Celestial Forecast Website slider final ImageFebruary in Britain sees the steady increase of daylight hours leading us towards spring, but air temperature remains unpredictable with this often presenting as the coldest month of the year with reasonable chance of snow. Look out for snowdrops poking through the soil, together with the yellow, white and violet of crocuses (or croci, apparently both plural forms are acceptable). The subtle aroma of witch hazel blossoms may linger. and the pretty white flowers of the wood anemone, known as an indicator of ancient woodland (rather like bluebells come May), may also appear but it's still early for them. Local ponds should be full of frogspawn, as well as similar gelatinous spawns laid by toads and newts.

The month of February was named after the Roman God Februa(sometimes called Februus) and his annual Roman springtime festival of purification and cleanliness. To the Anglo-Saxons, February was called 'Sōlmōnath', derived from 'sōl' - an Old English word for wet sand or mud. However, according to medieval scholar Bede, it relates to the month when ritual offerings of loaves of bread and savoury cakes were typical to ensure a good year’s harvest.

February begins with the Pagan Festival of Imbolc, join our onlineImbolc Ceremony, 2nd February, 7.30-9.30pm for £20. This monthwe can look forward to the Japanese Celebration of Setsuban (3rd), the traditional Festival of Valentine's Day (14th) plus the Roman festivals of Lupercalia (15th) and Caristia (22nd).

This year, February features the lead up to Lent, including Collop Monday (12th), Shrove Tuesday (13th), Ash Wednesday (14th), Fritter Thursday (15th) and Kissing Friday (16th). We have our only February Forest Bathing event 11am-1.30pm on Saturday 24th February at Harry Edwards in Shere (Surrey). Our Full Moon Meditation also takes place 7.30-9.30pm (UK time)on Saturday  24th, with Snow Full Moon peaking at 12:30. We have Forest Bathing and Harmony Healing vouchers available as gifts.

The New Year New Moon New Vision Course ends 9th/10th February with a distant Equilibrium Attunement, including symbols to help align us with the current western zodiac (Aquarius) and the Chinese New Year of the Dragon. The attunement is available as a stand-alone purchase for £44 (with 50% concession to my students), go to Harmony Shop to reserve your place.

Thursday 1st & Friday 2nd February is the Pagan Imbolc Ceremony, which is one of the four Great Celtic Festivals, and which is a Wiccan and Druid Festival of Fertility and Growing Light. Imbolc (pronounced EE-molk) is the old Celtic word; the celebration is also known as Candlemas (the latter is generally celebrated 2nd February). See entry below.

Friday 2nd FebruaryjoinJoanna and Sarah-Jane Dennis (Priestess of Avalon) for our Water Ceremony & Imbolc Celebration, 7.30-9.30pm (UK time), £20.  Imbolc shutterstock 114601966 Pagan wheelis sacred to the Goddess Brigit, Brigid or Bridie, the power of the new moon, the Spring of the year, the flowing sea, corn dollies and the Great Moon Mother - Patroness of Poetry Making and Healing. Brigit is a triple Goddess, so she can be honoured in all her aspects, she is associated with fire, fertility, midwifery and the young.

Imbolc Image by Antonia SkeltonThe Imbolc Festival marks the passing of Winter and the first signs of Spring, with the emergence of new leaves and early flowers such as the snowdrop and crocus, as well as being the transition point of the threefold Goddess energies from those of the Crone to the Maiden.

Imbolc is a Fire Festival and it is traditional, at sunset, to briefly light every light in the house. Or light candles in each room to celebrate the return of the sun. If it's been snowing, take time to enjoy walking in the snow, draw an image of the sun into the snow and reflect on the sun's warmth.

Traditional foods for Imbolc include anything dairy, including sour cream, as the festival celebrated the calving season. Spicy and rich foods, such as curry or anything made with peppers, leeks, onion, chives and/or garlic are appropriate to celebrate the sun, together with mulled wine and anything containing raisins which also represent the sun.

It's also a good time to clear clutter and look at what you want to achieve this year and ask Brigit's help in making it happen. Book the Imbolc Celebration at the Harmony Shop.

Setsubun hiragi iwashi ward away evil spritsSaturday 3rd February is Setsubun Bean-Throwing Festival, which is the day before the beginning of Spring in Japan.

The name literally means "seasonal division", but usually the term refers to the Spring Setsubun, celebrated yearly on February 3rd as part of the Spring Festival and accompanied by a special ritual to cleanse away all the evil of the former year and drive away disease-bringing evil spirits, or naughty ogres or spirits called ‘Oni’ for the year to come.

Why bean throwing? Families celebrate by scattering roasted soybeans outside the door of their house to chase out the oni (naughty ogres or spirits).

They may also throw soybeans at a member of the family dressed as an Oni. If lockdown life is getting you all a bit stir-crazy, maybe chucking beans at each other is a good way to let off some steam!

The image by Antonia Skelton, for Harmony Healing, shows items placed on a house to keep bad spirits away.

Friday 9th February @ 22:59 is New Moon and it's also a Super New Moon.

The New Moon Abundance Ritual should be carried out within 24 hours after the New Moon. It needs to be after the New Moon because the moon should be waxing (getting bigger again) to carry the manifestation energy. Image by Harmony Healing.

There are video instructions on my Facebook Page or You Tube Page.

It is a good day for creating a personal or corporate Vision Board for 2024. Harmony Healing provides a Vision Board template and periodically we offer a lunar cycle mentoring programme.

Our current New Year New Vision moon connection programme ends today, with an Equilibrium Attunement to energetically align participants with the Sun, Moon, planet Earth, the constellations, the current Zodiac of Pisces. The New Year New Moon New Vision Course ends 9th/10th February with an Equilibrium Attunement  (see YouTube video 'What Exactly is an Attunement?), which is usually available as a stand-alone purchase for £55, but I have it on offer for £44 (50% concession to my students), go to Harmony Shop to reserve your place.

Aligning ourselves with the moon cycle is very therapeutic, hence being aware of the New Moon (good for starting new projects) and Full Moon (a good time for bringing projects to a conclusion) is excellent for bringing harmony and wellbeing into our lives.

Chinese New Year w gold & rabbitSaturday 10th February, following the New Moon on the 9th February, Year of the Water Rabbit comes to a close and we progress into the Year of the Wood Dragon, which will last until 28th January 2025. A Dragon is a mythological creature and all Chinese legends about dragons, describe them as coming from the sky, which represents heaven, hence in China Dragon is a symbol of heavenly power. Dragon is viewed as a noble and untouchable beast with occult and mystical connotations. According to Chinese energy expert, Nicholas Haines, since Dragons are mythological creatures, they bring messages to remind us what we came to earth to do. And. that is to be our authentic self, so this will be the theme of 2024.  The wood energy brings in justice and the control of chaos, whereas the Dragon energy supports ambition, confidence, power and idealism.  It sounds like an interesting year!

Red is an auspicious colour and can be worn to bring energy, luck & happiness.

The Chinese calendar rotates through 60-year cycles based on 12 earthly branches, each represented by an animal year, as well as five element years which are wood, fire, earth, metal and water. 2022 was the year of the Water Tiger, 2023 was the Year of the Water Rabbit. We move into the wood element this year with the Wood Dragon. Each earthly branch is characterised, on a deeper level, by a yin or yang force and its own element.

In order, the 12 zodiac animals are: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. Hence the sign of the Dragon is the fifth animal of the Chinese zodiac and, with its strong yang energy, represents success and prosperity in their culture. 2024 is predicted to be a Year of Authenticity.

In Chinese culture, homes are thoroughly cleaned at the New Year to sweep away old ill fortune to make room for coming good luck, and fireworks are set off, and red (sometimes with gold) is worn to ward off evil monsters and bad luck.

Collop Monday 15thMonday 12th February, this year is Collop Monday, also known as Shrove Monday. It's the day before Shove Tuesdayand isn't widely observed, but it is a similar frugal tradition to the consumption of eggs in the form of pancakes to use them up before the start of the fasting period of Lent.

As described in an extract from the Nottingham Evening Post, 1931, Collops are chunks of cured meat (such as bacon) or leftover roasted meat, so this involves using up any remaining meat in the household before Lent.

In Cornwall, it's known as Peasen Monday because pea soup was the traditional dish of the day. Image by Harmony Healing.

Shrove Tuesday 16thTuesday 13th February is Mardi Gras, also known as Shrove Tuesday, or within the UK as Pancake Day. Being the final day before Lent, this was traditionally a day for confessing sins and using up all the foods banned during the Lent fast. With pancakes containing butter and milk, they became associated with the date.

The verb 'shrive' means to gain absolution for one's sins through confession and/or penance. Hence Shrove Tuesday is derived from the tradition that Christians were 'shriven' before Lent.

The date of Lent - which takes place in either February or March but always seven weeks before Easter - varies from year to year according to the lunar calendar which determines when Easter falls.

Interestingly, as with many Christian Festivals, there is a theory that Pancake Day might actually have originated as a Pagan holiday; when eating warm, circular yellow pancakes - resembling the sun - celebrated the arrival of spring. Image by Harmony Healing.

Ash Wednesday 17thWednesday 14th Februaryis Ash Wednesday this year, which is generally said to have been named after the tradition of burning away old issues in preparation for Lent.

The date of Lent - which takes place in either February or March but always seven weeks before Easter - varies from year to year according to the lunar calendar which determines when Easter falls.

However, Ash Wednesday could have obtained its name from an apparent tradition of placing a stick of Ash down one's sock for good luck!  Ouch, I can't see that being popular, but then maybe the choice of stick, regarding size and shape, is paramount!

Tuesday 14th February is, of course, also  Valentine's Day and is all about love and compassion, which includes Universal Love for all other living things and also Self-love which is so often overlooked. Some bitterly refer to it as Singles Awareness Day and blame card manufacturers and our materialistic society for love being ritualistically forced upon us every year at this time.

Copy of Valentine optionsHowever, although the story of 'Saint' Valentine long precedes Hallmark et al, the origins are somewhat blurred as there are historical references to the existence of several different Valentines. Folklore indicates that Valentine was a priest during the third century in Rome. Emperor Claudius II outlawed marriage as he believed that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families. Valentine, however, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages in secret. Claudius found out and Valentine was imprisoned, where one version of the legend indicates he befriended a jailer with a blind daughter and he may have somehow managed to restore her sight, resulting in the jailer converting to Christianity. Claudius ordered that Valentine be executed on February 14th and allegedly before his death sentence was carried out, he sent a note to the jailer's daughter and signed it, "From Your Valentine." Hence Valentine's Day is celebrated in his memory.

However, his death day and his association with lovers and notes may have been convenient for Roman Christians looking for ways to blend existing Pagan/Roman celebrations into their Calendar. Image by Harmony Healing.

Thursday 15th February is Fritter ThursdayAccording to The Free DictionaryFritter Thursday took its name from the custom of eating apple fritters, which were fruit-filled cakes deep-fried in fat, on this day.

    Fritter Thursday 18th

I was surprised that this would be an acceptable dish once Lent had commenced (as 'fritter' suggests batter which would contains egg and milk) and on further research I discovered that in Lancashire (source: lep.co.uk) traditionally ‘Shrovetide’ meant the three days before Lent and comprosed of ‘Collop Monday’, ‘Pancake Tuesday’ and ‘Fritters Wednesday’ (rather than Thursday) with the fritters being sliced apples fried in batter. Image by Harmony Healing.

Lupercalia image from WikipediaThursday 15th February is also Lupercalia in Ancient Roman tradition.

Apparently, this was the popular ceremony of fertility, featuring naked men running through the street!

I can’t see this catching on in the UK climate!

Roman images show men dressed as dogs (or possibly Wolves since Lupus meant Wolf) and goats, Cupid and other personifications of fertility.

Hence, some say this ceremony was the precursor for Valentines' Day. Image by Harmony Healing.

Kissing Friday image optionsFriday 16th February is Kissing FridayAccording to historic.co.uk, this bizarre custom was especially popular in the Victorian and Edwardian period and only died out in the mid-20th century.

Although unthinkable these days, a schoolboy could kiss a girl on this day without fear of repercussions.

Of course, first of all the girl had to be caught and in some instances this involved tying ropes across the street and passing girls would have to pay a kiss for safe passage across the rope.

Others would simply chase the girls until they caught them. Indeed, Kissing Fridaywas also the one day every year when girls could leave school early, to avoid being chased home by the boys.

In the Leicershire village of Sileby, this day was called Nippy Hug Day. Here, if the girl actively resisted a kiss, the boy could 'louse' (pinch) her bottom, a disturbing reference to the action of pinching off lice. Image by Antonia Skelton.

CaristiaWednesday 22nd February is the Roman Festival of Caristia.

This was a Feast Day occasion of family reunion, when Roman fathers would pay special attention to their families.

It was a day of reconciliation when disagreements were to be set aside, but the satirical poet Ovid apparently suggested this would be best achieved by excluding family members who caused trouble.

Families gathered together to dine and offer food and incense to the Guardian Deities, collectively known as Lares. Image by Harmony Healing..

March CF is hereDuring March, we can look forward to extended daylight and the awakening of nature, especially in the forest. As well as new green buds and sprouts on the trees, we start to see new growth at ground level, with a plethora of camelias, hellabores, daffodils, narcissi, hyacinths and daphne; some with a lovely subtle fragrance. And even where trees have fallen this last week, following three successive violent storms here in the UK, it will be amazing to observe the speed with which new saplings will appear to fill the spaces.

The Roman Calendar originally started in March and the month was named after Mars, the Roman God of War. To the Anglo-Saxons, March was called 'Hrēðmonath', named after a pagan fertility Goddess called 'Hreða' (also known as Rheda).

March begins with the Welsh celebration of St David's Day as well as the Roman Festival of Matronalia. March was a busy month in the Roman calendar, indeed, there’s even a festival for Roman Matrons (older married women) to celebrate by turning the household hierarchy of their day on its head. March is also a month for celebrating women in the modern calendar, with International Women’s Day (8th), Mothering Sunday (26th) and the celebration of numerous goddesses, Egyptian (5th & 20th) and Roman (1st, 15th, 17th & 19th). The Irish celebrate on 17th with St Patrick's Day. This year we have Easter 29th March - 1st April (different for Orthodox Easter).

We have Nature ConnectionForest Bathing events scheduled this month on the 17th at Harry Edwards, (Shere, Surrey).

For a deep dive into the ‘whys and wherefores’ of the listed festivals and spiritually significant days, I publish a blog post on the day in question. Or to receive the information to your mail inbox, sign-up for Blog update alerts.

Full Moon is Monday 25th March, peaking at 07:00. There's no Full Moon Guided Meditation this month, because I will be at the site of Stalag Luft III WWII POW camp (now in Poland) for the 80th Anniversary of the Great Escape.  I am giving two addresses to an assembly of RAF Officers relating to my father's POW experiences at the camp.

St Davids Day 1st MarchFriday 1st March is St David’s Day. St. David, Dewi Sant, is the patron saint of the Welsh, and 1st March, his feast day, is celebrated as a patriotic and cultural festival in Wales.

Saint David, Grandson of the King of Ceredigion, was said to have been born on a clifftop during a fierce storm. He died on this day during the year 500. He grew up to be a celebrated Bishop and founder of monastic settlements and churches. Glastonbury Abbey may have been founded by St David.

So why is David associated with a dragon? There is a myth that when David was asked by villagers to slay a dragon, he instead went to visit the dragon and listen to its sad tale.

Matronalia 1st MarchFriday 1st March is also Matronalia, according to Roman tradition, which was the topsy-turvy feast sacred to Juno, the birth Goddess.

It was also a celebration of marriage, and the peace that these unions could usher in between Romans and Sabini, tribes from the mountain region near the Tibor.

The Roman mistress of the house waited on her servants for the day and presents were given to other people’s partners!

The wives of the house also gave a feast for their female slaves.

    5th March Ploiaphesia framed

Tuesday 5th March is Ploiaphesia, Egyptian Festival of Navigation. This was when one of the most important festivals of the Egyptian Goddess Isis was celebrated, the Ploiaphesia or Navigium Isidis (Ship of Isis).

The festival marked the opening of the safe sailing season after the stormy weather of winter had passed. A statue of Isis was carried in procession from her temple down to the harbour, where a specially-built ship was moored. The ship would then be loaded with offerings and dedicated to the Goddess, before being launched and carried out to sea by the wind.

The festival is described by Apuleius in his Metamorphoses (also known as the Golden Ass). To participate you can enjoy the energy of water and celebrate with processions, lights, mirrors, music and flowers. We have informative Egyptian Deity Posters available for sale from the Harmony Shop. explanation.

IWD 8th MarchFriday 8th March is International Women’s Day; a day designated to celebrate the empowerment of women worldwide.

The theme for International Women's Day 2024 is Inspire Inclusion. From the website:

When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world.

And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment.

Collectively, let's forge a more inclusive world for women.

It is a good day for creating a personal or corporate Vision Board for 2024. Harmony Healing proviides a Vision Board template and periodically we offer a lunar cycle mentoring programme.

Mothers Day 14thSunday 10th March is also Mothering Sunday in  the UK, now viewed as a chance to recognise the positive role of mothers in our lives.

Often posies of daffodils are presented.

Mothering Sunday is celebrated by Christians  in the UK & Ireland and some other English speaking countries. It takes place on the fourth Sunday in Lent, which is exactly three weeks before Easter Day.

It was once observed as a day when people visited their mother church, but has become a day for honouring mothers and exchanging presents with them. Increasingly it's being referred to as Mother's Day, although that name originated as an American secular holiday, celebrated on a different date and quite distinct from the initial UK based Mothering Sunday.

Friday 15th March was the Ides of March in Roman tradition and a Festival to Jupiter. Anna Perenna etc. 15th

Shakespeare had a soothsayer warn Julius Caesar 'Beware the Ides of March'. Indeed he was reputedly assassinated on 15th March 44 BC.

In Ancient Rome, 15th March was also the celebration ofAnna Perenna.

Offerings were made to the Spirit of the Year, so that the circle could be completed.

St Patricks Day used 2021Sunday 17th March is St Patrick’s Day in Ireland. St Patrick is credited with converting the Irish back to Christianity which had been abandoned under Roman rule.

Saint Patrick is said to have used the Shamrock (three leaved clover) as a metaphor for the Christian Trinity.

The name shamrock comes from the Irish word seamróg, which is derived from the Irish word for clover (seamair) and means simply "little clover" or "young clover".

Liberalia 17 MarchSunday 17th March was also the Roman Festival of Liberalia, this was the feast to celebrate the male coming of age!

In view of the date coinciding with St Patrick's Day, having abandoned Christianity under Roman rule, I wonder if there is a connection that when Eire re-converted to Christianity they chose the Roman Festival for males coming of age as their date of celebration...

Considering the theme of rebirthing and the Spring Equinox, I can't help wondering if it was a development from the Egyptian Pelusia Festival, see 20th March entry.

Tuesday 19th Marchis the Roman Festival of Quinquatrus,so named because it was the 5th day after the Ides of March. Quinquatrus 19th March

This was a Festival in honour of Minerva; it seems that women were accustomed to consult fortune-tellers and diviners upon this day.

At one time, celebrations took place 19th - 23rd of March, orginally an Etruscan festival to celebrate spring, rites of women, rebirthing and the Spring Equinox. I can't help wondering if it was a development from the Egyptian Pelusia Festival, see 20th March entry.

Pagan EquinoxWednesay 20th March is Spring Equinox at 03:06. On the Equinox, light and dark are equal over the whole world: mark the moment of the Equinox with silence and stillness.

Representing balance of opposites; it's a good time to bring balance into your life.

Pelusia 20thMonday 20th March is the Egyptian Festival of Pelusia, with the Egyptian Goddess Isis working her spring magic to ensure the flooding of the Nile later in the year, thereby guaranteeing a fruitful harvest.

We have informative Egyptian Deity Posters available for sale from the Harmony Shop.

IDF image 2Thursday 21st March is International Day of Forests, sponsored by the United Nations. The theme for 2024 is ‘Forests and Innovation’.

Forests are home to more that 60,000 tree species; comprising about 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity.

In fact, 1.6 billion people are directly dependent on forests for their shelter, food, medicines, income and energy.  Alarmingly, we are losing around 10 million hectares of global forest annually (the size of Iceland) and this is said to account for 12-20% of greenhouse gas emissions thought to contribute to our climate change.

As a qualified Forest Bathing guide, I am delighted to see Forests being recognised for their wellbeing benefits and valuable biodiversity and efforts being made to protect dwindling international woodlands.

Alec Bristow the Great EscapeSunday 24th March,80 years ago today, during the night of 24 March 1944, 76 airmen escaped out of the Prisoner of War camp Stalag Luft III. The event was immortalised by the 1963 Hollywood blockbuster The Great Escape, which was partly fictional but a surprising amount of astounding activities depicted in the film were based on fact. Of the 76, only three made it home and, of the remainder, 50 were murdered on Hitler’s orders, in direct contravention of the Geneva Convention. Joanna's father, Alec Bristow, was a WWII Mosquito Pilot, imprisoned in the camp at the time, and Joanna offers a popular talk on his memoirs of the occasion. She will be giving two addresses to RAF officers, at the museum located at original location of the camp (now in Poland) as part of the 80th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony.

Sunday 24th March, this year, is also Palm Sunday in the Christian Calendar this year. Palm Sunday, also known as Passion Sunday, is the 6th Sunday of Lent and the final Sunday before Easter.

Traditionally it marks the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.

The name is believed to commemorate the placement of palm leaves on the road to soften the surface for the donkey on which he was riding.

Equinox worm moonMonday 25th March@ 07:00 is Worm Full Moon and a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse. The start of the eclipse will be visible in London (from about 05:00) until the Moon dips below the horizon, see Time and Date for details.

Between Full Moon and the next New Moon is considered as a good time energetically for detoxing the body.

For details of Full Moon timings for the year, as well as instructions for an Angela McGerr Angelic Meditation with Gabriel, see Harmony Healing Full Moon link.

This year, since Joanna will be giving presentations in Poland at this time, there will be no live meditation, but you can purchase Joanna's pre-recorded any month Full Moon meditation. Cost to participate is £20 by online BACS payment (£1 admin fee added for PayPal, concessions to RSE/VFoA graduates), book at the Harmony Shop.

Good Friday 2nd AprilFriday 29th March, this year, is also the Christian Festival of Good Friday, which is a Bank Holiday in the UK as part of the Easter break.

This commemorates the day when Jesus was crucified.

It was not called ‘Good Friday’ until 4th Century and may be a corruption of God’s Friday.

Easter Saturday 3rd AprilSaturday 30th March is Easter Saturday in the Christian Calendar.

It commemorates the day that Jesus was buried in a tomb following his crucifixion.

Last weekend in MarchSaturday 30th March, in the UK this year, is also when the clocks go forward.

In fact at 01.00 on Sunday 31st March is the start of British Summer Time/.

However, we often have a while to wait until summer arrives in the UK.

hare triscol by Jackie MorrisSunday 31st March is Easter Sunday, which is generally taken to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus three days after his crucifixion. Intriguingly, Easter Sunday is not a set date but is calculated according to the Lunar cycle, so it can move around between 22nd March and 25th April. It's fixed as the Sunday following the first Full Moon after the Vernal (Spring) Equinox. Coptic Easter, celebrated by the Orthodox Church is usually a week later.

This points to the celebration being linked to an earlier Pagan celebration, which were all associated with seasons and moon cycles.  The name Easter itself is derived from the Pagan God Eostre. the Easter Egg is reminiscent of the Pagan egg to symbolise fertility. And of course, the Easter Bunny, a strange addition to a crucifixion story, makes a lot more sense when viewed as a sign of spring, and possibly even a hare. Watch my YouTube presentation: Was Easter superimposed into an earlier Pagan Festival?

The Hare is another ancient symbol of fertility, with a 28 day gestation period very linked to the lunar cycle.

In Ancient Egypt the hare is a hieroglyph meaning ‘existence’

It is created using many sources but notably the Moonwise Calendar and Lia Leendertz's annual Almanac. Whilst considerable effort is made to ensure accuracy, this is not an exact science and sources are sometimes contradictory!

These monthly Celestial Forecasts (CF) are generally uploaded to the Harmony Healing website 2-3 months ahead and can be accessed via the drop-down box on the right. They are sent out to the main mailing list and CF subscribers a few days before the month starts.

Extracts from the Celestial Forecast are reproduced in Glyden Magick, an online magazine offered via Gylden Fellowship which is a fabulous resource for Neo-Pagans (particularly in the South of England when physical meet-ups can resume).

  • Friday 16th February, Kissing Friday in Christian Tradition

Kissing Friday by DarkWorkX from PixabayFriday 16th February is Kissing Friday. The days leading up to and into Lent were Collop Monday, Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, Fritter Thursday and Kissing Friday (source: Lia Leendertz's2020 Almanac).

According to historic.co.uk, this bizarre custom was especially popular in the Victorian and Edwardian period and only died out in the mid-20th century.

Similarly, in areas of Cumbria, the day was known as Nippy Lug Day, where the custom involved pinching the ears.

The date of Lent - which takes place in either February or March but always seven weeks before Easter - varies from year to year according to the lunar calendar which determines when Easter falls. The fact that Lent, and indeed Easter, are determined by the lunar calendar tends to suggest that they were superimposed over Pagan celebrations.

The Council of Nicaea, in 325 AD, approved a 40-day fast duration to celebrate Lent. This was the time period during which Constantine was striving for a harmonious union between the Christians and Pagans within the Roman Empire.

The start date of Lent was still under debate even after the Council of Nicaea. Pope Gregory, in 601, moved the commencement of Lent to Ash Wednesday (from the fourth Sunday of the year); this being 46 days before Easter. This allowed for 40 days of fasting with the six Sundays counting as feast days, making a total of 46 days for Lent. The tradition of using ashes to create the shape of a cross on parishioners foreheads was also instigated by Pope Gregory.

  • Friday 19th May @ 16:35 UK time is New Moon & Black Moon by old definition

.Pagan Dark Moon 13th 2Friday 19th May @ 16:53 is a Black Moon = third New Moon in a season with four New Moons.

Several definitions exist for a Black Moon;it's not an astronomicalterm but has been popularised by astrologers and Wiccan proponents via social media. It can be the third New Moon in an astronomical season with four New Moons or the second New Moon in the same calendar month. The former definition applies in this case.  More at timeanddate.com

Traditionally a Blue Moon was when a 4th New Moon or Full Moon appeared in a season where there would normally be three, now it is taken to mean when there are two New Moons or Full Moons in the same calendar month. Because this doesn't happen very often (only if a moon phase happens very near the beginning or end of the month), the expression 'once in a Blue Moon' in the UK refers to something seldom happening.

The New Moon Abundance Ritual should be carried out within 24 hours after the New Moon.

It needs to be after the New Moon because the moon should be waxing (getting bigger again) to carry the manifestation energy.

There are video instructions on my Facebook Page or You Tube Page.

Any New Moon is a fabulous day for creating a personal or corporate Vision Board.

Gardening by the moon has been practised for eons. It's not about planting at night, it's about being in harmony with the natural growth patterns of plants.

The moon progresses through four ‘phases’ or ‘quarters’ , each of which lasts about 7 days. Starting with the New Moon (today), the moon waxes (grows larger) and more visible.

There is a daily increase in light until the Full Moon is visible. After Full Moon, the light wanes (reduces) gradually back until New Moon, completing the lunar cycle. In the same way that the moon influences the rise and fall of the tides, it has gravitational impact on the moisture in plants (sap), the soil and water table. These effects are aligned with the lunar cycle.

For sowing and harvesting, we need to be in harmony with the flow of moisture as it is drawn up the plant into the stem and leaves, fruit and seeds. Or down into the root zone with the gravitational pull of the moon for root vegetables. New Moon is not a good time to plant in your garden.

Aligning ourselves with the moon cycle is very therapeutic, hence being aware of the Full Moon (a good time for bringing projects to a conclusion) and the New moon (good for starting new projects) is excellent for bringing balance and wellbeing into our lives.

  • Friday 22nd December is the Pagan Solstice @ 03.27, Winter Solstice in Northern Hemisphere (Summer Solstice in Southern Hemisphere)

21 Dec Wnter SolsticeFriday 22nd December is the Pagan Solstice @ 03.27. It's the Winter Solstice here in the UK - the shortest day of the year with just 7 hours and 49 minutes daylight. The solstice itself is the moment the sun is shining farthest to the south, directly over the Tropic of Capricorn, so the time varies every year, between December 20th and 23rd.

The solstice marks the moment the sun shines at its most southern point and has been celebrated as a major Pagan festival, with rituals of rebirth, for thousands of years. Revellers gather at Stonehenge to watch the sunrise on the shortest day. Then, in the Northern Hemisphere, our days will gradually get longer until the summer solstice on Wednesday 21st June 2023 at 15:57.

Many of the traditions now associated with Christmas had their roots in Pagan Winter Solstice celebrations; including Yule logs, mistletoe and Christmas trees. The Druids - an ancient Celtic order of priests, teachers, diviners and magicians who gleaned knowledge and enlightenment from sacred landscapes and ancient trees such as ‘Tutorial Oaks’ - used evergreen trees, holly and mistletoe to represent everlasting life. Druids would consider the cutting of trees as an offence against nature, but would decorate them with colourful rags tied on the branches.

Celebrating traditional Celtic festivals like the Winter Solstice, helped Pagan communities come together and bring balance and harmony into people's lives.

Aligning ourselves with heavenly bodies, partiucularly the moon cycle, is very therapeutic, hence being aware of the Full Moon (a good time for bringing projects to a conclusion) and the New moon (good for starting new projects) is excellent for bringing balance and wellbeing into our lives.

For a complete alignment with the Lunar Cyce, we are running aNew Year New Moon New Vision mentoring programme through the first full lunar cycle of 2024, detailed on this YouTube video.

    Attuned and Aligned
This first lunar cycle of the New Year takes in the intention setting of the first New Moon, through Imbolc (1st/2nd Febuary) and culminates on the Chinese New Year on 10th/11th February when we move from the Year of the Rabbit to the Year of the Dragon.

This is intended to be a fun and participative event (though some activities will be recommended rather than compulsory), with members of the group supporting each other throughout the programme. Participants will be joining in from their home location, with at least 3 online virtual group mentoring sessions (totalling over 6 hours) and therefore receiving their attunements by distance, with e-mail and What's App support. See the video to find out more about the programme and see New Year New Moon New Vision on the harmony Website to find out your commitment.

  • Friday 22nd September, Ancient Egyptian Ritual of the Neteru of the Two Lands, Equinox @ 07:49 Saturday 23rd

Friday 22nd September is the Ancient Egyptian Ritual of the Neteru of the Two Lands. This year it's the day before the Equinox. As the exact date of the Equinox moves, they don't always coincide but often do. Co-incidence? I doubt it, the ancients knew a thing or two about the seasons and nature.

Map of Lower Egypt from WikipediaThe Two Lands, comprising of Upper & Lower Egypt, were presided over by the more successful Pharoahs. To the north was Lower Egypt where the Nile fans into the Nile Delta. To the south was Upper Egypt, stretching to Aswan.

The terms Upper and Lower Egypt are derived from the unusual geography of the Nile, which unlike most rivers, flows from south to north. Its origins are in the highlands of East Africa and it ends with the Nile Delta which drains into the Mediterannean Sea.

Double Crown of Egypt image from WikipediaIn Spiritual lore, Upper and Lower Egypt could be said to represent the higher and lower self of the human body, and as such would need to be integrated on an annual basis with the help of the Neteru (Deities or Angelic Beings).

The unification of Upper and Lower Egypt occurred in about 3000 BC, but the pschent - or double crown, see Wikipedia image on the right - worn by the Pharoahs represented the combined regalia of both areas; the hedjet or White Crown for Upper Egypt and the deshret or Red Crown for Lower Egypt, each half representing sovereignty of one of the kingdoms.

Established Ancient Egyptian tradition generally credits Menes (also known as Narmer), as the king who united Upper and Lower Egypt. On the Narmer Palette the king is depicted wearing the Red Crown in one scene and the White crown in another, and thereby showing his rule over both Lands.

By keeping traditions, ancient communities in Egypt retained a sense of harmony and connection, thereby bringing balance and wellbeing into their lives. Harmony Healing utilises the philosophies of the Ancient Egyptians to bring balance and harmony.

Solstice image licensed by DreamtimeSaturday 23rd September at 07:49 (Saturday morning) is the Pagan Celebration of the Autumn Equinox, marking the time of harvest festival and fulfilment of summer; since, in the Northern Hemisphere, from now on there will be more dark than light for the rest of the year. An equinox is an astronomical event when the plane of Earth's equator passes the center of the Sun. Equinoxes occur twice a year, around 21 March and 22/3 September.

At this point in the year, the night and day lengths are exactly equal, so it's a time of balance and a good time for introspection, look for what is good and worthwhile to become seeds for next year.

Aligning ourselves with the heavenly bodies is very good for harmony and wellbeing.

  • Full Moon Angela McGerr Angelic Meditation

Gabriel Image by Richard Rockwood, from A Harmony of Angels by Angela McGerrA Full Moon Meditation with Gabriel by Angela McGerr, from her A Harmony of Angels Book

BECAUSE OF GABRIEL’S MOON INFLUENCE, YOU CAN USE THE TIME/POWER OF FULL MOON IN VARIOUS WAYS

As Ruler of the Moon Gabriel can help you to draw on the true feminine power of the moon, allowing you to develop your intuition as well as understanding and realising your true potential.  Maximum time of benefit is the day of full moon.  Angels are usually thought to be without gender, but Gabriel is considered a feminine energy. You can use one of the following crystals to help in your invocations: moonstone, which is for developing inner wisdom and resources and learning to follow your hunches, or selenite, which is associated with the moon.  You could also use a general angelic stone such as milky quartz or angel hair quartz.

    • Invoke Gabriel by name three times, and then ask her to help you focus the powerful energy of the moon to your heart and your mind, to develop your intuition, in Love and Light, Love and Light, Love and Light.
    • Ask Gabriel to completely surround you with protective pure white light during this meditation.  In your mind see the radiance all around you.
    • Imagine roots growing from your feet into the floor, anchoring and grounding.
    • Take some slow, deep breaths in and out and focus on your inner self
    • Feel yourself relaxing and going deeper.  Let external sounds become part of the background, and maintain your focus within heart.
    • Visualise the meridian line within your body, extending downwards.  It reaches from the crown on top of your head, through the major chakras - your brow, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral and finishes at the base of your spine, base/root chakra of your being.
    • Visualise the moon and imagine her pure light.  Draw this silver radiance down into your crown, which is your spiritual connection to the cosmos.
    • Next feel the energy filling your brow, reaching your intuition, subconscious and the world of your dreams.
    • Now it travels down to your throat, which is your power of creative expression.
    • You can also ask for Gabriel’s help to focus the powerful energy of the moon to your heart, to clarify your life purpose.
    • Now imagine the energy flowing further down the meridian line and completely filling the column within your body, travelling down your legs and tingling in your feet.
    • Through your feet send energy to the heart of Mother Earth, and ask for her blessing on your life path and new aspirations.
    • Bring the power of Mother Earth back into your energy meridian.
    • Feel the combined powers of Earth and Moon filling the cells of your body.
    • Ask to understand your own true potential and for the ability to develop into it for your highest good.
    • Feel yourself filled with purpose and a renewed sense of direction.  Enjoy!
    • Open your eyes when ready and stamp your feet if you feel you need to ground your energies.
    • Remember to always thank the angels for their loving assistance.

  • Guy Fawkes Night 2018

Monday 5th Novemberin the UK is Guy Fawkesnight.  Some sources indicate that this replaced the Samhain Fire Festival, which was transferred in Britain to the night after the Gunpowder Plot - Guy Fawkes's attempt to blow up parliament in 1605. The ritual burning of the Guy certainly resembles the Pagan sacrifice of the corn king!

The beautiful firework photograph is supplied by Ice Flow Studios.com generously supplied for no charge in exchange for a share.

  • Halloween, 31st October 2017

Shutterstock Pagan Wheel InageTuesday 31st October  traditionally marks the end of the harvest and the beginning of the Celtic and Pagan New Year. Samhain is Irish-Gaelic for 'the Summer's end', and is pronounced 'sow-in'. Samhain represents the death of the summer sun god, Lugh. This festival celebrates Nature's cycle of death and renewal.  This is traditionally known as Halloween.

Samhain is one of the four Gaelic seasonal festivals; along with Lughnasadh, Imbolc and Beltane.

In the Northern Hemisphere, Samhain heralds the beginning of Winter when the world starts to darken and the days are getting shorter; the 'dark half' of the year and the demise of the sun's uplifting influence.  The crone, personified as Cailleach - the Queen of the Winter - was reborn on every All Hallows Eve, returning to bring the Winter and protect animals through the coldest months. She turned to stone on Beltane Eve, Beltane being 1st May.

  • Lunasa Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse

Gabriel Harmony Angel CardMonday 7th August is Pagan Lunasa Full Moon at 19.11 and a penumbral lunar eclipse.

Between this date and the next New Moon is considered as a good time energetically for detoxing the body.

Click here for Angela McGerr's Full Moon Angelic Meditation with Gabriel.

Image of Gabriel by Richard Rockwood from Angela McGerr's Harmony Angel Cards.

We also have an umbral eclipse (ahead of the total eclipse 21st August visible across much of America), as the moon sweeps across the earth's shadow from west to east. More details from the EarthSky.org website, which includes a link to watch the eclipse live via a telescope in Rome, Italy.

Sadly, we won't see anything much here in the UK due to the timing of the eclipse taking place before the moon will have risen in the sky here.  This means we will only see a penumbral eclipse, where the shadowed part is a little more faint than the rest of the moon.  Our penumbral eclipse will take place between 16.50 and 21.50, peaking at 20.35 when, if there are few enough clouds to see anything, there will still be sun in the sky!  See timeanddate.com for full details of the UK experience...

Whether the eclipse is visible or not, energetically we are all affected. Astrologically (summarised with thanks from astrostyle.com), lunar eclipses illuminate our shadow self,as defined by Carl Jung.  This can be a challenging experience, as many of us are not keen (or even open) to acknowledging and addressing our faults.  However, facing our suppressed emotions (such as anger, jealousy, greed) and confronting our fears provides a great opportunity to move forward in life; past what may have seemed to be insurmountable obstacles.  Accepting that we have faults and integrating this knowledge internally is very beneficial for our personal spiritual development.

The Full Moon has a gravitation effect on the Earth, hence leading to a tidal impact on our oceans.  Whilst it is has not been scientifically proven, it is logical to assume that this also has an impact on us as we are largely comprised of water (60-80% supposedly).

At the time of the Full Moon the Sun and Moon are in opposition.  The solar (sun) energy influences our masculine/yang archetypal attributes (our outer world) such as strength, courage, identity, self-esteem, expression, conscious beliefs and determination together with our logical outlook.  Whereas the lunar energy (moon) influences our feminine/yin archetypal attributes (our inner world), such as our unconscious beliefs, hidden emotions, nurturing feelings, creativity and intuition. The Full Moon is a powerful and appropriate time to show gratitude for life and the riches and bounty bestowed upon us by Mother Earth (Gaia).

Weather permitting, outdoor moon bathing can be very therapeutic, simply breathe the silver energy in and out and, if the mood takes you, undertake an outdoor meditation.  It’s a wonderful time to put crystals (don’t put out any soluble crystals if it might rain) outside to be recharged by the lunar energy.

The Angel Gabriel is the Guardian of the Moon in Essene Angelology, and thus this is a powerful time to undertake Angela McGerr’s Full Moon Meditation with Gabriel.

Additional aspects brought in due to the astrology of this particular Full Moon, which is 15.25© Aquarius – 15.25© Leo (courtesy of universallifeforms.com and Angela McGerr’s Harmony Angel Cards for the angelic guardians).

Aquarius (air) brings humanitarianism, individualism, rebellion, pioneering determinism, independence.
The Angelic Guardian of Aquarius is Cambriel overseeing ambition, principles and ideals.

Leo (fire) brings leadership, affection, generosity, extraversion, stubbornness, authority, courage, compassion.
The Angelic Guardian of Leo is Verchiel overseeing courage, leadership and loyalty.

Further energetic aspects are brought in by the lunar eclipse and the numerology of year 2017 which is a 10 and/or 1 and which also marked a unique planetary alignment staring on 7th  January 2017, a date which added up to 9 (7+1+2+0+1+7 = 9). Nine is the vibration of ascension. This date saw the start of a planetary alignment of all nine planets of our solar system (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) plus our sun = 10.  We understand this date was foreseen hundreds of years ago as being very auspicious, so this year so far has been very eventful for many sensitive individuals.  For many it has led to numerous developments, which on the whole have been very positive,

The word eclipse is derived from the Greek ekleipsis, meaning abandon or vanish.  This is very relevant for the emotions experienced during an eclipse; as it brings the desire to let go of the superfluous parts of ourselves which are limiting our greater potential. Consider any emotional issues which came up around the time of the most recent eclipse back in February, this is the ideal opportunity to ‘let go’ of these issues. This August, the highlighted issues are relationships; whether with friends, family, lovers, community, or via political and societal systems, or specifically with yourself. Shine the illumination on all your relationships and through the energy exchange try to inject love and kindness, even in the face of pain, fear hurt and separation.  Try and isolate the parts of your body reflecting these emotions that no longer serve you and try to hold a vision of perfection and positive outcome in your heart. We need as many people as possible to be holding positive thoughts as this time.

The influence of Aquarius brings the pioneering spirit of innovation and the humanitarian love which brings expansive opportunities. It is an opportunity to plough your own furrow and not simply to follow the crowds.  Eclipses provide the perfect energy for letting go for your Highest Good, the influence of Leo helps to make this less uncomfortable.

Some other planetary influences include Jupiter square Pluto, empowering us to be seen, marks in weak conjunction with the sun, leads to an energy influx leading some sensitives to be having difficulty with sleeping. To combat this, try to combat any irritability and instil a degree of patience. Sirius opposing Pluto (also in weak conjunction with Venus) encourages the surrender of aggression and facilitates a kind and loving choice instead; emerging brighter and empowered and spiritually on-purpose.  Thanks again to universallifeforms.com for much of the material enabling me to write this post.

On Tuesday 8th August we have the annual 8:8 Lions Gate, which brings its own influx of energy.  A Blog about this will be posted subsequently, in the meantime, you can find out more from my Celestial Forecast for August.

Monday 7th & Tuesday 8th August is Joanna's Introduction to Reyad Sekh Em course. Cost is £200.

Reyad Sekh Em® (RSE) is an ultra high vibrational Egyptian Alchemy healing system which harnesses the angelic elemental healing rays of earth, air, fire, water and spirit with etheric crystalline energies plus sound vibration and sacred breathing.

  • Monday 1st May, Celtic Pagan Beltane plus Roman Bona Dea

May Day BeltaneMonday 1st May is May Day and Beltane - a Celtic word meaning 'fires of Bel' (Bel was a Celtic and Gaelic Deity). It is a fire festival that celebrates the coming of summer and the fertility of the coming year. Celtic Priests, as well as other high ranking officials in Celtic society, were called Druids. Celtic festivals often tied in with the needs of the community.

In springtime, at the beginning of the farming calendar, everybody would be hoping for a fruitful year for their fields and hence also their families. Beltane rituals would often include courting: for example, young men and women collecting blossoms in the woods and lighting fires in the evening.

Beltane is one of the four nature-connected Celtic seasonal festivals; along with Lughnasadh, Samhain and Imbolc.

1st May Jack in the Green Hastings 2022Jack in the Green' was revived as an annual festival in Hastings in 1982 and this year celebrates its 40th Anniversary, 28th April - 1st May.

Beltane rituals would often include courting: for example, young men and women collecting blossoms in the woods and lighting fires in the evening.

These rituals would often lead to matches and marriages, either immediately or in the coming summer or autumn. See yesterday's Blog for more on the meaning and festivities of Beltane.

Bona Dea 1st May1st May was also the annual Roman Festival of Bona Dea. In Roman mythology, Bona Dea (literally "the good goddess") was the goddess of fertility, healing, virginity, and women.

She was the daughter (or wife/sister depending on sources) of the nature-god Faunus and was associated with supplying medicinal healing herbs in her temple garden.

Bona Dea was also invoked for freedom from slavery; many of her worshippers were freed slaves and plebeians, and many were women seeking aid in sickness or for fertility.

This Festival was celebrated by women only, with men being barred from any knowledge of her mysteries!

This would have comprised part of the six day Roman Festival of Floralia, commencing on 28th April (Julian Calender equivalent), detailed on my earlier Blog.

By keeping traditions, Celtic and Roman communities retained a sense of harmony and connection, thereby bringing balance and wellbeing into their lives.

  • Monday 20th July, New Moon @ 18.33

Monday 20th July @ 18.33 UK time (GMT/UT+1) is the New Moon. See below for the New Moon abundance ritual.

The New Moon Abundance Ritual should be carried out within 24 hours after the New Moon. It needs to be after the New Moon because the moon should be waxing (getting bigger again) to carry the manifestation energy.

There are video instructions on my Facebook Page or You Tube Page.

New Moon is a good time to work on your Vision Board (downloadable instructions on this page) for the rest of 2020. Hopefully a move towards a world where we can move freely again and are enjoying a global economic recovery.

Aligning ourselves with the moon cycle is very therapeutic, hence being aware of the New moon (good for starting new projects) and Full Moon (a good time for bringing projects to a conclusion) is excellent for bringing harmony and wellbeing into our lives.

Harmony Healing utilises the philosophies of the Ancient Egyptians to bring balance and harmony. A number of virtual courses are now ready and a selection are starting again this month, including Reyad Sekh Em (RSE) Egyptian Alchemy Healing Level 1 (which is now fully available as interactive training modules) details on Harmony Healing Virtual Events. Currently, due to Coronavirus, most events will be virtual hence distant readings and healings are proving popular. We don't recommend giving a reading or healing to another person, without first checking whether it would be welcomed.

If you are looking for spiritually enlightening activities during lockdown, Joanna offers distant intuitive readings (past life and/or aura readings) and distant 1-2-1 healings and virtual healing circles. We also havemeditations available.

  • Monday 23rd September, Equinox

earth lighting equinox enMonday 23rd September at 08.50 is the Pagan Celebration of the Autumn Equinox, marking the time of harvest festival and fulfilment of summer; since, in the Northern Hemisphere, from now on there will be more dark than light for the rest of the year. In the Southern Hemisphere it's the Spring Equinox, heralding the longer days leading to the Summer Solstice.

An equinox is an astronomical event when the plane of Earth's equator passes the center of the Sun. Equinoxes occur twice a year, around 21st March and 22nd/23rd September.

The image on the right, by Przemyslaw Blueshade Idzkiewicz (from Wikipedia), shows the illumination of Earth by Sun on the day of equinox (vernal and autumnal). It is a view to eastern-hemisphere  showing  noon  in  Central European time zone (ignoring DST) on the day of equinox.

At this point in the year, the night and day lengths are exactly equal, so it's a time of balance and a good time for introspection, look for what is good and worthwhile to become seeds for next year.

Here in the UK, followers of the Druids, Pagans, Celtic and Gaelic traditions, as well as Wicca religion, gather at megalithic stone circles such as Stonehenge (Near Salisbury, Wiltshire) and Castlerigg (Keswick, Cumbria), to celebrate and watch the equinox sunrise.

  • Monday 6th June, first of three dates with 666 Numerology

    555 numerology

Monday 6th June is a primary 666 in numerology. 2022 is a '6' year in numerology (2+0+2+2 = 6), June is the 6th month and today is the 6th day of the month, so this is a primary 666 as each component of the month adds up to 6. Wednesday 15th and Friday 24th June (the latter also being Midsummers Day) will carry secondary 666 energy as the components of these dates also add up to 6.

    What is Numerology?
Numerology is the study of the symbolism of numbers.

Numerology is the study of the symbolism of numbers and the science attributing significance and meaning to seemingly random numbers happening globally or noticed in our environment. Double or triple digit numbers are added together and reduced into a single digit (as above with the digits of the year).

The Numerology of the Number 6 and 666

In numerology, the number 6 can be said to represent the sacred vibration of light focusing on love, marriage, home, family, nurturing, compassion, healing, service and success. Number 6 also symbolises beauty and high ideals.

But by far the most vital representation of the number 6 is healing and integration, particularly regarding personal cellular vibration.

It’s bizarre that 666 has been associated with the number of the devil, since it is a very positive number in numerology. Mystics believe it is precisely because of its empowering nature that it has been concealed from common access.

The 6-pointed star represents the Macrocosm - Divinity within all. The opposite of the association many people have of 666 with the devil and negativity.

Double numbers (i.e. 11, 22, 33 etc.) and triple numbers (111, 222, 333 etc.) are known as repdigits and intensifies the meaning.

666 is also known as the number of the Sun - Carbon (CO2) which is the chemical basis of all physical life. It has 6 protons, 6 neutrons and 6 electrons. The shape of carbon molecules points to the hexagram, which is the symbol of unity.

According to the bible, the world was created in 6 days

“Six is a number perfect in itself, not because God created all things in six days; rather, the convert is true God created all things in six days because the number is perfect.” Saint Augustine (The City of God)

Edwin Courtenay on the numerology of 6

6 is the number of the Mother and 666 (666 added up = 18 = 9) is the number of the Wisewoman or Crone - the fact that there are three 6s (3 being the number of the Maiden) revealing the number to be sacred to the Divine and Holy Mother - the triplicity that is Sophia, Shekinah and Seige - Wisdom, Love and Silence!

According to Edwin, some would assert that number 666, a powerful number representing the Great Goddess, is traditionally associated with the Devil or the Anti-Christ and is veiled by Christianity in darkness and doom, in order to turn us away from its true power as liberator and empowerer of humanity!

666 is mathematically described as a triangular number (the number reached if we add each of the first 36 numbers together).

The Ancient Egyptians - The Number Six represents Tehuti (Djeuti, Thoth), the God of Wisdom

666 numerology TehutiIn Egyptian art, Tetuti (Thoth) is depicted as an ibis-headed god or a baboon. According to tradition,Tehuti invented writing and numbers, hence we was the scribe of the gods and the patron god of scribes.

Subsequently, scribes taught by Tehuti created the letters of the Roman alphabet and the Arabic number set. Pagan religious icons were used to create the symbols that are the letters and numbers we know and use today.

The number 6 is a Pagan religious icon, representing the head of an Ibis. Pagan religious icons can be used to record and communicate our thoughts See resurrectisis.org

Herodotus wrote, around the 5th Century BC: Of all the nations of the world, the Khemitians are the happiest, healthiest and most religious.

This was attributed to their holistic view of man as a function of the Cosmos; they saw it as essential to be in tune with metaphysical realities in their daily lives. The complex vibrations of the body were a reflection of the rhythms, harmonies and pulsations of the universe.  When out of tune, the body would display disease.  To heal a person, it was necessary to use magic to summon the healing harmonic phenomena.

The Khemitians believed that man was created in the image of God and embodied all living creatures. All aspects of nature, such as colours, crystals, animals, plants etc. had counterparts within man.  Man’s body was his temple; and the rite of self-perfection was his soul purpose and ultimate destiny.

They also understood that if man was a microcosm of the universe (represented by 5 – the numerology of 2021), then all aspects of man would manifest on a magnified scale within the universe; in other words, the universe was a macrocosm of man.  The Macrocosm is represented by the number 6 – the numerology of 2022.  Hence last year and this year work together to escalate our spiritual growth.

The Emerald Tablets, attributed to Tehuti (also called Djeuti, Thoth, Hermes and Mercury at various historical junctures, with the Greek version Hermes Trismegistus giving us the term Hermetic Philosophies) details how everything we see is a representation of what we don't see - As Above, So Below - with man being a 'Microcosm' or miniature replica of the 'Macrocosm' being the All.

Our bodies contain our own set of energetic lines and points and although only remnants of what they once were, these lines and points continue to serve as our interface with the universe. This interface is a channel that facilitates our transfer of information and energy between macrocosm and microcosm, the universe and humankind. At one point in time, we became disconnected from these lines and diluted our inherent connection to the universe, distancing us from our previously rapid and expansive rate of evolution.

Thus we are intimately connected with everything. Our individual actions cause reactions in the macrocosm and activities in the greater universe/stars manifest within us.  Physical functions of body parts were seen as manifestations of cosmic functions and particular attributes with specified planets.

There was a strong astrological element too, with medicines being administered at specified times to coincide with astrological influences.  Operations were timed to take advantage of beneficial cosmic rhythms using colours, metals and numbers as manipulative tools.  Hekau (mantras) would be invoked, with music and sound being used to create appropriate vibrational enhancements.  Incantations and chanting created controlled influences on the affected organs. The correct pronunciation of Hekau or Neteru (the plural of Neter) could oust incompatible energies which were causing discomfort and recalibrate the cellular vibration to a more harmonious setting.

The Ancient Greeks - the Number Six is a perfect number

The Pythagoreans acknowledged number 6 to be the first perfect number. In mathematics a perfect number is when all the numbers divisors (excluding the number itself) are added, the sum equals the number itself. 1+2+3=6

In addition when including the number itself and dividing by two the result is the number itself. (1+2+3+6)/2 = 6

Perfect numbers are rare. The Ancient Greeks identified four perfect numbers: 6 – 28 – 496 – 8,128. Throughout history perfect numbers have fascinated mathematicians and, over time, more perfect numbers have been discovered. See mysticalnumbers.com

    Repeated numbers in Numerology
Double numbers (i.e. 11, 22, 33 etc.) and triple numbers (111, 222, 333 etc.) are called repdigits and this intensifies the meaning.  With 666, we have an additional factor that 666 is a Harshad number (divisible by the sum of its digits).

Harshad is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘Joy-giver’.

    Angelic Numerology
My sister, Angela McGerr, refers to Angel Numerology.

Last year was 5 numerology. In Angela's system, she describes 5 as the number of raising of spiritual consciousness, linked to the five-point star of Microcosm. 55 means you are reaching the next, higher level, while 555 mean you have attained a certain level of Mastery in a healing discipline or Angelic Wisdom, or another esoteric subject, greatly furthering your own Soul Quest.

This year we have 6 numerology, which is the macrocosm. Hence, the numerology of 666, gives us both the bigger picture (6) whereas last year was the smaller detail (5).

5 brings expansion through spiritual growth and 6 brings healing and consolidation of that personal expansion, hence life can be said to be dance of 5 & 6 as this cycle repeats ongoingly.

    Summary
Last year we had 555 numerology on 5th May 2021, with 5 being the number of change, motion, freedom and exploration. 5 is also said to represent the Microcosm (the individual) and 6 is said to represent the Macrocosm (the collective). 6 is the number of creativity, of family, relationships and success. This year on 6th June 2022, we have 666, so 3 times the opportunity of eliminating our fears and creating successful relationships.

Healing therefore involves the subtle manipulation of the macrocosm, which resulted in a beneficial manifestation within the universal replica, the microcosm, namely the human being. Man was born mortal but because he contained the seed of the divine, could be heavily influenced by divine intervention.  Life’s purpose was to nourish that seed and move towards a higher state of consciousness, leading to a reunification with the Divine.

Author Bruce Lipton, says a human body comprises 50 trillion cells, each meeting the definition of a living organism in as much as they respire, digest, reproduce, excrete and demonstrate sensitivity, growth and movement.  Hence each cell is like a miniature human being. The current population of the Earth is less than 7.7 billion. In many ways, each of us is like a single cell within the collective humanity.

If 50 trillion individual cells can harmonise together as a single community, there must be hope for 7.7 billion to co-ordinate positive thoughts and co-create a better future for our planet.

Numerology is seen by some as a way of bringing balance, harmony and meaning into your life. Harmony Healing activities are aimed at bringing harmony and wellbeing.

  • Saturday 30th March, UK clocks go forward tonight

Clocks go forward 1 hourSaturday 30th March, in the UK this year, is also when the clocks go forward, in fact at 01.00 on Sunday 31st March (Easter Sunday) it becomes 02.00, and that is the start of British Summer Time (BST).

Here in the UK, the clocks first went forward over 100 years ago, under the Summer Time Act 1916. Although the original campaign was proposed by builder William Willett who was a keen golfer of the time (perhaps to get an extra hour of play in the evening). Other sources say it was for the benefit of farmers, but the final decision was probably driven by potential energy savings with WWI taking place.

UK clocks go forward to operate BST (known internationally as DST = Daylight Saving Time) from the final Sunday in March until they go back one hour on the final Sunday in October. Then the UK returns to Greenwich Mean Time GMT (also now known as Universal Time). Putting the clocks back in the Winter (October - March) gives more light in the mornings when children are setting off for school.

It never ceases to amaze me that the World Time is based on the UK. I suppose that is a testament to the power of the British Empire when it was decided to formally co-ordinate time across the globe. Indeed, it was Sir George Airey, in 1851, who was responsible for the prime meridian being based at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, in London, England. Amongst the 25 nations represented at the International Meridian Conference, hosted at Washington DC, the location of ‘zero longitude’ being centred at Greenwich was decided by popular vote. However, France abstained and for several decades thereafter French maps continued to refer to the Paris meridian.

Although there is no scientific evidence to support the practice of DST, it does seem that aligning ourselves with extra sunshine helps to bring balance and wellbeing into our lives.

  • Sunday 21st June, New Moon @ 07.42 & solar eclipse in Cancer

Sunday 21st June @ 07.42 UK time (GMT/UT+1) is the Solstice New Moon. See below for the New Moon abundance ritual.

It's also a solar eclipse, which is not visible in the UK. Astrologer Lisa Mendes says:

"The Solstice Solar Eclipse in Cancer that occurs on 21 June 2020 will begin a brand-new six-month cycle for the collective.

Light-oriented and hope-filled, it will coincide with opening of the Sirius gateway, marked by the solstice and the heliacal rising of the two great ‘Suns’ or lights of our galaxy, an astrological alignment made famous by the ancient Egyptians through their New Year festival, which was focused on abundance, fertility, life-force energy and the healing power of the mother goddess in the form of Isis (note from Joanna: Isis = Aset in Khemitology).

Mercury, currently retrograde in nostalgic and sentimental Cancer, will be the first to join with Sirius, the brightest star in our galaxy to usher in a time of great ‘rememberings’ of past life gifts and wisdom; as well as a release from difficult ancestral karma. Taking place at the eclipse, this meeting of the archetypes of human and cosmic minds, promises to activate a surge in downloads and light-codes, leading to spiritual awakenings and aha moments for many on the planet, particularly around relationships, parenting, and self-love, as well as how we live and nourish ourselves."  See more at Lisa's Astrologysphere.com website as well as Lisa's geomancy video scope for the eclipse per Zodiac sign

Saturday 20th June – Thursday 2nd July is the Bootids Meteor Shower, predicted to be less active this year, peaking on Friday 26th June (see Blog entry under 26th June). For advance notification (before the 26th June Blog is published) see June Celestial Forecast.

Harmony Healing activities are aimed at bringing harmony and wellbeing into your life. If you are looking for spiritually enlightening activities during lockdown, Joanna offers distant intuitive readings (past life and/or aura readings) and distant 1-2-1 healings and virtual healing circles. We also have meditations available.

A number of virtual courses are now ready and starting this month, details on Harmony Healing Virtual Events. Currently, due to Coronavirus, most events will be virtual hence distant readings and healings are proving popular. We don't recommend giving a reading or healing to another person, without first checking whether it would be welcomed.

  • Sunday 30th April is Beltane Eve in Pagan Tradition

Beltane 30th AprilSunday 30th April is the Eve of Beltane; Pagan celebrations begin with people singing and dancing clockwise around the fire. The name 'Beltane' derives from the Celtic Deity 'Bel' (definition = 'the bright one') together with 'teine' – the Gaelic word for fire.

The combined meaning is 'Goodly Fire' or 'Bright Fire', hence bonfires were lit to encourage the Sun to nurture the forthcoming harvest and to honour Bel ask for his protection of the local community.

Bel seemingly required human effort before providing support so traditionally all community fires were extinguished and two Tein-eigen (translates as need-fire) bonfires were specially kindled for Beltane.

Cattle were driven between the fires to purify them with the smoke and bring fertility. People jumped over the fire (not the huge ones I presume) to cleanse, purify and enhance fertility.

Couples pledged themselves to each other by jumping the fires together and to bless their union. After the celebrations, which ran from sunset 30th April to sunset on 1st May, the villagers took a bit of the Teineigen to start fresh fires in their home hearth.

Dew gathered at dawn from the grass is traditionally used in potions for luck and it is thought to be lucky to roll naked in the dew!!!  I remember collecting the dew at dawn for luck as an adolescent but I didn't try the rolling naked in the dew so can't testify to whether that works for anything other than risking (indecent) exposure.

On Beltane itself, it's traditional to drink from a well before sunrise, then wash in the morning dew, adorn yourself with greenery, watch the sun come up, dance round the Maypole and otherwise abandon yourself to the season! Round Full Moon Cakes are eaten together with blackberry, elderberry, dandelion wine (or cider) being drunk. Visits are made to sacred springs where healing water is drunk.

Thanks also to Glastonbury-based Goddessandgreenman.co.ukwebsite who also credit Sacred Celebrations by Glennie Kindred as their information source. There are always amazing annual Beltane and May Day celebrations in Glastonbury and a 4-day Jack in The Green Festival is held in Hastings culminating on the May Day Bank Holiday (the first Monday after 1st May).

By keeping traditions, Pagan communities retained a sense of harmony and connection, thereby bringing balance and wellbeing into their lives.

Joanna's Harmony Healing activities - not involving any rolling in the dew celebrations - are aimed at bringing harmony and wellbeing into your life.

  • Sunday 31st March, Easter Sunday (or Pagan Eostre?)

hare triscol by Jackie MorrisSunday 31st March is Easter Sunday, which is generally taken to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus three days after his crucifixion.

Easter Sunday is not a set date but is calculated according to the Lunar cycle, being the next Sunday after the first Full Moon following the Vernal (Spring) Equinox, so it can move around between 22nd March and 25th April. This points to the celebration being linked to an earlier Pagan celebration, which were all associated with seasons and moon cycles; further corroborative evidence being the name Easter, almost certainly derived from the Pagan Goddess Eostre.  The Easter Egg is reminiscent of the Pagan egg to symbolise fertility and the Easter Bunny, a curious addition to our Easter celebrations, could well be a variation on the Pagan Hare, another ancient symbol of fertility and with a 28 day gestation period very linked to the lunar cycle. In Ancient Egypt the hare is a hieroglyph meaning ‘existence’. Interestingly, the hare has alleged associations with the alchemical symbol for tin (Jupiter/luck) and is strongly represented in ancient world mythology as having divine qualities. Its elusiveness and erratic behaviour, particularly at night, have reinforced its reputation as a magical creature, with mystical links to the female cycle and to the moon which governed it.

Intriguingly, a famous symbol of three interlocking hares chasing each other around a circle has been found in various parts of the UK, particularly Devon, and indeed all over the world. Known as the hare triscol, only three ears are shown yet, due to clever positioning, they each seem to have two. Looking on the internet for an image to use, I came across this fabulously vibrant version by children's book illustrator Jackie Morris  (link to website)) who graciously granted permission for me to use it for an article I wrote in 2011 when, coincidentally it was last the Chinese Year of the Golden Hare (or Rabbit), this year it's the Chinese Year of the Water Rabbit.  I love the intense blue and the way the moon is represented as both Full and New. Simply stunning!  Thanks Jackie.  Anyone finding the whole hare triscol concept fascinating, might like to check out the Three Hares Project website.
