  • Awaken Your Avatar, 21st & 30th March 2019

Moon Scarletts shotThursday 21st March & Saturday 30th March are both 3-3-3s numerologically, for which I've chosen the theme Awaken Your Avatar; which is basically a suggestion that we consolidate our internal conflict (balance our masculine/feminine, home/work-life, even positive/negative personality traits) and focus on connecting with our inner knowing (Higher Self) which we all hold within.  This means opening the heart and working toward integrating the Higher Self (spiritual aspects) and Lower Self (basic functional needs) to create an enlightened being (Avatar).

2019 is a '3' year in numerology (2+0+1+9 = 12, then 1+2 =3), March is the third month and we have four dates this month where the digits add up to three (3rd, 12th, 21st and 30th)' giving us four separate examples of 3:3:3 numerology, which can be interpreted as meaning 'awaken your avatar' as well as 'creating heaven on earth'.  These dates will offer amplified energies for manifesting our hopes and dreams.  Full details on the numerology are detailed in the separate section below.

2010 was the last '3 year'. That was the year when I saw the film Avatar and was struck by some very deep resonances within the storyline (though I personally think the film would have been improved by at least 30-45 mins less battle combat scenes). The blue skin of the Na'vi is interesting (Ptah, the Egyptian Deity, is depicted with blue skin and it is said that the beings from Sirius have blue skin), but I particularly like the way the Na'vi understood the inter-relationship between species and the need to honour all life forms, plus their appreciation of the life force infrastructure network operating via trees!  This is something that my sister (Angela McGerr) and I work with (via the Sacred Eden Tree, original archetypal tree from the Garden of Eden), through which much global and planetary healing can be disseminated.  Most people would not understand this concept at all, so in a way, films like Avatar sew the seeds for this being not such a challenging idea!  Of course Avatar, though it has come to mean in techno speak representation of self as a chosen archetype (or even via a Caricature), as defined by is original Sanskrit meaning, was the representation/incarnation of a Deity via a human or animal body, so in the film both definitions are combined with the idea of an idealised/perfected template of self.

By Awakening our Avatar, we can become masters of our destiny.  Just imagine what we can do by tuning in 'en masse' at 3.33 (am or pm would work, though I fancy pm will be more popular!) on any of these 3:3:3 portals. I will be undertaking a meditation between 3 - 3.33, hopefully on all of these dates, but certainly on the 3rd and 30th, please tune-in if you are available.  Close your eyes at a convenient time, which could be 3pm in your local time or the equivalent of 3pm GMT (when we will be meditating), or, if this is not possible, then invoke Eth, the angelic Guardian of time, to bend time so that you can join us etherically.  Send your positive intentions for awakening your Avatar and also for seeing the planet healed, to create for ourselves the next golden age.  See this Lost Generation You Tube video link for a thought-provoking (1 minute 50 seconds) presentation on the need for global responsibility.  This was also, synchronistically, first uploaded in 2010.

Thursday 21st March @ 01.43 (Wednesday night/Thursday morning) is Equinox Alder Full Moon. Its also the third and final of three consecutive Supermoons; see the separate Blog entry above for more.

  • Equinox Alder Super Full Moon, Thursday 21st March 2019

Moon Scarletts shotThursday 21st March @ 01.43 (Wednesday day night/Thursday morning) is Equinox Alder Full Moon.  It's also the third and final of three consecutive Supermoons.

A Supermoon is when the moon appears larger in the sky because it is reaches the closest proximity to Earth (known as the perigee*) coinciding with the New Moon or Full Moon. Since the New Moon is only a sliver to the naked eye, the Full Moon Supermoons are much more of a visual treat, when the moon may appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than on any other Full Moon occasion. Although it may not seem all that noticeable to us and of course it will depend on good clear viewing conditions; however due to an optical illusion, it will always look bigger and more luminous when closer to the horizon.

*The moon orbits around the Earth in an ellipse which takes just over 29 days, meaning that it reaches points in the year when it is at its closest (perigee, when it is about 363,000 km away) and furthest (apogee, when it is about 405,500 KM) from our planet. Those old enough might be reminded of Bed Knobs and Broomsticks when Angela Lansbury mentions the perigee and  apogee in one of her invocations!

On 14th November 2016, the moon reached its closest to the Earth since 26th January 1948 and it won't come closer to us until 25th November 2034! More at Earthsky Website.

If you are an angel fan, the angel of the Moon is Gabriel.

To the left is a beautiful image of Gabriel by Richard Rockwood from my sister Angel McGerr's A Harmony of Angels book (and Harmony Angel Cards).

Both are out of print and collectible but we still have a few remaining copies via the Harmony Shop.

See link for instructions on Angela's Angelic Meditation with Gabriel.

At the time of the Full Moon the Sun and Moon are in opposition.  The solar (sun) energy influences our masculine/yang archetypal attributes (our outer world) such as strength, courage, identity, self-esteem, expression, conscious beliefs and determination together with our logical outlook.  Whereas the lunar energy (moon) influences our femininely archetypal attributes (our inner world), such as our unconscious beliefs, hidden emotions, nurturing feelings, creativity and intuition. The Full Moon is a powerful and appropriate time to show gratitude for life and the riches and bounty bestowed upon us by Mother Earth (Gaia).

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, this is the Alder Moon.  At this time of year the Alder is prominent and flourishing on the river banks, with its roots dipping in the water, offering itself up as a magical bridge between heaven and earth. Known as Fearn (pronounced Faerin) it is associated with Faerie Magic; an ideal time for spiritual decision-making relating to divination and prophesy, as well as for honing our intuitive skills. Alder twigs and flowers are well known charms in Faerie Lore, with Alder shoots being used to make whistles and flutes to commune with the air elementals. More about this at thoughtco.com. Being very close to the Equinox, the Alder Moon will carry the frequency of balance and harmony embodied by the Equinox when light and dark are in perfect balance.  Interestingly, this is also the remit of Cassiel, who is the Angelic Guardian of Saturday, and as this Full Moon falls on a Saturday we can expect this to boost the harmonising effect.

The time between any Full Moon and the next New Moon is a good time, energetically, to detox the body. I recommend an oil pulling technique, with coconut oil, which must be from a glass container for best taste.

Today is also a 3:3:3 numerologically.  See the Awaken Your Avatar Blog entry beneath.

  • Equinox Easter Alder Blue Full Moon, Saturday 31st March 2018

IMG 8443 archway with supermoon 1st jan 2018Saturday 31st March @ 13.37 is Equinox Easter Full Moon. It's also the Alder Moon.

Being the 2nd Full Moon in the calendar month of March, by the newer definitions it is a Blue Moon.

By the same definition there was another Blue Moon two months ago when we had Full Moons on the 2nd (image showing Full Moon over Kew Gardens is on the right) and 31st January. A Synodic Month (the time between two Full Moons) is 29.53 days on average, so it's more usual to have one per month, but if the month is long and there is a full moon at the very beginning (as happened this January and March) then we get two. The next Blue Moon by this definition will be in 2020!  It's rare to get two Blue Moons in the same calendar year; it last happened in 1999 and will next happen in 2037!

February did not have a Full Moon at all, making it a Black Moon month, although confusingly this can also refer to the 2nd New Moon in a calendar month or a month with no New Moon!  February is the only month when this can happen, especially in years when it only has 28 days.

The old definition of a Blue Moon was when there were four Full Moons, rather than the usual three, in an Astronomical Seasons. Spring begins on the spring equinox; Summer begins on the summer solstice; Autumn (Fall) begins on the autumn equinox; and Winter begins on the winter solstice. Known as the four Albans, these are four of the important eight festivals of the Pagan/Celtic/Gaelic Calendar. This moon does not constitute a Blue Moon by that definition.

Because Blue Moons (by either definition) are unusual - the last one before the 31st January this year was 31st July 2015 - the expression 'once in a blue moon' has come to mean something happening on rare occasions.  The moon can in fact appear blue in colour too, when the atmosphere is filled with smoke or dust particles of wider than 0.7 micron, which sometimes happens after a forest fire, volcanic eruption (such as Krakatoa, Indonesia in 1883) or dust storms.

Alder twigs and flowers are well known charms in Faerie Lore, with Alder shoots being used to make whistles and flutes to commune with the air elementals. More about this at the Celtic Weirdness website I happily stumbled upon.

As it's Easter this weekend too, this moon will carry the energy of the Pagan Deity Eostre (the ancient Pagan ceremony upon which I believe the Easter celebration was superimposed, see my post for Easter Sunday for more); representing fertility and associated with the Pagan Hare, another ancient symbol of fertility and with a 28 day gestation period very linked to the lunar cycle. In Ancient Egypt the hare is a hieroglyph meaning ‘existence’.

The time between any Full Moon and the next New Moon is a good time, energetically, to detox the body.  In view of this being a Super Blue Blood Imbolc Moon, I would say it's an even better time than usual for a detox.  I recommend an oil pulling technique, with coconut oil, which must be from a glass container for best taste.

  • Equinox Full Vine Moon, Tuesday 25th September 2018

Tuesday 25th September @ 03.54 is Pagan Equinox Full Vine Moon (Monday night/Tuesday Morning).

If you are an angel fan, the angel of the Moon is Gabriel.

To the left is a beautiful image of Gabriel by Richard Rockwood from my sister Angel McGerr's A Harmony of Angels book (and Harmony Angel Cards).

The Full Moon is a powerful and appropriate time to show gratitude for life and the riches and bounty bestowed upon us by Mother Earth (Gaia).

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, and associated each with a tree; this is the Vine Moon(thoughtco.com). All over the northern hemisphere, at this time of year, the fruits of vine are ripe for harvesting and ready for the first stages of wine production. The vine is a symbol of passionate emotions whether expressing either joy or wrath. The Celts called the month Muin (Neopagans call it Mabon) and typical celebrations would include magical workings connecting with gardens involving both ends of the emotional spectrum (such as exhilaration and rage) acknowledging also the darker aspects of the Mother Goddess. Vine leaves can be used to enhance goals and ambitions. This year, being very close to the Equinox, the Vine Moon will carry the frequency of balance and harmony embodied by the Equinox when light and dark are in perfect balance.

Other names for a Full Moon in September are: Fruit Moon, Harvest Moon (Northern Hemisphere) or Worm Moon, Sugar Moon, Chaste Moon, (Southern Hemisphere). Names for the moon can also relate to the season, so this Equinox Moon could also be called the Harvest Moon, or Hunter’s Moon, Frosty Moon, Beaver Moon (after the autumnal equinox)or Grass Moon, Egg Moon, Planting Moon, or Milk Moon, Rose Moon, Flower Moon, or Strawberry Moon (after the spring equinox). Source = earthsky.org.

The time between any Full Moon and the next New Moon is a good time, energetically, to detox the body.  In view of this being an Equinox Full Moon (where the focus is on balance), I would say it's an even better time than usual for a detox.  I recommend anoil pulling technique, with coconut oil, which must be from a glass container for best taste.

    Beaver Full Moon image

Monday 27th November is the Beaver Full Moon meditation, peaking at 09:16.

Although the eclipse won't be visible in UK, it will still affect us energetically.  According to London Astrologer Tanya Cohen:

Between this Full Moon date and the next New Moon is considered as a good time energetically for detoxing the body. I recommend an oil pulling technique, with coconut oil, which must be from a glass container for best taste.

If you are an angel fan, the angel of the Moon is Gabriel. Click here for Angela McGerr's Full Moon Angelic Meditation with Gabriel from my sister Angel McGerr's A Harmony of Angels book which is long out of print and collectible but we still have a few remaining copies via the Harmony Shop.

18 Nov FULL MOON MeditationWe will hold our monthly Full Moon meditation tonight, Monday 27th November at 7.30-9.30pm (UK time = GMT). Participants all receive a deeply healing experience.

During these monthly sessions, we connect with other like-minded people and together we work through a mindful chakra balancing process using colours and etheric crystals, with the aim that all participants will experience a degree of unity consciousness.

This activity serves as a good taster of my work in general and the virtual format of our Zoom based programme. And, most importantly, it's a step towards making a difference to the global predicament. Cost to participate is £20 by online BACS payment (small admin fee added for PayPal) or half price to RSE graduates. Book at the Harmony Shop.

The Native American tribes named each moon to keep track of the months and seasons. The November Moon is called the Beaver Moon,as this is when they bulid their dams. There isn't a standardised system however, as some tribes took a year to be 12 moon cycles, whilst others went with 13 moon cycles. Similarly some tribes worked with five seasons per year whereas others went with four. This was noted as the month when game fattens. See more at timeanddate.com.

Although the Celts, wth their Druid priests, were believed to have revered nature, the idea that they also had tree names for each Full Moon of the year, is neo-Pagan, having been introduced by Robert Graves in the 1948, which I find rather charming. So, according to Robert Graves's imaginings, this is the Reed Moon(thoughtco.com). Samhain (Halloween, 31st October) has passed, and the year is coming to a close. Reeds were used by the Celts to make wind instruments and at this time of year, as the wind blows through the dying reeds (they die back in winter), and the resulting eerie haunting sound was thought to be the souls of the departed on their final journey to the underworld. The Celts called this month Negatal (pronounced nyettle) and it's a time for magical relating to spirit guides, meditation, energy work and honouring the cycle of life - birth, death and re-birth.  It's also a good time for scrying and divination. The neo pagans sometimes refer to this month by it's alternative name of Elm Moon.

Other names for a Full Moon in November are: Frost Moon, Hunter's Moon, Mourning Moon or Flower Moon, (Southern Hemisphere). Names for the moon can also relate to the season, so this Full Moon could also be called the Harvest Moon, or Hunter’s Moon, Frosty Moon, Beaver Moon (after the autumnal equinox)or Grass Moon, Egg Moon, Planting Moon, or Milk Moon, Rose Moon, Flower Moon, or Strawberry Moon (after the spring equinox). Source = earthsky.org.

Aligning ourselves with the moon cycle is very therapeutic, hence being aware of the Full Moon (a good time for bringing projects to a conclusion) and the New moon (good for starting new projects) is excellent for bringing balance and wellbeing into our lives. The next annual New Year New Moon New Vision lunar cycle study course will run 11th January to 9th/10th February 2023 and will cost £177 (£155 if booked before the year ends).

Through Harmony Healing, Joanna offers a wider spectrum of events designed to nurture your welbeing. If you are looking for regular spiritually enlightening activities which help to connect you with the lunar cycle, we have our monthly Full Moon Guided Healing Meditations. Similarly some tribes worked with five seasons per year whereas others went with four. Some Native Americans identified this as the Harvest Moon as it heralded the end of the summer season, when the crops were gathered. At this time, the Moon rises early and appears particularly bright, allowing farmers to continue harvesting into the night. See more at timeanddate.com.

The December Moon is caled the Cold Moon,as its considered the month when winter starts in the northern hemisphere. There isn't a standardised system however, as some tribes took a year to be 12 moon cycles, whilst others went with 13 moon cycles. Similarly some tribes worked with five seasons per year whereas others went with four. See more at timeanddate.com.

Although the Celts, wth their Druid priests, were believed to have revered nature, the idea that they also had tree names for each Full Moon of the year, is neo-Pagan, having been introduced by Robert Graves in the 1948, which I find rather charming. So, according to Robert Graves's imaginings, this is the Elder Moon (thoughtco.com). The Elder Moon marks a time of passing. The Elder bush damages easily but bursts back into life recovering promptly and so it is representing the coming New Year. The Celts called this month Ruish (pronounced roo-esh) and it's a time for renewal, rejuvenation and creativity, endings and beginnings and therefore still honouring the cycle of life - birth, death and re-birth.  Elder is used in magic lore to connect with the Faerie realms and nature spirits and is reputed to protect against negative entities.

Other names for a Full Moon in December are: Frost Moon, Hunter's Moon, Moon before Yule, Long Night Moon (Northern Hermisphere). Names for the moon can also relate to the season, so this Full Moon could also be called the Harvest Moon, or Hunter’s Moon, Frosty Moon, Beaver Moon, Moon Before Yule or Long Night Moon (after the autumnal equinox)or Old Moon, Moon after Yule, Snow Moon, Hunger Moon, Wolf Moon, Sap Moon, Crow Moon or Lenten Moon (after the winter solstice). Source = earthsky.org,which also includes a link detailing names from other ancient cultures at  lunarphasepro.com

Aligning ourselves with the moon cycle is very therapeutic, hence being aware of the Full Moon (a good time for bringing projects to a conclusion) and the New moon (good for starting new projects) is excellent for bringing balance and wellbeing into our lives.  I have a lunar alignment course running at he moment, the next lunar cycle study course will be in 2022. We are running a New Year New Vision mentoring programme through the first full lunar cycle of 2022. This includes distant attunements to the Moon (New Moons on 2nd January and 1st February plus Full Moon on 17th January), plus a ritual with the elements on the Imbolc ceremony (1st February) and ending on the Chinese New Year of the Tiger (1st February). Costing £155, more on the below You Tube video and at the Harmony Website.

  • Saturday 28th October, Hunter Full Moon @ 21:29 (Meditation at 19.30 UK time), UK clocks go back

21 Sep Harvest Equinix Full MoonSaturday 28th October @ 21:29 is the Hunter Full Moon.  Also known as the Blood Moon, there's a partial lunar eclipse visible to those in Europe, Africa, much of Asia and western Australia, details at EarthSky.com

Between this date and the next New Moon is considered as a good time energetically for detoxing the body.

20 Sep FULL MOON MeditationAs the peak of the Full Moon is at 21:29 we will hold the meditation on Saturday 28th October at 7.30-9.30pm (UK time = GMT+1). Participants all receive a deeply healing experience.

This month, bookings close at 5pm on Saturday 28th October. Book at the Harmony Shop.

The Native American tribes named each moon to keep track of the months and seasons. The Full Moon nearest to the Equinox is the Hunter Moon (also an Anglo-Saxon term), Harvest Moon(it can be in September or October) or Blood Moon. There isn't a standardised system however, as some tribes took a year to be 12 moon cycles, whilst others went with 13 moon cycles. Similarly some tribes worked with five seasons per year whereas others went with four. This was noted as the month when game fattens. Traditionally, this month would have been used for hunting, slaughtering and preserving meats for the coming winter months. Other names are Travel Moon and Dying Grass Moon. Some also called it Blood Moon or Sanguine Moon, which also refers to the hunting season. See more at timeanddate.com.

Although the Celts, wth their Druid priests, were believed to have revered nature, the idea that they also had tree names for each Full Moon of the year, is neo-Pagan, having been introduced by Robert Graves in the 1948, which I find rather charming. So, according to Robert Graves's imaginings, this is the Ivy Moon(thoughtco.com). Samhain (Halloween, 31st October) is approaching and the year is coming to a close. The Ivy Moon marks the end of the harvest season, when most of the plants have withered but the evergreen Ivy carries on (even when its host has died), reminding us of the ongoing circle of life - life, death and rebirth. The Celts called the month Gort (pronounced go-ert) and it is seen as a time to banish fear and negativity from your life. Protect yourself from people, products and activities that are toxic to you. Ivy can be used in magical ceremonies for protection, healing, co-operation and for binding lovers together.

Other names for a Full Moon in October are: Harvest Moon, Hunter's Moon, Blood Moon (not to be confused witht a term for a Total Lunar Eclipse) or Sanguine Moon (Northern Hemisphere) or Egg Moon, Fish Moon, Seed Moon, Pink Moon, Waking Moon, (Southern Hemisphere). Source = earthsky.org.

isis with sampleSaturday 28th October is the Egyptian celebration of Isia, marking the 7 days that Aset (Isis) spent searching for the body parts of Asar (Osiris) following his death and dismemberment by his brother Set. It's therefore energetically a good date to start a new quest.

This culminates on Thursday 3rd November with Hilaria, when she resurrected him by re-membering him; no doubt contributing to the definition of our word remember meaning to recall someone from memory.

Informative posters of Isis, as per the sample shown here, are by Jacqui Taliesin El Masry (from Alkhemi). Laminated versions of this and other Egyptian Posters by Jacqui, are available to purchase from the Harmony Shop.

Ancient Egyptian Traditional festivals like this helped local communities feel connected, bringing balance and harmony into people's lives.

Aligning ourselves with the heavenly bodies, and particularly the moon cycle, is very therapeutic, hence being aware of the Full Moon (a good time for bringing projects to a conclusion) and the New moon (good for starting new projects) is excellent for bringing balance and wellbeing into our lives.

31 October BST to GMTSaturday 28th October, clocks go back tonight in the UK.

We’re currently on British Summer Time (BST), which means tonight we we move he clocks back to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

UK clocks go back on the final Sunday of October, with the change offically coming into effect at 2.00am.

The purpose of changing of the clocks, is to give us an extra hour of daylight in the darkness of autumn and winter.

Interestingly, GMT is the standard time zone against all others in the world are referenced, and it will remain in place until the following spring, when it reverts back to BST again. This takes place at 1.00am on the final Sunday of March, which is 26th March in 2023.

It never ceases to amaze me that the World Time is based on the UK. I suppose that is a testament to the power of the British Empire when it was decided to formally co-ordinate time across the globe. Indeed, it was Sir George Airey, in 1851, who was responsible for the prime meridian being based at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, in London, England. Amongst the 25 nations represented at the International Meridian Conference, hosted at Washington DC, the location of ‘zero longitude’ being centred at Greenwich was decided by popular vote. However, France abstained and for several decades thereafter French maps continued to refer to the Paris meridian.

Although there is no scientific evidence to support the practice of DST (Daylight Saving Time) in he summer, it does seem that aligning ourselves with extra sunshine helps to bring balance and wellbeing into our lives.

Harmony Healing activities are aimed at bringing harmony and wellbeing into your life. We have programmes designed to help you keep aligned with our natural environment and the movements of our planet, communities retained a sense of harmony and connection.

  • Tuesday 8th November, Beaver Full Moon & Total Lunar Eclipse peaks at 11:02 UK time/GMT & Meditation at 7.30pm tonight

    Beaver Full Moon image

Tuesday 8th November is the Beaver Full Moon meditation. The Full Moon peaks at 11:02. It's also a total lunar eclipse; the second one this year as we had one in May and it will be the last one until 2025. It will be visble in Asia, Australia, North America, parts of northern and eastern Europe, and most of South America. More at timeanddate.com.

Although the eclipse won't be visible in UK, it will still affect us energetically.  According to London Astrologer Tanya Cohen:

Tuesday’s Lunar Eclipse in Taurus is super powerful because the Moon in Taurus is exactly Conjunct Uranus, the planet of revolutionary change and great awakenings.  This is a prime time for releasing past grievances and old patterns of behaviour.  It’s interesting because Taurus and Scorpio are fixed signs which have a tendency to hold on, but at the same time Uranus is pushing for change. This is creating a bit of an energetic push and pull.

These are challenging but transformative times. Rather than living in fear, the advice from the cosmos is to step out of our comfort zone, embrace the many changes that are coming our way and remember that whatever we resist tends to persist! The Sagittarian New Moon on 23rd November will close the current eclipse portal and bring some welcome relief. This is when our faith and joie de vivre will start to return.

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, and associated each with a tree; this is the Birch Moon (learnreligions.com). The Celts called this month Beth (pronounced beh). The Birch Moon is linked with rebirth and regeneration, with growing light following the Winter Solstice here is the Northern Hemisphere. After forest fires (sadly there have been way too many of these internationally), Birch is the first tree to regrow. The birch is also associated with healing, protection and creative magic, especially regarding fertility. To keep sacred writings safe, they would be written on Birch bark. A red ribbon tied around the trunk of a Birch tree is said to ward off negative energy and a Birch twig can be hung over a cradle for psychic protection for a new born.
