boy's hair or stubble from his first shave. Subsequently mothers' would retrieve them and keep them safe out of superstition, and they would be used for protection if the son was ever in public office or in a role involving any danger.

Later in the ceremony the rites of passsage would continue with the fathers' taking their sons to the Forum to be presented as adult citizens, now with full adult rites including eligibilty to vote (if he met the statutory requirements of the time) and the authority to wear the pure white adult toga, as well as to marry.  See Romeacrosseurope.com for more information.

  • Mary Magdalene Day, Sunday 22nd July 2018

TINTORETTO Magdalena penitente Musei Capitolini Roma 1598 1602 copiaSunday 22nd July was celebrated in the First Book of Common Prayer, 1549, as Saint Mary Magdalene’s Day in the Christian calendar.  When the Second Book of Common Prayer was published 3 years later in 1552, this feast day, amongst others was omitted. Early celebrations of Mary Magdalene's Feast Day included marriage symbolism such as creating your own healing oil blends "for the marital bed”, probably including oils such as rose, sandalwood, and ylang ylang.  Apparently the original feast day venerated her as a representative of the perfect wife (church liturgy recommended readings such as Proverbs 31:10-31), so it is a day to celebrate the Sacred Feminine, maybe plant something, sew something, cook something and, of course, love something.

Image left is TINTORETTO's Magdalena Penitente, 1598-1602, dispalyed at Musei Capitolini, Rome, Italy.
