FullMoon

  • Sunday 13th October, Full Ivy Moon

Sunday 13th October is the Full Ivy Moon @ 22.10.

If you are an angel fan, the angel of the Moon is Gabriel.

To the left is a beautiful image of Gabriel by Richard Rockwood from my sister Angel McGerr's A Harmony of Angels book (and Harmony Angel Cards).

Both are out of print and collectible but we still have a few remaining copies via the Harmony Shop.

See link for instructions on Angela's Angelic Meditation with Gabriel.

At the time of the Full Moon the Sun and Moon are in opposition. The solar (sun) energy influences our masculine/yang archetypal attributes (our outer world) such as strength, courage, identity, self-esteem, expression, conscious beliefs and determination together with our logical outlook.  Whereas the lunar energy (moon) influences our femininely archetypal attributes (our inner world), such as our unconscious beliefs, hidden emotions, nurturing feelings, creativity and intuition. The Full Moon is a powerful and appropriate time to show gratitude for life and the riches and bounty bestowed upon us by Mother Earth (Gaia).

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, and associated each with a tree; this is the Ivy Moon(thoughtco.com). Samhain (Halloween, 31st October) is approaching and the year is coming to a close. The Ivy Moon marks the end of the harvest season, when most of the plants have withered but the evergreen Ivy carries on (even when its host has died), reminding us of the ongoing circle of life - life, death and rebirth. The Celts called the month Gort (pronounced go-ert) and it is seen as a time to banish fear and negativity from your life. Protect yourself from people, products and activities that are toxic to you. Ivy can be used in magical ceremonies for protection, healing, co-operation and for binding lovers together.

Other names for a Full Moon in October are: Harvest Moon, Hunter's Moon (Northern Hemisphere) or Egg Moon, Fish Moon, Seed Moon, Pink Moon, Waking Moon, (Southern Hemisphere). Names for the moon can also relate to the season, so this Full Moon could also be called the Harvest Moon, or Hunter’s Moon, Frosty Moon, Beaver Moon (after the autumnal equinox)or Grass Moon, Egg Moon, Planting Moon, or Milk Moon, Rose Moon, Flower Moon, or Strawberry Moon (after the spring equinox). Source = earthsky.org.

The time between any Full Moon and the next New Moon is a good time, energetically, to detox the body. As avoiding toxins is recommended for the Ivy Moon, detoxing might also be advisable. I recommend anoil pulling technique, with coconut oil, which must be from a glass container for best taste.

  • Tuesday 12th November, Full Reed Moon @ 13.37

Tuesday 12th November is the Full Reed Moon @ 13.37 UK time (GMT/UT).

If you are an angel fan, the angel of the Moon is Gabriel.

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, and associated each with a tree; this is the Reed Moon (thoughtco.com). Reeds were used by the Celts to make wind instruments and at this time of year, as the wind blows through the dying reeds (they die back in winter), and the resulting eerie haunting sound was thought to be the souls of the departed on their final journey to the underworld. The Celts called this month Negatal (pronounced nyettle) and it's a time for magical relating to spirit guides, meditation, energy work and honouring the cycle of life - birth, death and re-birth.  It's also a good time for scrying and divination. The neo pagans sometimes refer to this month by it's alternative name of Elm Moon.

Other names for a Full Moon in November are: Hunter's Moon, Frosty Moon, Beaver Moon (Northern Hemisphere) or Corn Moon, Milk Moon, Flower Moon, Hare Moon (Southern Hemisphere). Names for the moon can also relate to the season, so this Full Moon could also be called the Harvest Moon, or Hunter’s Moon, Frosty Moon, Beaver Moon, Moon before Yule or Long Night Moon (after the autumnal equinox)or Grass Moon, Egg Moon, Planting Moon, or Milk Moon, Rose Moon, Flower Moon, or Strawberry Moon (after the spring equinox). Source = earthsky.org.

  • 3:3:3 numerology Awaken Your Avatar, 30th March 2019

Saturday 30th March -  a gentle reminder that this is the final 3-3-3 numerology for this month, for which I've chosen the theme Awaken Your Avatar; which is basically a suggestion that we consolidate our internal conflict (balance our masculine/feminine, home/work-life, even positive/negative personality traits) and focus on connecting with our inner knowing (Higher Self) which we all hold within.  This means opening the heart and working toward integrating the Higher Self (spiritual aspects) and Lower Self (basic functional needs) to create an enlightened being (Avatar). Below is a recap of the 3-3-3 numerology and theme for this third month.

2019 is a '3' year in numerology (2+0+1+9 = 12, then 1+2 =3), March is the third month and so there are four dates this month where the digits add up to three (3rd, 12th, 21st and 30th) giving us four separate examples of 3:3:3 numerology, which can be interpreted as meaning 'awaken your avatar' as well as 'creating heaven on earth'. The same 3:3:3 numerology will apply on 3rd, 12th, 21st and 30th December 2019. These dates will all offer amplified energies for manifesting our hopes and dreams.  Full details on the numerology are detailed in the separate section below.

myAvatar2010 was the last '3 year'. That was the year when I saw the film Avatar and was struck by some very deep resonances within the storyline (though I personally think the film would have been improved by at least 30-45 mins less battle combat scenes). The blue skin of the Na'vi is interesting (Ptah, the Egyptian Deity, is depicted with blue skin and it is said that the beings from Sirius have blue skin), but I particularly like the way the Na'vi understood the inter-relationship between species and the need to honour all life forms, plus their appreciation of the life force infrastructure network operating via trees!  This is something that my sister (Angela McGerr) and I work with (via the Sacred Eden Tree, original archetypal tree from the Garden of Eden), through which much global and planetary healing can be disseminated.  Most people would not understand this concept at all, so in a way, films like Avatar sew the seeds for this being not such a challenging idea!  Of course Avatar, though it has come to mean in techno speak representation of self as a chosen archetype (or even via a Caricature - see mine left courtesy of avatar maker), as defined by is original Sanskrit meaning, was the representation/incarnation of a Deity via a human or animal body, so in the film both definitions are combined with the idea of an idealised/perfected template of self.

By Awakening our Avatar, we can become masters of our destiny.  Just imagine what we can do by tuning in 'en masse' at 3.33 (am or pm would work, though I fancy pm will be more popular!) on any of these 3:3:3 portals. I will be undertaking a meditation between 3 - 3.33, hopefully on all of these dates, but certainly on the 3rd and 30th, please tune-in if you are available.  Close your eyes at a convenient time, which could be 3pm in your local time or the equivalent of 3pm GMT (when we will be meditating), or, if this is not possible, then invoke Eth, the angelic Guardian of time, to bend time so that you can join us etherically.  Send your positive intentions for awakening your Avatar and also for seeing the planet healed, to create for ourselves the next golden age.

See this Lost Generation You Tube video link for a thought-provoking (1 minute 50 seconds) presentation on the need for global responsibility.  This was also, synchronistically, first uploaded in 2010.

  • 3:3:3 numerology Awaken Your Avatar, 3rd December 2019

Tuesday 3rd December - is the first 3:3:3 numerology for this month, for which I've chosen the theme Awaken Your Avatar; which is basically a suggestion that we consolidate our internal conflict (balance our masculine/feminine, home/work-life, even positive/negative personality traits) and focus on connecting with our inner knowing (Higher Self) which we all hold within. This means opening the heart and working toward integrating the Higher Self (spiritual aspects) and Lower Self (basic functional needs) to create an enlightened being (Avatar).  I have an online meditation, aimed at identifying and overcoming what is holding you back from achieving your full potential, you can join on 12th December (which is a 12:12:12 as well as another 3:3:3) - see below for details.

Below is a recap of the 3:3:3 numerology and theme for this month.

2019 is a '3' year in numerology (2+0+1+9 = 12, then 1+2 =3), March was the third month and so there were four dates back in March where the digits added up to three (3rd, 12th, 21st and 30th) giving us four separate examples of 3:3:3 numerology, which can be interpreted as meaning 'Awaken your Avatar' as well as 'creating heaven on earth'. Because December is the 12th month, the digits again reduce to '3' when added together, so the same 3:3:3 numerology applies on 3rd, 12th, 21st and 30th December 2019. These dates will all offer amplified energies for manifesting our hopes and dreams.  Full details on the numerology are detailed in the separate section below.

Most healers are aware of the Sacred and Ancient Law of Three, examples being:

    • The Trinity of Father, Son and Spirit or Isis (Aset), Osiris (Ausar), Horus (Heru);
    • The composition of matter: Carbon, Oxygen, Hydrogen;
    • The components of man: Body, Essence, Personality or Mind, Body, Spirit.

The number three is also mentioned in the Emerald Tablets of Thoth (Tehuti) as follows:

    • Three is the Mystery come from the Great One: One God, One Truth, One Point of Freedom
    • Three are the Paths of the Soul: Man, Liberty, Light.
    • Three are the Qualities of God in his Light home: Infinite Power, Infinite Wisdom, Infinite Love.

As this 3:3:3 numerology gives us 3 x 3s, this amplifies the sacred spritual energy exponentially.

myAvatar2010 was the last '3 year'. That was the year when I saw the film Avatar and was struck by some very deep resonances within the storyline (though I personally think the film would have been improved by at least 30 mins less battle combat scenes). This is something that my sister (angel author Angela McGerr) and I work with (via the Sacred Eden Tree, original archetypal tree from the Garden of Eden), through which much global and planetary healing can be disseminated. Most people would not understand this concept at all, so in a way, films like Avatar sew the seeds for this being not such a challenging idea!  Of course Avatar, though it has come to mean in techno speak representation of self as a chosen archetype (or even via a Caricature - see mine above left courtesy of avatar maker), as defined by is original Sanskrit meaning, was the representation/incarnation of a Deity via a human or animal body, so in the film both definitions are combined with the idea of an idealised/perfected template of self.

By Awakening our Avatar, we can become masters of our destiny. Just imagine what we can do by tuning in 'en masse' at 3 (am or pm would work, though I fancy pm will be more popular!) on any of these 3:3:3 portals.

If you would like to join in on a 3:3:3 celebration, I am running a 3:3:3 virtual 'Awaken Your Avatar' guided meditation via Zoom on 12th December, which is another 3-3-3 numerology. the evnt will start at 3pm UK time (GMT/UT) for 33 minutes, the cost is £13.33. See Awaken Your Avatar on Harmony Healing website for details and to book. The Awaken Your Avatar meditation involves working with the Violet flame of transmutation to identify and overcome what is holding you back from achieving your full potential.

Oak tree lying in state HC 2009Interestingly, in 2009, my other sister (garden designer and counsellor, Fiona  Stephenson), was awarded a Gold Medal for her RHS Hampton Court Show Garden entitled Oak Tree Lying in State (image right) which was all about showing reverence for nature.

Featured in the Telegraph at the time, the newpaper article singled out the best 'sustainable' garden as follows "the intriguing and original Oak Tree: Lying in State by Fiona Stephenson, which has as its focus a century-old oak tree trunk lying on its side on top of a floral red carpet, surrounded by oak saplings".

This year I have been training as a Forest Bathing+ Guide. Part of the training has involved studying the plethora of evidence that being in nature, particularly in ancient woodland, is undeniably beneficial for our wellbeing.

An earlier Show Garden of Fiona's, Growing Together in 2007, was a collaboration with the RHS (Royal Horticultual Society) and pyschologists from the University of Essex. The parties involved studied the wellbeing impact of spending just three minutes in the specially designed healing garden and the results were incredible. Fiona and I are planning a new initiative to explore wellbeing through nature therapy; exploring garden settings as well as woodlands.

See this Lost Generation You Tube video link for a thought-provoking (1 minute 50 seconds) presentation on the need for global responsibility.  This was also, synchronistically, first uploaded in 2010.

On Tuesday 3rd December, 7.30 - 10pm there will be a healing share at Harmony Healing, see my Surrey meet-up for details.

If you can't join us on the 3rd December but would like to join in on a 3:3:3 celebration, I am running a 3:3:3 virtual 'Awaken Your Avatar' meditation via Zoom on 12th December, which is another 3:3:3 numerology, at 3pm UK time (GMT/UT) for 33 minutes, the cost is £13.33. Thursday 21st March @ 01.43 (Wednesday night/Thursday morning) is Equinox Alder Full Moon. Its also the third and final of three consecutive Supermoons; see the separate Blog entry above for more.

  • Beltane Full Moon and Eve of Beltane, 30th April 2018

Supermoon 2014 08 10 22 04 16Monday 30th April @ 01.59 (Sunday Night, early Monday morning) is Beltane Full Moon. It's also the known as the Pink Moon, Egg Moon, Fish Moon or Willow Moon

The Pink Moon, was so named by the Native American tribes, not because it appears pink but because it is associated with the pink flowers which are abundant in the USA and Canada at this time of year. Different tribes label it as the Egg Moon because of its association with egg-laying season and others identify it with the shad (a species of herring) swimming season so called it the Fish Moon.See article in The Telegraph for more on this.

Similarly, the Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year. This is Saille (pronounced Sahl-Ye); the  Willow Moon. The willow grows best when there's plenty of rain (we've seen plenty here in the UK in the last few days) and is associated with healing, nurturing, knowledge-building and women's mysteries. Willows planted near your home are supposed to protect from danger; weeping willows soak up lots of water so I can see how this could help protect from excessive rain and storm damage! They are often planted near cemeteries.  More about this at the Celtic Weirdness website, which I stumbled across earlier this year.

And in Buddhist tradition, this is also Wesak. The first Full Moon in Taurus (though some sources say the first Full Moon in May) is celebrated in honour of the enlightenment of Buddha and his passing into Nirvana. This is the spiritual high point of the year, when all the illuminated beings invoke a great blessing for the earth.

The time between any Full Moon and the next New Moon is a good time, energetically, to detox the body.  In view of this being a Super Blue Blood Imbolc Moon, I would say it's an even better time than usual for a detox.  I recommend an oil pulling technique, with coconut oil, which must be from a glass container for best taste.

August in Britain is school summer holidays. Time for summer camping and outdoor festivals and, our Summer Bank Holiday, this year on Monday 30th August, with typically lots of rain.  As someone with a late August birthday I can testify to rain being very common indeed.

The month of August was renamed by Augustus Caesar, after himself. Under Roman rule it was previous called Sextilllia, meaning the 6th month in Latin. When the Gregorian calendar was established by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582, January became the opening month of the calendar year. To the Anglo-Saxons, August was called Ƿēodmōnaþ meaning ‘weed (or grass) month’.

During August, we have Khemitian (Ancient Egyptian) New Year on 1st - which is also Pagan Lunasa/Lammas, Lion’s Gate (8th) and the Perseid Meteors (9th - 17th August, peaking 11th/12th). Ths year (postponed from last year) we will have the final week of the Tokyo Olympics at the start of the month. We can also look forward to three other annual Egyptian Festivals plus a selection of Chinese, Buddhist and Hindu Festivals as well as a Roman annual commemoration. We have Surrey Forest Bathing events on the 8th, 12th, 13th & 15th.  The Full Moon takes place on Sunday 22nd, with the Sturgeon Moon peaking at 13.02 – there’s no Full Moon Meditation this month.

1st August Khemitian New YearSunday 1st August is the Ancient Egyptian New year, traditionally marking the start of the Nile flood, started by the tears of Aset (Isis) over the death of Asar (Osirus).

The exact correlation of the Egyptian New year to the modern calendar is disputed, but I favour the linking with the heliacal rising of Sirius (dawn visibility of Sirius) as this star, known to the Egyptians as Sopdet (pronounced Soppday) was closely associated with Aset.

In the Northern Hemisphere, this is also the Pagan Celebration of Lunasa (also known as Lammas), the start of the harvest, season of pregnancy, ripening, transformation and peace.

This marks the height of the northern summer, when the Earth is most alive.

New Moon image cropped toghtSunday 8th August @ 14:50 is Lunasa New Moon & Lion's Gate.

The New Moon Abundance Ritual should be carried out within 24 hours after the New Moon. It needs to be after the New Moon because the moon should be waxing (getting bigger again) to carry the manifestation energy. There are video instructions on my Facebook Page or You Tube Page.

New Moon is a good time to work on your Vision Board for the rest of 2021.

8 August Lions GateSunday 8th August is The Lion's Gate. August 8th (8:8 in numerology) has always been experienced as the Lions Gate doorway opening up a time portal to ancient Egyptian encodings situated between the Sphinx and the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Whilst it wasn't the plan originally, I am now offering an 8:8 Lion's Gate Meditation at 7.30-9.30pm (UK time) on the 8th. This session will be specially themed on the energy portal between Egypt and the UK, angelic connections, plus of course, being the Lion's Gate, it will have a feline twist to it too. Book at the Harmony Shop (it's under Full Moon meditations although this is a New Moon).

It is said to be an energy doorway, which activates through the Solar Lion into the etheric and the Hall of Records (Akasha) and is said to be associated with the marriage of matter and antimatter, where polarities meet and merge.

Encrypted at sacred sites all over the world, but headquartered at Giza Egypt, these long-established data programmes, communicate with our own inner crystalline codes held in our DNA. By tuning in and connecting with these codings we may be able to access a portal ancient truths and wisdoms resulting in an accelerated spiritual awakening.

12 August Day of the Light of IsisThursday 12th August is the Day of the Light of Aset (Isis). On this day Aset (Isis) is celebrated with all forms of light including sun worship, during the day and candles at night.

Interesting that it is very close to the date of the Roman Festival of Diana (varies 11th-13th August though mostly shown as the 13th), which no doubt was a development from the Egyptian Festival.

Informative Egyptian laminated posters by Jacqui Taliesin El Masry (Alkhemi) are available from this site - see Harmony Shop.

13 August Festival of Diana framedFriday 13th August, in Roman tradition, is the Festival of Diana, being the date upon which King Servius Tullius dedicated her shrine on the Aventine Hill in Rome in the mid-sixth century BCE.

Diana was the hunting goddess, associated with wild animals and woodlands. She later became a moon goddess, supplanting Luna; and the moon was an emblem of chastity.

Oak groves were especially sacred to her. She was praised in poetry for her strength, athletic grace, purity, distinct beauty, and hunting skill.

Despite her virginal status, Diana was also a Goddess of Fertility.

18 August Egyptian Feast of WagiWednesday 18th August is the Egyptian Feast of Wagy

Taking place seventeen days after the Egyptian celebrations of New Year's Day, there was the more sombre feast of Wagy, when families paid respect to their ancestors.

They came to the tombs of the deceased, with offerings, performing rituals, specifically "fumigations" - producing fumes - smoke. The ceremonies were often followed by a funerary meal.

21 August Roman Festival of ConsualiaSaturday 21st August is the Roman Festival of Consualia, to honour Consus, the god of counsel, and the one who protects the harvest, which was in storage at the time of the festival.

Mars, as a protector of the harvest, was also honoured on this day, as were the Lares, the household Gods that individual families held sacred.

During the celebration horses, mules, and assess were exempted from all labour, and were led through the streets adorned with garlands and flowers. Chariot races were held this day in the Circus Maximus, which included an odd race in which chariots were pulled by mules.

August Bank Holiday Nature TrailMonday 30th August is the Summer Bank Holiday in the UK.  In the United Kingdom, most workers have a day off work or school and the banks are closed.

The Bank Holidays Act of 1871 introduced the August Bank Holiday to give bank clerks and shop people a day of relaxation not connected to holy days such as Christmas.

This has morphed into a three-day weekend before the school summer holidays finish.

If you have children, weather permitting (avoid woodland locations in heavy winds), it's a great day to take them out on a nature trail at a local park, beauty spot, National Trust or woodland location.

July is still British summertime. Time for the orchids, delphiniums, dahlias, hydrangeas, irises and sunflowers to bloom, and the lingering perfumed scent of roses, honeysuckle, gardenias and jasmine on the night air. Traditionally, here in the UK, July would feature the Wimbledon Championship tennis finals and Henley Regatta; this year the latter is postponed until August.

The month of July was renamed to honour Julius Caesar, who was born in this month. Under Roman rule it was previous called Quintilis, meaning the 5th month in Latin. This was before January became the opening month of the calendar year, when the Gregorian calendar was established by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582. To the Anglo-Saxons, it was called Æftera Līþa (after midsummer).

During July, as well as the intriguing Mary Magdalene Day (abandoned in 1552), we have Canada Day (1st) plus a couple of international independence celebrations – USA (4th) and France (14th). We can look forward to a sprinkling of Zoroastrian, Buddhist and Hindu Festivals as well as a Roman annual commemoration.  However, the month is inundated with Egyptian Deity commemorations, initially featuring the birthday of Ra (13th), then the month ends with the fiveEpagomenal Days - also known as the 'Days out of Time' - which celebrated the Birthdays of five major Egyptian Deities, culminating with the end of the Egyptian calendar year (1st August being their New Year). Egypt was formerly known asKhem in times of antiquity. To mark the auspicious relevance of these dates to the Ancient Egyptian calendar, I am running my Khemitology course on Tuesday evenings 20th July - 3rd August. We have Surrey Forest Bathing events on the 8th, 18th & 22nd with the Full Moon Guided Healing meditation taking place on Friday 23rd, the night of the Lunasa Thunder Moon (reaches its peak at 03.37 on 24th).

1 July Tir JishanThursday 1st July, in Fasli tradition, is the Zoroastrian Rain Festival of Tir Jashan, dedicated to the star deities of Tir and Teshar.

Give bracelets made of the seven colours of the rainbow.  At the end of the festival go to a high place and throw them into the wind (biodegradeable I hope).

As the Festival is actually on the 13th of Tir, some Zorastrian traditions convert this to 4th July.

1st July Canada dayThursday 1st July is also Canada Day; the national day of Canada.

This is a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of Canadian confederation, which took place with the passing of the Constitution Act on 1st July 1867, where the new name Canada recognised the three separate colonies of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick being united into a single Dominion within the British Empire.

4 July American Independence DaySunday 4th July is American Independence Day.

This marks the anniversary of unanimous adoption of the Declaration of Independence, by the Second Continental Congress in 1776

The Declaration announced that the 13 colonies claimed their separation from England, which eventually led to the formation of the United States.

10 July New MoonSaturday 10th July (Friday night/Saturday morning)@ 02:17is the New Moon.

13 July Birthday of Ra full bodyTuesday 13th July, according to some sources, was the Ancient Egyptian Festival to celebrate the Birthday of Ra.

Since Ra was the God of creation this could be interpreted as the day man was created!

Ra was also associated with the Sun and healing so perhaps it is no coincidence that the Roman’s celebrated Apollo on the same (equivalent) date.

13 July Games of ApolloTuesday 13th July, in Roman Times, was the culmination of the Games of Apollo.

As early as 212 BCE 13th July was the celebration of Apollo as the God of Healing (especially during wars) but this later extended into an 8 day festival ending on 13th July.

Apollo was associated with the Sun and his twin Diana (Goddess of Hunting) was associated with the moon.

Apollo became significant among the Romans when Augustus Caesar, as a young man, chose Apollo as his own god, and attributed his victory over Antony and Cleopatra to Apollo’s superiority over the Egyptian Deities!

Augustus is said to have described Apollo as: “Governor of Roman destiny; master of the sun; archer; augur; averter of pestilence; and giver of sound morals to the young.”

14 July Bastille DayWednesday 14th July is Bastille Daya national holiday in France.

This commemorates a mob of Frenchmen, rebelling against the rule of their king, who stormed a prison to obtain weapons and free prisoners.

It sparked the French Revolution in 1789.

22nd July Mary Magdalene DayThursday 22nd July was celebrated in the First Book of Common Prayer, 1549, as Saint Mary Magdalene’s Day in the Christian calendar.  When the Second Book of Common Prayer was published 3 years later in 1552, this feast day, amongst others was omitted.

Early celebrations of Mary Magdalene's Feast Day included marriage symbolism such as creating your own healing oil blends "for the marital bed”, probably including oils such as rose, sandalwood, and ylang ylang.

Apparently the original feast day venerated her as a representative of the perfect wife (church liturgy recommended readings such as Proverbs 31:10-31), so it is a day to celebrate the Sacred Feminine, maybe plant something, sew something, cook something and, of course, love something.

24 July Guru PurnimaSaturday 24th July, being the day of the Full Moon in July, it is also Guru Purnima (the Full Moon of the Gurus) in Hindu tradition. The day of full moon, Purnima, in the month of Ashadh of the Hindu calendar is traditionally celebrated as Guru Purnima by Hindus.

On this day, devotees offer puja (worship) to their Guru. The Sanskrit root "Gu" means darkness or ignorance. "Ru" denotes the remover of that darkness. Therefore one who removes the darkness of ignorance is a Guru.

It is a day for celebration and worship, a day on which the disciples remember and express their gratitude to the lineage of Gurus. Hindus believe that a Guru is necessary to make one understand the formless Divinity.

24 July Asalkha Puja daySaturday 24th July is Asalhka Puja Day; a Buddhist commemoration of the Buddha's first public speech to five ascetics. He declared the middle way, the noble eight-fold path and the four noble truths upon which Buddhism is based.

26 July eve of Epagomenal DaysMonday 26th July (or 13th July) is the Egyptian eve of the Epagomenal Days of celebration for the birthdays of their ancient major Deities. The exact correlation of the Egyptian New year to the modern calendar is disputed, but I favour the linking with the heliacal rising of Sirius (dawn visibility of Sirius) as this star, known to the Egyptians as Sopdet (pronounced Soppday) was closely associated with Aset.

The celebrations began on the Eve of the Epagomenal Days - viewed as 26th July, although some sources equate it to 13th July). The following days marked the birthdays of the five children of the Egyptian Deity Nut.

27 July birthday of AusarBeing dates of powerful Egyptian Energies these may prove ideal days for an Egyptian Energy Reyad Sekh Em 1-2-1 healing session.

28 July birthday of HeruAccording to myth, Tehuti (Thoth) enabled Nut to give birth to her five children [Aset (Isis), Ausar (Osirus), Set, Heru (Horus the elder) and Nebt-het (Nephthys)] by using his cunning to win a game of draughts with the moon.

By winning a seventy second part of the moon's light, he managed to create five extra days (the Epagomenal Days, also known as the Days out of Time), which allowed Nut to give birth to her five children without breaking Ra's decree that her children could not be born on any existing calendar day.

This myth more than any other is responsible for Tehuti (Thoth)'s role as a lunar deity.

29 July birthday of SetTuesday 27th July, in the Egyptian Calendar, is the Birthday of Ausar (Osirus).

He is also known as Wzr, Wesir, Asar, Ausir, Usir, Usire,Osirus,Osirus. The latter two versions being used later after the Greek occupation, but the variation is mainly due to the lack of vowels in heiroglyphic language meaning that there are many phonetic representations. See the entry under 26th July for the full story.

    30 July birthday of Aset

Wednesday 28th July, in the Egyptian Calendar, is the Birthday of Heru (Horus).

This is Heru-ur [also known as Horus the Elder (Gr)], sibling of Ausar and Aset, not their son. Not all sources list him as a sibling, Egyptian mythology widely varies depending on the era and geographical location of the source within Egypt. See the entry under 26th July for the full story.

Thursday 29th July, in the Egyptian Calendar, is the Birthday of Set (Seth). Set is also known as Seth (Gr), Setesh, Sutekh, Setekh or Suty which probably ultimately led to the term SatanSee the entry under 26th July for the full story.

31 July birthday of Nebt hetFriday 30th July, in the Egyptian Calendar, is the Birthday of Aset [Aset, Iset, Isis (Gr)]

Auset is responsible for resurrecting her murdered husband and, being mad with grief, uses her magical powers to temporarily restore breath and life into Ausar in order to concieve their son Heru.See the entry under 26th July for the full story.

Saturday 31st July is the Egyptian Birthday of Nebt-het  [Nebet-Het, Nebthet, Nepthys (Gr)].

Nebh-het is the sister-wife of Set and is typically paired with her sister Auset when undertaking funerary rites because of their protective priestess roles with mummified bodies. See the entry under 26th July for the full story.

June is British summertime. The roses bloom, imprinting their perfumed scent into the extended evenings leading to the Solstice on the 21st. Garden flowers and hedgerows are splendidly colourful and summer berries are abundant.  This year, after extended lockdown, we will relish the picnic season with strawberries & ice-cream plus elderflower cordial; despite optimism versus realism whilst planning for both rain and/or sunburn risk.

The month could be named after Juno, the Roman Goddess Goddess linked with marriage. To the Anglo-Saxons, it was called sera monath (dry month), which is not necessarily our modern-day experience.

During June, as well as our own traditional British Festivals, we have a couple of international events – World Environment Day (3rd) and Asteroid Day (30th).  We can look forward to a sprinkling of Chinese, Egyptian and Roman celebrations plus the Bootid Meteor Shower as well as a solar eclipse on 10th June. Unlike the lunar eclipse at the end of May, this solar eclipse will be visible in most of UK and Europe, and like the May lunar eclipse it will have an energetic impact globally. We have Surrey Forest Bathing events on 19th & 22nd with the Full Moon Guided Healing meditation taking place on the 23rd, the night before the Solstice Strawberry Moon (coinciding with Mid Summers Day) reaches its peak.

5th June alternative World Environment DaySaturday 5th June is World Environment day, which has been celebrated annually since 1972.

Over the years, the day has focused on such issues as acid rain, oceans, water, and green cities.

Happy World Ocean Day Instagram SquareTuesday 8th June is World Ocean Day.

World Ocean Day, powered by World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council, works with an international network of youth and organisational leaders, in more than 140 countries, to support collaborative conservation.

10th June New MoonThursday 10th June @ 11:53 (Solstice Dark Moon & Annular Solar Eclipse), visible in most of Europe, North America & Asia, plus in North/West Africa, Atlantic & Arctic areas. See timeanddate.com.

14th June Chinese Dragon Boat FestivalMonday 14th June is scheduled as the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival in Mandarin and Tuen Ng Festival in Cantonese. The Festival is to commemorate the Chinese patriot, Qu Yuan, who killed himself by jumping into the river Li in despair. He was desperate because his master refused to take his advice and he feared his country falling into the enemy's hands  It is on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese calendar, which falls this year on Monday 14th June.  However, celebrations often take place on convenient weekends in the Western calendar - such as the London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festivalwhich was scheduled to take place this year in late June.  I'm not sure either willl be happening.

16th June Leyleten NuktahWednesday 16th June is the Egyptian night, known as Leyleten-Nuktah, the Night of the Tear Drop.

A miraculous tear-drop as Aset (Isis) began the mourning of her brother/husband Asar (Osirus), was believed to fall into the Nile causing it to rise and bring new life to the land.

Sources vary as to whether this is 14th/16th/17th or 18th June; the date is actually the 11th day of the Ancient Egyptian month of Ba-oo-neh, so the confusion arises when trying to covert this to our Gregorian calendar.

To purchase instructions for a sacred bath ritual for finding inner strength; removing the etheric mask to see the ‘truth’ beneath(£4.44 or £2.22 to email subscribers) see Harmony Shop or email .Subscriber discount code will be sent to Blog update subscribers on 16th June.

20th June Egyptian Festival of the Burning of the LampsSunday 20th June is the Egyptian Festival of the Burning of the Lamps which was held at Sais (source Bibliotheca Alexandrina, p31, also available via Academia.edu,date from Moonwise Calendar). This is the third great festival in Sais to Aset (Isis).

In an under-chapel beneath the temple, lamps were carried in procession around the coffin of Asar (Osiris). It was by the power of light, symbolising the life-giving power of the Moon, that Aset rekindled life in her dead husband.

The exact date is actually the 13th day of the Ancient Egyptian month of Epeiph, so confusion arises when trying to covert this to our Gregorian calendar and some sources give variations especially 21st June.

21st June Summer SolsticeMonday 21st June at 04.32 is the Pagan Celebration of the Solstice, the moment when the sun enters Cancer.  In the Northern Hemisphere, this is viewed as the triumph of light, the ecstatic culmination of the sun, yet the start of growing darkness.

Old traditions included: Making a bonfire on a hilltop, sing, drink, laugh and time of merry-making.  Processions with torches and lanterns, rolling wheel down hill to mark the start of the sun’s descent, blessing cakes and wine, waiting for the dawn and greeting the sun when it rises, sleeping by a spring, rolling naked in the dew of the summer sunrise! 2-hour Full Moon Guided Personal & Global Healing & Unity Consciousness Meditation, 23rd June @ £22 To book via Paypal

24th June Full MoonThursday 24th June is Full Moon @ 19.40 UK time.

It's the Summer Solstice Oak Strawberry Supermoon as well as Midsummers Day, also known as the Lotus Moon, Oak Moon, Cold Moon or Long Night’s Moon.

Between Full Moon and the next New Moon is considered as a good time energetically for detoxing the body.

Image, left, shows Essence of the Moon painting by Zoe Hudson. For commission enquiries, see Zoe's website or email  .

For details of Full Moon timings for 2021, as well as instructions for an Angela McGerr's Full Moon Meditation with Gabriel (from Angela McGerr's book A Harmony of Angel, we have a few unused signed editions available from the Harmony Shop),see the Harmony Healing Full Moon listing.

24th June Mid Summers DayThursday 24th June is also Midsummers Eve and was considered magical in Cornwall and Ireland, when there was feasting, fires, songs, and dances. Bonfires were kindled on high hills to commemorate the high point of the year. Traditionally, the veil is thin between the dimensions housing the living and the dead at this time.

This is also the Roman Festival of Fors Fortuna.  Forsis an ancient Roman Goddess of prosperity, good luck, and divine blessings. Her name means "She Who Brings", from the Latin verb fero, synonymous with abundance and success.  This seems to have merged with Fortuna, probably originally a Goddess of fertility, into the Goddess called Fors Fortuna, who was acknowledged as sometimes being fickle or wanton and representing Fortune as Goddess of luck or chance.  She was especially worshipped by slaves and commoners, as the Goddess who could bring about rags-to-riches transformations; with at least two dedicated temples in Rome being founded by former slaves in gratitude for their changed luck.

26th June Bootids Meteor ShowerSaturday 26th June (Friday night/Saturday morning) is predicted as the peak of the Bootids Meteor Shower; if they are visible at all this year.  Although they are not active every year, they can occur any time between 22nd June and 2nd July.

In 2021, with the Full Moon occurring on 24th June, the peak dates will span a period of considerable moonlight pollution.

From more northerly latitudes (including UK), the all-night twilight poses an additional problem for observers.

More at in-the-sky.org, including a map of the radiant point.

30th June Asteroid DayWednesday 30th June is Asteroid Day. Asteroid Day was co-founded in 2014, by Dr. Brian May, astrophysicist and lead guitarist of QUEEN, together with Rusty Schweickart, Apollo 9 Astronaut, Danica Remy, President of B612 Foundation and filmmaker Grig Richters.

Asteroid Day events take place annually on 30th June to mark the anniversary of the Tunguska impact in 1908.

Its purpose is to expand the understanding of asteroids and to ensure that any asteroids which might ever have a direct impact on our planet are carefully monitored.

It is created using many sources but notably the Moonwise Calendar and Lia Leendertz's 2021 Almanac. Whilst considerable effort is made to ensure accuracy, this is not an exact science and sources are sometimes contradictory!

These monthly Celestial Forecasts (CF) are generally uploaded to the Harmony Healing website a fortnight ahead and can be accessed via the drop-down box on the right. They are sent out to the main mailing list and CF subscribers a few days before the month starts.

Extracts from the Celestial Forecast are reproduced in Glyden Magick, an online magazine offered via Gylden Fellowship which is a fabulous resource for Neo-Pagans (particularly in the South of England when physical meet-ups can resume).

Autumn view squareOctober in Britain features the full splendour of autumn colours with an array of brown, red and golden yellow mixed with the remaining green as trees shed their leaves. Nature is truly remarkable; this process eliminates environmental toxins which have collected, and trees do it to protect themselves. In winter sunshine, water would continue to evaporate from the leaves, and should the ground water freeze, the tree's water supply would no longer be guaranteed. Hence the plant produces phytohormones and directs them to its leaf stalks. These hormones cause a corky layer to form, then the leaves fall off. This cork prevents pathogens such as fungi or bacteria from penetrating. Furtthermore, should it snow, the tree will not have to bear the additional weight of snow on the leaf surfaces.

This month is the ideal time to harvest chestnuts, conkers and apples and on the allotments we have many seasonal vegetables including broccoli, leeks, turnips, potatoes, kale plus of course squashes including pumpkin. It's easy to see why apple bobbing and pumpkin carving became associated with Halloween, celebrated on the 31st. We also have two separate sets of Meteor Showers, the Draconids (peaks 8th/9th) and the Orionids (peaks 20th/21st).

The month of October was named after 'octo' meaning 8th in Latin, as October was the 8th month when the year started in March. To the Anglo-Saxons, October was called Winterfylleth, or the “winter full moon,” because winter was said to begin on the first full moon in October.

During October, we have a plethora of international festivals such as World Vegetarian Day (1st), World Mental Health Day (10th), World Food Day (16th), International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (17th) as well as Thanksgiving in Canada (11th). We can also look forward to the London Traditions Pearly King Harvest Festival (3rd) and October Plenty (usually a Sunday at the end of the month, but looks to be going online again this year), Christian Festival of St Francis of Assisi Day (4th), two annualEgyptian Festivals Going Forth of Isis (6th) & Isia (28th) and Roman October Horse (15th) annual commemorations,  plus of course the Pagan Festival of Samhain (better known as Halloween) on 31st. Sarah Jane's Women's Circle Moon Lodge is meeting on Friday 15th.  We have Forest Bathing events on Saturdays 2nd & 30th (Guildford), Tuesday 12th (Woking), Thursday 14th (London SW20) & Sunday 17th (Shere). Aligning with the moon cycle is very therapeutic, and our New Moon New Vision: Moon Alignment Course runs for a full lunar cycle from New Moon on 6th October to New Moon on 4th November. Our Full Moon Meditation takes place 7.30-9.30pm (UK time) on Wednesday 20thwith the Hunter Moon peaking earlier in the day at 15:57.

01 October World Vegetarian DayFriday 1st October is World Vegetarian Day.

Established by the North American Vegetarian Society in 1977 and endorsed by the International Vegetarian Union in 1978, it is a day of celebration "to promote the joy, compassion and life-enhancing possibilities of vegetarianism." It brings awareness to the ethical, environmental, health and humanitarian benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle and hence is a time set aside to raise awareness of the positive effects of a vegetarian lifestyle on “humans, other animals and our shared earth.” See more details on the Awareness.com website.

World Vegetarian Day marks the start of Vegetarian Awareness Month throughout October, which ends with World Vegan Day on 1st November, marking the end of that month of celebration. Apparently, Vegetarian Awareness Month.

Pearly KingSunday 3rd October, being the first Sunday in this month, is traditionally the Pearly King Harvest Festival at St Martin-in-the-Fields, London, offering a spectacular display of historical London. More at ProjectBritain Website.

The Pearly Kings & Queens are a popular Cockney tradition dating from the 19th century. It started when a young boy covered a suit with pearly buttons to raise money for the poor at fairs and charity events. Other boroughs followed suit and got their own Pearly King or Queen. The Pearly King image is the author's property. The model is unknown but willingly posed for the photograph; there is no commercial gain from the author's use of this photograph.

04 October Francis of Assisi DayMonday 4th October is the Feast of Francis of Assisi in the Christian Calendar, so it is appropriate that it is also World Animal Day since St Francis is the Patron Saint of Animals and the Environment. It is a popular date for animals to be blessed.

St Francis, who founded the Catholic Church’s Franciscan order, lived in Italy between approximately 1181 and 1226. He is remembered for his love for animals and nature and his generosity to the poor, as well as well as his willingness to minister to the lepers.

St Francis was cannonised (pronounced a Saint), shortly after his death (in 1228) by Pope Gregory IX. The Pope also laid the foundation stone for the Basilica of St Francis d'Assisi, Italy, which is a UNESCO world heritage site. See timeanddate.com and Wikipedia for more.

06 October New MoonWednesday 6th October @ 12:06 is the  New  Moon.

The New Moon Abundance Ritual should be carried out within 24 hours after the New Moon. It needs to be after the New Moon because the moon should be waxing (getting bigger again) to carry the manifestation energy.

There are video instructions on my You Tube Page.

    06 October LCAP

Wednesday 6th October is the start of New Moon New Vision; Lunar Cycle Alignment Programme.

This lunar cycle applies the transformational properties of spiritual alchemy to help you feel rejuvenated and purposeful about the rest of the year, via the creation of a Vision Board.

It's a special one lunar month empowerment and attunement programme combining the solar & lunar balancing with various ceremonies throughout the month. The next Moon Alignment Programme begins with the New Moon on the 6th October and culminates with the New Moon on 4th November. This takes in the Pagan Festival of Samhain (31st October, also known as Halloween).

07 October Going forth of IsisThursday 7th October, though some sources say Sunday 10th October, is Going Forth of Isis (Aset) in Egyptian Tradition. Apparently, her heart is pleased on this day because 'the heritage is granted to her son Horus (Heru)'.

On this special day, a specially selected team of Priests and/or Priestesses would commence a procession to take their most treasured image or statue of Aset (Isis) to another temple, with many planned stops en route. At each stop a sacred rite would be performed by the Priests/Priestesses and often divinations would be offered. When the final temple destination was reached, the image or statue would be placed in an honoured location and a joyful fesival celebration would ensue.

Informative posters of Isis, as per the sample shown here, are by Jacqui Taliesin El Masry from Alkhemi.co.uk. Laminated versions of this and other Egyptian Posters by Jacqui, are available to purchase from the Harmony Shop.

08 October Draconid MeteorsFriday 8th & Saturday 9th October, is the Draconids Meteor Shower. The radiant point for the Draconid meteor shower almost coincides with the head of the constellation Draco the Dragon in the northern sky. That’s why the Draconids are best viewed from the Northern Hemisphere, and, surprisingly in the early evening soon after dusk.

Draco has been known to spew forth many hundreds of meteors in a single hour.

In 2021, the recent New Moon (on the 6th) should provide relatively moon-free viewing for a few hours after nightfall which is the best viewing time this year. See Earthsky Website or timeandate.com for more.

10 October World Mental Health DaySunday 10th October is World Mental Health Day. Initially it was as an annual activity held by the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH), but World Mental Health Day has been observed since 10th October 1992.

It's now officially commemorated every year on 10th October and this year's theme is 'mental health in an unequal world'. This year, in collaboration woth ITN Productions, they have created a film entitled Forward Together for Menal Health- there's a trailer on the mentalhealth-uk.org website, where you can also register to be notified when the film is released.

11 October Canadian Thanksgiving 2Monday 11th October is Thanksgiving Day in Canada, sometimes called Canadian Thanksgiving to distinguish it from the American holiday which is the 4th Thursday in November (this year it's Thursday 25th November).

16 October World Food DaySaturday 16th October is World Food Day; a worldwide event designed to increase awareness, understanding and informed, year-around action to alleviate hunger.

This day, declared by the UN General Assembly, aims to heighten public awareness of world food problems and strengthen solidarity in the struggle against hunger, malnutrition and poverty. The theme for World Food Day 2021 is 'Our Actions are our Future.'

The theme is to highlight the fact that the food we choose and the way we consume it, affects our health and that of our planet. Our actions have impact on the way agri-food systems work. So we all need to be part of the change.

Each year, on 16th OctoberConcern Worldwide joins organisations around the world in commemorating World Food Day, marking the day the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) was founded in 1945. Concern Worldwide, whose motto is tackling hunger, transforming lives highlight some incredibly worthy causes on their website.

17 October International Day for Eradication of PovertySunday 17th October is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.

The observance of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty can be traced back to 17th October 1987, when over a hundred thousand people gathered at the Trocadéro in Paris. This was the location where the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was signed in 1948, to honour the victims of extreme poverty, violence and hunger. They proclaimed that poverty is a violation of human rights and affirmed the need to come together to ensure that these rights are respected. These convictions are inscribed in a commemorative stone unveiled on this day.

Since then, every year on 17th October, people of all backgrounds, beliefs and social origins have gathered to renew their commitment and show their solidarity with the poor.

20 October Hunter Full MoonWednesday 20th October is the Hunter Full Moon @ 15:57.

This activity serves as a good taster of Joanna's work in general. For more details and to book, see Harmony Shop.

20 October Orionid MeteorsWednesday 20th - Thursday 21st October is the peak of the Orionids which is the most prolific meteor shower associated with Halley's Comet and lasts from 15th until 29th October.

The Orionids are so-called because they appear to come from, the constellation Orion. In some years, meteors may occur at rates of 50-70 per hour.

This year, on the night of the Full Moon it's not likely to be good viewing. In 2021, the annual Orionid meteor shower is expected to rain down the greatest number of meteors before dawn on October 21st, perhaps as many as 20 meteors per hour. Sadly the light pollution from the Hunter's Full Moon will obscure viewing.

But the hours between midnight and dawn on the mornings of October 20th and 22nd may offer a decent sprinkling of meteors as well, and you might see some anytime in October if you have a dark sky for viewing. See also EarthSky website where you will also find more details about the event.

28 October IsiaThursday 28th October is the Egyptian celebration of Isia, marking the 7 days that Aset (Isis) spent searching for the body parts of Asar (Osiris) following his death and dismemberment by his brother Set.

This culminates on Wednesday 3rd November with Hilaria when she resurrected him by re-membering him; no doubt contributing to the definition of our word remember meaning to recall someone from memory.

Informative laminated posters of Isis by Jacqui Taliesin El Masry (from Alkhemi.co.uk) and other Egyptian Posters by Jacqui, are available to purchase from the Harmony Shop.

30 October Final NC SessionSaturday 30th October10.30am - 12.30pm, Forest Bathing+ at Newlands Corner, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in the Surrey Hills, £25 (+ Eventbrite fee = £27.54). This is a 2 hour Forest Bathing+ session which will take place in all weathers except 30+mph winds.  Booking link

Important News about Newlands Corner. Newlands Corner, our beautiful ancient forest site in Guildford Surrey, have put up our site rental price so much that we don't know if we will be able to continue offering public sessions there. We had to cancel our September event as the venue hire cost wasn't going to be covered. So, if you want to join us Newlands Corner, please book in ASAP for one of our pre-Christmas dates as it is unlikely to feature as a 2022 destination. We will be forced to cancel Newlands events one week before if numbers are low, so please don't leave it to a last-minute booking or you stand to be disappointed.

31 October BST to GMTSunday 31st October is the end of the Summer Daylight Saving Time in 2021, so the UK clocks go back an hour at 01.00 hrs (Saturday night).

31 October Samhain HalloweenSunday 31st October traditionally marks the end of the harvest and the beginning of the Celtic and Pagan New Year. Samhain is Irish-Gaelic for 'the Summer's end', and is pronounced 'sow-in'. Samhain represents the death of the summer sun god, Lugh. This festival celebrates Nature's cycle of death and renewal.  This is traditionally known as Halloween. Samhain is one of the four Gaelic seasonal festivals; along with Lughnasadh, Imbolc and Beltane.

In the Northern Hemisphere, Samhain heralds the beginning of Winter, when the world starts to darken and the days are getting shorter; the 'dark half' of the year and the demise of the sun's uplifting influence. The crone, personified as Cailleach - the Queen of the Winter - was reborn on every All Hallow's Eve, returning to bring the Winter and protect animals through the coldest months. She turned to stone on Beltane Eve, Beltane being 1st May.

This year 31st is the final Sunday in October so this could be the chosen date for the annual October Plenty Festival traditionally held in Southwark on London Bankside. If it takes place at all in 2021 it will be an online event. In the past, this autumn harvest celebration would begin on the Bankside, by Shakespeare's Globe and would feature a mix of ancient seasonal customs and theatre with contemporary festivity, joining with historic Borough Market, Southwark.  The procession would normally feature a Berry Man - an autumn version of the Green Man but covered in fruits and foliage, plus a Corne Queene effigy comprised of wheat, barley and grain with apples and root vegetables supplied from the Borough Market.

September in Britain is back to school after the summer holidays. It's the month of harvest, blackberries abound on the bramble bushes and apples are plentiful on the trees, conkers and chestnuts are starting to ripen.

The month of September was named after 'septimus' meaning the 7th month in Latin. September was the 7th month when the year started in MarchTo the Anglo-Saxons, September was called Hālig-mōnaþmeaningHoly Month.

During September, we have the Equinox on 22nd, when night and day are equal length across the globe. This is co-inciding with the Khemitian (Khem being the ancient name for Egypt) Festival of the Two Lands. We can also look forward to three other annualEgyptian Festivals (4th, 5th & 19th)plus a selection of Jain (9th-11th), Chinese/Confucian (28th), and Roman (17th) annual commemorations and USA celebrates Labor day on the 6th. Sarah Jane has re-started her Women's Circle Moon Lodges, which is meeting on Friday 17th.  We have Forest Bathing events on the 5th (Guildford), 9th (London SW20) & 19th (Shere). The Full Moon takes place on the night of Monday 20th with the Harvest Moon peaking at 00.55 on the 21st; our Full Moon Meditation is 7.30-9.30pm (UK time) on Monday 20th. Harmony Healing Violet Flame of Amenti intractve online course starts on Tuesday 21st September.

01 Sep ecclesiastic calendarWednesday 1st September is the beginning of the Ecclesiastical Year the traditional Christian calendar. in Nicaea (325 AD), The First Ecumenical Council decreed that the Church year should start on 1st September. For the Hebrews, the month of September was the beginning of the civil year (Exodus 23:16), the month of gathering harvest and offering of thanks to God.

04 sep AnpuSaturday 4th September is the Ancient Egyptian Ceremony of Transformation through Anpu (Anubis)

An MP3 Meditation to overcome negative behaviour patterns is available from the Harmony Shop. The Egyptians believed that when a deceased soul entered the Halls of Amenti they would undergo a ceremony involving the metaphorical weighing of the heart (of the deceased) against Maat's feather.  During this ceremony, the weight of the heart represented the degree to which the deceased had lived in truth, measured by how much he/she had sinned; the more he/she had sinned the heavier the heart. The meditation guides you through a journey with Anpu to see how you would fare if your heart was weighed against Maat's feather at this point in your life. Whilst this meditation was devised for use on 4th September, it can be used anytime.
Anpu is the illegitimate child of Nebt-Het (Nephthys), born of her clandestine union with Ausar (Osiris) but raised as the son of Set. Cast out when his true lineage was discovered, he became associated with dark and lonely places, a wanderer through the shadow-realm between life and death, Anpu therefore bearing witness to the darker side of mortality. He seeks out those lost souls who find themselves without guidance after their demise. He guards the Entrance to the Underworld, presided over by his true father Ausar.  Hence, all who die will find themselves in the presence of this mysterious Jackel-headed God, who escorts them away from this world and to the gates of the next.
An informative laminated poster of Anpu (Anubis) by Jacqui Taliesin El Masry is available from the Harmony Shop along with other Egyptian Deity posters by Jacqui.

This popular Jain festiva is organised every year in the auspicious month ‘Bhadrapad’ (Mid-August to Mid-September) of the Hindu calendar and extends from the fifth day to fourteenth day of the bright fortnight. The festival ordains the Jains to observe the  universal supreme virtues in daily practical life: -

    Paryushan Parva
I bow to the Arahants, the perfected human beings.
I bow to the Siddhas, liberated bodiless souls.
I bow to the Acharyas, the masters and heads of congregations.
I bow to the Upadhyayas, the spiritual teachers.
I bow to the spiritual practitioners in the universe,Sadhus.
    This fivefold obeisance mantra,
    Destroys all sins and obstacles,
    And of all auspicious repetitions
    Is the first and foremost.

05 Sep DjedSunday 5th September is the Ancient Egyptian Ceremony of the Raising of the Djed Pillar.

The worship of the Djed pillar, and the annual 'Raising of the Djed' ceremony, is amongst the earliest ritualistic religious practices of ancient Egypt.

The Djed was stated to have arisen from the primordial mound of creation and believed to be the backbone of the Egyptian god Wzr (also known as Ausar or Osirus) though sometimes associated with the earlier Deity Ptah.

An informative laminated poster of Wzr (Ausar, Osirus) by Jacqui Taliesin El Masry is available from the Harmony Shop along with other Egyptian Deity posters by Jacqui.

SUKKOT 2Monday 20th Septemberis the start of Sukkot, the Jewish feast of the Tabernacles, it celebrates the harvest and the preservation of the Israelites in the wilderness.  Jewish feast dates begins at sundown of the night beforehand. Thus all holiday observances begin at nightfall and this festival ends at nightfall on Monday 27th September.

Violet Flame promoTuesday 21st September is the start of Harmony Healing Virtual Module: Violet Flame of Amenti (£88), 7.15-9.30pm (UK time), 2¼ hours for 3 consecutive weeks ending 5th October, held remotely on Zoom. This is 1 unit (of 3) towards Reyad Sekh Em (RSE) Level 1 Egyptian Alchemy Healing.

The colour violet has an established association with spirituality. Having the highest frequency in the visible spectrum, violet is at the point of transition to the next octave of light. During the pre-Dynastic period of Khem (Ancient Egypt), the Violet Flame of Amenti was ruled by the Deities Ausar (also known as Wzr or Osirus), brandished by Sekhmet, and made freely available to Akhenaton.

Both in Atlantis, and subsequently during the Essene era (which spanned the lifetimes of Mother Mary, Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene), this powerful tool was retained under the Guardianship of Angels Melchisadec and Ariel.

22 Sep Neteru of the two landsWednesday 22nd September is the Ancient Egyptian Ritual of the Neteru of the Two Lands

The Two Lands, comprising of Upper & Lower Egypt, were presided over by the more successful Pharoahs. To the north was Lower Egypt where the Nile fans into the Nile Delta. To the south was Upper Egypt, stretching to Aswan. The terms Upper and Lower Egypt are derived from the unusual geography of the Nile, which unlike most rivers, flows from south to north. Its origins are in the highlands of East Africa and it ends with the Nile Delta which drains into the Mediterannean Sea.

In Spiritual lore, Upper and Lower Egypt could be said to represent the higher and lower self of the human body, and as such would need to be integrated on an annual basis with the help of the Neteru (Deities or Angelic Beings).

The unification of Upper and Lower Egypt occurred in about 3000 BC, but the pschent - or double crown, worn by the Pharoahs represented the combined regalia of both areas; the hedjet or White Crown for Upper Egypt and the deshret or Red Crown for Lower Egypt, each half representing sovereignty of one of the kingdoms.

Established Ancient Egyptian tradition generally credits Menes (also known as Narmer), as the king who united Upper and Lower Egypt. On the Narmer Palette the king is depicted wearing the Red Crown in one scene and the White crown in another, and thereby showing his rule over both Lands.

22 Sep Autumn EquinoxWednesday 22nd September at 20:20 is the also Pagan Celebration of the Autumn Equinox, marking the time of harvest festival and fulfilment of summer; since, in the Northern Hemisphere, from now on there will be more dark than light for the rest of the year. An equinox is an astronomical event when the plane of Earth's equator passes the center of the Sun. Equinoxes occur twice a year, around 21st March and 22nd/23rd September.

In the southern hemisphere, this is the Spring Equinox.

At this point in the year, the night and day lengths are exactly equal, so it's a time of balance and a good time for introspection, look for what is good and worthwhile to become seeds for next year.

  • Chinese Hungry Ghost Festival, 25th August 2018

Full Moon Lantern Festival in Hoi An Vietnam 25th August 2018Saturday 25th August is also the Chinese Hungry Ghost Festival, this is the Buddhist Festival of All Souls or the Festival of Hungry Ghosts, when offerings are made until before the next New Moon (9th September) to spirits who have not yet found rest.

The Hungry Ghost Festival, also known as the Zhongyuan Festival, Takes place on the 15th day of the Ghost Month (which starts at a New moon), so it naturally co-incides with a Full Moon. This is the time when it was traditionally believed that the deceased would visit the living and are roaming in search of food, mischief-making and entertainment; hence it is sometimes referred to as the Chinese Halloween.

In many Far Eastern communities it is a time for big celebrations involving floating lanterns and feasts left out for the invisible visitors. The image to the right, taken by Amber Watkins, shows this year's Full Moon Lantern Festival in Hoi Ann, Vietnam, 25th August 2018.

  • Equinox Alder Super Full Moon, Thursday 21st March 2019

Moon Scarletts shotThursday 21st March @ 01.43 (Wednesday day night/Thursday morning) is Equinox Alder Full Moon.  It's also the third and final of three consecutive Supermoons.

A Supermoon is when the moon appears larger in the sky because it is reaches the closest proximity to Earth (known as the perigee*) coinciding with the New Moon or Full Moon. Since the New Moon is only a sliver to the naked eye, the Full Moon Supermoons are much more of a visual treat, when the moon may appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than on any other Full Moon occasion. Although it may not seem all that noticeable to us and of course it will depend on good clear viewing conditions; however due to an optical illusion, it will always look bigger and more luminous when closer to the horizon.

*The moon orbits around the Earth in an ellipse which takes just over 29 days, meaning that it reaches points in the year when it is at its closest (perigee, when it is about 363,000 km away) and furthest (apogee, when it is about 405,500 KM) from our planet. Those old enough might be reminded of Bed Knobs and Broomsticks when Angela Lansbury mentions the perigee and  apogee in one of her invocations!

On 14th November 2016, the moon reached its closest to the Earth since 26th January 1948 and it won't come closer to us until 25th November 2034! More at Earthsky Website.

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, this is the Alder Moon.  At this time of year the Alder is prominent and flourishing on the river banks, with its roots dipping in the water, offering itself up as a magical bridge between heaven and earth. Known as Fearn (pronounced Faerin) it is associated with Faerie Magic; an ideal time for spiritual decision-making relating to divination and prophesy, as well as for honing our intuitive skills. Alder twigs and flowers are well known charms in Faerie Lore, with Alder shoots being used to make whistles and flutes to commune with the air elementals. More about this at thoughtco.com. Being very close to the Equinox, the Alder Moon will carry the frequency of balance and harmony embodied by the Equinox when light and dark are in perfect balance.  Interestingly, this is also the remit of Cassiel, who is the Angelic Guardian of Saturday, and as this Full Moon falls on a Saturday we can expect this to boost the harmonising effect.

The time between any Full Moon and the next New Moon is a good time, energetically, to detox the body. I recommend an oil pulling technique, with coconut oil, which must be from a glass container for best taste.

Today is also a 3:3:3 numerologically.  See the Awaken Your Avatar Blog entry beneath.

  • Equinox Easter Alder Blue Full Moon, Saturday 31st March 2018

IMG 8443 archway with supermoon 1st jan 2018Saturday 31st March @ 13.37 is Equinox Easter Full Moon. It's also the Alder Moon.

Being the 2nd Full Moon in the calendar month of March, by the newer definitions it is a Blue Moon.

By the same definition there was another Blue Moon two months ago when we had Full Moons on the 2nd (image showing Full Moon over Kew Gardens is on the right) and 31st January. A Synodic Month (the time between two Full Moons) is 29.53 days on average, so it's more usual to have one per month, but if the month is long and there is a full moon at the very beginning (as happened this January and March) then we get two. The next Blue Moon by this definition will be in 2020!  It's rare to get two Blue Moons in the same calendar year; it last happened in 1999 and will next happen in 2037!

February did not have a Full Moon at all, making it a Black Moon month, although confusingly this can also refer to the 2nd New Moon in a calendar month or a month with no New Moon!  February is the only month when this can happen, especially in years when it only has 28 days.

The old definition of a Blue Moon was when there were four Full Moons, rather than the usual three, in an Astronomical Seasons. Spring begins on the spring equinox; Summer begins on the summer solstice; Autumn (Fall) begins on the autumn equinox; and Winter begins on the winter solstice. Known as the four Albans, these are four of the important eight festivals of the Pagan/Celtic/Gaelic Calendar. This moon does not constitute a Blue Moon by that definition.

Because Blue Moons (by either definition) are unusual - the last one before the 31st January this year was 31st July 2015 - the expression 'once in a blue moon' has come to mean something happening on rare occasions.  The moon can in fact appear blue in colour too, when the atmosphere is filled with smoke or dust particles of wider than 0.7 micron, which sometimes happens after a forest fire, volcanic eruption (such as Krakatoa, Indonesia in 1883) or dust storms.

Alder twigs and flowers are well known charms in Faerie Lore, with Alder shoots being used to make whistles and flutes to commune with the air elementals. More about this at the Celtic Weirdness website I happily stumbled upon.

As it's Easter this weekend too, this moon will carry the energy of the Pagan Deity Eostre (the ancient Pagan ceremony upon which I believe the Easter celebration was superimposed, see my post for Easter Sunday for more); representing fertility and associated with the Pagan Hare, another ancient symbol of fertility and with a 28 day gestation period very linked to the lunar cycle. In Ancient Egypt the hare is a hieroglyph meaning ‘existence’.

See my Facebook Live on Saturday 31st March is the Equinox Easter Alder Blue Full Moon (featuring the energies of this particular Full Moon event plus instructions on Oil Pulling and Angela McGerr's Angelic Meditation with Gabriel). Plus, if you're interested, 'Has Easter been superimposed onto an earlier Pagan celebration Eostre?'

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, and associated each with a tree; this is the Vine Moon(thoughtco.com). All over the northern hemisphere, at this time of year, the fruits of vine are ripe for harvesting and ready for the first stages of wine production. The vine is a symbol of passionate emotions whether expressing either joy or wrath. The Celts called the month Muin (Neopagans call it Mabon) and typical celebrations would include magical workings connecting with gardens involving both ends of the emotional spectrum (such as exhilaration and rage) acknowledging also the darker aspects of the Mother Goddess. Vine leaves can be used to enhance goals and ambitions. This year, being very close to the Equinox, the Vine Moon will carry the frequency of balance and harmony embodied by the Equinox when light and dark are in perfect balance.

Other names for a Full Moon in September are: Fruit Moon, Harvest Moon (Northern Hemisphere) or Worm Moon, Sugar Moon, Chaste Moon, (Southern Hemisphere). Names for the moon can also relate to the season, so this Equinox Moon could also be called the Harvest Moon, or Hunter’s Moon, Frosty Moon, Beaver Moon (after the autumnal equinox)or Grass Moon, Egg Moon, Planting Moon, or Milk Moon, Rose Moon, Flower Moon, or Strawberry Moon (after the spring equinox). Source = earthsky.org.

The time between any Full Moon and the next New Moon is a good time, energetically, to detox the body.  In view of this being an Equinox Full Moon (where the focus is on balance), I would say it's an even better time than usual for a detox.  I recommend anoil pulling technique, with coconut oil, which must be from a glass container for best taste.

  • Friday 19th April, Willow Full Moon

    Moon Scarletts shot

Friday 19th April @ 12.12 is the Easter Willow Full Moon.

Between Full Moon and the next New Moon is considered as a good time energetically for detoxing the body.

If you are an angel fan, the angel of the Moon is Gabriel. See link for instructions on Angela's Angelic Meditation with Gabriel.

To the right is a beautiful image of Gabriel by Richard Rockwood from my sister Angel McGerr's A Harmony of Angels book (and Harmony Angel Cards).

Both are out of print and collectible but we still have a few remaining copies via the Harmony Shop.

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, this is the Willow Moon.  At this time of year, Europeans can expect the best conditions for healthy growth of the Willow, namely lots of rain!  Known as Saille (pronounced Sahl-yeh) it is associated with healing and growth. Willows planted close to your home are reputed to provide protection from flooding, storms and other natural disasters, even warding away other dangers. More about this at the Celtic Weirdness website I happily stumbled upon.  This may be why they are often planted in cemeteries. Willow month is the time to work on healing rituals, building esoteric knowledge, studying women's mysteries and nurturing yourself and others.   Also see thoughtco.com.

  • Friday 27th February is Full Moon Healing Circle, Full Moon @ 08.17 Saturday 28th February

February Healing CircleFriday 26th Februaryis our monthly Full Moon virtual healing circleat 7.30-9.30pm (UK time = GMT).

This month it costs £10 (+ £1 Paypal fee). From next month, the cost will change.

During this session, we connect with other like-minded people and together we work through a mindful chakra balancing process using colours and etheric crystals, with the aim that all participants will experience a degree of unity consciousness.

This activity serves as a good taster of my work in general and the virtual format of our Zoom based programme.

Saturday 28th February @ 08.17 is Snow Full Moon.

Gabriel in corp coloursImage of Angel Gabriel (right) by Richard Rockwood, is taken from Angela McGerr's Harmony Angel cards; signed copies are available from the Harmony ShopClick here for Angela McGerr's Full Moon Meditation with Gabriel.

The Native American tribes named each moon to keep track of the months and seasons, called the February Full Moon the Snow Moon. There isn't a standardised system however, as some tribes took a year to be 12 moon cycles, whilst others went with 13 moon cycles. Similarly some tribes worked with five seasons per year whereas others went with four. The Snow Moon is apparently named because historically it's been the snowiest month in America. Other tribes knew it as the Hunger Moonbecause it isn't conducive to hunting. American Farmers have adopted these titles so that they are still used today. (See article in the Telegraph for more on this).

It was thought the Celts also had names for each Full Moon of the year, however it seems this is a Neo Pagan belief first proposed by Robert Graves in his book The White Goddess published in 1948. In it, Graves reinvented the genuine early-medieval Irish ogham alphabet, purported to be based on trees, and created a Celtic Tree Calendar, naming 13 months after trees. Although it isn't an ancient tradtiom, being a tree lover myself and interested in Celtic words, I find it rather charming.

So, according to Robert Graves's imaginings, this is the Ash Moon (learnreligions.com). The Druids, venerated all nature but the three most sacred trees to them was the Ash, Oak and Thorn. The Ash tree features a great deal in Irish and Scottish folklore (the latter also including the Rowan, a form of Mountain Ash).  In the 12th Century, Marie de France wrote one of her famous lais about the Ash. The Ash is associated with rituals, magic and prophesy, making it a perfect choice for divining. Indeed, traditionally, more tools were made from Ash than any other wood, because it's not only very strong but it also resists shock (better than other hard woods such as oak or beech) making it an ideal choice for tool handles.  Ash berries were placed inside a baby's cradle to prevent the child being replaced with a 'changeling'. One of Odin's names in Norse is Ygg, which also means Ash, with the World tree, Yggdrasil, being an Ash.  Odin's spear was made from this tree.

Whilst writing a previous Blog article I wondered if our word 'ash' for something burnt was derived from the possible act of burning the magical tools (made predominantly of Ash) in an attempt to destroy the power of the Celtic Priests.

Between Full Moon and the next New Moon (Saturday 13th March) is considered as a good time energetically for detoxing the body.

Anyway, whatever the weather conditions, it's a fantastic excuse to get people of all ages outside in the fresh air and re-connecting with nature. Something our modern lifestyles and obsession with technology can distract us from doing...

Aligning ourselves with the moon cycle is very therapeutic, hence being aware of the Full Moon (a good time for bringing projects to a conclusion) and the New moon (good for starting new projects) is excellent for bringing harmony and wellbeing into our lives.

If you would like to experience one of our spiritual offerings (meditation, reading, 1:1 healing, a Forest Bathing+ session or a full mentoring course), why not ask for a Harmony Healing gift voucherfor a birthday or other celebratory occasion?

A number of virtual courses are now ready, details on Harmony Healing Virtual Events. Currently, due to Coronavirus, most events will be virtual hence distant readings and healings are proving popular. We don't recommend giving a reading or healing to another person, without first checking whether it would be welcomed.

Joanna offers distant intuitive readings (past life and/or aura readings) and distant 1-2-1 healings and virtual healing circles. We also have meditations available.

  • Friday 30th August  @ 11.37, New Moon & Supermoon

New Moon image cropped toghtFriday 30th August @ 11:37 is the Pagan Dark Moon and this month it's a Black Moon as it's the 2nd New Moon in the same calendar month.  It's also the second of three consecutive New Moon Supermoons when the moon is at it's closest (Perigree) and could 30 per cent brighter and 14 per cent bigger to the naked eye. However as the New Moon is barely visible, we are unlikely to notice any difference.  More at Earthsky.org

It will be at it's brightest when the moon reaches lunar perigee (see note below) at 16.59 UK time, it will be the second and closest New Moon Supermoon of 2019.  Perigee timings are given at Lunarplanner.com.

The Supermoon will also bring about larger than usual perigean spring tides.  In case, like me, you are wondering what spring tides has to do with August, Spring tides are named not for the season, but to represent the sense of bouyancy, bursting forth, rising. They are now also known as Supermoon tidesor King tides.

This New Moon Abundance ritual  should be carried out within 24 hours after the New Moon. There are video instructions on my Harmony Healing Facebook Page

According to Elephantjournal.com in an article from 2018whereas New Moon energy usually last a few days, this intense, life-changing energy of this New Moon trio will remain for the full two month period, from the first Supermoon New Moon on 1st August until the final Supermoon New Moon on 28th September. Those sensitive to energies will feel the heightened charge as extremes of moods, with some sudden unexpected swings. Because Virgo is ruled by Mercury, communications will be intensified, making it advisable to speak carefully to minimise any misunderstandings. Mercury also influences travel plans, vehicles, buying/selling, negotiation, teaching and learning, agreements and contracts.

New Moons are good for setting intentions, so it's a fabulous day for creating a personal or corporate Vision Board for the rest of 2019.  For a list of Joanna's forthcoming Harmony Healing events, see this recent Harmony Healing Event Update

  • Friday 5th June, Hawthorn Full Moon & Penumbral Eclipse (& Angelic Meditation)

Moon Scarletts shotFriday 5th June @ 20.12 UK time(GMT/UT+1; click here to convert to your time zone) is the Hawthorn Full Moon. It's also a Penumbral Lunar eclipse. The eclipse will be at least partially visible in Asia, Australia, Europe and Africa. It will be visible in London between 21.01 and 22.04, with maximum effect at 21.06 when the entire moon is above the horizon, at this point it might even turn a darker shade.  However, penumbral eclipses are not always easy to discern at all.

This is the first of a series of three eclipses, with an annular solar eclipse 21st June and another penumbral lunar eclipse on 5th July. More details at timeanddate.com.

Even if we can't see much (or anything at all from some parts of the globe) there will still be an effect energetically. Tonight, Friday 5th June, we are holding the next Virtual Harmony Healing Circle, 7.30-9.30pm £11 (half price to VFoA & RSE graduates).

This eclipse falls in the 16th degree of Sagittarius.  Eclipses are said to warn us that things may not be as they seem. Reflection on alternative meanings could be advisable. Childhood issues may come up for clearing and we could be feeling vulnerable a few days either side, especially as our political environment could be making folks feel vulnerable anyway.  Astrologer Lisa Mendes says:

"Over the next 18 months or so, expect the spotlight to move from family dynamics and childhood traumas and wounds, to fall on how we make decisions and/or moral calls (faith vs reason) and discern fact from fiction when it comes to navigating the Information Age. Do we truly think logically when we make important political decisions, for example, or do we default  to deeply-held belief systems or become overly reliant on commonly-held assumptions? Elon Musk is quoted as saying that one way we can very quickly unplug from the matrix and start thinking independently is to question all assumptions and go back to first principles - not a bad idea, especially in an era where psychological manipulation and cyber warfare by stealth is mostly how elections are won."

See Lisa's astrologysphere.com website for more. For those interested in the impact of eclipses on their personal zodiac, Lisa offers complementary video 'eclipse-scopes' to her subscribers, you can sign up at her astrology sphere online shop.

The Full Moon is a powerful and appropriate time to show gratitude for life and the riches and bounty bestowed upon us by Mother Earth (Gaia).

The Moon shines due to its surface reflecting the Sun's rays. A lunar eclipse takes place when the Earth moves between the Sun and the Moon thereby blocking some or all of the Sun's light from reaching to the Moon. A penumbral lunar eclipse occurs when there is an imperfect alignment between the Sun, Earth, and the Moon; causing the Earth to block some of the Sun's light from reaching the Moon's surface. This covers all (or part of) the Moon with the outer edge of its shadow, which is also known as the penumbra. The penumbra is considerably fainter than the dark core of the Earth's shadow; hence a penumbral eclipse of the Moon is often difficult to distinguish from a normal Full Moon. See timeanddate.com for a detailed explanation.

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, this is the Hawthorn Moon following soon after Beltane. Known as Huath (pronounced Hoh-uh), the plant is prickly with pretty blossoms and is associated masculine energy, fire and fertility; tradition dictating that male potency is high at this time of year.  Hawthorn can be used for magic rituals involving masculine power (it has a raw phallic energy about it), making professional connections and business decisions. The faerie realm are said ti like it, with the fae being particularly attracted when Hawthorns grow together with Ash and Oak. See thoughtco.com.

Other names for a northern hemisphere Full Moon in June are: Strawberry Moon, Lotus Moon, Oak Moon, Cold Moon, Honey Moon, Mead Moon, Full Rose Moon or Long Night’s Moon.

The Strawberry Moon, was so named by the Algonquin tribe because it heralded the perfect time to pick wild strawberries. Indigenous tribes - such as the Native Americans - were much more aligned with lunar cycles (rather than our 'solar' calendar) and used labels to identify each moon with events in nature which coincided. See article in The Telegraph for more on this.

If you are an angel fan, the angel of the Moon is Gabriel. See link for instructions on Angela's Angelic Meditation with Gabriel.

  • Full Moon & Penumbral Lunar Eclipse, Tuesday 16th July

Supermoon over London 10 Aug 2014Tuesday 16th July @ 22:39 is the Full Moon and there will be a partial lunar eclipse (in Capricorn) visible at moonrise in London as well as most of the rest of Europe (except the far north), as well as from South America, Africa, Australia and most of Asia. The eclipse will only be seen in North America at the very southern & eastern parts of the continent. At maximum eclipse, well over half the moon will be in shadow. It's the second of two Eclipses which started with a partial solar eclipse on Tuesday 2nd July.

The image to the left shows a Full Moon over Hungerford Bridge, London.

According to London based Astrologer Tanya Cohen "This is a formidable eclipse which will bring everything we’ve been working on, particularly over the past six months, to a head.

With Saturn, Pluto and the South Node (our karmic past) in the mix we’re being encouraged to let go of structures, patterns and fears that may be stunting our growth.  At the same time we’ll have the opportunity to receive cosmic downloads and upgrades to help us enhance our true essence and spiritual wisdom.

With the Sun, Venus and the North Node all in Cancer, emotional liberation and regeneration will be within reach. Bring it on!"

I will be attending a workshop with Tanya on the evening of the eclipse so I'm looking forward to finding out more. There are some further astrological links about the eclipse below.

The Celts had names for each Full Moon of the year, this is the Holly Moon. Holly is an evergreen and reminds us that nature is eternal. The Holly Moon is called Tinne, pronounced chihnn-uh by the Celts, who saw holly as a masculine symbol of firmness. It was used in ancient times to make weapons but was also viewed as a protective wood, hence a sprig in the home is for abundance and safety. See thoughtco.com. No doubt J K Rowling considered this when she chose Harry's wand to be made of Holly.

Other names for a Full Moon in July are: Thunder Moon, Hay Moon (Northern Hemisphere) or Wolf Moon, Old Moon, Ice Moon (Southern Hemisphere). Names for the moon can also relate to the season, so this Full Moon could also be called the Thunder Moon, Hay Moon, Green Corn Moon, Grain Moon, Fruit Moon or Harvest (after the Summer Solstice i.e. Northern Hemisphere) or Old Moon, Moon After Yule, Snow Moon, Hunger Moon, Wolf Moon, Sap Moon, Crow Moon, Lenten  Moon (after the Winter Solstice i.e. Southern Hemisphere). Source = earthsky.org.

Anyway, whatever the weather conditions, it's a fantastic excuse to get people of all ages outside in the fresh air and re-connecting with nature. Something our modern lifestyles and obsession with technology can distract us from doing. Weather permitting, outdoor moon bathing can be very therapeutic, simply breathe the silver energy in and out and, if the mood takes you, undertake an outdoor meditation. It’s a wonderful time to put crystals (don’t put out any soluble crystals if it might rain) outside to be recharged by the lunar energy.

In the UK, this partial lunar eclipse, which is the last lunar eclipse of 2019, the main partial phase lasts from 21:01 to 23:59 (UK time = GMT/UT + 1).

Furthermore, whether the eclipse is visible or not, energetically we are all affected. Astrologically, lunar eclipses illuminate our shadow self, as defined by Carl Jung. This can be a challenging experience, as many of us are not keen (or even open) to acknowledging and addressing our faults. However, facing our suppressed emotions (such as anger, jealousy, greed) and confronting our fears provides a great opportunity to move forward in life; past what may have seemed to be insurmountable obstacles. Accepting that we have faults and integrating this knowledge internally is very beneficial for our personal spiritual development.

The Full Moon has a gravitation effect on the Earth, hence leading to a tidal impact on our oceans. Whilst it is has not been scientifically proven, it is logical to assume that this also has an impact on us as we are largely comprised of water (60-80% supposedly).

This particular eclipse with the Full Moon in Capricorn, is especially good for Taureans, Cancerians, Virgos, Scorpios, Capricorns and Pisceans, but it’s more challenging for everyone else. According to moonology.com (where you will find lots more details), the energy is repressed and resigned.

Another site offering lots of practical exercises over an eclipse period is mollyastrology.com. Thanks to Vivien Cottey for supplying these links.

Further energetic aspects are brought in by the lunar eclipse and the numerology of year 2019 which is a 3 year. The number 3 represents optimism, luck, and an abundance of energy.

Gabriel Harmony Angel CardIf you are an angel fan, the Angel Guardian of the Sun is Raphael, symbolising healing, science and knowledge. The angel Guardian of the Moon is Gabriel bringing hopes, dreams and aspirations.

To the right is a beautiful image of Gabriel by Richard Rockwood from my sister Angel McGerr's A Harmony of Angels book (and Harmony Angel Cards). Both are out of print and collectible but we still have a few remaining new copies signed by Angela (and some unsigned pre-loved editions) via the Harmony Shop.

See link for instructions on Angela's Angelic Meditation with Gabriel.

The time between any Full Moon and the next New Moon is a good time, energetically, to detox the body. In view of this being a elipse, I would say it's an even better time than usual for a detox.

I recommend an oil pulling technique, with coconut oil, which must be from a glass container for best taste.

Tuesday 16th July, being the day of the Full Moon in July, it is also Guru Purnima (the Full Moon of the Gurus) in Hindu tradition. The day of a full moon, Purnima, in the month of Ashadh of the Hindu calendar is traditionally celebrated as Guru Purnima by Hindus. On this day, devotees offer puja (worship) to their Guru. The Sanskrit root Gu means darkness or ignorance. Ru denotes the remover of that darkness. Therefore one who removes the darkness of ignorance is a Guru. It is a day for celebration and worship, a day on which the disciples remember and express their gratitude to the lineage of Gurus. Hindus believe that a Guru is necessary to make one understand the formless Divinity.

Tuesday 16th July is Asalhka Puja Day; a Buddhist commemoration of the Buddha's first public speech to five ascetics. He declared the middle way, the noble eight-fold path and the four noble truths upon which Buddhism is based.
