  • Angels - not just for Christmas

This Guest Blog by Joanna Bristow-Watkins first appeared at Wonderful World of Wellbeing online.

Angel Gabriel by Richard Rockwood from Angela McGerrs Harmony Angel CardsThis morning, as the last lyrics of ‘Hark the Herald, Angels Sing’ faded away on my car radio, I was briefly transported back to 1998. I could hear my Reiki teacher recommending that I call in the Parking Angel should I need to a manifest a space in an overflowing car park. Frankly, at the time, I thought she‘d lost the plot; as surely angels were ‘just something for Christmas’.

Describing myself as spiritual rather than religious, I can appreciate the supportive role institutional religions can play in the community but personally I’ve never felt aligned with the strict doctrines to which some faiths expect believers to comply. So, on reflection, I wonder whether that was my initial resistance to involving angels in my life.

I’m embarrassed to admit, that at the time, I found the beaming, winged and chubby pre-Raphaelite image of Caucasian angels a little hard to take seriously other than as an adornment on the annual festive greeting cards.

My sister Angela McGerr was on the same 1998 Reiki Mastery course. Her attitude was markedly different to mine. She told me later her first reaction was not to ‘call in’ anything that she couldn’t fully understand. So, she decided to investigate them. And that’s exactly what she did, almost obsessively for the next 18 months. In fact, she later admitted that she suspects she was hi-jacked by the angels themselves to create a way of making angels accessible in today’s fast-paced society.

17 years later, in 2015, Angela’s 10th angel book was published, and with cumulative sales nearing one million copies, she was firmly established as a UK best seller in this niche market. She’s since retired from designing angel card sets and writing books but continues to be involved with all things angelic.

So how did she win me round? Initially my ‘interest’ was purely sisterly support of her growing fascination and success, and I was still lukewarm (to say the least) on a personal level. But over time, I came to appreciate the accuracy of her angel readings and their loving support in my life. Now they are an important feature of my mentoring programme and practitioner teaching courses.

The first step was to realise that angels have a much longer history of interaction with humanity than we might think, they certainly pre-date most of our contemporary organised religions.

    Angels in Contemporary Culture

Many people are familiar with the angels in the Christmas story, especially Gabriel, central to the story of the birth of Jesus Christ in the Christian faith. However, Gabriel also appears as an archangel in the Jewish faith, first described in the Hebrew Bible.

The traditional Shema prayer of the Jewish faith sites Gabriel as one of four archangels called on for protection through the night. A translation would be:

Michael to my right side, Gabriel to my left, Uriel before me, and Raphael to my back.”

Indeed, Muslims assert that the Quran was orally dictated by God to the final prophet, Muhammad, through the Angel Gabriel (known to them as Jibril). They believe this took place, in stages, over a period of some 23 years, commencing when Muhammad was 40, in month of Ramadan; and concluding in 632, the year of his death.

The Nativity is where many people of the Christian faith, whether Protestant, Catholic or other (or no faith!) will first be introduced to angels. Gabriel is one of the most sought-after parts in any school Nativity!

Returning to the aforementioned cherubic angel images, these are purely representations by the artists of the time so that they could tell a visual story, both in murals and fine examples such as the celebrated fresco on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome, Italy.

Where did that idea come from? And why are they so often blond and Caucasian in appearance?

Leaving aside the politics of the time, and possible colonial influence, these depictions were an attempt of the current popular culture to represent beings that are much, much older.

The concept of angels predates Christianity by more than four thousand years. Winged figures were depicted in the earliest recorded civilisation (Sumeria, circa 4000 BC) and Colonel Churchward reported the first glyph representations of angels as being even earlier, in Lemuria, though the existence of Lemuria is not universally accepted. It seem that the term angelology, stems from the Essenes, a healing sect living in the Dead Sea area contemporary with Jesus.

It may be that our conventional interpretation comes from our brain’s need to recognise what it is seeing as a familiar sight – a bright light surrounding a ‘floating and wraithlike being’ may well be interpreted as a halo and wings. Perhaps this even started with Mary herself, in her attempt to explain what would have been an almost impossible experience to relate to others.

Angel Raphael by Richard Rockwood from Angela McGerrs Harmony Angel CardsSo, what are angels?

My personal interpretation of angels is as ethereal light beings, a construct shared by many others including my sister Angela, who chose to represent angels in her Harmony Angel Cards and other richly illustrated publications (sadly mostly now out of print, though I still have some signed unused and pre-loved editions available at the Harmony Shop) as images blending the colours and talismans associated with each angel in folklore with the suggestion of feathered wings, rather than humanoid depictions.

That’s not to say that any other representations are of any less value – perhaps the angels themselves chose to represent themselves in a way that we humans could connect with, as one consensus that most people can agree on is that angels are benevolent and seek to help us.

On the whole, they are androgenous beings, though some carry more masculine or feminine traits than others. Did you know, that despite our traditional view, Gabriel may well represent more of a feminine energy than a masculine? Gabriel is in fact the Angelic Guardian of the moon and Mondays (the weekdays governed by the moon). In mythology, whereas the sun is depicted as masculine, the moon is viewed as a feminine energy.

    Calling on Angels

Perhaps this is a particularly good time of year to call on angels to assist you with finding peace, and with receiving and offering good will. Especially this year when everything is in turmoil and constant flux.

However, you can in fact call on angels to assist you at any time of year, provided it’s for the highest good and you are respectful and appreciative of their loving intent, hence not asking them for anything which would harm others.

To find out more about connecting with angels in your day-to-day life, you can join us for our New Year New Visionmentoring course (link to https://bit.ly/NewYearNewVision2021 ).

new moon new vision 5New Year New Vision

Since this programme is aligned to a full lunar cycle, naturally Gabriel will have a prominent role. We work though the 28 Mansions of the Moon and concentrate on the attributes of each lunar phase to help us overcome hurdles and embrace new opportunities. During the course, you will be enriched with a deeper sense of how to immerse with nature whilst aligning your soul with the lunar cycle and the Pagan Wheel.

Assisted by angelic helpers, and building on tools including crystalline energy, vision boards and powerful healing techniques, you will feel reborn for the new year, with new focus, new energy and new divine intent. Starting on 13th January - A new moon and time for powerful new beginnings!

  • Egyptian Burning of the Lamps ceremony, 20th June 2018

Isis (Auset) ImageWednesday 20th June is the Egyptian Festival of the Burning of the Lamps which was held at Sais.

This is the third great festival in Sais to Aset (Isis). In an under-chapel beneath the temple, lamps were carried in procession around the coffin of Asar (Osiris).

It was by the power of light, symbolising the life-giving power of the Moon, that Aset rekindled life in her dead husband.

  • Monday 14th February, Valentine's Day

valentine heartMonday 14th February - is Valentine's Day and is all about love and compassion, which includes Universal Love for all other living things and also Self-love which is so often overlooked.

Some bitterly refer to it as Singles Awareness Day and blame card manufacturers and our materialistic society for love being ritualistically forced upon us every year at this time. However, although it may have the fee of a mordern folk tradition, the first Valentine's Day was celebrated in AD 496 and it's celebtated in a number of other countries as well as the UK.

However, although the story of 'Saint' Valentine long precedes Hallmark et al, the origins are somewhat blurred as there are historical references to the existence of several different Valentines. Folklore indicates that Valentine was a priest during the third century in Rome. Emperor Claudius II outlawed marriage as he believed that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families. Valentine, however, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages in secret. Claudius found out and Valentine was imprisoned, where one version of the legend indicates he befriended a jailer with a blind daughter and he may have somehow managed to restore her sight, resulting in the jailer converting to Christianity. Claudius ordered that Valentine be executed on February 14th and allegedly before his death sentence was carried out, he sent a note to the jailer's daughter and signed it, "From Your Valentine." Hence Valentine's Day is celebrated in his memory.

However, his death day and his association with lovers and notes may have been convenient for Roman Christians looking for ways to blend existing Pagan/Roman celebrations into their Calendar. Many believe it replaced Lupercalia (15th February); a pre-existing Roman Festival where men dressed up as wolves and roamed the streets looking for partners. More on this tomorrow...

  • Monday 1st July, Zoroastrian Rain Festival of Tir Jashan

Rainbow bracelet from Eclectic Shop UK HoveMonday 1st July, in Fasli tradition, is the Zoroastrian Rain Festival of Tir Jashan, dedicated to the star deities of Tir and Teshar.  Give bracelets made of the seven colours of the rainbow (usually silks).  At the end of the festival go to a high place and throw them into the wind.  It's also traditional to dance, make merry and splash each other with water.  This festival is devoted to the divinity Tir and is associated with the dog-star Sirius and the coming of the rains in Iran and the fertility they bring.

As the Festival is actually on the 13th of Tir, some Zorastrian traditions convert this to 4th July.

Interestingly, yesterday, here in the UK, it was the end of Pride month which is traditionally celebrated with any rainbow adornments. The rainbow bracelet shown here (actually it's nylon not silk, but you get the idea) is shown with permission from Eclectic Shop UK in Hove, who sell them for £1.95 each.

  • Monday 31st August, Summer Bank Holiday in the UK

Nottighill Carnival image by Richard Mcall from PixabayMonday 31st August is Summer Bank Holiday in the UK. It falls on the final Monday of August.

In the United Kingdom, most workers have a day off work or school and the banks are closed. The Bank Holidays Act of 1871 introduced the August Bank Holiday to give bank clerks and shop people a day of relaxation not connected to holy days such as Christmas. This has morphed into a three-day weekend before the school summer holidays finish.

This year, for many workers who haven't returned to their usual routine since lockdown, it will probably feel the same as every other day!

In Scotland, the Summer Bank Holiday is the first Monday in August and, originally, this was the case for the whole UK. However, in 1971, after a five-year trial period, in England, Wales and Northern Ireland it was permanently moved to the final Monday of August.

Normally, the Summer Bank Holiday would be marked by the Notting Hill Carnival, held in the Ladbroke Grove area of London. Last year it was over my birthday weekend and there were 2.5 million attendees, 40,000 volunteers and 9,000 police on duty. It's the largest street festival in Europe, and the second-biggest street carnival on the planet!

Notting Hill Carnival was founded by London’s Caribbean community in 1964 to celebrate Caribbean culture, and has maintained a Caribbean flavour. This year it is cancelled for the first time, but typically there would be numerous fun and entertaining activities and a grand parade with amazingly colourful costumes.  Notting Hill Carnival image is by Richard Mcall from Pixabay.

Generally, Bank Holidays allow families to spend time together, helping to bring balance and wellbeing into people's lives. This year there may have to be small or even virtual gatherings online, but getting together with friends and family can still be therapeutic.

Harmony Healing utilises the philosophies of the Ancient Egyptians to bring balance and harmony. The next virtual healing circle is 7.30-9.30pm (UK time),2nd September.

Two  course modules are starting again early September; Chakra Balancing and Unity Consciousness starts tomorrow, 1st September, 10am-12.15 for 3 consecutive Tuesdays (6¾-hours in total) and An introduction to Essene Angelogy starts Wednesday 2nd September, 10am-12.15 for 3 consecutive Wednesdays (4½ hours in total). Both are interactive training modules tutored via Zoom worth ½ unit each towards Reyad Sekh Em (RSE) Egyptian Alchemy Healing Level 1 details on Harmony Healing Virtual Events. Currently, due to Coronavirus, most events will be virtual hence distant readings and healings are proving popular. We don't recommend giving a reading or healing to another person, without first checking whether it would be welcomed.

  • Monday 6th September, Labor Day in USA and Canada

06 Sep Labor DayMonday 6th September is Labor Day in USA and Canada this year, as it's always the first Monday in September comprising the final day of the long weekend known as Labor Day Weekend. As it's predominantly an American celebation, I've reluctantly used the American spelling of labour!

A federal holiday in the United States, Labor Day honours and recognises the American labour movement and the contributions of labourers to the achievements of the United States.

The trade union and labour movements grew steadily from the beginning of the 19th Century until trade unionists proposed that a day be set aside to celebrate labourers. Oregon, in 1887, was the first US state to make it an official public holiday. Thirty states in the United States had officially celebrated Labor Day by the time it became an official federal holiday in 1894.

Canada's Labour Day is also celebrated on the first Monday of September. International Workers Day is celebrated in more than 80 countries on 1st May, the ancient European holiday of May Day.

By keeping traditions and celebrating national festivals, as well as starting new initiatives, communities retain a sense of harmony and connection, thereby bringing balance and wellbeing into their lives.

Harmony Healing utilises the philosophies of the Ancient Egyptians to bring balance and harmony. If you are interested in Ancient Egypt, my Violet Flame of Amenti interactive evening course runs for three consecutive Tuesday evenings beginning 21st September, £88 including a healing attunement. 75% reduction to anyone who has studied RSE 1 or Violet Flame before.

Within Surrey, via Harmony In Nature, we facilitate Forest bathing+ sessions to help adults reconnect with nature and reap the therapeutic benefits (see Forest Bathing+ section of this site on the purple navigation bar above for more about this concept and dates of our events).

Aligning ourselves with the moon cycle is very therapeutic, hence being aware of the Full Moon (a good time for bringing projects to a conclusion) and the New moon (good for starting new projects) is excellent for bringing balance and wellbeing into our lives.  My next lunar cycle study course is Wednesday 6th October - Thursday 4th November.

  • Saturday 23rd April - St George's Day & Shakespeare's Birthday

220px Flag of England.svgSaturday 23rd April is St George’s Day in England, celebrating St George, England's patron saint. The anniversary of his death, which is on April 23rd, is seen as England's national day.

According to legend, he was a soldier in the Roman army who killed a dragon and saved a princess.  The flag of England is the red Cross of St. George, and this is widely displayed as a symbol of national identity.

Surprisingly, 23rd April is not a Bank Holiday.

William ShakepeareWilliam Shakespeare - long revered as Britain's, if not the world's, best known author and playwright, also died on 23rd April, but in 1616, in Stratford-upon-Avon, making this the 405th Anniversary.

He was Baptised in Stratford on the 26th April 1564 and his birth date is not known but it is traditionally observed on 23rd April, Saint George's Day, indicating that he would have died on his birthday.

This date, which can be traced back to an 18th-century scholar's mistake, has proved appealing to biographers, it being considered somewhat poetic that he died on his 42nd birthday.

Shakespeare has 37 plays and 154 sonnets credited to him, but we don't really know whether he actually wrote them, or was just a merchant, land owner and occasional actor who either brokered the plays or was prepared to be acknowledged as the author to protect anonymity of those truly responsible.

Certainly writing plays could be dangerous as any plot seen to reflect a political plot not appreciated by the Queen/King could be interpreted as treason.

Many scholars argue, quite reasonably, that proof of Shakespeare’s authorship is largely circumstantial and sketchy at best; certainly he was better known in Stratford as a businessman [one documented view is that he brokered the plays] and not a playwright.

Celebratiing national and cultural heroes is a great way of uniting communities, bringing harmony into their lives.

  • Saturday 3rd October, Jewish Festival of Sukkot

Saturday 3rd October* is also the start of Sukkot, the Jewish feast of the Tabernacles, it celebrates the harvest and the preservation of the Israelites in the wilderness and occurs on the 15th day of the month of Tishri. The holiday lasts a week, with the first and last days being public holidays in Israel.

Sukkot commemorates the many years that the Jews spent in the desert after the exodus from Egypt and before reaching the Promised Land. The festival specifically gives thanks for the protection, received from their God, whilst in the desert.

The Hebrew word sukkot translates as huts or booths.  Hence, Jewish families may celebrate the festival by building a hut and living in it during the holiday. This hut should have a roof of leaves and bran, and from inside the sky should be visible, so they tend to be temporary and generally quite flimsy.

During Sukkot, a ritual may be observed by taking four different types of plant: a palm branch, an etrog ( citrus fruit), a willow and a myrtle branch and wave them about in celebration.

*Like other Jewish holidays, Sukkot begins at sundown of the night beforehand. Thus all holiday observances begin at nghtfall and this festival ends at nightfall on Friday 9th October. Resource: officeholidays.com.

  • Sunday 10th April, Palm Sunday in Christian Calendar

Palm Sunday - Jesus entering Jerusalem on DonkeySunday 10th April is Palm Sunday in the Christian Calendar this year. Palm Sunday, also known as Passion Sunday, is the 6th Sunday of Lent and the final Sunday before Easter.

Traditionally it marks the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. The name is believed to commemorate the placement of palm leaves on the road to soften the surface for the donkey on which he was riding.

Riding a donkey was symbolic of a peaceful arrival whereas riding a horse may have been interpreted as inciteful since kings entering a city on horseback were often threatening war.

By keeping traditions, Christian communities retained a sense of harmony and connection, thereby bringing balance and wellbeing into their lives.

  • Sunday 14th March, Mothering Sunday in UK

Mothers Day 14thSunday 14th March is Mothering Sunday in  the UK, now viewed as a chance to recognise  the positive role of mothers in our lives. Often posies of daffodils are presented.

Mothering Sunday is celebrated by Christians  in the UK & Ireland and some other English speaking countries. It takes place on the fourth Sunday in Lent, which is exactly three weeks before Easter Day. It was once observed as a day when people visited their mother church, but has become a day for honouring mothers and exchanging presents with them. Increasingly it's being referred to as Mother's Day, although that name originated as an American secular holiday, celebrated on a different date and quite distinct from the initial UK based Mothering Sunday.

By keeping traditions, communities retained a sense of harmony and connection, thereby bringing balance and wellbeing into their lives.

We have two new interactive mentoring courses series starting this month.  The Mindful Chakra Balancing & Unity Consciousness on Thursday evenings, starting 11th March (late starters accommodated) and Essene Angelology on Tuesday evenings which is detailed above. These modules are £66 each.

If you are looking for spiritually enlightening activities during lockdown, which help to connect you with the lunar cycle, we have the next virtual healing circle later this month  on Sunday 28th March, at 7.30-9.30pm (UK time = GMT), and costs £20 (+ £2 Paypal fee). During this session, we connect with other like-minded people and together we work through a mindful chakra balancing process using colours and etheric crystals, with the aim that all participants will experience a degree of unity consciousness. • Sunday 20th June, Egyptian Burning of the Lamps ceremony

Egyptian oil lamp burning with Violet Flame by Ella TrittonSunday 20th June is the Egyptian Festival of the Burning of the Lamps which was held at Sais.

Image of an Egyptian oil lamp, by Ella Tritton, is based on a 3,000 year old oil lamp artifact we found catalogued online, but we have it burning with violet flame. The Ancient Egyptians were reputed to have technology which enabled them to create lamps which burnt with eternal flame.

The exact date of the Festival of the Burning of the Lamps is actually the 13th day of the Ancient Egyptian month of Epeiph, so confusion arises when trying to convert this to our Gregorian calendar and some sources give variations especially 21st June.

Wonderful and informative laminated posters, by the talented Jacqui Taliesin El Masry (Alkhemi.co.uk) featuring Aset (Isis) and other Egyptian Deities, are available from us. See our Egyptian Deity Poster page under Harmony Shop.

By keeping traditions, Khemitian (Ancient Egyptian) communities retain a sense of harmony and connection, thereby bringing balance and wellbeing into their lives.

  • Sunday 4th July, Thank You Day (UK) and American Independence Day

    4th July Thank You Day

Sunday 4th July is Thank You Day in the UK. The last eighteen months has been a testing experience for everyone, yet also a bonding time as families, neighbours and local communities have helped each other through the crisis.

We’ve been reminded that, when the chips are down, all that really matters is that we’ve been here for one another. Before any kind of ‘old normality’ can resume, it’s been suggested that we should acknowledge our gratitude.

The idea started when 13 individuals proposed Sunday 4th July as a Thank You Day in the UK and now the initiative has been backed by celebrities, religious leaders and sports stars, local councils and schools, businesses and communities throughout the UK.

So, in whatever way you choose, why not say a heart-felt thank you to your friends, family, pets, your supportive local community, the NHS and of course nature – which has remained a nurturing and reliable wellbeing resource throughout.

4 July American Independence DaySunday 4th July is American Independence Day; the national day of the United States.

This marks the anniversary of unanimous adoption of the Declaration of Independence, by the Second Continental Congress in 1776

The Declaration announced that the 13 colonies claimed their separation from England, which eventually led to the formation of the United States. They were now free, united and independent and therefore no longer subordinate to King George III, who was Monarch of Britain at the time.

Independence Day is a federal holiday in USA to commemorate the Declaration of Independence of the United States, on 4th July, 1776. The Congress had voted to declare independence on 2nd July, but it was not declared until two days later.

Independence Day is frequently associated with fireworks, family gatherings, baseball games, carnivals, picnics fairs, barbeques, concerts, political speeches, and festivities, as well as various public and private events celebrating the government, history and traditions of the United States.

By keeping traditions and celebrating national festivals, as well as starting new initiatives, communities retain a sense of harmony and connection, thereby bringing balance and wellbeing into their lives.

  • Thursday 11th November, Armistice Day

11 Nov armistice dayThursday 11th November is Armistice Day to commemorate all those who died in World War 1 and 2. Poppies are traditionally used for this. The event is marked every year on the 11th November date itself but a bigger commemoration takes place on the nearest Sunday; this year Remembrance Day is Sunday 14th November.

I personally see this as an opportunity for a very cathartic release of all the sorrow, grief and disappointment for the thousands of families who were directly affected by WWI and the souls of all the millions who died, especially those whose bodies were never repatriated to their homelands. It's a pertinent day to undertake a meditation and send our love and gratitude to these people who selflessly gave up their lives.

11 Nov 11 11 portalWe also have the annual 11:11 Energy Portal. With many people worldwide recognising the 11th November as a powerful date, this, in itself, will create a heightened energy on the day. The effect of a high number of people all having positive expectations on the same date, due to the impact of quantum physics, will make it even more significant.

I will be offering a low key 11:11 event in Surrey (Guildford/Shere) with a few locals (contact me if you live locally and would like to join similar events) but if you want to positively mark the occasion, simply sit or lie down at 11 am (or pm) for 15 mins, thus spanning 11.11 on the clock, and imagine holding hands with other healers, lightworkers & positive thinkers  all over the world. Send love & gratitude to all those who gave their lives selflessly in mankind's many wars, and imagine a safe world for all of us to look forward to living in. ?

Poignantly, three years ago was 100 years since the end of World War One, making it an even grander occasion. I marked 11th November 2018 by visiting the 'Beyond the Deepening Shadow' flame installation in the Moat of the Tower of London.  This year it will be 103 years since the end of WWI and 76 years since the end of World War II, athough it happened earlier in 1945 than November.

Rob Heard, a talented Somerset based artist, created 72,396 shrouded calico figures, one to represent each member of the British and Commonwealth forces who died during the battle of the Somme (which raged for several months from 1st July 2016) and whose bodies have never been recovered or who has no known marked grave. Whilst their names are engraved on the CWGC (Commonwealth War Graves Commission) managed Thiepval Memorial, near the Somme battleground in northern France, some surviving relatives are seeing this as an opportunity to symbolically bring home the body of their loved one(s). See my YouTube video about the Shrouds and an interview with Rob himself.

It took Rob 4 years to create these figures and, for the centenary, they were displayed in an artistic installation at South Park Lawn, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (near Stratford, London) - see a video of Rob creating the figures and the installation being set up. More details here: Queen Elizabeth Park Shrouds of the Somme. After the exhibition closed, the shroud figures were made available to purchase, see Rob's Shrouds of the Sommewebsite for details.

  • Thursday 1st July, Zoroastrian Rain Festival of Tir Jashan and Canada Day

1 July Tir JishanThursday 1st July, in Fasli tradition, is the Zoroastrian Rain Festival of Tir Jashan, dedicated to the star deities of Tir and Teshar.

Give bracelets made of the seven colours of the rainbow (usually silks).  At the end of the festival go to a high place and throw them into the wind (hoping they are biodegradable).

1st July Canada dayThursday 1st July is also Canada Day; the national day of Canada.

This is a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of Canadian confederation, which took place with the passing of the Constitution Act on 1st July 1867, where the new name Canada recognised the three separate colonies of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick being united into a single Dominion within the British Empire.

By keeping traditions and celebrating national festivals, communities retain a sense of harmony and connection, thereby bringing balance and wellbeing into their lives.

Harmony Healing utilises the philosophies of the Ancient Egyptians to bring balance and harmony. Joanna Bristow-Watkins (Harmony Healing) is a Reyad Sekh Em® Egyptian Alchemy Healer and Teaching Mentor. Developed by Joanna, Reyad Sekh Em® is an ultra high vibration healing system combining ancient Egyptian philosophies, alchemy, angelic elemental healing rays, sound vibration, sacred breathing and etheric crystalline energies.

A number of virtual courses are now ready and a selection are starting again this month, including Reyad Sekh Em (RSE) Egyptian Alchemy Healing Level 1 (which is now fully available as interactive training modules) details on Harmony Healing Virtual Events. Currently, due to Coronavirus, most events will be virtual hence distant readings and healings are proving popular. We don't recommend giving a reading or healing to another person, without first checking whether it would be welcomed.

If you are looking for spiritually enlightening activities during lockdown, Joanna offers distant intuitive readings (past life and/or aura readings) and distant 1-2-1 healings and virtual healing circles. We also have meditations available.

  • Thursday 20th January, St Agnes Eve

Canva image of St Agnes Eve

Thursday 20th January is St Agnes Eve; a night for meaningful and deep dreams.

In Christian tradition, St Agnes appeared to her parents in a dream the night after she was martyred.

Through their belief in St Agnes being able to infiltrate meaningful dreams, Christians believed that it would help their wellbeing.

Many cultures believe that dreams pass a message from the subconscious into the conscious mind, often bringing innovative solutions to issues which have been underlying for some time.

Exploring the subconscious connection with the soul is an essential component of harmony and wellbeing in life.

Harmony Healing utilises the philosophies of the Ancient Egyptians, in the form of Reyad Sekh Em (RSE) Egyptian Alchemy Healing, to bring balance and harmony. Reyad Sekh Em (RSE) Level 1 -our next interactive training course series will start soon.

  • Thursday 6th January, 12th Night or Epiphany in Christian tradition

6th January 12th Night or EpiphanyThursday 6th Januaryis Epiphany; the name for Twelfth Night in the Christian Calendar. The day when traditionally the Christmas Tree and other decorations should be removed until the following year.

Epiphany is defined as 'a Christian feast day that celebrates the revelation of God incarnate as Jesus Christ'.

In the UK, Epiphany has become associated with an “Aha!” moment. As a literary device, epiphany (pronounced ih-pif--uh-nee) describes the moment when a character has a life-changing realisation which alters the direction of that character's belief structure and hence marks a turning point in the plot which influences the rest of the story. These are moments of great philosophical, spiritual, or personal insight.

The term Twelfth Night has been immortalised by the Shakespeare's play by that name.

In Western Christianity, the Epiphany feast commemorates principally (but not solely) the visit of the Magi to the Christ Child, whereas in Eastern Christianity, Epiphany commemorates the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River, seen as his manifestation to the world as the Son of God.

The traditional date for the feast is 6th January, although some recognise it as the night of 5th January, and since 1970, the celebration is held in some countries on the Sunday following 1st January.

Popular Epiphany customs included attending church services, chalking the door, having one's house blessed, winter swimming, Epiphany singing. It was traditional to consume Three Kings Cake  or Twelfth Night cake, which would have a pea and a bean hidden within it; perhaps this was a prelude to our tradition of hiding a small coin in the Christmas Pudding. The lady who found the pea would be Lady or Queen of Misrule whereas the man who discovered the bean would be proclaimed Lord or King of Misrule, and roles would be reversed between masters and commoners, possibly explaining Shakespeare’s choice of title for his play although no direct reference is made to this feast within the script itself.

Aligning ourselves with community celebrations is very therapeutic and is excellent for promoting harmony and bringing wellbeing into our lives.
