    Forest Bathing+

Forest Bathing comes from the Japanese term, ‘Shinrin Yoku’, the process of immersing the human spirit under a canopy of trees. It was developed to mitigate the high levels of stress experienced by businessmen in crowded urban environments and combines mindfulness, meditation and gentle exercise within an ambient forest location.

Ancient civilisations frequently venerated nature and gained insight and wisdom from their relationship with the natural world. Despite the fact that society is now more disconnected from the countryside, research supports the physiological benefits of Forest Bathing. Trees emit essential oils known as ‘phytoncides’ which have been proven to evoke relaxation and wellbeing. By immersing ourselves in ancient woodlands, we re-connect with nature and reinforce this relationship with the natural world.

The Forest Bathing Institute (TFBI) has pioneered the addition of enhanced sensory exercises and deep meditations to create Forest Bathing+, which helps promote mindfulness

Our Harmony in Nature Forest Bathing experience involves a slow exploration of woodland through our senses.  Cost is £35 per person for a 3-hour public session.  Rates for private sessions are negotiable.
Forest Bathing has been proven to have ongoing health and wellbeing benefits.  Backed by global evidence-based studies, especially in Japan, Korea, and more recently in the UK, research (relevant study hyperlinked in each case) shows Forest Bathing has the potential to:
We have been piloting some Forest Bathing sessions for the charity sector and we are currently running a 6-week course for Mind, Woking.  Initial feedback five weeks in, is excellent with many health improvements noted amongst participants.
Joanna and Katie feel that with the growth in eco-awareness and the drive for greener businesses there is an opportunity for us as providers with minimal (even positive) environmental impact to be supplying regular wellbeing maintenance sessions to employers/employees including schools and teachers.  As Forest Bathing becomes more accepted within the NHS and charity sectors this can only help.

Jo at NCJoanna's interest in Forest Bathing

Joanna grew up in an area dense with ancient woodland, and had the freedom to roam. Much of her childhood was spent playing in those woods with her sister, Fiona, largely unsupervised by adults.

She feels their childish enthusiasm encouraged a love of nature, animals, and woodlands, which laid the foundations for much of her subsequent interests and work.

Have spent 15 years + in senior management specialising in customer care and training, she was suddenly driven by a desire for inner peace and became interested in Ancient Egyptian philosophies and natural healing techniques.

Forest Bathing+ felt like a natural progression. She trained with, and is fully certified, by the Forest Bathing Institute (TFBI), who initiate ground-breaking research on its physiological, immunological, emotional and mental health benefits.

Image shows Katie (left) and Joanna (Right) in Newlands Corner, Guildford.

    Katie's interest in Forest Bathing

From a young age Katie spent multiple family holidays walking, youth hostelling and being outdoors whatever the weather, particularly in the Lake District and North Yorkshire Moors, so Katie feels right at home with Forest Bathing.

She has been on two survival courses, and loves learning which wild foods we can forage. She’s been self-employed for much of her working life, so she can do a mix of what she enjoys, which has included editing and dance instructing.

One of the most important things to her is managing her and her family’s health care with natural therapies, enabling them to be mainly independent of the mainstream. She advocates always doing your own research. The key components of her approach to health are nutrition, essential oils, homeopathy and walking amongst greenery; with visits to other practitioners as necessary.

Nature Therapy and Forest Bathing+ Sessions

Forest Bathing + can take place in multiple locations, but most of my sessions take place at Newlands Corner or in the grounds of the Harry Edwards Healing Sanctuary, close to the picturesque village of Shere, near Guildford in Surrey.

This Sanctuary focuses on Energy Healing which completely aligns with Forest Bathing+. All sessions take place in ancient woodlands and I will gently take you through a number of mindfulness-based sensory exercises and meditations that will enhance your appreciation of nature through all your senses.

Having spent over two decades working with healing energy (my company, Harmony Healing, was founded in 1999) the importance of nature in health and wellbeing is obvious. I can also run themed sessions incorporating nature angels, which may give you a useful introduction towards spiritual mentoring and expansion, RSE® Egyptian alchemy healing and practitioner training.

Garden Therapy sessions are also available for private and corporate bookings, either in your own garden (if suitable) or in a beautiful garden setting in Surrey.

Contact me for group and corporate Forest Bathing+ and Nature Therapy sessions. Blog updates, with seasonal activities, are emailed out to Harmony Healing subscribers.

Whilst undertaking the mindfulness sensory exercises during the session, participants will be asked to refrain from talking to each other (and avoid other distractions such as mobile phone use) so that all participants can gain the full benefits from the surroundings. Do come along with a friend provided they are keen to adopt the rules (and not seeing it a general catch-up). Please contact me on  with queries.

DOGS: Regrettably we cannot accept dogs on our Forest Bathing+ sessions unless they are trained Guide Dogs.

INCLEMENT WEATHER: We operate in all weathers (we just request that you wear appropriate clothing) except winds exceeding 30mph due to safety reasons.

Private Forest Bathing Sessions are available.

  • Forest Bathing Update 2022, Issue 1 - The Awakening Forest

Shaft of Light in the Winter Woodland

What an incredible week, with storm after storm, leaving a trail of disaster in roads and woodlands all over the UK. As I type this, we still have heavy gusts from Storm Franklyn and it's become a common site to see fallen trees, sadly cut and piled up by the side of the road.

As March approaches, we can look forward to extended daylight and the awakening of the forest with new growth at ground level as well as on the trees. And even where trees have fallen this last week, it will be amazing to observe the speed with which new saplings wll appear to fill the spaces.

Our friend and fellow Forest Bathing Guide, Lisa Duncan, has written an excellent guest journal entry on Forest Bathing for a wonderful UK based organisation called the Naked Pharmacy who offer amazing natural remedies made to pharmaceutical specifications. To read it, head over to the Naked Pharmacy Blog.

  • Forest Bathing Update 2022, Issue 10 - November & Slowing Down

    Autumn view square

November in Britain, with the clocks having gone back, features darker, colder nights, but is peppered with the explosive lights, sounds and smells of bonfires and fireworks, as Guy Fawkes Night (following Diwali, usually in October) is celebrated. Many animals, such as the hedgehog, start to hibernate for the winter.  Sometimes we humans feel like hibernating too, and in times past we would naturally have made changes to our daily lives. The magic touch of frost on the winter landscape can be utterly charming and provide a different kind of light.

This year in the UK, autumn has felt mild, and there’s still plenty of greenery about, along with the traditional colours of purple, brown, red and golden yellow, which will mostly be shed this month. Seed heads from 'old man's beard' in the hedgerows look magical as they catch the low sunlight and the morning dew. Seasonal in the kitchen this month we have Jerusalem artichokes, leeks, carrots, beetroots, parsnips, Brussels sprouts, kale, potatoes and winter squash  It remains good for harvesting chestnuts, hazelnuts and walnuts (particularly prolific this year) plus late-fruiting apples and pears, with a plethora of fungi, for those who know the edible from the ones best avoided.

The month of November was named after 'novem' meaning 9th in Latin, as November was the 9th month when the year started in March. To the Anglo-Saxons, November was called Blotmoneth, meaning “blood month” as this was traditionally the month of slaughtering and preserving meat to last through the winter.  It was also a month of feasting, as all the meat cuts which couldn’t be preserved were cooked up, making it a bountiful month, and helping folks keep warm.

During November, as well as Guy Fawkes Night, we can also look forward to the British Celtic Festival (specifically Irish, apparently) of Samhain (Celtic New Year = 1st November), which was a feast spread across three days, including bonfires representing the sun, and marking the start of the dark or winter period of the year, or Samonios. While Samhain marks the end of harvest and nature dying back, nature needs rest and renewal time, ready to burst out again in spring. For us, it is about nurturing ourselves, completing projects, and thinking about which aspects we want to bring forth in spring.

Joanna's Full Moon Meditation takes place 7.30-9.30pm (UK time) on Tuesday 8thwith the Beaver Moon peaking at 11:02. We also have the Leonid Meteor Shower peaking 17th/18th. We have Forest Bathing vouchers available as Christmas gifts.

Harmony in Nature Forest Bathing Events in Surrey/London

Despite the title, forest ‘bathing’ only involves water if it rains. We will be immersing ourselves in the woodland atmosphere, taking our senses for a meander among trees. You will learn how to enhance your perceptions and slow down, through the therapeutic benefits of guided mindful sensory activities with fellow nature lovers, becoming aware of what could easily be missed. We end with a ‘treelaxation’and aim to leave you feeling deeply relaxed and rejuvenated.

Forest Bathing is an evidence-based wellbeing activity. Spending time in woodland has been shown to potentially boost our immune system for 2-4 weeks, balance blood pressure, reduce blood sugars, stress and cortisol levels, amongst other benefits. Participants may feel a reduction in anxiety, depression or rumination, and an improvement in concentration, memory and creativity afterwards, as well as improved sleep.

We tend to offer fewer public sessions in the winter, although all our venues are available for private bookings, themed events and/or corporate sessions, so do enquire for details.

  • Forest Bathing Update 2022, Issue 2 - Spring Equinox & International Day of Forests

Shaft of Light in the Winter Woodland

The month of March was named after the Roman God of War, Mars. The Roman Calendar originally strated in March. To the Anglo-Saxons, March was called 'Hrēðmonath', named after a pagan fertility Goddess called 'Hreða' (also known as Rheda).

On 20th March, we have the Spring Equinox at 15:32. On the Equinox, light and dark are equal over the whole world: mark the moment of the Equinox with silence and stillness. Representing balance of opposites; it's a good time to bring balance into your life.

On 21st March, we have the International Day of Forests, and to mark this occasion we are offering a Tree Connection Workshop, featuring a 2-hour Forest Bathing session, plus an indoor workshop featuring some of our local trees and how to connect further via teas, tree essences and essential oils. See below for details.

  • Forest Bathing Update 2022, Issue 3 - Easter & Bluebells

Shaft of Light in the Winter Woodland

As we progress into April, a theme emerges which venerates spring, renewal and fertility as well as nourishment. Known for April Fool’s Day and April Showers, the month often hosts Easter, as it does this year. In the forest, we start to see (and smell) the beautiful bluebells, a marker of ancient woodland, which reach their full splendour in May.

The month of April was supposedly named after the Roman Goddess Venus (leading to Her Veneralia festival on 1st April), originally named Aphrilis after her equivalent Greek Goddess Aphrodite (Aphros) or the Etruscan version Apru. To the Anglo-Saxons, April was called Easter-mōnaþ "Easter Month", "Month of the Goddess Ēostre".  No prizes for guessing which Christian Festival took its name from this annual festival.

We're taking a break for Easter, so this month we only have one public forest bathing session, £35, 11-2, on the 24th April (Harry Edwards, Shere, Surrey), where we may be lucky to encounter some early bluebells of which there are thousands here; this lovely venue becomes stunning when they are in bloom.

I am delighted to announce that the talented Vanessa Potter has completed Series 3 of her Finding Your Right Mind Podcasts all about ParkBathe: Nature's de-stress revolution. The series highlights the benefits of immersing ourselves in woodland and features interviews with many experts on Forest Bathing, including Joanna.

Next month, we have Mental Health Awarenesss week 9th-15th May, when we will offer two public sessions on Monday 9th, 11-1.30, £35, at Cannon Hill Common (London SW20) and on Sunday 15th we are offering our first full-day themed on nature angels at Harry Edwards, Shere.  The morning is an indoor nature angel workshop (£50) and the afternoon is a nature angel themed bluebell forest bathing session in the private grounds (£40), or special all-day price of £77.

For those wanting a mainstream Bluebell Forest Bathing Session (without the Nature Angel theme) at Harry Edwards, we have one, 11-2 on Sunday 22nd May, £35.

Also during Mental Health Awareness Week, we are launching a 6-week Forest Bathing series for the local branch of the mental health charity Mind, with Katie and myself as the guides. This has been co-ordinated by The Forest Bathing Institute (TFBI) who have worked tirelessly to introduce Forest bathing as an acceptable evidence-based therapy to the NHS and the charity sector. A similar 6-week series has already started for another charity, guided my one of our colleagues. The launch of these charity programmes is a momentous development.

Through a selection of simple sensory activities, you will learn how to enhance your perceptions and slow down to focus on what could easily be missed. We end with a treelaxtion;  a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating experience, and which, despite the title forest bathing, does not involve any swimming!

Some of the scientifically proven benefits of spending time in woodland include reduced stress levels, stronger immune system response, and a stabilised cortisol cycle.

  • Forest Bathing Update 2022, Issue 4 - May Celebrations + Mental Health Awareness week

square insta bluebell at HE 22MayMay is a month when our Pagan heritage breaks through into parochial folklore.

May Day, also known as Beltane, is a Pagan Festival still celebrated in parishes across the country featuring elaborate traditions involving May Poles, floral-dressed girls bedecked with flower garlands, Morris Dancers, Green Man imagery, hobby horses etc.

We usher in the promise of sunshine and summer as we welcome green shoots and abundant blossom everywhere, not least the Mayflower (Hawthorn) associated with the old adage, ne'er cast a clout till May be out (which I always assumed meant the month itself)...

The month could be named after Maia, a Greek Goddess linked with the land, fertility and growth. To the Anglo-Saxons, it was called Thrimilci, the month when cows could be milked three times a day due to constant grazing on abundant new grass.

Mental health awareness week 2022This month we have Mental Health Awarenesss week 9th-15th May, when we will offer two public sessions on Monday 9th, 11-1.30, £35, at Cannon Hill Common (London SW20) and on Sunday 15th we are offering our first full-day themed on nature angels at Harry Edwards, Shere.

Also during Mental Health Awareness Week, we are launching a 6-week Forest Bathing series for the local branch of the mental health charity Mind in Woking, with Katie and myself as the guides. This has been co-ordinated by The Forest Bathing Institute (TFBI) who have worked tirelessly to introduce Forest bathing as an acceptable evidence-based therapy to the NHS and the charity sector. • Forest Bathing Update 2022, Issue 5 - June & Summer Solstice

square insta bluebell at HE 22May

June is British summertime. The roses bloom, imprinting their perfumed scent into the extended evenings leading to the Solstice on the 21st. Garden flowers and hedgerows are splendidly colourful and summer berries are abundant. Seasons are topsy turvey with the elderflower, usually a May blossom, in full bloom as June begins. After two crazy years, we will relish the picnic season with strawberries & ice-cream plus elderflower cordial; despite optimism versus realism whilst planning for both rain and/or sunburn risk.

The month could be named after Juno, the Roman Goddess linked with marriage. To the Anglo-Saxons, it was called sera monath (dry month), which is not necessarily our modern-day experience.

In UK, on 21st June, we have the Summer Solstice marking the turning point of the year, after which days start to get shorter again. We have just completed Week 5 of a 6-week course for the charity'Mind' (in Woking) and we are delighted with the results which are also being studied by Derby University. We have a Surrey Forest Bathing event on Saturday 25th at the private woodlands in the grounds of the Harry Edward's Healing Sanctuary (Burrows Lea, near Shere, Surrey).

We can hire our venues at Cannon Hill Common (SW20), Horsell Common (Woking GU21) and Harry Edwards (Surrey Hills near Shere) for forest bathing use for private groups, enquire for details. Next month, we hope to start offering monthly sessions at the Kosmon sanctuary in Tadworth. See below for more about our forthcoming public events.

  • Forest Bathing Update 2022, Issue 6 - July & Lavender

    square insta lavender

July is the height of British summertime. Time for the orchids, delphiniums, dahlias, hydrangeas, irises and sunflowers to bloom, and the lingering perfumed scent of lavender, roses, honeysuckle, gardenias and jasmine on the night air. Traditionally, here in the UK, July features the Wimbledon Championship tennis finals and Henley Regatta.

The month of July was renamed to honour Julius Caesar, who was born in this month. Under Roman rule it was previous called Quintilis, meaning the 5th month in Latin. This was before January became the opening month of the calendar year, when the Gregorian calendar was established by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582. To the Anglo-Saxons, it was called Æftera Līþa (after midsummer).

  • Forest Bathing Update 2022, Issue 7 - August & Summer Outdoor Festivals

August in Britain is school summer holidays. Time for summer camping, sunshine and outdoor festivals and, our Summer Bank Holiday, this year on Monday 29th August, with typically lots of rain.  As someone with a late August birthday I can testify to rain being very common indeed.

The month of August was renamed by Augustus Caesar, after himself. Under Roman rule it was previous called Sextilllia, meaning the 6th month in Latin. When the Gregorian calendar was established by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582, January became the opening month of the calendar year. To the Anglo-Saxons, August was called Ƿēodmōnaþ meaning ‘weed (or grass) month’.

WhatsApp Image 2022 08 08 at 8.25.35 PM 1Katie and I started the month at the Sun & Moon Festival (Merrist Wood, Guildford), where we offered a selection of workshops and three Forest Bathing Taster Sessions. We had 39 at one of the Taster sessions!

The Sun & Moon festival itself was absolutely amazing and we'll definitely be back next year; 1st - 8th August, put the dates in your 2023 diary now.

We have full Surrey Forest Bathing events on Wednesday 17th August at Harry Edwards Healing Sanctuary(near Shere, Surrey) and the Kosmon Sanctuary (Tadworth, near Epsom, Surrey) on Thursday 18th August The Full Moon Guided Healing Meditation is taking place on Thursday 11th, the night before the Sturgeon Supermoon which reaches its peak @ 02:36 (Thursday night/Friday morning).

Last month, Joanna visited the Hampton Court Flower Show Forest Bathing Show Garden, see Katie's article below, and under that, our forthcoming Forest Bathing events.

Recreating a sense of the forest in a small garden – RHS Forest Bathing Garden, Hampton Court Flower Show, Designed by Dave Green, who kindly supplied the graphics.

When the Duchess of Cambridge was involved in creating a forest bathing-inspired garden for the 2019 Chelsea Flower Show, there was a sigh of relief within The Forest Bathing Institute where we trained, and the hard work of previous years, trying to interest the NHS, Universities and the media in forest bathing and get some coverage of its many benefits to human health and wellbeing, started to pay off.

HamptonCourt1 Forest BathingThree years on, and garden designer Dave Green created the ‘RHS forest bathing garden’ for the Hampton Court Flower Show last month. He first experienced forest bathing during studies in Japan in 2016, and clearly understands the concept, describing it in the July 2022 edition of ‘Pro Landscaper’ magazine:

Most of the time, forest bathing is a guided practice, with a practitioner getting you to undertake activities to engage with where you are. A forest is really good with that, because it has different sights, sounds, textures and smells – all of which can help your senses to focus on where you are at the present time.’

HamptonCourt2 Forest BathingTo recreate the protective sense of forest immersion in a small patch of busy showground, he used mounds on either side of the path to shield wanderers from the busy world beyond, planting a mix of ferns, native UK woodland plants and some Japanese ones, as well as some large trees and shrubs to provide a sense of tree canopy. The different textures of landscaping, including plants, wood and stone are all part of the sensory experience.

During a conversation with Joanna, he described creating the winding path to slow down the pace of those walking the route, and seems to have covered many aspects of the woodland experience, although to supply ambient sounds and smells required modern technology! In the light of the fact that his forest bathing garden was minus a practitioner, we have offered our services for the future, so watch this space.

    Surrey/London Forest Bathing Events

Through a selection of simple sensory activities, you will learn how to enhance your perceptions and slow down to focus on what could easily be missed. We end with a treelaxtion;  a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating experience, and which, despite the title forest bathing, does not involve any swimming!

Some of the scientifically proven benefits of spending time in woodland include reduced stress levels, stronger immune system response, and a stabilised cortisol cycle.

Our sessions take place in all weathers except 25+mph winds or electrical storms.

? ☕When we have the right clothing and footwear, usually plenty of layers, and a spare, we can happily stay outdoors for hours. Even longer if we take a hot drink and a snack!

  • Forest Bathing Update 2022, Issue 8 - September & Harvest

September FB newsletter Issue 8September in Britain is back to school after the summer holidays. It's the month of harvest, blackberries abound on the bramble bushes and apples are plentiful on the trees, conkers and chestnuts are starting to ripen.

The month of September was named after 'septimus' meaning the 7th month in Latin. September was the 7th month when the year started in MarchTo the Anglo-Saxons, September was called Hālig-mōnaþmeaningHoly Month.

During September, we have the Equinox on 23rd, when night and day are equal length across the globe. It's a good day to focus on harmony and balance.

This year we will be running one-hour taster Forest Bathing sessions at the Surrey Hills Wood Fair in Cranleigh on the 10th/11th September weekend (see below for full details). We have full Forest Bathing events on the 13th (Tadworth/Epsom), 17th (Shere), 29th (London SW20). • Forest Bathing Update 2022, Issue 9 - October & Halloween

Autumn view squareOctober in Britain features the full splendour of autumn colours with an array of brown, red and golden yellow mixed with the remaining green as trees shed their leaves. Nature is truly remarkable; this process eliminates environmental toxins which have collected, and trees do it to protect themselves. In winter sunshine, water would continue to evaporate from the leaves, and should the ground water freeze, the tree's water supply would no longer be guaranteed. Hence the plant produces phytohormones and directs them to its leaf stalks. These hormones cause a corky layer to form, then the leaves fall off. This cork prevents pathogens such as fungi or bacteria from penetrating. Furthermore, without leaves, should it snow, the tree will not have to bear the additional weight of snow on the leaf surfaces, and wind will pass through with less likelihood of damage.

This month is the ideal time to harvest chestnuts, conkers and apples and on the allotments we have many seasonal vegetables including broccoli, leeks, turnips, potatoes, kale, plus of course squashessuch aspumpkin. The month provides plentiful supplies forapple bobbing and pumpkin carving, which became associated with Halloween, celebrated on the 31st. We also have two separate sets of Meteor Showers, the Draconids (peaks 8th/9th) and the Orionids (peaks 20th/21st).

The month of October was named after 'octo' meaning 8th in Latin, as October was the 8th month when the year started in March. To the Anglo-Saxons, October was called Winterfylleth, or the “winter full moon,” because winter was said to begin on the first full moon in October.

Harmony in Nature Forest Bathing Events in Surrey/London

Despite the title, forest ‘bathing’ only involves water if it rains! We will be immersing ourselves in the woodland atmosphere, taking our senses for a meander among trees, and you will learn how to enhance your perceptions and slow down to focus on what could easily be missed. We end with a ‘treelaxation’, and aim to leave you feeling deeply relaxed and rejuvenated.

Forest Bathing is an evidence-based wellbeing activity. Spending time in woodland has been shown to boost our immune system for 2-4 weeks, balance blood pressure, reduce stress and cortisol levels, blood sugars, anxiety and rumination, as well as improve sleep, memory, concentration and creativity.

Our first October event is Jo’s talk on Wednesday 5th at the Guildford Institute, where you can join in person or online for £5. Forest Bathing: Finding Harmony In Nature. Bookings via Guildford Institute Website.

We have nature connection forest bathing events on Sunday 9th (Shere), which can be extended to whole day, below, Thursday 20th (London SW20) and Wednesday 26th (Tadworth).

Special All-day Event, Sunday 9th October
Connecting with the Moon Cycle & Full Moon Forest Bathing, 9.30-4.15
Our new two-part event in Shere involves a morning indoor workshop looking at how aligning our lifestyles with the moon cycle can benefit us, followed by a break for lunch, then a three-hour forest bathing nature connection session. Each part can be booked separately, for £50 and £40 respectively, or both for £77.

Our Forest Bathing this Autumn (listed separately by venue below):

Surrey Hills Wood Fair, Cranleigh, 10th & 11th September

We have to mention this event, as over 7,000 wood enthusiasts came through the gates, and it was a pleasure to meet so many new people attracted to the event through woodlands, activities in woods, or the beauty of wood as a material.  Joining up with Lisa of Hinoki Forest Bathing, the two-day event kept us busy, and we ran some sessions for adults and one family session, which went down well. We’ll definitely be returning next year.

Great Big Green Week, 24th Sept - 2nd Oct

Last year 5,000 sessions took place during the week, making it the UK’s biggest ever nature and climate event.  Events take place outside around the country and online, so you’ll find a wide variety of events to join in with. A flavour of events near us:

    • a recycling clothing event, to avoid the obscene amount of clothing which finds its way to landfill each year
    • an eco-fayre, with ways to rethink, re-use, re-purpose, repair, refill…
    • an introduction to mindfulness
    • a quiet track bike ride
    • a community feast with leftovers from food businesses to avoid waste
    • a bat walk

    …you get the picture.

  • Harmony in Nature - March Issue

Harmony in Nature March Issue - Spring Awakening

    HiN Mar issue V1

During March, we can look forward to extended daylight and the awakening of nature everywhere. As well as new green buds sprouting on the trees, we start to see new growth at ground level, with a plethora of camelias, crocuses, hellabores, daffodils, narcissi, hyacinths and daphne; some with a lovely subtle fragrance. Where trees have fallen during the colder, windy weather we can observe the speed with which new saplings appear to fill the spaces.

The month of March was named after the Roman God of War, Mars, and their calendar originally started in March. To the Anglo-Saxons, March was called 'Hrēðmonath', named after a pagan fertility Goddess called 'Hreða' (also known as Rheda).

March is also a month for celebrating women in the modern calendar, with International Women’s Day (8th) and Mothering Sunday (26th). If an outdoor nature experience rather than physical items would appeal to someone in your life, Harmony In Nature vouchers are available in the Harmony shop.

According to author Robert Graves, our month of March bridges two Celtic moon months (named after the Celts 'ogham' tree alphabet: the Ash moon (Feb 18th-March 17th) and the Alder moon (March 18th-April 14th). The Ash was the Norse 'world tree', Yggdrasil, and one of three trees (with oak and thorn) considered sacred to the Druids. Ash month is good for working on the self, and alder is a good month for making spiritual choices and getting in touch with your own intuitive processes.

    University of Derby study findings

Harmony In Nature was recently involved in running one of the six-week courses for mental health and other supportive charities, through The Forest Bathing Institute. Self-assessed questionnaires were completed before and after each session. Of the 10 participants in our group, nine completed the course and five came to all six sessions, which was apparently very unusual for the charity. Fellow guides ran various other charity sessions with different groups, and the initial results are very exciting.

Dr Kirsten McEwan, Associate Professor and a Forest Bathing guide colleague, notes:

"The greatest improvements were as follows: in week 2, nature connection increased by 89%, anxiety reduced by 69%, and a health measure which assesses mobility, self care, anxiety, depression and pain reduced by 35%. In week 1, health improved by a massive 412%, and by week 5 social connection had increased by 50%."

This is all a wonderful boost to understanding why we feel better in nature, and is more data to add to build the case for integrating forest bathing into the NHS.

    Bluebell Sessions
We have a busy schedule coming up, incuding the rare chance to thread our way through the carpet of bluebells at Harry Edwards in April and May (the exact duration of these being nature's surprise). We have earmarked some dates for private sessions.

If you have a group of friends or colleagues who would enjoy this uniquely seasonal experience, we suggest you secure one of the below dates, especially as we are offering 3 hour sessions for up to 10 participants for just £300 for this year only. See Harry Edwards section below.

    Rate Increase
From 1st April our rates will be increasing to £40 for 3-hour sessions.

Harmony in Nature Events in Surrey/London

Our nature immersion sessions involve a leisurely amble through woodland, observing and connecting with nature as it awakens to spring: see the subtle movements and patterns, smell the daffodils, stroke the bark, listen to the birds.  The session culminates with a treelaxation, our unique nature meditation under the canopy of trees, and an optional woodland tea. We aim to leave you feeling deeply relaxed and rejuvenated.

Forest Bathing is an evidence-based wellbeing activity. Spending time in woodland has been shown to potentially boost our immune system for 2-4 weeks, balance blood pressure, reduce blood sugars, stress and cortisol levels, amongst other benefits. Participants may feel a reduction in anxiety, depression or rumination, and an improvement in concentration, memory and creativity, as well as improved sleep.

All our venues are available for private bookings, themed events and corporate sessions, so do enquire for details.

We have Forest Bathing events scheduled this month on the 18th at Harry Edwards, Shere (Surrey) and the 21st, which is also the International Day of Forests, at Cannon Hill Common, London SW20. See below for details.

☕ We go out rain or shine, since, with the right clothing and footwear, usually plenty of layers, and a spare, we can happily stay outdoors for hours. Even longer if we take a hot drink and a snack to warm us up!

  • Harmony in Nature - February Issue

HiN Feb issue V2February in Britain sees the steady increase of daylight hours leading us towards spring, but air temperature remains unpredictable with this often presenting as the coldest month of the year with reasonable chance of snow. Look out for snowdrops poking through the soil, together with the yellow, white and violet of crocuses (or croci, apparently both plural forms are acceptable). The subtle aroma of witch hazel blossoms may linger. and the pretty white flowers of the wood anemone, known as an indicator of ancient woodland (rather like bluebells come May), may also appear but it's still early for them. Local ponds should be full of frogspawn, as well as similar gelatinous spawns laid by toads and newts.

The month of February was named after the Roman God Februa(sometimes called Februus) and his annual Roman springtime festival of purification and cleanliness. To the Anglo-Saxons, February was called 'Sōlmōnath', derived from 'sōl' - an Old English word for wet sand or mud. However, according to medieval scholar Bede, it relates to the month when ritual offerings of loaves of bread and savoury cakes were typical to ensure a good year’s harvest.

Joanna's Full Moon Meditation takes place 7.30-9.30pm (UK time) on Sunday 5th, with the Snow Moon peaking at 23:07. We have Forest Bathing and Harmony Healing vouchers available as gifts.

Harmony in Nature Forest Bathing Events in Surrey/London

Forest bathing involves us immersing our senses in the woodland atmosphere, taking them for a meander among trees.

We tend to offer fewer public sessions in the winter, although all our venues are available for private bookings, themed events and corporate sessions, so do enquire for details.

Our only public 2½-hournature connection forest bathing event of the year is Sunday 26th February. See below for details.

☕ With the right clothing and footwear, usually plenty of layers, and a spare, we can happily stay outdoors for hours. Even longer if we take a hot drink and a snack to warm us up!

  • Harmony in Nature April Issue - April Showers

HiN Apr issue Bluebells at Harry Edwards

As we progress into April in the UK, the emerging new life and fertility become clear as we see white, pink and yellow blossom on trees, in hedgerows, on shrubs, and with green shoots in the ground giving a clear sign that life and warmth are returning. Spring may be further advanced in urban areas (always a few degrees warmer than the countryside) where the mass and number of buildings can retain warmth from heating systems and the sun for longer. Changes in the sights, sounds, smells and feel of nature re-emerging after the colder, darker part of our year may be more rapid or noticeable in our towns, so we can all benefit from tuning into these natural signs, and feel thankful to our senses for enabling this. Spring is a reminder that darkness, suspension of growth and the breaking down of matter is a natural and necessary process to allow us to create nourishment and renewal when the time is right, in whichever ways feel right to us.

If we consciously choose to notice our surroundings with whichever of our senses appeal in the moment, walking frequently past the same area can change from a mundane necessity to a joyful activity as we tune in to the differences over the coming days, weeks and months. In our forests, we start to see (and smell) the beautiful bluebells, a marker of ancient woodland, which reach their full splendour in May. For clarification, the bendy stalks are the traditional English bluebells, while the more invasive Spanish ones are straighter.

April for many is likely notable mainly for April Fool’s Day tricks and April Showers (‘what, more than this March?’ you cry), and the month often hosts Easter, as it does this year. You may like to note that it is officially Earth Day on 22nd, while some of us hope that eventually every day will become Earth Day, when we appreciate the true beauty, wellbeing benefits and non-financial value of all it offers us.

For those who celebrate the chance to get outdoors, we have the Lyrids Meteor shower peaking as usual 21st April, and we have several Nature Connection Forest Bathing events, mainly at Harry Edwards Healing Sanctuary, near Shere (Surrey), which will hopefully feature some bluebells, of which there are thousands on site.

According to author Robert Graves, our month of April bridges two Celtic moon months, named after the Celts 'ogham' tree alphabet: the Alder moon (March 18th-April 14th) and the Willow moon (April 15th-May 12th). The Alder moon is considered is a good month for making spiritual choices and getting in touch with your own intuitive processes. The Willow flourishes with rain and water, and offers protection. Willow moon month is associated with personal work and rituals around growing our knowledge, healing and nurturing, including emphasis on feminine energies.

Benefits of six-week sessions –  University of Derby study findings

Harmony In Nature was involved last year in running one set of six-week courses for mental health and other supportive charities, through The Forest Bathing Institute, using ‘before’ and ‘after’ self-assessed questionnaires. Fellow guides ran various other sessions with different charities, and initial results are exciting. As Dr Kirsten McEwan, Associate Professor and a Forest Bathing guide colleague, notes:

"The greatest improvements were as follows: in week 2, nature connection increased by 89%, anxiety reduced by 69%, and a health measure which assesses mobility, self-care, anxiety, depression and pain reduced by 35%. In week 1, health improved by a massive 412%, and by week 5 social connection had increased by 50%."

Charity session image March 2023Understanding why we feel better in nature is more data to add to building the case for integrating forest bathing into the NHS. We are currently running another course of six with a larger group of 20 from three different charities, participating in research monitored by a student from UCL.

The data from just the first week is positive, and we are enjoying connecting three groups with disparate experiences. We even had an amazing report from one participant (three weeks in) that his peripheral vision has improved significantly.Corporate sessionWWF session 29 3 23

Last week we also ran a corporate session with Communication colleagues from WWF International on Horsell Common, Woking. It was a pleasure to host them in the woods, and watch nature working its soothing magic.

Despite the forecast of likely rain and high winds, we could barely discern any gusts, and had to choose our moment when it appeared for watching movement. The mud was notable, but rain did not arrive until we had finished. And then it poured! Whilst there's no guarantee, nature usually seems to look after our participants' comfort by holding off until its worst later.

Rate IncreaseFrom 1st April our rates increased to £39.77 for 3-hour sessions.

• Harmony in Nature June Issue - Blossom & Fragrance

    Blossom and Fragrance

HiN June issueJune is the start of British summertime. The roses bloom, imprinting their perfumed scent into the air of the extended evenings, leading to the astronomical marking of the first day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, also the longest day, by the Summer Solstice on the 21st, which is celebrated by many cultures around the world. Midsummer’s Day on 24th harks back to an earlier calendar which marked differently.

Garden flowers are colourful, and, depending on your location, wild hedgerows are splendid with hawthorn blossom and elderflower (the basis for elderflower cordial), replacing the departing holly blossom. In the trees, the horse chestnut blossom spires will soon be joined by the scented bracts of lime flower, which you may smell before you see them. Lime flowers, also known as linden blossom, can make a softly aromatic bedtime infusion, which the French have been drinking for centuries, as ‘tilleul’. With so much blossom, combined with warm air, you may well be noticing that smells are stronger at this time of year. Summer berries are abundant, and strawberries are in demand for the picnic season. We hope the warmer weather encourages you to choose to take yourself out into nature more often, whether that be a swift five-minute tea break on a patch of green, to sit by a few plant pots, to picnic in a park, or immerse yourself in some natural beauty for a few hours. As if you needed reminding, on really hot days, the coolest places to be are under a canopy of trees!

The month could be named after Juno, the Roman Goddess linked with marriage. To the Anglo-Saxons, it was called sera monath (dry month), which is not necessarily our modern-day experience.

Joanna's Full Moon Online Guided Meditation is 7.30-9.30pm UK time on Saturday 3rd June.

For those who celebrate the chance to get outdoors, we have the BootidMeteor shower visible 21st June - 2nd July, peaking around 23rd June. We have one Nature Connection Forest Bathing event at Harry Edwards Healing Sanctuary, near Shere (Surrey) on Sunday 11th June and one in SW20 Wednesday 28th June.

According to author Robert Graves, the month of June bridges two Celtic moon months, named after the Celts 'ogham' tree alphabet: the Hawthorn moon (May 13th - June 9th) and the Oak Moon (June 10th – July 7th). The Hawthorn Moon period emphases fire, fertility, and masculine energy. This is considered a good time for making business connections and decisions, and conceiving a child. The hawthorn may be used in magic rituals to celebrate the power of the masculine element. The Oak Moon arrives as the trees are nearing their fullest, and the oak was one of the Druids’ sacred trees.

This strong, powerful tree was, unsurprisingly, connected with spells for protection and strength, but also for fertility, good fortune and success. Two ways the oak could help with this are by taking an acorn with you to an important meeting for good luck, and by catching a falling oak leaf before it hits the ground, which will bring good health for the year.

We are very excited to be going to the presentation of her Masters research at UCL on 6th June.

While we know what participants said to us, we don’t know what they said to Katt’s research questionnaires and interviews, so we’re keen to find out! Forest Bathing Guide training interview

Forest Bathing Video as part of a series on Healing Modalities

    Nadege's video May 2023

Last week, Joanna and Katie were interviewed by Nadege in the grounds of Harry Edwards Healing Sanctuary as part of her series on healing modalities.

The footage is currently in the editing stage so we will post the link in next month's Harmony in Nature update.

We had great fun crafting a Forest Bathing microphone stand out of a stick and, after a couple of trial takes to check the set up, we are delighted to say the whole video was filmed in one continuous take.

  • Harmony in Nature May Issue - Green Man & Coronation

HiN Apr issue Bluebells at Harry Edwards

May is a month when our Pagan heritage breaks through into parochial folklore. 1st May is Belane, also known as May Day, with the UK Bank Holiday being the first Monday of the month, which this year is May Day itself. Beltane is a Pagan Festival still celebrated in parishes across the country featuring elaborate traditions involving May Poles, floral-dressed girls bedecked with flower garlands, Morris Dancers, Green Man imagery, hobby horses etc.

During May, as well as our own traditional British Festivals plus Mental Health Awareness Week (15th - 21st) and we can look forward to Roman and Egyptian celebrations as well as a lunar eclipse. On the 5th we have a Flower Beltane Full Moon with a penumbral lunar eclipse which is not visible in the UK (except perhaps in the extreme south east) or most of Europe - but we will still be affected energetically. Eclipses always bring the unseen into focus. Joanna's Full Moon Online Guided Meditation is 7.30-9.30pm UK time on Friday 5th May.

For those who celebrate the chance to get outdoors, we have the ETA Aquariid Meteor shower visible 4th-6th May, peaking around 5th/6th May, and we have several Nature Connection Forest Bathing events, mainly at Harry Edwards Healing Sanctuary, near Shere (Surrey), which will hopefully feature some bluebells) not much happening in April this year), of which there are thousands on site.

According to author Robert Graves, our month of May bridges two Celtic moon months, named after the Celts 'ogham' tree alphabet: the Willow moon (April 15th - May 12th) and the Hawthorn Moon (May 13th - June 9th). The Willow flourishes with rain and water, and offers protection. Willow moon month is associated with personal work and rituals around growing our knowledge, healing and nurturing, including emphasis on feminine energies. Coming after Beltane celebrations, we have the Hawthorn Moon period, which emphases fire, fertility, and masculine energy. This is considered a good time for making business connections and decisions, and conceiving a child. The hawthorn may be used in magic rituals to celebrate the power of the masculine element, so there seems to be a balance with both our feminine and masculine energies over the Willow and Hawthorn month.

Benefits of six-week sessions –  Further charities events

Charity session image March 2023Harmony In Nature has just concluded the last event in a series of six for a combined large group from three different charities, through The Forest Bathing Institute (TFBI). We were fortunate enough to have these sessions included in research using ‘before’ and ‘after’ self-assessed questionnaires, with a wonderful student, Katt, from UCL. We were joined on our first event by Gary and on our last event by Olga, who are the husband and wife team who set up TFBI. They are so busy getting the message out to decision makers that they rarely have the chance to relax in the forest these days.

As the weeks went on, comments showed some similarities. Several participants mentioned experiencing wider peripheral vision (showing we are relaxing); some felt they were starting from a better baseline each week, and the effects felt cumulative; others knew they were noticing so much more about nature and feeling more positive as they were going about their week. The three groups, although very different, seemed to blend well.

It was such a pleasure to be involved in the caring supportive atmosphere that we all created together with nature.

Jo's TFBI interview regarding Forest Bathing Guide training....

Joanna TFBI interview April 2023Last month, Joanna was interviewed about her guide training by Theodora at TFBI for their All Nature Connected Podcast series.

Joanna was asked to comment on her favourite aspects of the course as well as what inspired her to train as a guide and any enhancements the training have brought into her life.

You can watch it on You Tube or listen to it on Spotiify.

The interview is also available on Google play and Apple Play if you search under TFBI All Nature Connected podcast.

We have our public Forest Bathing events scheduled this month on Thursday 11th at Cannon Hill Common (London SW20) and Sunday 21st at Harry Edwards, Shere (Surrey). We are also covering sessions at Leith Hill for TFBI (The Forest Bathing Institute) on 21st & 22nd May. We also have some private sessions available in May as listed, but we can also arrange other dates. See below for details.

☕ We go out rain or shine, since, with the right clothing and footwear, usually plenty of layers, and a spare, we can happily stay outdoors for hours. Even longer if we take a hot drink and a snack to warm us up!

  • Harmony in Nature November Issue - Slowing Down & Hibernation

November Issue - Slowing Down & Hibernation

    Autumn view square

November in Britain, with the clocks having gone back, features darker, colder nights, but is peppered with the explosive lights, sounds and smells of bonfires and fireworks, as Guy Fawkes Night, and this year Diwali, the Hindu festival of light, are celebrated on 5th and 12th November respectively.

We are giving a special mention for our troubled times to Diwali, with its uplifting focus on gratitude, family and friends and spreading light. Diwali  falls on the new moon between mid-October and mid-November, and is a five-day celebration with a different daily focus, starting with home cleaning and preparation, then bringing in the light to every corner, especially with clay oil lamps. These represent the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, which are all welcome.  Days 3, 4 and 5 involve plenty of visiting family and friends, feasting, gift-giving, fireworks and grateful offerings to Lakshmi on Day 3, Diwali itself, and Krishna on day 4, which is the official Hindu new year. The last day is dedicated to celebrating the valued bonds between siblings, with yet more visiting and feasting.

In the UK, animals like hedgehogs are starting their hibernation period over winter. It seems that some hedgehogs are falling asleep in unsafe spots, including piles of sticks and leaves prepared for bonfires. If you come across a hedgehog which appears to be dead, it is best to assume it is in hibernation. Ideally, put it in a safe protected spot, under a bush or (non-bonfire-ready) log pile that won’t fall on it, cover it back up with plenty of dry leaves or straw, if possible, and leave it until it emerges naturally in warmer weather next year.

Sometimes we humans can feel like hibernating too, and in times past we would naturally have made changes to our daily lives to take account of the lower levels of light and warmth.. The magic touch of frost on the winter landscape can be utterly charming and provides a different kind of light.

This is another mild autumn for us, so there’s still plenty of greenery about, along with the traditional colours of purple, brown, red and golden yellow, which will mostly be shed this month. Seed heads from 'old man's beard' in the hedgerows look magical as they catch the low sunlight and the morning dew. Seasonal in the kitchen this month we have Jerusalem artichokes, leeks, carrots, beetroots, parsnips, Brussels sprouts, kale, potatoes and winter squash. It remains good for harvesting chestnuts (prolific this year), hazelnuts and walnuts, plus late-fruiting apples and pears, with a plethora of fungi, for those who know the edible from the ones best avoided.

Our November Forest Bathing event is in Shere on Sunday 12th November. This is also Remembrance Sunday, so we will start wih a 2-minute silence.

    Monthly Traditions and History

The month of November was named after 'novem' meaning 9th in Latin, as November was the 9th month when the year started in March. To the Anglo-Saxons, November was called Blotmoneth, meaning “blood month” as this was traditionally the month of slaughtering and preserving meat to last through the winter.  It was also a month of feasting, as all the meat cuts which couldn’t be preserved were cooked up, making it a bountiful month, and helping folks keep warm.

According to authorRobert Graves and 'neo pagans', our month of November is mainly covered by the Celtic Reed Moon or Negetal(28th October to 23rd November) after the Celts' 'ogham' tree alphabet. Depending on the source, you may come across this period referred to as Elm Moon, in more modern Pagan works.

Ivy leavesReed reminds us of the beautiful and haunting sounds which come from instruments made from the reed, and these soulful sounds may be thought of as appropriate in this time of remembering our ancestors, as celebrated between 31st October and 2nd November, in a variety of ways in many cultures around the world, referred to variously along the lines of  'All-Hallows Eve, the Day of the Dead, All Souls Eve/Day'. Reed month is also a good one for energy work, divination and meditative work for inspiration, as well as for getting in touch with our spirit guides.

Elder Moon imageThe thirteenth and last moon month of the Celtic calendar is the Elder Moon, taking us from November 24th to December 23rd, and covering the winter solstice. Elder Moon month is related to creativity and renewal and rejuvenation, as reflected in the qualities of elder itself, which can be damaged easily, but recovers quickly. Known as Ruish by the Celts (roo-esh), this month is also a time of beginnings and endings, of births and deaths. Elder is also said to protect against negative entities, and may be used in magic connected to nature spirits. We can use this time to reflect what we are willing to let naturally die away, to make space for birthing the new, whether relationships, habits, work or leisure time.

Joanna's Full Moon Meditation takes place this month 7.30-9.30pm (UK time) on Monday 27th, with the Beaver Moon peaking at 11:02. We also have the Leonid Meteor Shower peaking 17th/18th.

Article in The Telegraph, Monday 18th September

Telegraph article of Forest Bathing with Gary 18th September 2023Last month we featured a summary of journalist Sam Delaney experience of  a Forest Bathing event with Gary Evans, with whom we trained, in The Telegraph.

From stressed out urban cynic, via moving slowly, and awakening his senses(even hugging a tree, which he says feels fantastic), by the time he is doing some guided breathing and lying on the forest floor the whole combination leaves him in a state of 'mild serenity'.

  • Tuesday 21st March, International Day of Forests

IDF image 2Tuesday 21st March is International Day of Forests, sponsored by the United Nations. The 2023 theme for International Day of Forests is "Forests for Health."

Forests are home to more that 60,000 tree species; comprising about 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity.

In fact, 1.6 billion people are directly dependent on forests for their shelter, food, medicines, income and energy. Alarmingly, we are losing around 10 million hectares of global forest annually (the size of Iceland) and this is said to accounts for 12-20% of greenhouse gas emissions thought to contribute to our climate change.

Whilst some have retained a strong affinity with nature, many have become disconnected. Ancient civilisations venerated the natural world, gaining much wisdom from observing in nature. Contemporary research is now highlighting the physiological benefits of time spent in natural surroundings. Trees emit phytoncides, which we are now refining into essential oils into the atmosphere, which have been proven to encourage relaxation as well as other wellbeing benefits. By engaging with natural forest environments, we can re-connect with nature, renewing our relationship with our natural habitat and appreciating any wildlife within it.

As a qualified Forest Bathing guide, I am delighted to see Forests being recognised for their wellbeing benefits and valuable biodiversity and efforts being made to protect dwindling international woodlands.

Forest Bathing is the traditional translation of the Japanese term ‘Shinrin Yoku’, which refers to immersion under a canopy of trees. Practised for over 30 years to alleviate high levels of stress felt by Japanese executives in busy urban districts; Forest Bathing combines meditation and mindfulness with gentle exercise; all within an ambient forest environment.

Offering a unique chance to reconnect both with nature and with ourselves, there is growing evidence that Forest Bathing can:

    • Reduce stress
    • Regulate blood pressure
    • Improve metabolic and cardiovascular health
    • Improve anti-cancer protein production
    • Support weight loss
    • Increase concentration and memory
    • Lower blood-sugar levels
    • Lift depression
    • Alleviate pain thresholds
    • Improve energy levels

Katie and I (together we run Harmony in Nature) will be celebrating by running a Nature Connection session at Cannon Hill Common, London SW20

See you soon in Surrey Woodlands?

We are so lucky to have woodland making up around 25% of our landscepe here in Surrey. If you aren't local to us, make an effort to go and connect with your local woodlands and beautyspots and naise awareness for the need to appreciate our natural resources. It takes hundreds of years for woodland to build their ecosystems and create an effective communication network; it's a misnomer that we can make up for cutting down established woods with a few newly planted trees.

Within Surrey, via Harmony In Nature, we facilitate regular Forest Bathing Sessions (click limk for venues and dates) to help adults reconnect with nature and reap the therapeutic benefits. If you aren't already on our email list to receive monthly Harmony in Nature updates, and would like to be added, click on the mailing list link above.

If you run a local meet-up or social group and are looking for professsional speakers (virtual or in person), please contact me if you would like a presentation on Forest Bathing.

  • What's on this spring: Unity Consciousness, Lunar Cycle alignment course, forest bathing ...

Spring Equinox 20th 1Last weekend was the Equinox, so at last, Spring is in the air and we can feel optimistic about the summer.

Things have been very hectic for me having embraced a transition to Zoom virtual format shortly after lockdown a year ago.

Since last March, there have been continuous enrolments for my RSE (Reyad Sekh Em©) Egyptian Alchemy healing training courses. Especially the Introductory Level although 10 have gone onto become qualified RSE Practitioners and are working towards advanced practitioner training. I couldn't be happier on that front, after almost 23 years in the healing fraternity, the most amazing community of healers and trainee healers has emerged. I dreamt of this but to have it materialise is fantastic.  And the talent amongst them is incredible; if you are looking to develop latent (or extend existing) healing skills, do join us.  Here's two of the recently qualified super capable practitioners telling their stories on You Tube: Benjamin (a hairdresser, aged 21, unable to work during lockdown) and Agata (a practising NHS physiotherapist) tell their stories (less than 15 mins in total).

Most important is the desire to run an active team of lightworkers and make a difference in the world, especially considering the desperate global environment.  If you are familiar with the work of David Hawkins and Owen Waters, you will know that working on your own spiritual consciousness is one of the most productive steps we can make as individuals regarding improving global wellbeing. See my short YouTube presentation for more on this.

    Monthly Full Moon Meditation

We hold monthly Full Moon Virtual Guided Meditations, the next ones are Sunday 28th March, Monday 26th April & Wednesday 26th May. Other dates are listed on the Harmony Healing website until the end of the year.  These cost £22 via PayPal (£20 if paid via BACS bank transfer) and act as a great low investment introduction to my work.

New Moon New Vision: lunar cycle connection programme

Very soon, Monday 12th April - Tuesday 11th May, we have our coveted New Moon New Vision; lunar cycle alignment programme re-starting, cost is £155 (+ £7.50 admin fee if paid via PayPal). This was run earlier in the year featuring daily angelic affirmations, weekly meditations and several distant attunements to enhance your energetic connection to the sun, moon, earth, planets and stars plus the current Western and Chinese zodiacs. We simultaneously learn, though 10+ hours of virtual Zoom mentoring, to work with the energies of the moon cycle and each person creates a Vision Board for 2021 & beyond. Multiple participants found it a 'life changing for the better'. More at Harmony Healing Website and a YouTube informational video (about 15 mins) with feedback from three of the group members and here's what another had to say as the last course reached the final week:

"As we're almost at the end of the course, but still the beginning of a journey, I thought I'd share a few of the things that have changed for me during this moon cycle.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I have more space within... I can literally feel it - possibly as a result of the Soul Star and Earth Star Chakras attunement, and also because of the releasing that has been happening over the last 2 weeks.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I have recovered a routine which brings about a more productive day.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My brain has tuned into the fact that I need to lose weight... I've let go of snacking, I'm having beautiful detox baths and have done the oil pulling. I am doing daily dance exercises.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am meditating more and got back on track with daily self-Reiki.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    I'm seeing the bigger picture.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    I am generally more focused.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Such positive stuff for everyday living! ♥"⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Forest Bathing+ Sessions in leafy Surrey

Earlier this week, Monday 21st March was International Day of Forests and I'm delighted to announce that we will be able to offer Forest Bathing+ sessions in Surrey again, starting on 17th April at Harry Edwards Healing Sanctuary (Shere) and 22nd April at Newlands Corner (near Guildford).See event dates listed up to July on the Harmony Website, please do join us for one or more of these enjoyable and therapeutic experiences.

I will also offer another series of RSE (Reyad Sekh Em©) Egyptian Alchemy healing training courses over the summer. Our current course finished yesterday (25th March), so I will wait and see whether they want to progress immediately onto RSE 2 Practitioner which will mean a delay before the next introductory series.

So that's a summary of what we are offering for the next 3-4 months, if you aren't already and feel inspired to join our active Lightworker Community, think about joining one of the activities above or sign up for the Celestial Forecast Blog email updates.  Subscribers receive reminders of the New Moon, Full Moon, Meteor showers, dates of numerological significance (three '555' dates coming up in May, one of which is included in the New Moon New Vision Course), Pagan, Egyptian, Roman and other religious festivals as well as international celebrations.

Whatever you do, have a happy spring & summer.

If you would like to experience one of our spiritual offerings (meditation, reading, 1:1 healing, a Forest Bathing+ session or a full mentoring course), why not ask for a Harmony Healing gift voucherfor a birthday or other celebratory occasion?

A number of virtual courses are now ready, details on Harmony Healing Virtual Events. Currently, due to Coronavirus, most events will be virtual hence distant readings and healings are proving popular. We don't recommend giving a reading or healing to another person, without first checking whether it would be welcomed.

Joanna offers distant intuitive readings (past life and/or aura readings) and distant 1-2-1 healings and virtual healing circles. We also have meditations available.
