  • Ancient Egyptian Ritual of the Neteru of the Two Lands, 22nd September 2018

Map of Lower Egypt from WikipediaSaturday 22nd September is the Ancient Egyptian Ritual of the Neteru of the Two Lands

The Two Lands, comprising of Upper & Lower Egypt, were presided over by the more successful Pharoahs. To the north was Lower Egypt (see map from Wikipedia) where the Nile fans into the Nile Delta.

To the south was Upper Egypt, stretching to Aswan. The terms Upper and Lower Egypt are derived from the unusual geography of the Nile, which unlike most rivers, flows from south to north. Its origins are in the highlands of East Africa and it ends with the Nile Delta which drains into the Mediterannean Sea.

Double Crown of Egypt image from WikipediaIn Spiritual lore, Upper and Lower Egypt could be said to represent the higher and lower self of the human body, and as such would need to be integrated on an annual basis with the help of the Neteru (Deities or Angelic Beings).

The unification of Upper and Lower Egypt occurred in about 3000 BC, but the pschent - or double crown, see  Wikipedia image on the right - worn by the Pharoahs represented the combined regalia of both areas; the hedjet or White Crown for Upper Egypt and the deshret or Red Crown for Lower Egypt, each half representing sovereignty of one of the kingdoms.

Established Ancient Egyptian tradition generally credits Menes (also known as Narmer), as the king who united Upper and Lower Egypt.

On the Narmer Palette the king is depicted wearing the Red Crown in one scene and the White crown in another, and thereby showing his rule over both Lands.

22nd September is also an alternative date for the Ancient Egyptian Ceremony of Transformation through Anpu (Anubis), though most sources list it as 4th September.  Joanna was interviewed by Linda Lang from ThoughtChange for their Mystical Side of Life Podcast series - see it on YouTube or for audio go to Anchor.

anubis with sampleAn MP3 Meditation to overcome negative behaviour patterns is available from the Harmony Shop. The Egyptians believed that when a deceased soul entered the Halls of Amenti they would undergo a ceremony involving the metaphorical weighing of the heart (of the deceased) against Maat's feather, whereby the weight of the heart represents the degree to which the deceased lived in truth (that is how much he/she has sinned, the more he/she had sinned the heavier the heart). The meditation guides you through a journey with Anpu to see how you would fare if your heart was weighed against Maat's feather at this point in your life. This meditation was devised for 4th September, which being a Festival of Anpu would add emphasis, but can be used anytime.

Anpu is the illegitimate child of Nebt-Het (Nephthys), born of her clandestine union with Asar (Osiris) but raised as the son of Set. Cast out when his true lineage was discovered, he became associated with dark and lonely places, a wanderer through the shadow-realm between life and death, Anpu therefore bearing witness to the darker side of mortality. He seeks out those lost souls who find themselves without guidance after their demise. He guards the Entrance to the Underworld, presided over by his true father Asar.  Hence, all who die will find themselves in the presence of this mysterious Jackel-headed God, who escorts them away from this world and to the gates of the next.

A laminated poster of Anpu (Anubis) by Jacqui Taliesin El Masri of Alkhemi.co.uk - shown on the right - is also available from the Harmony Shop along with other Egyptian Deity posters by Jacqui.

  • Friday 1st November, Samonios, All Saints Day & World Vegan Day

Pagan image of SamoniosFriday 1st November starts the first month of the Celtic Year, called Samonios - 'Seed Fall'; mirroring the death/rebirth cycle of Asar (Osiris).

It is thought that two Roman festivals became incorporated with Samhain - 'Feralia', when the Romans commemorated the passing of the dead, and 'Pomona', when the Roman goddess of fruit and trees was honoured. The Halloween tradition of bobbing for apples is thought to derive from the ancient links with the Roman fruit goddess, Pomona, and a Druidical rite associated with water.

This is also All Saints Day in the Christian calendar.

The Samonios image above and text below, by Helen Benigni, are kindly taken with permission from the angelfire.com website.

The month of SAMONIOS is a month of miraculous births beginning with the appearance of the twin stars of Castor and Pollux on the Eastern Horizon. These miraculously born twins, from an egg containing both mortal and immortal potential, bridge the gap between this world and the Otherworld with their appearance on the first quarter moon heralding the Holy Nights of Winter Solstice. Further into the month shortly after the third quarter of the moon, a trio of stars including Rigel, Betelguese and Castor march across the sky to illiminate this Oenach of light and birth.

Literally translated as "seed fall," SAMONIOS is the month when the light of the Dagda, the seed of his loins, penetrates the womb of the earth and creates life. This light is symbolized by the sunrise of the Winter Solstice penetrating the inner chambers of the sacred mounds of the Neolithic peoples. At Newgrange, the sacred mound of the Bru na Boinne, the light of the Winter Solstice shines through a roof-box of white quartz for seventeen minutes to dramatically illuminate the cruciform chamber of the passage tomb. Here, the stone-carved geometric motifs common to trance states of shamanic ecstasy amplify the light in order that the observer may experience the light of life bestowed by the solar deity.

This solar alignment initiates the light half of the year. Mistletoe is hung as a symbol of the immortal love that the good father, Dagda brought to Boand, the goddess of the Bru na Boinne. Oengus, the son of their union and the Lord of the Sid mound, guards the entrance to the Otherworld and immortal life.

Friday 1st November is also World Vegan Day.  In 1994, the event was established by Louise Wallis, then Chair of The Vegan Society, UK, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of coining the terms "vegan" and "veganism" and the founding of the organisation. November is nominated as World Vegan Month.

  • Friday 22nd May, New Moon @ 18.39

Friday 22nd May @ 18.39 UK time (GMT/UT+1) is New Moon.

The New Moon Abundance Ritual should be carried out within 24 hours after the New Moon. It needs to be after the New Moon because the moon should be waxing (getting bigger again) to carry the manifestation energy.

There are video instructions on my Facebook Page or You Tube Page.

New Moon is a good time to work on your Vision Board (downloadable instructions on this page) for the rest of 2020. Hopefully a move towards a world where we can move freely again and are enjoying a global economic recovery.

Aligning ourselves with the moon cycle is very therapeutic, hence being aware of the New moon (good for starting new projects) and Full Moon (a good time for bringing projects to a conclusion) is excellent for bringing harmony and wellbeing into our lives.

Harmony Healing activities are aimed at bringing harmony and wellbeing into your life. If you are looking for spiritually enlightening activities during lockdown, Joanna offers distant intuitive readings (past life and/or aura readings) and distant 1-2-1 healings and virtual healing circles. We also have meditations available.

A number of virtual courses are now ready and starting this month, details on Harmony Healing Virtual Events. Currently, due to Coronavirus, most events will be virtual hence distant readings and healings are proving popular. We don't recommend giving a reading or healing to another person, without first checking whether it would be welcomed.

  • Friday 4th March, Kissing Friday

Kissing Friday by DarkWorkX from PixabayFriday 4th March is Kissing Friday. The days leading up to and into Lent were Collop Monday, Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, Fritter Thursday and Kissing Friday (source: Lia Leendertz's2020 Almanac).

According to historic.co.uk, this bizarre custom was especially popular in the Victorian and Edwardian period and only died out in the mid-20th century. Although unthinkable these days, a schoolboy could kiss a girl on this day without fear of repercussions.

Of course, first of all the girl had to be caught and in some instances this involved tying ropes across the street and passing girls would have to pay a kiss for safe passage across the rope. Others would simply chase the girls until they caught them. Indeed, Kissing Fridaywas also the one day every year when girls could leave school early, to avoid being chased home by the boys.

In the Leicershire village of Sileby, this day was called Nippy Hug Day. Here, if the girl actively resisted a kiss, the boy could 'louse' (pinch) her bottom, a disturbing reference to the action of pinching off lice.

Similarly, in areas of Cumbria, the day was known as Nippy Lug Day, where the custom involved pinching the ears.

The date of Lent - which takes place in either February or March but always seven weeks before Easter - varies from year to year according to the lunar calendar which determines when Easter falls. The fact that Lent, and indeed Easter, are determined by the lunar calendar tends to suggest that they were superimposed over Pagan celebrations.

The Council of Nicaea, in 325 AD, approved a 40-day fast duration to celebrate Lent. This was the time period during which Constantine was striving for a harmonious union between the Christians and Pagans within the Roman Empire.

The start date of Lent was still under debate even after the Council of Nicaea. Pope Gregory, in 601, moved the commencement of Lent to Ash Wednesday (from the fourth Sunday of the year); this being 46 days before Easter. This allowed for 40 days of fasting with the six Sundays counting as feast days, making a total of 46 days for Lent. The tradition of using ashes to create the shape of a cross on parishioners foreheads was also instigated by Pope Gregory.

See bibleinfo.complant-lorecom websites for references. The latter website flags up as insecure.

By partaking in old traditions such as Kissing Fridaycommunities retain a sense of harmony and connection, thereby bringing balance and wellbeing into their lives.

Aligning ourselves with other members of the community through mutual celebration is very therapeutic and is excellent for bringing harmony and wellbeing into our lives.

Harmony Healing utilises the philosophies of the Ancient Egyptians, in the form of Reyad Sekh Em (RSE) Egyptian Alchemy Healing, to bring balance and harmony. A new next interactive training course series of Reyad Sekh Em (RSE) Level 1 started with Khemitology on Thursday 17th February and Violet Flame of Amention Wednesday 23rd February (missed sessions can be caught up as they are recorded, so late registrations are accepted), followed by Mindful Chakras starting 10th March and Essene Angelology starting 16th March.

Through Harmony Healing, Joanna offers a wider spectrum of events designed to nurture your welbeing. If you are looking for regular spiritually enlightening activities which help to connect you with the lunar cycle, we have our monthly Full Moon Guided Healing Meditations. The next one is Friday 18th March at 7.30-9.30pm (UK time = GMT). Participants all receive a deeply healing experience. Cost to participate is £20 by online BACS payment (£1 admin fee added for PayPal) or half price to RSE graduates. There are multi-buy packages for regular attendees. Book at the Harmony Shop.

  • Halloween, 31st October 2017

Shutterstock Pagan Wheel InageTuesday 31st October  traditionally marks the end of the harvest and the beginning of the Celtic and Pagan New Year. Samhain is Irish-Gaelic for 'the Summer's end', and is pronounced 'sow-in'. Samhain represents the death of the summer sun god, Lugh. This festival celebrates Nature's cycle of death and renewal.  This is traditionally known as Halloween.

Samhain is one of the four Gaelic seasonal festivals; along with Lughnasadh, Imbolc and Beltane.

In the Northern Hemisphere, Samhain heralds the beginning of Winter when the world starts to darken and the days are getting shorter; the 'dark half' of the year and the demise of the sun's uplifting influence.  The crone, personified as Cailleach - the Queen of the Winter - was reborn on every All Hallows Eve, returning to bring the Winter and protect animals through the coldest months. She turned to stone on Beltane Eve, Beltane being 1st May.

  • Imbolc 2018

shutterstock 114601966 Pagan wheelThursday 1st February & Friday 2nd February is the Pagan Imbolc Ceremony, which is one of the four Great Celtic Festivals (between the Soltices and equinoxes), and which is a Wiccan, Gaelic and Druid Festival of Fertility and Growing Light. Imbolc (pronounced EE-molk) is the old Celtic word, the celebration is also known as Candlemas.

It is sacred to the Goddess Brigit or Bridie, the power of the new moon, the Spring of the year, the flowing sea, corn dollies and the Great Moon Mother - Patroness of Poetry Making and Healing. Brigid is a triple Goddess, so she can be honoured in all her aspects, she is associated with fire, fertility, midwifery and the young.

The Imbolc Festival marks the passing of Winter and the first signs of Spring, with the emergence of new leaves and early flowers such as the snowdrop and crocus, as well as being the transition point of the threefold Goddess energies from those of the Crone to the Maiden.

Imbolc is a Fire Festival and it is traditional, at sunset, to briefly light every light in the house. Or light candles in each toom to celebrate the return of the sun. If it's been snowing, take time to enjoy walking in the snow, draw an image of the sun into the snow and relect on the sun's warmth.

Traditional foods for Imbolc include anything dairy, including sour cream, as the Festival celebrated the calving season. Spicy and rich foods, such as curry or anything made with peppers, leeks, onion, chives and/or garlic are appropriate to celebrate the sun, together with mulled wine and anything containing raisins which also represent the sun.

It's also a good time to clear clutter and look at what you want to achieve this year and ask Brigit's help in making it happen.

This morning, 9.30 - 11.30, four of us undertook a fire (invoking the Essene Angel Uriel) and water (invoking the Essene Angel Phuel) ceremony to bless some water from the Thames - and some local rain water. We had collected together a selection of crystals representing the elements fire and water, and made a little altar area using a coloured scarf. so We also performed a Druid Ceremony with the White Lady (another name for Bride/Brigid/Bridie) to bless the water. And at 4pm, I returned my river water to the Thames.

  • Lunasa Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse

Gabriel Harmony Angel CardMonday 7th August is Pagan Lunasa Full Moon at 19.11 and a penumbral lunar eclipse.

Between this date and the next New Moon is considered as a good time energetically for detoxing the body.

Click here for Angela McGerr's Full Moon Angelic Meditation with Gabriel.

Image of Gabriel by Richard Rockwood from Angela McGerr's Harmony Angel Cards.

We also have an umbral eclipse (ahead of the total eclipse 21st August visible across much of America), as the moon sweeps across the earth's shadow from west to east. More details from the EarthSky.org website, which includes a link to watch the eclipse live via a telescope in Rome, Italy.

Sadly, we won't see anything much here in the UK due to the timing of the eclipse taking place before the moon will have risen in the sky here.  This means we will only see a penumbral eclipse, where the shadowed part is a little more faint than the rest of the moon.  Our penumbral eclipse will take place between 16.50 and 21.50, peaking at 20.35 when, if there are few enough clouds to see anything, there will still be sun in the sky!  See timeanddate.com for full details of the UK experience...

Whether the eclipse is visible or not, energetically we are all affected. Astrologically (summarised with thanks from astrostyle.com), lunar eclipses illuminate our shadow self,as defined by Carl Jung.  This can be a challenging experience, as many of us are not keen (or even open) to acknowledging and addressing our faults.  However, facing our suppressed emotions (such as anger, jealousy, greed) and confronting our fears provides a great opportunity to move forward in life; past what may have seemed to be insurmountable obstacles.  Accepting that we have faults and integrating this knowledge internally is very beneficial for our personal spiritual development.

The Full Moon has a gravitation effect on the Earth, hence leading to a tidal impact on our oceans.  Whilst it is has not been scientifically proven, it is logical to assume that this also has an impact on us as we are largely comprised of water (60-80% supposedly).

At the time of the Full Moon the Sun and Moon are in opposition.  The solar (sun) energy influences our masculine/yang archetypal attributes (our outer world) such as strength, courage, identity, self-esteem, expression, conscious beliefs and determination together with our logical outlook.  Whereas the lunar energy (moon) influences our feminine/yin archetypal attributes (our inner world), such as our unconscious beliefs, hidden emotions, nurturing feelings, creativity and intuition. The Full Moon is a powerful and appropriate time to show gratitude for life and the riches and bounty bestowed upon us by Mother Earth (Gaia).

Weather permitting, outdoor moon bathing can be very therapeutic, simply breathe the silver energy in and out and, if the mood takes you, undertake an outdoor meditation.  It’s a wonderful time to put crystals (don’t put out any soluble crystals if it might rain) outside to be recharged by the lunar energy.

The Angel Gabriel is the Guardian of the Moon in Essene Angelology, and thus this is a powerful time to undertake Angela McGerr’s Full Moon Meditation with Gabriel.

Additional aspects brought in due to the astrology of this particular Full Moon, which is 15.25© Aquarius – 15.25© Leo (courtesy of universallifeforms.com and Angela McGerr’s Harmony Angel Cards for the angelic guardians).

Aquarius (air) brings humanitarianism, individualism, rebellion, pioneering determinism, independence.
The Angelic Guardian of Aquarius is Cambriel overseeing ambition, principles and ideals.

Leo (fire) brings leadership, affection, generosity, extraversion, stubbornness, authority, courage, compassion.
The Angelic Guardian of Leo is Verchiel overseeing courage, leadership and loyalty.

Further energetic aspects are brought in by the lunar eclipse and the numerology of year 2017 which is a 10 and/or 1 and which also marked a unique planetary alignment staring on 7th  January 2017, a date which added up to 9 (7+1+2+0+1+7 = 9). Nine is the vibration of ascension. This date saw the start of a planetary alignment of all nine planets of our solar system (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) plus our sun = 10.  We understand this date was foreseen hundreds of years ago as being very auspicious, so this year so far has been very eventful for many sensitive individuals.  For many it has led to numerous developments, which on the whole have been very positive,

The word eclipse is derived from the Greek ekleipsis, meaning abandon or vanish.  This is very relevant for the emotions experienced during an eclipse; as it brings the desire to let go of the superfluous parts of ourselves which are limiting our greater potential. Consider any emotional issues which came up around the time of the most recent eclipse back in February, this is the ideal opportunity to ‘let go’ of these issues. This August, the highlighted issues are relationships; whether with friends, family, lovers, community, or via political and societal systems, or specifically with yourself. Shine the illumination on all your relationships and through the energy exchange try to inject love and kindness, even in the face of pain, fear hurt and separation.  Try and isolate the parts of your body reflecting these emotions that no longer serve you and try to hold a vision of perfection and positive outcome in your heart. We need as many people as possible to be holding positive thoughts as this time.

The influence of Aquarius brings the pioneering spirit of innovation and the humanitarian love which brings expansive opportunities. It is an opportunity to plough your own furrow and not simply to follow the crowds.  Eclipses provide the perfect energy for letting go for your Highest Good, the influence of Leo helps to make this less uncomfortable.

Some other planetary influences include Jupiter square Pluto, empowering us to be seen, marks in weak conjunction with the sun, leads to an energy influx leading some sensitives to be having difficulty with sleeping. To combat this, try to combat any irritability and instil a degree of patience. Sirius opposing Pluto (also in weak conjunction with Venus) encourages the surrender of aggression and facilitates a kind and loving choice instead; emerging brighter and empowered and spiritually on-purpose.  Thanks again to universallifeforms.com for much of the material enabling me to write this post.

On Tuesday 8th August we have the annual 8:8 Lions Gate, which brings its own influx of energy.  A Blog about this will be posted subsequently, in the meantime, you can find out more from my Celestial Forecast for August.

Monday 7th & Tuesday 8th August is Joanna's Introduction to Reyad Sekh Em course. Cost is £200.

Reyad Sekh Em® (RSE) is an ultra high vibrational Egyptian Alchemy healing system which harnesses the angelic elemental healing rays of earth, air, fire, water and spirit with etheric crystalline energies plus sound vibration and sacred breathing.

Imbolc is a Fire Festival and it is traditional, at sunset, to briefly light every light in the house. Or light candles in each toom to celebrate the return of the sun. If it's been snowing, take time to enjoy walking in the snow, draw an image of the sun into the snow and reflect on the sun's warmth.

Spicy and rich foods, such as curry or anything made with peppers, leeks, onion, chives and/or garlic are appropriate to celebrate the sun, together with mulled wine and anything containing raisins which also represent the sun.

So fire and purification were an important part of the Imbolc festival with candles being lit to signify the increasing power of the Sun and the return of warmth over the forthcoming months and Holy wells were visited at Imbolc, and at the other Celtic festivals of Beltane and Lughnasa. All this focus on nurturing warmth and purification plus water to release emotions brings harmony and wellbeing into your life.

t's also a good time to clear clutter and look at what you want to achieve this year and ask Brigid's help in making it happen.

Here's a little water blessing you can do with Brigid, given to me by the wonderful esoteric author Christopher Street in 2012. I highly recommend his book London Leylines; Pathways of Enlightenment

Ideally in a glass container (I use a clean jam jar), collect some water from your local river or pond, if safe to do so, or else rain water or even tap water. Hold it in your hands and radiate love from your heart, via your hands, into the water and say the following Imbolc poem to Brigid: -

A budding blossom, fair I grow

The light of youth is on my brow

    Purity of crystal spring,

and gift of morning flower I bring

From death and darkness, frost and cold

a tale of birth and life unfolds

Healing gifts spring from her bag

She who was the Winter Hag

Fruit of the Earth, from Goddess fair

No man-made gift could be compared

to that which flows from nature’s love

and the blessings of the dove

Then, if you feel inspired, you can utter this apology on behalf of mankind, similar to one that was used at an international water healing ceremony I attended on 3rd August 2008:

    Water, We Are Sorry.

    Water, We Love You.

    Water, We Thank You.

    Water, We Respect You.

Send the intention that the water in the glass is completely filled with the vibrations of Apology, Love, Gratitude and Respect. As you hold both of your hands against the glass, and visualise that the vibrations of your sincere apology emitting from your heart will be projected into the water and imagine that each water molecule in the glass is healed and sparkling with life like millions of little suns.

Then, when you feel it's appropriate, put the water back where it came from.  If it was rain or tap water you can pour it into the earth so that the blessed water filters down into the water table beneath the surface or you can return your blessed water to a local waterway or pond/lake.

Celebration of local customs, such as those at Imbolc, with other members of the Pagan Community was found to be therapeutic; bringing harmony and wellbeing into their lives.

Harmony Healing activities are aimed at bringing harmony and wellbeing into your life. If you are looking for spiritually enlightening activities during lockdown, which help to connect you with the lunar cycle, we have the next virtual healing circle on Friday 26th February is at 7.30-9.30pm (UK time = GMT), and costs £10 (+ £1 Paypal fee). During this session, we connect with other like-minded people and together we work through a mindful chakra balancing process using colours and etheric crystals, with the aim that all participants will experience a degree of unity consciousness. This activity serves as a good taster of my work in general and the virtual format of our Zoom based programme.

If you would like to experience one of our spiritual offerings (meditation, reading, 1:1 healing, a Forest Bathing+ session or a full mentoring course), why not ask for a Harmony Healing gift voucherfor a birthday or other celebratory occasion?

A number of virtual courses are now ready, details on Harmony Healing Virtual Events. Currently, due to Coronavirus, most events will be virtual hence distant readings and healings are proving popular. We don't recommend giving a reading or healing to another person, without first checking whether it would be welcomed.

01 Nov samoniasMonday 1st November starts the first month of the Celtic Year, called Samonios - 'Seed Fall'; mirroring the death/rebirth cycle of Asar (Osiris). We are still in the enegy of Samhain/Halloween today and we do have a 1 hr 40 mins recording available of our session yesterday detailing the Celtic Festival of Samhain plus a guided meditation with Keridwen to release issues which may be holding you back. The recording is £20 or £10 for our usual concessions using the online voucher. See Harmony Shop to order or email  for a payment link.

The Samonios text below, by Helen Benigni, were kindly taken with permission some years ago from the angelfire.com website.

Further into the month, a trio of stars including Rigel, Betelguese and Castor march across the sky to illiminate this Oenach of light and birth.

01 Nov World Vegan dayMonday 1st November is also World Vegan Day.  In 1994, the event was established by Louise Wallis, then Chair of The Vegan Society, UK, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of coining the terms "vegan" and "veganism" and the founding of the organisation. November is nominated as World Vegan Month.

Traditional festivals like this helped communities to feel connected, bringing balance and harmony into people's lives.

  • Monday 20th July, New Moon @ 18.33

Monday 20th July @ 18.33 UK time (GMT/UT+1) is the New Moon. See below for the New Moon abundance ritual.

Harmony Healing utilises the philosophies of the Ancient Egyptians to bring balance and harmony. A number of virtual courses are now ready and a selection are starting again this month, including Reyad Sekh Em (RSE) Egyptian Alchemy Healing Level 1 (which is now fully available as interactive training modules) details on Harmony Healing Virtual Events. Currently, due to Coronavirus, most events will be virtual hence distant readings and healings are proving popular. We don't recommend giving a reading or healing to another person, without first checking whether it would be welcomed.

If you are looking for spiritually enlightening activities during lockdown, Joanna offers distant intuitive readings (past life and/or aura readings) and distant 1-2-1 healings and virtual healing circles. We also havemeditations available.

  • Monday 23rd September, Equinox

earth lighting equinox enMonday 23rd September at 08.50 is the Pagan Celebration of the Autumn Equinox, marking the time of harvest festival and fulfilment of summer; since, in the Northern Hemisphere, from now on there will be more dark than light for the rest of the year. In the Southern Hemisphere it's the Spring Equinox, heralding the longer days leading to the Summer Solstice.

An equinox is an astronomical event when the plane of Earth's equator passes the center of the Sun. Equinoxes occur twice a year, around 21st March and 22nd/23rd September.

The image on the right, by Przemyslaw Blueshade Idzkiewicz (from Wikipedia), shows the illumination of Earth by Sun on the day of equinox (vernal and autumnal). It is a view to eastern-hemisphere  showing  noon  in  Central European time zone (ignoring DST) on the day of equinox.

At this point in the year, the night and day lengths are exactly equal, so it's a time of balance and a good time for introspection, look for what is good and worthwhile to become seeds for next year.

Here in the UK, followers of the Druids, Pagans, Celtic and Gaelic traditions, as well as Wicca religion, gather at megalithic stone circles such as Stonehenge (Near Salisbury, Wiltshire) and Castlerigg (Keswick, Cumbria), to celebrate and watch the equinox sunrise.

  • Monday 28th February, Collop, Peasen or Shrove Monday

Collop Monday 15thMonday 28th February is Collop Monday, also known as Shrove Monday. It's the day before Shove Tuesdayand isn't widely observed, but it is a similar frugal tradition to the consumption of eggs in the form of pancakes to use them up before the start of the fasting period of Lent. As this snippet from the Nottingham Evening Post from 1931 explains, Collops are chunks of cured meat (such as bacon) or leftover roasted meat, so this involves using up any remaining meat in the household before Lent.

In Cornwall, it's known as Peasen Monday because pea soup was the traditional dish of the day.

The verb 'shrive' means to gain absolution for one's sins through confession and/or penance. Hence Shrove Monday or Tuesday is derived from the tradition that Christians were 'shriven' before Lent. The days leading up to and into Lent were Collop Monday, Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, Fritter Thursday and Kissing Friday (source: Lia Leendertz's2020 Almanac).

The date of Lent - which takes place in either February or March but always seven weeks before Easter - varies from year to year according to the lunar calendar which determines when Easter falls. The fact that Lent, and indeed Easter, are determined by the lunar calmedar tends to suggest that they were superimposed over Pagan celebrations.

The Council of Nicaea, in 325 AD, approved a 40-day fast duration to celebrate Lent.  This was the time period during which Constantine was striving for a harmonous union between the Christians and Pagans within the Roman Empire.

By partaking in Collop Monday, confessing sins and living a modest life throughout the period of Lent, Christian's believed that it would enhance their harmony and wellbeing.

  • Monday 6th June, first of three dates with 666 Numerology

    555 numerology

Monday 6th June is a primary 666 in numerology. 2022 is a '6' year in numerology (2+0+2+2 = 6), June is the 6th month and today is the 6th day of the month, so this is a primary 666 as each component of the month adds up to 6. Wednesday 15th and Friday 24th June (the latter also being Midsummers Day) will carry secondary 666 energy as the components of these dates also add up to 6.

    What is Numerology?
Numerology is the study of the symbolism of numbers.

Numerology is the study of the symbolism of numbers and the science attributing significance and meaning to seemingly random numbers happening globally or noticed in our environment. Double or triple digit numbers are added together and reduced into a single digit (as above with the digits of the year).

The Numerology of the Number 6 and 666

In numerology, the number 6 can be said to represent the sacred vibration of light focusing on love, marriage, home, family, nurturing, compassion, healing, service and success. Number 6 also symbolises beauty and high ideals.

But by far the most vital representation of the number 6 is healing and integration, particularly regarding personal cellular vibration.

It’s bizarre that 666 has been associated with the number of the devil, since it is a very positive number in numerology. Mystics believe it is precisely because of its empowering nature that it has been concealed from common access.

The 6-pointed star represents the Macrocosm - Divinity within all. The opposite of the association many people have of 666 with the devil and negativity.

Double numbers (i.e. 11, 22, 33 etc.) and triple numbers (111, 222, 333 etc.) are known as repdigits and intensifies the meaning.

666 is also known as the number of the Sun - Carbon (CO2) which is the chemical basis of all physical life. It has 6 protons, 6 neutrons and 6 electrons. The shape of carbon molecules points to the hexagram, which is the symbol of unity.

According to the bible, the world was created in 6 days

“Six is a number perfect in itself, not because God created all things in six days; rather, the convert is true God created all things in six days because the number is perfect.” Saint Augustine (The City of God)

Edwin Courtenay on the numerology of 6

6 is the number of the Mother and 666 (666 added up = 18 = 9) is the number of the Wisewoman or Crone - the fact that there are three 6s (3 being the number of the Maiden) revealing the number to be sacred to the Divine and Holy Mother - the triplicity that is Sophia, Shekinah and Seige - Wisdom, Love and Silence!

According to Edwin, some would assert that number 666, a powerful number representing the Great Goddess, is traditionally associated with the Devil or the Anti-Christ and is veiled by Christianity in darkness and doom, in order to turn us away from its true power as liberator and empowerer of humanity!

666 is mathematically described as a triangular number (the number reached if we add each of the first 36 numbers together).

The Ancient Egyptians - The Number Six represents Tehuti (Djeuti, Thoth), the God of Wisdom

666 numerology TehutiIn Egyptian art, Tetuti (Thoth) is depicted as an ibis-headed god or a baboon. According to tradition,Tehuti invented writing and numbers, hence we was the scribe of the gods and the patron god of scribes.

Subsequently, scribes taught by Tehuti created the letters of the Roman alphabet and the Arabic number set. Pagan religious icons were used to create the symbols that are the letters and numbers we know and use today.

The number 6 is a Pagan religious icon, representing the head of an Ibis. Pagan religious icons can be used to record and communicate our thoughts See resurrectisis.org

Herodotus wrote, around the 5th Century BC: Of all the nations of the world, the Khemitians are the happiest, healthiest and most religious.

This was attributed to their holistic view of man as a function of the Cosmos; they saw it as essential to be in tune with metaphysical realities in their daily lives. The complex vibrations of the body were a reflection of the rhythms, harmonies and pulsations of the universe.  When out of tune, the body would display disease.  To heal a person, it was necessary to use magic to summon the healing harmonic phenomena.

The Khemitians believed that man was created in the image of God and embodied all living creatures. All aspects of nature, such as colours, crystals, animals, plants etc. had counterparts within man.  Man’s body was his temple; and the rite of self-perfection was his soul purpose and ultimate destiny.

They also understood that if man was a microcosm of the universe (represented by 5 – the numerology of 2021), then all aspects of man would manifest on a magnified scale within the universe; in other words, the universe was a macrocosm of man.  The Macrocosm is represented by the number 6 – the numerology of 2022.  Hence last year and this year work together to escalate our spiritual growth.

The Emerald Tablets, attributed to Tehuti (also called Djeuti, Thoth, Hermes and Mercury at various historical junctures, with the Greek version Hermes Trismegistus giving us the term Hermetic Philosophies) details how everything we see is a representation of what we don't see - As Above, So Below - with man being a 'Microcosm' or miniature replica of the 'Macrocosm' being the All.

Our bodies contain our own set of energetic lines and points and although only remnants of what they once were, these lines and points continue to serve as our interface with the universe. This interface is a channel that facilitates our transfer of information and energy between macrocosm and microcosm, the universe and humankind. At one point in time, we became disconnected from these lines and diluted our inherent connection to the universe, distancing us from our previously rapid and expansive rate of evolution.

Thus we are intimately connected with everything. Our individual actions cause reactions in the macrocosm and activities in the greater universe/stars manifest within us.  Physical functions of body parts were seen as manifestations of cosmic functions and particular attributes with specified planets.

There was a strong astrological element too, with medicines being administered at specified times to coincide with astrological influences.  Operations were timed to take advantage of beneficial cosmic rhythms using colours, metals and numbers as manipulative tools.  Hekau (mantras) would be invoked, with music and sound being used to create appropriate vibrational enhancements.  Incantations and chanting created controlled influences on the affected organs. The correct pronunciation of Hekau or Neteru (the plural of Neter) could oust incompatible energies which were causing discomfort and recalibrate the cellular vibration to a more harmonious setting.

The Ancient Greeks - the Number Six is a perfect number

The Pythagoreans acknowledged number 6 to be the first perfect number. In mathematics a perfect number is when all the numbers divisors (excluding the number itself) are added, the sum equals the number itself. 1+2+3=6

In addition when including the number itself and dividing by two the result is the number itself. (1+2+3+6)/2 = 6

Perfect numbers are rare. The Ancient Greeks identified four perfect numbers: 6 – 28 – 496 – 8,128. Throughout history perfect numbers have fascinated mathematicians and, over time, more perfect numbers have been discovered. See mysticalnumbers.com

    Repeated numbers in Numerology
Double numbers (i.e. 11, 22, 33 etc.) and triple numbers (111, 222, 333 etc.) are called repdigits and this intensifies the meaning.  With 666, we have an additional factor that 666 is a Harshad number (divisible by the sum of its digits).

Harshad is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘Joy-giver’.

    Angelic Numerology
My sister, Angela McGerr, refers to Angel Numerology.

Last year was 5 numerology. In Angela's system, she describes 5 as the number of raising of spiritual consciousness, linked to the five-point star of Microcosm. 55 means you are reaching the next, higher level, while 555 mean you have attained a certain level of Mastery in a healing discipline or Angelic Wisdom, or another esoteric subject, greatly furthering your own Soul Quest.

This year we have 6 numerology, which is the macrocosm. Hence, the numerology of 666, gives us both the bigger picture (6) whereas last year was the smaller detail (5).

5 brings expansion through spiritual growth and 6 brings healing and consolidation of that personal expansion, hence life can be said to be dance of 5 & 6 as this cycle repeats ongoingly.

    Summary
Last year we had 555 numerology on 5th May 2021, with 5 being the number of change, motion, freedom and exploration. 5 is also said to represent the Microcosm (the individual) and 6 is said to represent the Macrocosm (the collective). 6 is the number of creativity, of family, relationships and success. This year on 6th June 2022, we have 666, so 3 times the opportunity of eliminating our fears and creating successful relationships.

Healing therefore involves the subtle manipulation of the macrocosm, which resulted in a beneficial manifestation within the universal replica, the microcosm, namely the human being. Man was born mortal but because he contained the seed of the divine, could be heavily influenced by divine intervention.  Life’s purpose was to nourish that seed and move towards a higher state of consciousness, leading to a reunification with the Divine.

Author Bruce Lipton, says a human body comprises 50 trillion cells, each meeting the definition of a living organism in as much as they respire, digest, reproduce, excrete and demonstrate sensitivity, growth and movement.  Hence each cell is like a miniature human being. The current population of the Earth is less than 7.7 billion. In many ways, each of us is like a single cell within the collective humanity.

If 50 trillion individual cells can harmonise together as a single community, there must be hope for 7.7 billion to co-ordinate positive thoughts and co-create a better future for our planet.

  • New Moon & Ash Wednesday, 6th March 2019

Wednesday 6th March is the Pagan New Moon @ 16.05.

The New Moon Abundance Ritual should be carried out within 24 hours.

Wednesday 6th March this year is also Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday is generally said to have been named after the tradition of burning away old issues in preparation for Lent.

The date of Lent - which takes place in either February or March but always seven weeks before Easter - varies from year to year according to the lunar calendar which determines when Easter falls.

ash wednesday image croppedHowever, Ash Wednesday could have obtained its name from an apparent tradition of placing a stick of Ash down one's sock for good luck!

Ouch, I can't see that being popular, but then maybe a smaller stick would have been advisable!

Interestingly, Ash Wednesday, although observed as a Christian Festival probably orginated as a Pagan Festival. It certainly isn't mentioned in the Bible, although in Biblical times, sprinkling oneself with dust and ashes was part of a Indian Vedic tradition as a mark of repentance, and repentance rituals were generally often accompanied with fasting. Furthermore, the German Pagans had a tradition of putting ashes over their brows to secure protection of the Norse God Odin (one of Odin's names in Norse is Ygg, which also means ash). Wednesday was Odin's day (our weekday name is directly derived from 'Odinsday'). It was only accepted into Catholic Church beliefs at the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD. The council also approved a 40-day fast duration to celebrate Lent.  This was the time period during which Constantine was striving for a harmonous union between the Christians and Pagans within the Roman Empire.

The start date of Lent was still under debate even after the Council of Niceaa. Pope Gregory, in 601, moved the commencement of Lent to Ash Wednesday (from the fourth Sunday of the year); this being 46 days before Easter. This allowed for 40 days of fasting with the six Sundays counting as feast days, making a total of 46 days for Lent. The tradition of using ashes to create the hape of a cross on parishioners foreheads was also instigated by Pope Gregory.

  • Samonios, All Saints Day, 1st November 2017

Pagan image of SamoniosWednesday 1st November starts the first month of the Celtic Year, called Samonios - 'Seed Fall'; mirroring the death/rebirth cycle of Asar (Osiris).

Further into the month shortly after the third quarter of the moon, a trio of stars including Rigel, Betelguese, and Castor march across the sky to illiminate this Oenach of light and birth.

  • Saturday 26th March, UK clocks go forward tonight

Clocks go forward 1 hourSaturday 26th March, in the UK this year, is also when the clocks go forward, in fact at 01.00 on Sunday 27th Marchit becomes 02.00, and that is the start of British Summer Time (BST).

Here in the UK, the clocks first went forward over 100 years ago, under the Summer Time Act 1916. Although the original campaign was proposed by builder William Willett who was a keen golfer of the time (perhaps to get an extra hour of play in the evening). Other sources say it was for the benefit of farmers, but the final decision was probably driven by potential energy savings with WWI taking place.

UK clocks go forward to operate BST (known internationally as DST = Daylight Saving Time) from the final Sunday in March until they go back one hour on the final Sunday in October. Then the UK returns to Greenwich Mean Time GMT (also now known as Universal Time). Putting the clocks back in the Winter (October - March) gives more light in the mornings when children are setting off for school.

It never ceases to amaze me that the World Time is based on the UK. I suppose that is a testament to the power of the British Empire when it was decided to formally co-ordinate time across the globe. Indeed, it was Sir George Airey, in 1851, who was responsible for the prime meridian being based at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, in London, England. Amongst the 25 nations represented at the International Meridian Conference, hosted at Washington DC, the location of ‘zero longitude’ being centred at Greenwich was decided by popular vote. However, France abstained and for several decades thereafter French maps continued to refer to the Paris meridian.

Although there is no scientific evidence to support the practice of DST, it does seem that aligning ourselves with extra sunshine helps to bring balance and wellbeing into our lives.

Through Harmony Healing, Joanna offers a wider spectrum of events designed to nurture your welbeing. If you are looking for regular spiritually enlightening activities which help to connect you with the lunar cycle, we have our monthly Full Moon Guided Healing Meditations. Cost to participate is £20 by online BACS payment (£1 admin fee added for PayPal) or half price to RSE graduates. There are multi-buy packages for regular attendees. Book at the Harmony Shop.

Harmony Healing utilises the philosophies of the Ancient Egyptians, in the form of Reyad Sekh Em (RSE) Egyptian Alchemy Healing, to bring balance and harmony. Reyad Sekh Em (RSE) Level 1 -our next interactive training course continues with Mindful Chakras (started 10th March) and Essene Angelology started 16th March.  Missed sessions are fully recorded so that late registrations are possible.

  • Saturday 30th April @ 21:30 UK time is Beltane New Moon & Black Moon by new definition, Partial Solar Eclipse & Beltane Eve in Pagan Tradition

New Moon partial solar eclipseSaturday 30th April is Beltane New Moon.@ 21:30, which is a Black or Blue Moon by the recent definitions, as well as being a partial solar eclipse, although not visible in London. It's also Beltane Eve (see section below).

Several definitions exist for a Black Moon;it's not an astronomicalterm but has been popularised by astrologers and Wiccan proponents via social media. It can be the third New Moon in an astronomical season with four New Moons or the second New Moon in the same calendar month, as we have this month with New Moons on 1st and 30th. More at timeanddate.com

Traditionally a Blue Moon was when a 4th New Moon or Full Moon appeared in a season where there would normally be three, now it is taken to mean when there are two New Moons or Full Moons in the same calendar month. Because this doesn't happen very often (only if a moon phase happens very near the beginning or end of the month), the expression 'once in a Blue Moon' in the UK refers to something seldom happening.

Even if we can't see much (or anything at all from some parts of the globe) there will still be an effect energetically.  Eclipses can bring suppressed emotions up for examination, clearing and release. Events, which caused ill-feeling at the time, but which have been long forgotten can raise their heads for resolution.

This partial solar eclipse, the first of 2022, is visible from parts of Antarctica, southern South America, over the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. More about this particular eclipse at timeanddate.com

During a partial solar eclipse, the Sun, Moon and Earth don't align in a straight line, and the Moon casts the outer part of its shadow (known as the penumbra), on Earth. From our perspective, it appears as if the Moon has taken a bite out of the Sun.

The term eclipse magnitude, refers to the size of the eclisped area. Occasionally, the Moon covers only a fraction of the Sun's disc. At other times a partial eclipse can look similar to a total eclipse. More about partial eclipses at timeanddate.com

The New Moon Abundance Ritual should be carried out within 24 hours after the New Moon.

It needs to be after the New Moon because the moon should be waxing (getting bigger again) to carry the manifestation energy.

There are video instructions on my Facebook Page or You Tube Page.

Any New Moon is a fabulous day for creating a personal or corporate Vision Board.

Gardening by the moon has been practised for eons. It's not about planting at night, it's about being in harmony with the natural growth patterns of plants.

The moon progresses through four ‘phases’ or ‘quarters’ , each of which lasts about 7 days. Starting with the New Moon (today), the moon waxes (grows larger) and more visible.

There is a daily increase in light until the Full Moon is visible. After Full Moon, the light wanes (reduces) gradually back until New Moon, completing the lunar cycle. In the same way that the moon influences the rise and fall of the tides, it has gravitational impact on the moisture in plants (sap), the soil and water table. These effects are aligned with the lunar cycle.

For sowing and harvesting, we need to be in harmony with the flow of moisture as it is drawn up the plant into the stem and leaves, fruit and seeds. Or down into the root zone with the gravitational pull of the moon for root vegetables. New Moon is not a good time to plant in your garden.

Aligning ourselves with the moon cycle is very therapeutic, hence being aware of the Full Moon (a good time for bringing projects to a conclusion) and the New moon (good for starting new projects) is excellent for bringing balance and wellbeing into our lives. For full immersion with moon energy join one of our New Moon New Vision, Lunar Cycle Alignment Programmes, which generally run between the New Moons in January/February, April/May & October/November.

Beltane 30th AprilSaturday 30th April is the Eve of Beltane; Pagan celebrations begin with people singing and dancing clockwise around the fire. The name 'Beltane' derives from the Celtic Deity 'Bel' (definition = 'the bright one') together with 'teine' – the Gaelic word for fire.

The combined meaning is 'Goodly Fire' or 'Bright Fire', hence bonfires were lit to encourage the Sun to nurture the forthcoming harvest and to honour Bel ask for his protection of the local community.

Bel seemingly required human effort before providing support so traditionally all community fires were extinguished and two Tein-eigen (translates as need-fire) bonfires were specially kindled for Beltane.

Cattle were driven between the fires to purify them with the smoke and bring fertility. People jumped over the fire (not the huge ones I presume) to cleanse, purify and enhance fertility.

Couples pledged themselves to each other by jumping the fires together and to bless their union. After the celebrations, which ran from sunset 30th April to sunset on 1st May, the villagers took a bit of the Teineigen to start fresh fires in their home hearth.

Dew gathered at dawn from the grass is traditionally used in potions for luck and it is thought to be lucky to roll naked in the dew!!!  I remember collecting the dew at dawn for luck as an adolescent but I didn't try the rolling naked in the dew so can't testify to whether that works for anything other than risking (indecent) exposure.

On Beltane itself, it's traditional to drink from a well before sunrise, then wash in the morning dew, adorn yourself with greenery, watch the sun come up, dance round the Maypole and otherwise abandon yourself to the season! Round Full Moon Cakes are eaten together with blackberry, elderberry, dandelion wine (or cider) being drunk. Visits are made to sacred springs where healing water is drunk.

Thanks also to Glastonbury-based Goddessandgreenman.co.ukwebsite who also credit Sacred Celebrations by Glennie Kindred as their information source. There are always amazing annual Beltane and May Day celebrations in Glastonbury and a 4-day Jack in The Green Festival is held in Hastings culminating on the May Day Bank Holiday (the first Monday after 1st May).

By keeping traditions, Pagan communities retained a sense of harmony and connection, thereby bringing balance and wellbeing into their lives.

Joanna's Harmony Healing activities - not involving any rolling in the dew celebrations - are aimed at bringing harmony and wellbeing into your life.

  • Saturday 30th October, UK clocks go back tonight

31 October BST to GMTSaturday 30th October, clocks go back tonight in the UK.

We’re currently on British Summer Time (BST), which means tonight we we move he clocks back to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

UK clocks go back on the final Sunday of October, with the change offically coming into effect at 2.00am.

It means that this year it’s happening in the early hours of Halloween (Samhain) Sunday 31st October, giving everyone an extra hour in the morning.

The purpose of changing of the clocks, is to give us an extra hour of daylight in the darkness of autumn and winter.

Interestingly, GMT is the standard time zone against all others in the world are referenced, and it will remain in place until the following spring, when it reverts back to BST again. This takes place at 1.00am on the final Sunday of March, which is 27th March this year in 2022.

It never ceases to amaze me that the World Time is based on the UK. I suppose that is a testament to the power of the British Empire when it was decided to formally co-ordinate time across the globe.
