FullMoon

  • Sunday 13th October is the Full Ivy Moon @ 22.10.

If you are an angel fan, the angel of the Moon is Gabriel.

To the left is a beautiful image of Gabriel by Richard Rockwood from my sister Angel McGerr's A Harmony of Angels book (and Harmony Angel Cards).

Both are out of print and collectible but we still have a few remaining copies via the Harmony Shop.

See link for instructions on Angela's Angelic Meditation with Gabriel.

At the time of the Full Moon the Sun and Moon are in opposition. The solar (sun) energy influences our masculine/yang archetypal attributes (our outer world) such as strength, courage, identity, self-esteem, expression, conscious beliefs and determination together with our logical outlook.  Whereas the lunar energy (moon) influences our femininely archetypal attributes (our inner world), such as our unconscious beliefs, hidden emotions, nurturing feelings, creativity and intuition. The Full Moon is a powerful and appropriate time to show gratitude for life and the riches and bounty bestowed upon us by Mother Earth (Gaia).

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, and associated each with a tree; this is the Ivy Moon(thoughtco.com). Samhain (Halloween, 31st October) is approaching and the year is coming to a close. The Ivy Moon marks the end of the harvest season, when most of the plants have withered but the evergreen Ivy carries on (even when its host has died), reminding us of the ongoing circle of life - life, death and rebirth. The Celts called the month Gort (pronounced go-ert) and it is seen as a time to banish fear and negativity from your life. Protect yourself from people, products and activities that are toxic to you. Ivy can be used in magical ceremonies for protection, healing, co-operation and for binding lovers together.

Other names for a Full Moon in October are: Harvest Moon, Hunter's Moon (Northern Hemisphere) or Egg Moon, Fish Moon, Seed Moon, Pink Moon, Waking Moon, (Southern Hemisphere). Names for the moon can also relate to the season, so this Full Moon could also be called the Harvest Moon, or Hunter’s Moon, Frosty Moon, Beaver Moon (after the autumnal equinox)or Grass Moon, Egg Moon, Planting Moon, or Milk Moon, Rose Moon, Flower Moon, or Strawberry Moon (after the spring equinox). Source = earthsky.org.

The time between any Full Moon and the next New Moon is a good time, energetically, to detox the body. As avoiding toxins is recommended for the Ivy Moon, detoxing might also be advisable. I recommend anoil pulling technique, with coconut oil, which must be from a glass container for best taste.

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, and associated each with a tree; this is the Reed Moon (thoughtco.com). Reeds were used by the Celts to make wind instruments and at this time of year, as the wind blows through the dying reeds (they die back in winter), and the resulting eerie haunting sound was thought to be the souls of the departed on their final journey to the underworld. The Celts called this month Negatal (pronounced nyettle) and it's a time for magical relating to spirit guides, meditation, energy work and honouring the cycle of life - birth, death and re-birth.  It's also a good time for scrying and divination. The neo pagans sometimes refer to this month by it's alternative name of Elm Moon.

Other names for a Full Moon in November are: Hunter's Moon, Frosty Moon, Beaver Moon (Northern Hemisphere) or Corn Moon, Milk Moon, Flower Moon, Hare Moon (Southern Hemisphere). Names for the moon can also relate to the season, so this Full Moon could also be called the Harvest Moon, or Hunter’s Moon, Frosty Moon, Beaver Moon, Moon before Yule or Long Night Moon (after the autumnal equinox)or Grass Moon, Egg Moon, Planting Moon, or Milk Moon, Rose Moon, Flower Moon, or Strawberry Moon (after the spring equinox). Source = earthsky.org.

  • Saturday 30th March -  a gentle reminder that this is the final 3-3-3 numerology for this month, for which I've chosen the theme Awaken Your Avatar; which is basically a suggestion that we consolidate our internal conflict (balance our masculine/feminine, home/work-life, even positive/negative personality traits) and focus on connecting with our inner knowing (Higher Self) which we all hold within.  This means opening the heart and working toward integrating the Higher Self (spiritual aspects) and Lower Self (basic functional needs) to create an enlightened being (Avatar). Below is a recap of the 3-3-3 numerology and theme for this third month.

2019 is a '3' year in numerology (2+0+1+9 = 12, then 1+2 =3), March is the third month and so there are four dates this month where the digits add up to three (3rd, 12th, 21st and 30th) giving us four separate examples of 3:3:3 numerology, which can be interpreted as meaning 'awaken your avatar' as well as 'creating heaven on earth'. The same 3:3:3 numerology will apply on 3rd, 12th, 21st and 30th December 2019. These dates will all offer amplified energies for manifesting our hopes and dreams.  Full details on the numerology are detailed in the separate section below.

myAvatar2010 was the last '3 year'. That was the year when I saw the film Avatar and was struck by some very deep resonances within the storyline (though I personally think the film would have been improved by at least 30-45 mins less battle combat scenes). The blue skin of the Na'vi is interesting (Ptah, the Egyptian Deity, is depicted with blue skin and it is said that the beings from Sirius have blue skin), but I particularly like the way the Na'vi understood the inter-relationship between species and the need to honour all life forms, plus their appreciation of the life force infrastructure network operating via trees!  This is something that my sister (Angela McGerr) and I work with (via the Sacred Eden Tree, original archetypal tree from the Garden of Eden), through which much global and planetary healing can be disseminated.  Most people would not understand this concept at all, so in a way, films like Avatar sew the seeds for this being not such a challenging idea!  Of course Avatar, though it has come to mean in techno speak representation of self as a chosen archetype (or even via a Caricature - see mine left courtesy of avatar maker), as defined by is original Sanskrit meaning, was the representation/incarnation of a Deity via a human or animal body, so in the film both definitions are combined with the idea of an idealised/perfected template of self.

By Awakening our Avatar, we can become masters of our destiny.  Just imagine what we can do by tuning in 'en masse' at 3.33 (am or pm would work, though I fancy pm will be more popular!) on any of these 3:3:3 portals. I will be undertaking a meditation between 3 - 3.33, hopefully on all of these dates, but certainly on the 3rd and 30th, please tune-in if you are available.  Close your eyes at a convenient time, which could be 3pm in your local time or the equivalent of 3pm GMT (when we will be meditating), or, if this is not possible, then invoke Eth, the angelic Guardian of time, to bend time so that you can join us etherically.  Send your positive intentions for awakening your Avatar and also for seeing the planet healed, to create for ourselves the next golden age.

See this Lost Generation You Tube video link for a thought-provoking (1 minute 50 seconds) presentation on the need for global responsibility.  This was also, synchronistically, first uploaded in 2010.

  • Tuesday 3rd December - is the first 3:3:3 numerology for this month, for which I've chosen the theme Awaken Your Avatar; which is basically a suggestion that we consolidate our internal conflict (balance our masculine/feminine, home/work-life, even positive/negative personality traits) and focus on connecting with our inner knowing (Higher Self) which we all hold within. This means opening the heart and working toward integrating the Higher Self (spiritual aspects) and Lower Self (basic functional needs) to create an enlightened being (Avatar).  I have an online meditation, aimed at identifying and overcoming what is holding you back from achieving your full potential, you can join on 12th December (which is another 3:3:3) - see below for details.

Below is a recap of the 3:3:3 numerology and theme for this month.

2019 is a '3' year in numerology (2+0+1+9 = 12, then 1+2 =3), March was the third month and so there were four dates back in March where the digits added up to three (3rd, 12th, 21st and 30th) giving us four separate examples of 3:3:3 numerology, which can be interpreted as meaning 'Awaken your Avatar' as well as 'creating heaven on earth'. Because December is the 12th month, the digits again reduce to '3' when added together, so the same 3:3:3 numerology applies on 3rd, 12th, 21st and 30th December 2019. These dates will all offer amplified energies for manifesting our hopes and dreams.  Full details on the numerology are detailed in the separate section below.

Most healers are aware of the Sacred and Ancient Law of Three, examples being:

    • The Trinity of Father, Son and Spirit or Isis (Aset), Osiris (Ausar), Horus (Heru);
    • The composition of matter: Carbon, Oxygen, Hydrogen;
    • The components of man: Body, Essence, Personality or Mind, Body, Spirit.

The number three is also mentioned in the Emerald Tablets of Thoth (Terhuti) as follows:

    • Three is the Mystery come from the Great One: One God, One Truth, One Point of Freedom
    • Three are the Paths of the Soul: Man, Liberty, Light.
    • Three are the Qualities of God in his Light home: Infinite Power, Infinite Wisdom, Infinite Love.

As this 3:3:3 numerology gives us 3 x 3s, this amplifies the sacred spritual energy exponentially.

myAvatar2010 was the last '3 year'. That was the year when I saw the film Avatar and was struck by some very deep resonances within the storyline (though I personally think the film would have been improved by at least 30 mins less battle combat scenes). If you would like to join in on a 3:3:3 celebration, I am running a 3:3:3 virtual 'Awaken Your Avatar' guided meditation via Zoom on 12th December, which is another 3-3-3 numerology. the evnt will start at 3pm UK time (GMT/UT) for 33 minutes, the cost is £13.33. See Awaken Your Avatar on Harmony Healing website for details and to book. The Awaken Your Avatar meditation involves working with the Violet flame of transmutation to identify and overcome what is holding you back from achieving your full potential.

Oak tree lying in state HC 2009Interestingly, in 2009, my other sister (garden designer and counsellor, Fiona  Stephenson), was awarded a Gold Medal for her RHS Hampton Court Show Garden entitled Oak Tree Lying in State (image right) which was all about showing reverence for nature.

Featured in the Telegraph at the time, the newpaper article singled out the best 'sustainable' garden as follows "the intriguing and original Oak Tree: Lying in State by Fiona Stephenson, which has as its focus a century-old oak tree trunk lying on its side on top of a floral red carpet, surrounded by oak saplings".

This year I have been training as a Forest Bathing+ Guide. Part of the training has involved studying the plethora of evidence that being in nature, particularly in ancient woodland, is undeniably beneficial for our wellbeing.

An earlier Show Garden of Fiona's, Growing Together in 2007, was a collaboration with the RHS (Royal Horticultual Society) and pyschologists from the University of Essex. The parties involved studied the wellbeing impact of spending just three minutes in the specially designed healing garden and the results were incredible. Fiona and I are planning a new initiative to explore wellbeing through nature therapy; exploring garden settings as well as woodlands.

On Tuesday 3rd December, 7.30 - 10pm there will be a healing share at Harmony Healing, see my Surrey meet-up for details.

If you can't join us on the 3rd December but would like to join in on a 3:3:3 celebration, I am running a 3:3:3 virtual 'Awaken Your Avatar' meditation via Zoom on 12th December, which is another 3:3:3 numerology, at 3pm UK time (GMT/UT) for 33 minutes, the cost is £13.33. Thursday 21st March @ 01.43 (Wednesday night/Thursday morning) is Equinox Alder Full Moon. Its also the third and final of three consecutive Supermoons; see the separate Blog entry above for more.

  • Supermoon 2014 08 10 22 04 16Monday 30th April @ 01.59 (Sunday Night, early Monday morning) is Beltane Full Moon. It's also the known as the Pink Moon, Egg Moon, Fish Moon or Willow Moon

The Pink Moon, was so named by the Native American tribes, not because it appears pink but because it is associated with the pink flowers which are abundant in the USA and Canada at this time of year. Different tribes label it as the Egg Moon because of its association with egg-laying season and others identify it with the shad (a species of herring) swimming season so called it the Fish Moon.See article in The Telegraph for more on this.

Similarly, the Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year. This is Saille (pronounced Sahl-Ye); the  Willow Moon. The willow grows best when there's plenty of rain (we've seen plenty here in the UK in the last few days) and is associated with healing, nurturing, knowledge-building and women's mysteries. Willows planted near your home are supposed to protect from danger; weeping willows soak up lots of water so I can see how this could help protect from excessive rain and storm damage! They are often planted near cemeteries.  More about this at the Celtic Weirdness website, which I stumbled across earlier this year.

And in Buddhist tradition, this is also Wesak. The first Full Moon in Taurus (though some sources say the first Full Moon in May) is celebrated in honour of the enlightenment of Buddha and his passing into Nirvana. This is the spiritual high point of the year, when all the illuminated beings invoke a great blessing for the earth.

These dates will all offer amplified energies for manifesting our hopes and dreams.

Tuesday 3rd December is Joanna's Surrey Healing share, in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey. 7.30-10 pm (folks can leave anytime after 9.30). Cost is £10 in advance, £15 on the door. The 3:3:3 numerology made it a natural choice for a healing share.

Wednesday 4th December is the Roman Festival of Bona Dea, this being a smaller festival that the one celebrated on 1st May but similarly for women only.  In Roman mythology, Bona Dea (literally "the good goddess") was the goddess of fertility, healing, virginity, and women. She was the daughter of the god Faunus and was associated with supplying medicinal healing herbs in her temple garden. Bona Dea was also invoked for freedom from slavery; many of her worshippers were freed slaves and plebeians, and many were women seeking aid in sickness or for fer

Thursday 12th December, as well as being the Full Moon, is also the second 3-3-3 numerology for this month, for which I've chosen the theme Awaken Your Avatar ; which is basically a suggestion that we consolidate our internal conflict. This involves balancing our masculine/feminine, home/work-life, even positive/negative personality traits, and focussing on connecting with our inner knowing (Higher Self) which we all hold within. These dates will all offer amplified energies for manifesting our hopes and dreams.

Thursday 12th December, at 3.33pm (UK time is GMT/UT) for 33 minuites, is my Awaken Your Avatar online programme via Zoom. Cost to participate is £13.33 per person. See Awaken Your Avatar on Harmony Healing website for details and to book.  The Awaken Your Avatar meditation involves working with the Violet flame of transmutation to identify and overcome what is holding you back from achieving your full potential.

    Geminid image from Earthsky website

Friday 13th - Saturday 14th December is the peak of the Geminid Meteor Shower. The Geminids are considered by many to be the best annual meteor shower and are known for producing multicoloured meteors 65% being white, 26% yellow, and the remaining 9% blue, red and green. Rates typically peak at 100-120/hour; this high activity lasts for several hours. It is certainly possible to see 80-100 Geminids in a single hour, but only from a dark site! The Geminid Meteor Shower is expected to peak in activity on the night of December 13th-14th, although some meteors should be visible from December 7th – 21st. The radiant point for this shower will be in the constellation Gemini. Best viewing is usually to the east after midnight. The Full Moon on the 12th December will, however, hamper viewing due to light pollution. Go to Earthsky Website for further information.

    Saturnalia statue by Ernesto Biondi

Tuesday 17th December is the Roman Festival of Saturnalia. This was the popular banquet commemorating the dedication of the temple of the god Saturn. It was marked by tomfoolery and reversal of social roles, in which slaves and masters ostensibly switched places. The image showing the Statue of Saturnalia by Ernesto Biondi, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is taken from Wikipedia as are the aditional details below.

The holiday was celebrated with a sacrifice at the Temple of Saturn, in the Roman Forum, and a public feast, continual partying with private gift-giving, gambling and a celebratory atmosphere that reversed the usual Roman social norms with masters provided table service for their slaves. The poet Catullus referred to it as "the best of days."

Saturn was an agricultural deity who, in Roman Mythology, was associated with the Golden Age, when humans enjoyed the spontaneous bounty of the earth without labour in a state of innocence.

Thursday 17th December is the Harmony Healing Past Lives Workshop with Past Life mini-readings, Walton-on-Thames, Surrey.

Wednesday 18th & Thursday 19th December (two consecutive days, 10-15am - 7.15pm) is the Harmony Healing Reyad Sekh Em (RSE) Egyptian Alchemy Healing 2-day Introductory course (£200), in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey.

Saturday 21st December is the third 3-3-3 numerology for this month, for which I've chosen the theme Awaken Your Avatar; which is basically a suggestion that we consolidate our internal conflict. This involves balancing our masculine/feminine, home/work-life, even positive/negative personality traits, and focussing on connecting with our inner knowing (Higher Self) which we all hold within. This also means opening the heart and working toward integrating the Higher Self (spiritual aspects) and Lower Self (basic functional needs) to create an enlightened being (Avatar). 2019 is a '3' year in numerology (2+0+1+9 = 12, then 1+2 =3), December is the 12th month, where the digits add up to 3 (as they did in March being the third month).  Hence the 3rd, 12th, 21st and 30th December provide four individual examples of 3:3:3 numerology, which can be interpreted as meaning 'Awaken your Avatar' as well as 'creating heaven on earth'. These dates will all offer amplified energies for manifesting our hopes and dreams.

pagan wheelSunday 22nd December is the Pagan Solstice @ 04.20 (Saturday night/Sunday morning). It's the Winter Solstice here in the UK - the shortest day of the year with just 7 hours and 49 minutes daylight. The solstice itself is the moment the sun is shining farthest to the south, directly over the Tropic of Capricorn, so the time varies every year, between December 20th and 23rd.

The solstice has been celebrated as a major Pagan festival, with rituals of rebirth, for thousands of years. Revellers gather at Stonehenge to watch the sunrise on the shortest day. Then, in the Northern Hemisphere, our days will gradually get longer until the summer solstice on Saturday 20th June 2020.

Many of the traditions now associated with Christmas had their roots in Pagan Winter Solstice celebrations; including Yule logs, mistletoe and Christmas trees. The Druids  - an ancient Celtic order of priests, teachers, diviners and magicians who gleaned knowledge and enlightenment from sacred landscapes and ancient trees such as ‘Tutorial Oaks’ - used evergreen trees, holly and mistletoe to represent everlasting life. Druids would consider the cutting of trees as an offence against nature, but would decorate them with colourful rags tied on the branches.

Sunday 22nd December, 3-4.30 pm, Winter Sound Bath (Sound Journey for your Soul with Susan Lorraine), £20 pp, held at 1st Weybridge Scout Hut, Springfield Lane, Weybridge. See www.sacredsound777.com (not listed as a secure site) or contact Susan on 07709 850 543for details.

Wednesday 25th December is the Christian Festival of Christmas, commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ.

This is also the Fasli Zoroastrian Calendar is Zartosht-no Diso, commemorating the anniversary of the death of the prophet Zarathustra.

Moon Scarletts shot squareThursday 26th December@ 05.15 (Wednesday night, Thursday morning) is the Solstice New Moon and annular solar eclipse. An annular eclipse of the sun is where the edges of the sun still remains visible as a bright ring around the moon. A solar eclipse happens whenever the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, hence partly or totally obscuring the Sun for anyone viewing from Earth. This eclipse will not be visible in London but will affect all of us energetically.  More about this eclipse at timeanddate.com.

The New Moon Abundance Ritual should be carried out within 24 hours after the New Moon. It needs to be after the New Moon because the moon should be waxing (getting bigger again) to carry the manifestation energy. There are video instructions on my You Tube Page.

The New Moon is great time to create Vision Boards, how about creating none for 2020.

Thursday 26th December is St Stephen’s Day in the Christian Calendar, also known as Boxing Day.

Monday 30th December is the final 3-3-3 numerology for this month, for which I've chosen the theme Awaken Your Avatar; ; which is basically a suggestion that we consolidate our internal conflict. Below is a recap of the 3-3-3 numerology and theme for this month.

Tuesday 31st December is New Year's Eve and Hogmanay in Scottish tradition. Many Scots had to work over Christmas because celebrations were virtually banned in Scotland for around 400 years, from the end of the 17th century to the 1950s.  The Protestant Reformation led to the Presbyterian outlook, branding Christmas as a Popish or Catholic feast which was therefore prohibited.  As a result, their winter solstice celebrations took place at New Year when family and friends gathered for a party and exchange presents, especially for the children, which came to be called Hogmanay. Historians believe that the Vikings who, coming from even further north than the UK, paid strong attention to the passing of the shortest day and hence may have initiated the post-Solstice celebrations.

There is no definitive view on the origins of the word Hogmanay. Many Scottish words have derived from Flemish, so one popular view is that Hogmanay came from hoog min dag which means great love day, whereas the Scandinavian word Hoggo-nott described the feast preceding Yule (itself a Scandinavian word commonly used in Shetland where the Scandinavian influence was strongest).

Alternatively, Hogmanay could source from the Anglo-Saxon, Haleg monath, Holy Month, or the Gaelic for new morning, oge maidne. Phonetically, a good candidate night be the similar sounding French expression Homme est né which means Man is born. Also, in France the last day of the year when gifts were exchanged was aguillaneuf, though specifically in Normandy presents given at the year-end were hoguignetes.

In Scotland a similar practice to that in Normandy was noted, rather disapprovingly, by the Church.

"It is ordinary among some Plebians in the South of Scotland, to go about from door to door upon New Year`s Eve, crying Hagmane." Scotch Presbyterian Eloquence, 1693.

Common Scottish practices on 31st December, before midnight, involve a thorough cleaning of the house (including taking out the ashes from the coal fire) plus the superstition to clear all your debts. Immediately after midnight, the long-held tradition to sing Robert Burns's For Auld Lang Syne has now evolved into a popular international custom.

Many areas of Scotland often developed their own local Hogmanay rituals such as the fireball swinging rituals in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, in northeast Scotland. Chicken wire structures - filled with old newspaper, sticks, rags, and other dry flammable material  - are attached to lengths of wire, chain or non-flammable rope. When the Old Town House bell marks the New Year, the balls are set alight and the celebrants set off along a heritage route, swinging the burning balls around their heads as they go. At the end of the ceremony, any fireballs that are still burning are cast into the harbour.

Wednesday 1st Januaryis New Year’s Day and is a Bank Holiday in the UK and time for New Year’s Resolutions!

Wednesday 1st – Sunday 5th January (peaking on the 3rd, 4th January) is the Quadrantids Meteor Shower; visible from 1st – 5th January after midnight and peaking in the early hours of the 4th.  Typically, 40 or so bright, blue and fast (25.5 miles per second) meteors will radiate from the constellation Bootes, some blazing more than halfway across the sky. A small percentage of them leave persistent dust trains. This shower usually has a very sharp peak, usually lasting only about an hour.

The particles that cause the Quadrantid meteor show originate from the asteroid 2003 EH1 an asteroid that is probably a piece broken off from an obsolete comet. Since the orbit of 2003 EH1 is highly inclined to the orbit of the Earth, the Earth passes through it very quickly. Thus, the Quadrantid meteor shower is an extremely short one, lasting only a few hours.  With the recent New Moon on Thursday 26th December, there should't be too much light pollution.  See earthsky.orgfor more details.

Friday 1st Novemberstarts the first month of the Celtic Year, calledSamonios - 'Seed Fall'. Again this mirrors the death/rebirth cycle of Asar (Osiris).

It is thought that two Roman festivals became incorporated with Samhain - 'Feralia', when the Romans commemorated the passing of the dead, and 'Pomona', when the Roman goddess of fruit and trees was honoured. The Halloween tradition of bobbing for apples is thought to derive from the ancient links with the Roman fruit goddess, Pomona, and a Druidical rite associated with water.

This is also All Saints Day in the Christian calendar.

The Samonios image above and text below, by Helen Benigni, are kindly taken with permission from the angelfire.com website.

The month of SAMONIOS is a month of miraculous births beginning with the appearance of the twin stars of Castor and Pollux on the Eastern Horizon. These miraculously born twins, from an egg containing both mortal and immortal potential, bridge the gap between this world and the Otherworld with their appearance on the first quarter moon heralding the Holy Nights of Winter Solstice. Further into the month shortly after the third quarter of the moon, a trio of stars including Rigel, Betelguese, and Castor march across the sky to illiminate this Oenach of light and birth.

Literally translated as "seed fall," SAMONIOS is the month when the light of the Dagda, the seed of his loins, penetrates the womb of the earth and creates life. This light is symbolized by the sunrise of the Winter Solstice penetrating the inner chambers of the sacred mounds of the Neolithic peoples. At Newgrange, the sacred mound of the Bru na Boinne, the light of the Winter Solstice shines through a roof-box of white quartz for seventeen minutes to dramatically illuminate the cruciform chamber of the passage tomb. Here, the stone-carved geometric motifs common to trance states of shamanic ecstasy amplify the light in order that the observer may experience the light of life bestowed by the solar deity.

This solar alignment initiates the light half of the year. Mistletoe is hung as a symbol of the immortal love that the good father, Dagda brought to Boand, the goddess of the Bru na Boinne. Oengus, the son of their union and the Lord of the Sid mound, guards the entrance to the Otherworld and immortal life.

Friday 1st November is also World Vegan Day. In 1994, the event was established by Louise Wallis, then Chair of The Vegan Society, UK, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of coining the terms "vegan" and "veganism" and the founding of the organisation.

Saturday 2nd November is All Souls Day in the Christian calendar, commemorating the ‘faithful departed’.

Sunday 3rd November is Hilaria, the culmination of the Egyptian Festival of Isia, when Isis (Aset) resurrected Osiris (Asar) by re-membering him; no doubt contributing to the definition of our word remember meaning to recall someone from memory.

Tuesday 5th November: Guy Fawkes.  Some sources indicate that this replaced the Samhain Fire Festival, which was transferred in Britain to the night after Guy Fawkes's attempt to blow up parliament in 1605. The ritual burning certainly resembles the Pagan sacrifice of the corn king!

poppies in IrelandMonday 11th November is Armistice Day to commemorate all those who died in World War 1 and 2. Poppies are traditionally used for this.

We also have the annual 11:11 Energy Portal. With many people worldwide recognising the 11th November as a powerful date, this, in itself, will create a heightened energy on the day.

The effect of a high number of people all having positive expectations on the same date, due to the impact of quantum physics, will make it significant.

Sunday 17th & Monday 18th November; it is the Leonid meteors; one of the most prolific meteor showers also known as shooting stars. The shower peaks this year the night of 17th/18th November and 18th/19th November, but you may see some meteors from 14th - 21st November. With the Full Moon on the 12th and the New Moon oin the 26th this is just befoire the quarter moon, so there could be reasonable viewings if the weather stays clear. See Time & Date website or EarthSky Website for more.

Leonid Meteor 2009 by Ed SweeneyFlickrThe Leonids have had occasional periods when hundreds of meteors can be seen, roughly every 33 years, and were especially stunning in 1799, 1833, 1866, 1966 and 1998.  Photo of Leonid Meteor in 2009 by Ed Sweeney at Flickr.

This shower has produce meteor storms in the past, but a Leonid storm is not expected this year. The Leonids are usually modest, with typical peak rates of about 10 to 15 meteors per hour, in the darkness before dawn.

Look for the shower radiating from the constellation Leo after midnight. This meteor stream is associated with Comet Tempel-Tuttle. As the meteors in the stream are thought to be dust particles released from the comet it is thought likely that there is a dense stream of such particles in the path of the comet and located close to it. The Earth's orbit passes close to the comet's orbit each year in November and the Earth collides with these particles of cometary debris following the comet's orbit. According to the EarthSky Website, it is a myth that we need focus only on the radiant point to see Meteors.  In fact it seems they often don’t become visible until they are 30 degrees or so from their radiant point, so they are streaking out from the radiant in all directions.

Thus the Leonid meteors – like meteors in all annual showers – will appear in all parts of the sky.

Thursday 21st Novemberis Thanksgiving in the US calendar. Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday in November (different in Canada) and is a family day and public holiday to express gratitude for one’s material and spiritual possessions.

Saturday 23rd Novemberis the Egyptian celebrationKhoiak andNehebkauonFriday 29th November.  The Egyptian Year was split into three seasons (divided into 4 months of 30 days), commencing with Akhet in early August, then Peret from late November to early April and Shomu from early April until mid July.  Khoiak was a sombre celebration to complete the first season; later associated with the death of Asar (Osiris).  However, it was followed closely byNehebkau - marking the start of the next season Peret - and was seen as a kind of rebirth process.

Friday 29th Novemberis the Egyptian celebrationNehebkau, which literally meant 'he who unites the Kas'; the Ka being the body double which we might interpret as spirit or soul. See Ka image to left.

Nehebkau was depicted in the form of a snake with arms and legs and occasionally wings!  He was yet another Deity associated with protection and magic.

Saturday 30th Novemberis St Andrew’s Day in Scotland.  Saint Andrew is the Patron Saint of Scotland, and St. Andrew's Day is celebrated by Scots around the world on the 30th November. The flag of Scotland is the blue Cross of St. Andrew, and this is widely displayed as a symbol of national identity.

World vegetarian day 2019Tuesday 1st October is World Vegetarian Day.

Established by the North American Vegetarian Society in 1977 and endorsed by the International   Vegetarian Union in 1978, it is a day of celebration "to promote the joy, compassion and life-enhancing possibilities of vegetarianism." It brings awareness to the ethical, environmental, health and humanitarian benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle and hence is a time set aside to raise awareness of the positive effects of a vegetarian lifestyle on “humans, other animals and our shared earth.” See more details on the Awareness.com website, from where the photograph was provided.

World Vegetarian Day marks the start of Vegetarian Awareness Month throughout October, which ends with World Vegan Day on 1st November, marking the end of that month of celebration. Apparently, Vegetarian Awareness Month.

Monday 1st October is Joanna's Surrey Healing share, in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey. 7.30-10 pm (folks can leave anytime after 9.30). Cost is £10 in advance, £20 on the door.

Thursday 3rd October is the Harmony Healing Violet Flame of Amenti (£88 or £44 to RSE graduates) 6-hour course in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey.

Bartolomeo painting of St Francis of asisiFriday 4th October is the Feast of Francis of Assisi in the Christian Calendar, so it is appropriate that it is also World Animal Day since St Francis is the Patron Saint of Animals and the Environment. It is a popular date for animals to be blessed.

St Francis, who founded the Catholic Church’s Franciscan order, lived in Italy between approximately 1181 and 1226. He is remembered for his love for animals and nature and his generosity to the poor, as well as well as his willingness to minister to the lepers.

St Francis was cannonised (pronounced a Saint), shortly after his death (in 1228) by Pope Gregory IX. The Pope also laid the foundation stone for the Basilica of St Francis d'Assisi, Italy, which is a UNESCO world heritage site. See timeanddate.com and Wikipedia (where the image to the left was found) for more.

Monday 7th October, though some sources say Thursday 10th October, is Going Forth of Isis (Aset) in Egyptian Tradition. Apparently, her heart is pleased on this day because 'the heritage is granted to her son Horus (Heru)'.

On this special day, a specially selected team of Priests and/or Priestesses would commence a procession to take their most treasured image or statue of Aset (Isis) to another temple, with many planned stops en route. At each stop a sacred rite would be performed by the Priests/Priestesses and often divinations would be offered.  When the final temple destination was reached, the image or statue would be placed in an honoured location and a joyful fesival celebration would ensue.

Informative posters of Isis, as per the sample shown here, are by Jacqui Taliesin El Masry from Alkhemi.co.uk. Laminated versions of this and other Egyptian Posters by Jacqui, are available to purchase from the Harmony Shop.

Tuesday 8th & Wednesday 9th October, is the Draconids Meteor Shower. The radiant point for the Draconid meteor shower almost coincides with the head of the constellation Draco the Dragon in the northern sky. That’s why the Draconids are best viewed from the Northern Hemisphere, and, surprisingly in the early evening soon after dusk. Draco has been known to spew forth many hundreds of meteors in a single hour.  In 2019, the waxing gibbous moon will not aid viewings of this year’s Draconid shower. The best time to watch is at nightfall and early evening on October 8th and 9th. You can invoke the Angel Zikiel (Angel Guardian of Meteors and Asteroids) to help bring in new ideas. See this Earthsky Website or timeandate.com (image taken from this site) for more.

Sunday 13th October, UFO and Paranormal Conference in Newport, Gwent, Wales. 09.00 - 18.00 hrs at St Mellons Hotel. Joanna is scheduled to speak in the afternoon about the Egyptian pyramids and healing.

Sunday 13th October is the start of Sukkot, the Jewish feast of the Tabernacles, it celebrates the harvest and the preservation of the Israelites in the wilderness.  Jewish feast dates begins at sundown of the night beforehand. Thus all holiday observances begin at nghtfall and this festival ends at nightfall on Sunday 20th October.

Tuesday 15th October is the Roman celebration of October Horse being the Ides of October. The October Ides featured a two-horse chariot race on the Campus Martius.

Wednesday 16th October is World Food Day; a worldwide event designed to increase awareness, understanding and informed, year-around action to alleviate hunger.

This day, declared by the UN General Assembly, aims to heighten public awareness of world food problems and strengthen solidarity in the struggle against hunger, malnutrition and poverty. The theme for World Food Day 2019 is 'Achieving Zero Hunger is not only about addressing hunger'.

Each year, on 16th OctoberConcern Worldwide joins organisations around the world in commemorating World Food Day, marking the day the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) was founded in 1945. Concern Worldwide, whose motto is tackling hunger, transforming lives highlight some incredibly worthy causes on their website, such as the plight of people such as Sallay from Sierra Leone.  Sallay amazingly survived Ebola following a one month battle in hospital, however her struggle is far from over.  She lost Abdul, her husband and companion of 40 years, and her whole community is devastated by the disease. Her family and neighbours were quarantined to help prevent the spread of Ebola, but this resulted in the crops they rely on for food being left to die in the fields. Sallay, and what remains of her community, may have survived Ebola but they now face a life where they have nothing.

The World Farmers' Organisation (WFO) wholeheartedly supports this year's theme, since it reflects a clear intention to highlight important agriculture-related issues and draws attention to achievements in rural development and encourages agricultural food production.  WFO state that in this context, the role played by the farmers is crucial, because farmers play a key role in the process of fighting hunger and finding concrete remedies that address issues affecting food security and nutrition.

Thursday 17th October is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.

The observance of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty can be traced back to 17th October 1987, when over a hundred thousand people gathered at the Trocadéro in Paris.  This was the location where the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was signed in 1948, to honour the victims of extreme poverty, violence and hunger. They proclaimed that poverty is a violation of human rights and affirmed the need to come together to ensure that these rights are respected. These convictions are inscribed in a commemorative stone unveiled on this day.

Since then, every year on 17th October, people of all backgrounds, beliefs and social origins have gathered to renew their commitment and show their solidarity with the poor.

Sunday 20th - Monday 21st October is the peak of the Orionids which is the most prolific meteor shower associated with Halley's Comet and lasts from 15th until 29th October. Image of Halley's Comet on 8th March 1986 (right) is from Wikipedia.

    Halley's Comet image

The Orionids are so-called because they appear to come from, the constellation Orion. In some years, meteors may occur at rates of 50-70 per hour.

Orionid radiant pointThis year, a week after the Full Moon, it could be a disappointing year. In 2019, the annual Orionid meteor shower is expected to rain down the greatest number of meteors before dawn on October 21st, perhaps as many as 20 meteors per hour. But the hours between midnight and dawn on the mornings of October 20th and 22nd may offer a decent sprinkling of meteors as well.

Image of the Orionids salient point (left) is from the EarthSky website where you will also find more details about the event.

The New Moon Abundance Ritual should be carried out within 24 hours after the New Moon. It needs to be after the New Moon because the moon should be waxing (getting bigger again) to carry the manifestation energy. There are video instructions on my You Tube Page.

Moonwisew calendar 2018Thursday 31st October traditionally marks the end of the harvest and the beginning of the Celtic and Pagan New Year. Samhain is Irish-Gaelic for 'the Summer's end', and is pronounced 'sow-in'. Samhain represents the death of the summer sun god, Lugh. This festival celebrates Nature's cycle of death and renewal.  This is traditionally known as Halloween.

Samhain is one of the four Gaelic seasonal festivals; along with Lughnasadh, Imbolc and Beltane.

In the Northern Hemisphere, Samhain heralds the beginning of Winter when the world starts to darken and the days are getting shorter; the 'dark half' of the year and the demise of the sun's uplifting influence.  The crone, personified as Cailleach - the Queen of the Winter - was reborn on every All Hallows Eve, returning to bring the Winter and protect animals through the coldest months. She turned to stone on Beltane Eve, Beltane being 1st May.

  • Full Moon Lantern Festival in Hoi An Vietnam 25th August 2018Saturday 25th August is also the Chinese Hungry Ghost Festival, this is the Buddhist Festival of All Souls or the Festival of Hungry Ghosts, when offerings are made until before the next New Moon (9th September) to spirits who have not yet found rest.

The Hungry Ghost Festival, also known as the Zhongyuan Festival, Takes place on the 15th day of the Ghost Month (which starts at a New moon), so it naturally co-incides with a Full Moon. This is the time when it was traditionally believed that the deceased would visit the living and are roaming in search of food, mischief-making and entertainment; hence it is sometimes referred to as the Chinese Halloween.

In many Far Eastern communities it is a time for big celebrations involving floating lanterns and feasts left out for the invisible visitors. The image to the right, taken by Amber Watkins, shows this year's Full Moon Lantern Festival in Hoi Ann, Vietnam, 25th August 2018.

  • Moon Scarletts shotThursday 21st March @ 01.43 (Wednesday day night/Thursday morning) is Equinox Alder Full Moon.  It's also the third and final of three consecutive Supermoons.

A Supermoon is when the moon appears larger in the sky because it is reaches the closest proximity to Earth (known as the perigee*) coinciding with the New Moon or Full Moon. Since the New Moon is only a sliver to the naked eye, the Full Moon Supermoons are much more of a visual treat, when the moon may appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than on any other Full Moon occasion. Although it may not seem all that noticeable to us and of course it will depend on good clear viewing conditions; however due to an optical illusion, it will always look bigger and more luminous when closer to the horizon.

*The moon orbits around the Earth in an ellipse which takes just over 29 days, meaning that it reaches points in the year when it is at its closest (perigee, when it is about 363,000 km away) and furthest (apogee, when it is about 405,500 KM) from our planet. Those old enough might be reminded of Bed Knobs and Broomsticks when Angela Lansbury mentions the perigee and  apogee in one of her invocations!

On 14th November 2016, the moon reached its closest to the Earth since 26th January 1948 and it won't come closer to us until 25th November 2034! More at Earthsky Website.

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, this is the Alder Moon.  At this time of year the Alder is prominent and flourishing on the river banks, with its roots dipping in the water, offering itself up as a magical bridge between heaven and earth. Known as Fearn (pronounced Faerin) it is associated with Faerie Magic; an ideal time for spiritual decision-making relating to divination and prophesy, as well as for honing our intuitive skills. Alder twigs and flowers are well known charms in Faerie Lore, with Alder shoots being used to make whistles and flutes to commune with the air elementals. More about this at thoughtco.com. Being very close to the Equinox, the Alder Moon will carry the frequency of balance and harmony embodied by the Equinox when light and dark are in perfect balance.  Interestingly, this is also the remit of Cassiel, who is the Angelic Guardian of Saturday, and as this Full Moon falls on a Saturday we can expect this to boost the harmonising effect.

The time between any Full Moon and the next New Moon is a good time, energetically, to detox the body. I recommend an oil pulling technique, with coconut oil, which must be from a glass container for best taste.

Today is also a 3:3:3 numerologically.  See the Awaken Your Avatar Blog entry beneath.

  • IMG 8443 archway with supermoon 1st jan 2018Saturday 31st March @ 13.37 is Equinox Easter Full Moon. It's also the Alder Moon.

Being the 2nd Full Moon in the calendar month of March, by the newer definitions it is a Blue Moon.

By the same definition there was another Blue Moon two months ago when we had Full Moons on the 2nd (image showing Full Moon over Kew Gardens is on the right) and 31st January. A Synodic Month (the time between two Full Moons) is 29.53 days on average, so it's more usual to have one per month, but if the month is long and there is a full moon at the very beginning (as happened this January and March) then we get two. The next Blue Moon by this definition will be in 2020!  It's rare to get two Blue Moons in the same calendar year; it last happened in 1999 and will next happen in 2037!

February did not have a Full Moon at all, making it a Black Moon month, although confusingly this can also refer to the 2nd New Moon in a calendar month or a month with no New Moon!  February is the only month when this can happen, especially in years when it only has 28 days.

The old definition of a Blue Moon was when there were four Full Moons, rather than the usual three, in an Astronomical Seasons. Spring begins on the spring equinox; Summer begins on the summer solstice; Autumn (Fall) begins on the autumn equinox; and Winter begins on the winter solstice. Known as the four Albans, these are four of the important eight festivals of the Pagan/Celtic/Gaelic Calendar. This moon does not constitute a Blue Moon by that definition.

Because Blue Moons (by either definition) are unusual - the last one before the 31st January this year was 31st July 2015 - the expression 'once in a blue moon' has come to mean something happening on rare occasions.  The moon can in fact appear blue in colour too, when the atmosphere is filled with smoke or dust particles of wider than 0.7 micron, which sometimes happens after a forest fire, volcanic eruption (such as Krakatoa, Indonesia in 1883) or dust storms.

If you are an angel fan, the angel of the Moon is Gabriel.

As it's Easter this weekend too, this moon will carry the energy of the Pagan Deity Eostre (the ancient Pagan ceremony upon which I believe the Easter celebration was superimposed, see my post for Easter Sunday for more); representing fertility and associated with the Pagan Hare, another ancient symbol of fertility and with a 28 day gestation period very linked to the lunar cycle. In Ancient Egypt the hare is a hieroglyph meaning ‘existence’.

The time between any Full Moon and the next New Moon is a good time, energetically, to detox the body.  In view of this being a Super Blue Blood Imbolc Moon, I would say it's an even better time than usual for a detox.  I recommend an oil pulling technique, with coconut oil, which must be from a glass container for best taste.

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, and associated each with a tree; this is the Vine Moon(thoughtco.com). All over the northern hemisphere, at this time of year, the fruits of vine are ripe for harvesting and ready for the first stages of wine production. The vine is a symbol of passionate emotions whether expressing either joy or wrath. The Celts called the month Muin (Neopagans call it Mabon) and typical celebrations would include magical workings connecting with gardens involving both ends of the emotional spectrum (such as exhilaration and rage) acknowledging also the darker aspects of the Mother Goddess. Vine leaves can be used to enhance goals and ambitions. This year, being very close to the Equinox, the Vine Moon will carry the frequency of balance and harmony embodied by the Equinox when light and dark are in perfect balance.

Other names for a Full Moon in September are: Fruit Moon, Harvest Moon (Northern Hemisphere) or Worm Moon, Sugar Moon, Chaste Moon, (Southern Hemisphere). Names for the moon can also relate to the season, so this Equinox Moon could also be called the Harvest Moon, or Hunter’s Moon, Frosty Moon, Beaver Moon (after the autumnal equinox)or Grass Moon, Egg Moon, Planting Moon, or Milk Moon, Rose Moon, Flower Moon, or Strawberry Moon (after the spring equinox). Source = earthsky.org.

Friday 19th April @ 12.12 is the Easter Willow Full Moon.

Between Full Moon and the next New Moon is considered as a good time energetically for detoxing the body.

If you are an angel fan, the angel of the Moon is Gabriel. See link for instructions on Angela's Angelic Meditation with Gabriel.

To the right is a beautiful image of Gabriel by Richard Rockwood from my sister Angel McGerr's A Harmony of Angels book (and Harmony Angel Cards).

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, this is the Willow Moon.  At this time of year, Europeans can expect the best conditions for healthy growth of the Willow, namely lots of rain!  Known as Saille (pronounced Sahl-yeh) it is associated with healing and growth. Willows planted close to your home are reputed to provide protection from flooding, storms and other natural disasters, even warding away other dangers. More about this at the Celtic Weirdness website I happily stumbled upon.  This may be why they are often planted in cemeteries. Willow month is the time to work on healing rituals, building esoteric knowledge, studying women's mysteries and nurturing yourself and others.   Also see thoughtco.com.

  • New Moon image cropped toghtFriday 30th August @ 11:37 is the Pagan Dark Moon and this month it's a Black Moon as it's the 2nd New Moon in the same calendar month.  It's also the second of three consecutive New Moon Supermoons when the moon is at it's closest (Perigree) and could 30 per cent brighter and 14 per cent bigger to the naked eye. However as the New Moon is barely visible, we are unlikely to notice any difference.  More at Earthsky.org

It will be at it's brightest when the moon reaches lunar perigee (see note below) at 16.59 UK time, it will be the second and closest New Moon Supermoon of 2019.  Perigee timings are given at Lunarplanner.com.

The Supermoon will also bring about larger than usual perigean spring tides.  In case, like me, you are wondering what spring tides has to do with August, Spring tides are named not for the season, but to represent the sense of bouyancy, bursting forth, rising. They are now also known as Supermoon tidesor King tides.

This New Moon Abundance ritual  should be carried out within 24 hours after the New Moon. There are video instructions on my Harmony Healing Facebook Page

According to Elephantjournal.com in an article from 2018whereas New Moon energy usually last a few days, this intense, life-changing energy of this New Moon trio will remain for the full two month period, from the first Supermoon New Moon on 1st August until the final Supermoon New Moon on 28th September. Those sensitive to energies will feel the heightened charge as extremes of moods, with some sudden unexpected swings. Because Virgo is ruled by Mercury, communications will be intensified, making it advisable to speak carefully to minimise any misunderstandings. Mercury also influences travel plans, vehicles, buying/selling, negotiation, teaching and learning, agreements and contracts.

New Moons are good for setting intentions, so it's a fabulous day for creating a personal or corporate Vision Board for the rest of 2019.  For a list of Joanna's forthcoming Harmony Healing events, see this recent Harmony Healing Event Update

  • Supermoon over London 10 Aug 2014Tuesday 16th July @ 22:39 is the Full Moon and there will be a partial lunar eclipse (in Capricorn) visible at moonrise in London as well as most of the rest of Europe (except the far north), as well as from South America, Africa, Australia and most of Asia. The eclipse will only be seen in North America at the very southern & eastern parts of the continent. At maximum eclipse, well over half the moon will be in shadow. It's the second of two Eclipses which started with a partial solar eclipse on Tuesday 2nd July.

The image to the left shows a Full Moon over Hungerford Bridge, London.

According to London based Astrologer Tanya Cohen "This is a formidable eclipse which will bring everything we’ve been working on, particularly over the past six months, to a head.

With Saturn, Pluto and the South Node (our karmic past) in the mix we’re being encouraged to let go of structures, patterns and fears that may be stunting our growth.  At the same time we’ll have the opportunity to receive cosmic downloads and upgrades to help us enhance our true essence and spiritual wisdom.

With the Sun, Venus and the North Node all in Cancer, emotional liberation and regeneration will be within reach. Bring it on!"

I will be attending a workshop with Tanya on the evening of the eclipse so I'm looking forward to finding out more. There are some further astrological links about the eclipse below.

The Moon shines due to its surface reflecting the Sun's rays. A lunar eclipse takes place when the Earth moves between the Sun and the Moon thereby blocking some or all of the Sun's light from reaching to the Moon. A penumbral lunar eclipse occurs when there is an imperfect alignment between the Sun, Earth, and the Moon; causing the Earth to block some of the Sun's light from reaching the Moon's surface. This covers all (or part of) the Moon with the outer edge of its shadow, which is also known as the penumbra. The penumbra is considerably fainter than the dark core of the Earth's shadow; hence a penumbral eclipse of the Moon is often difficult to distinguish from a normal Full Moon. See timeanddate.com for a detailed explanation.

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, this is the Holly Moon. Holly is an evergreen and reminds us that nature is eternal. The Holly Moon is called Tinne, pronounced chihnn-uh by the Celts, who saw holly as a masculine symbol of firmness. It was used in ancient times to make weapons but was also viewed as a protective wood, hence a sprig in the home is for abundance and safety. See thoughtco.com. No doubt J K Rowling considered this when she chose Harry's wand to be made of Holly.

Other names for a Full Moon in July are: Thunder Moon, Hay Moon (Northern Hemisphere) or Wolf Moon, Old Moon, Ice Moon (Southern Hemisphere). Names for the moon can also relate to the season, so this Full Moon could also be called the Thunder Moon, Hay Moon, Green Corn Moon, Grain Moon, Fruit Moon or Harvest (after the Summer Solstice i.e. Northern Hemisphere) or Old Moon, Moon After Yule, Snow Moon, Hunger Moon, Wolf Moon, Sap Moon, Crow Moon, Lenten  Moon (after the Winter Solstice i.e. Southern Hemisphere). Source = earthsky.org.

Anyway, whatever the weather conditions, it's a fantastic excuse to get people of all ages outside in the fresh air and re-connecting with nature. Something our modern lifestyles and obsession with technology can distract us from doing. Weather permitting, outdoor moon bathing can be very therapeutic, simply breathe the silver energy in and out and, if the mood takes you, undertake an outdoor meditation. It’s a wonderful time to put crystals (don’t put out any soluble crystals if it might rain) outside to be recharged by the lunar energy.

In the UK, this partial lunar eclipse, which is the last lunar eclipse of 2019, the main partial phase lasts from 21:01 to 23:59 (UK time = GMT/UT + 1).

Furthermore, whether the eclipse is visible or not, energetically we are all affected. Astrologically, lunar eclipses illuminate our shadow self, as defined by Carl Jung. This can be a challenging experience, as many of us are not keen (or even open) to acknowledging and addressing our faults. However, facing our suppressed emotions (such as anger, jealousy, greed) and confronting our fears provides a great opportunity to move forward in life; past what may have seemed to be insurmountable obstacles. Accepting that we have faults and integrating this knowledge internally is very beneficial for our personal spiritual development.

The Full Moon has a gravitation effect on the Earth, hence leading to a tidal impact on our oceans. Whilst it is has not been scientifically proven, it is logical to assume that this also has an impact on us as we are largely comprised of water (60-80% supposedly).

This particular eclipse with the Full Moon in Capricorn, is especially good for Taureans, Cancerians, Virgos, Scorpios, Capricorns and Pisceans, but it’s more challenging for everyone else. According to moonology.com (where you will find lots more details), the energy is repressed and resigned.

Another site offering lots of practical exercises over an eclipse period is mollyastrology.com. Thanks to Vivien Cottey for supplying these links.

Further energetic aspects are brought in by the lunar eclipse and the numerology of year 2019 which is a 3 year. The number 3 represents optimism, luck, and an abundance of energy.

Tuesday 16th July, being the day of the Full Moon in July, it is also Guru Purnima (the Full Moon of the Gurus) in Hindu tradition. The day of a full moon, Purnima, in the month of Ashadh of the Hindu calendar is traditionally celebrated as Guru Purnima by Hindus. On this day, devotees offer puja (worship) to their Guru. The Sanskrit root Gu means darkness or ignorance. Ru denotes the remover of that darkness. Therefore one who removes the darkness of ignorance is a Guru. It is a day for celebration and worship, a day on which the disciples remember and express their gratitude to the lineage of Gurus. Hindus believe that a Guru is necessary to make one understand the formless Divinity.

Tuesday 16th July is Asalhka Puja Day; a Buddhist commemoration of the Buddha's first public speech to five ascetics. He declared the middle way, the noble eight-fold path and the four noble truths upon which Buddhism is based.

Sunday 3rd December is another Supermoon (the first of a trilogy, with the other two being in January 2018) and it's also the last Full Moon before the Winter Solstice, giving rise to nicknames including the Cold Moon, the Long Nights Moon, the Oak Moon, the Moon before Yule (Anglo-Saxon) and the Wolf Moon (Celtic).

It will be at it's brightest at 15.47 UK time. athough it will not appear above the London horizon until 16.21 (moonrise times in your area available from Timeanddate.com).

Anyway, whatever the weather conditions, it's a fantastic excuse to get people of all ages outside in the fresh air and re-connecting with nature. Something our modern lifestyles and obsession with technology can distract us from doing...

If you are an angel fan, the angel of the Moon is Gabriel. Below is a beautiful image of Gabriel by Richard Rockwood from my sister Angel McGerr's A Harmony of Angels book (and Harmony Angel Cards). For instructions on Angela's Angelic Meditation with Gabriel.

BECAUSE OF GABRIEL’S MOON INFLUENCE, YOU CAN USE THE TIME/POWER OF FULL MOON IN VARIOUS WAYS

As Ruler of the Moon Gabriel can help you to draw on the true feminine power of the moon, allowing you to develop your intuition as well as understanding and realising your true potential.  Maximum time of benefit is the day of full moon.  Angels are usually thought to be without gender, but Gabriel is considered a feminine energy. You can use one of the following crystals to help in your invocations: moonstone, which is for developing inner wisdom and resources and learning to follow your hunches, or selenite, which is associated with the moon.  You could also use a general angelic stone such as milky quartz or angel hair quartz.

    • Invoke Gabriel by name three times, and then ask her to help you focus the powerful energy of the moon to your heart and your mind, to develop your intuition, in Love and Light, Love and Light, Love and Light.
    • Ask Gabriel to completely surround you with protective pure white light during this meditation.  In your mind see the radiance all around you.
    • Imagine roots growing from your feet into the floor, anchoring and grounding.
    • Take some slow, deep breaths in and out and focus on your inner self
    • Feel yourself relaxing and going deeper.  Let external sounds become part of the background, and maintain your focus within heart.
    • Visualise the meridian line within your body, extending downwards.  It reaches from the crown on top of your head, through the major chakras - your brow, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral and finishes at the base of your spine, base/root chakra of your being.
    • Visualise the moon and imagine her pure light.  Draw this silver radiance down into your crown, which is your spiritual connection to the cosmos.
    • Next feel the energy filling your brow, reaching your intuition, subconscious and the world of your dreams.
    • Now it travels down to your throat, which is your power of creative expression.
    • You can also ask for Gabriel’s help to focus the powerful energy of the moon to your heart, to clarify your life purpose.
    • Now imagine the energy flowing further down the meridian line and completely filling the column within your body, travelling down your legs and tingling in your feet.
    • Through your feet send energy to the heart of Mother Earth, and ask for her blessing on your life path and new aspirations.
    • Bring the power of Mother Earth back into your energy meridian.
    • Feel the combined powers of Earth and Moon filling the cells of your body.
    • Ask to understand your own true potential and for the ability to develop into it for your highest good.
    • Feel yourself filled with purpose and a renewed sense of direction.  Enjoy!
    • Open your eyes when ready and stamp your feet if you feel you need to ground your energies.
    • Remember to always thank the angels for their loving assistance.

  • Supermoon 2014 08 10 22 04 16Tuesday 29th May @ 15.20 is the Full Moon. This Full Moon in May is also known as the Flower Moon.

The Flower Moon, was so named by the Native American tribes because spring is officially in full swing by May with colourful blooms and flowers abundant over the  countryside. Different tribes label it as the Corn Planting Moon because of its association with crops being sown in time for the harvest and others identify it with its traditional brihtness hence naming it the Bright Moon and siome peole refer to it as the Milk Moon. See article in The Telegraph for more on this.

Similarly, the Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year. This is Huath (pronounced Hoh-uh); the Hawthorn Moon. The Hawthorn carries much raw masculine energy, carrying phallic qualities, and fire heralding a month of high male potency (following soon after Beltane) and hence fertility. The Hawthorn is also associated with the Fae (Faerie realm)and often grows near Ash and Oak trees, all of which attract the Fae.  Hawthornis used for magic drawing on masculine power which is good for making professional connections and business decisions. More about this at the Celtic Weirdness website, which I stumbled across earlier this year.
